Anime doesn't really have much appeal aside from being a good cartoon for children to be distracted by.

Autistic people like using them to express emotions since they struggle to understand emotions of real human faces and with anime it's very simplistic and easy to read.

If I were you, I wouldn't get in the habit of posting anime reactions since they are mainly used as ways to identify someone with learning difficulties or autism when they post.

But do kids in japan seriously watch anime? I haven't seen a single anime that looks like it's made for children (either because of mature plot themes, obscure aesthetics or flat out dirty jokes involving schoolgirls) and I've seen about 50 of them.
I mean maybe there are and I haven't seen them but with what I've seen I'd struggle to imagine a 10 year old sitting down watching it.

For me it's a good medium for storytelling, as you can do anything with a cartoon world. (Standard cartoon does not have this as it's more geared towards children than anime is, and the anime artstyle is a lot more eccentric)
