What's the deal with crossing your legs when you do a pull up? Every instructional video/picture I've seen says to do it but I've never seen anyone do it in real life

I have some free weights that I use like, once every other month, if that.

pull ups i hear make you strong but they arent easy either and i am diametrically opposed to that which is not the lowest hanging froot. i would however bench if my right arm wasnt busted. but thats punishment for past stupidities so i guess i truly have done myself in in many of the ways i couldve excelled.

The way it was explained to me, it gives you a more stable form so you activate less core muscle to stop from swinging as you lift. It also helps stop you from using kicking / momentum to assist the lift
I work out and fight

I'm too tall for the pullup bar I use, when I go down I touch the floor unless I cross my legs.
