I used to have absolutely no social skills in middle school, then I was put into an independent study program (you sit at home, do homework at home, meet your teacher once a week). I developed social skills somehow, don't have trouble talking with people, and can hold conversations no problem but still have no friends and am a shut in. Rate.

I did quite the opposite. I was a social butterfly and didn't have any problems getting people to enjoy my presence. As of the past year and change I've been shutting myself in from the world around me due to some psychological stuff I need to work through

i was a neet for about 2 years until i went to uni. i became more social after going to uni, i made normie friends, and i probably could of become a full blown normie. i didnt become a normie though because i never go to the nights out they invite me too because they go to shit clubs and take too many drugs. im more social than i was but im still a bit autistic

have you ever worked? idk how old you are but working retail, while a bitch at first, made me a lot of good friends and helped me loosen up. my friends thought i was super awkward and retarded when i first started working (slow to work and respond) but once i got the hang of it, everything seemed so simple

Yes. My first to years of high school, I forced myself to be social. It wasn't as great as I thought it would be. It didn't feel right. I eventually fell back into old habits and I'm back to being an autist now.

I don't want to be social. It has no value for me. I'd either be social as a means of finding a girlfriend or to feel satisfied by impressing other people by my intelligence or humour or whatever. I'd rather just be alone.
