It's not good to generalize anon, some of the strongest proponents of conservatism are at Harvard or are Harvard grads.

The intro econ class at Harvard, Ec10, is thought by a conservative professor - Greg Mankiw.

It is true that the population of students leans fairly liberal, and that is true for all centers of learning and education. Maybe instead of writing them off because of this you should consider why this is?

I'm just pissed when people think they have to go to the most expensive colleges just to be successful. Too many people think they have to go to a top rated college just to satisfy their own intellectual ego.
The problem with colleges is that it's legal to not hire professors based on their political views, which allows some colleges to have mostly liberal professors, who can get away with indoctrinating highly impressionable students.

I went to a regional state school and now hold the same position as other guys who went to top 20 unis. It's all about luck and being in the right place at the right time desu.

You absolutely don't have to be smart to go to Harvard, but if you are Harvard, you ARE smart (unless you're a URM AA babby, then the jury is out). The people I know who got into Harvard are winners of national competitions and people who started their own businesses in HS.

The problem is that people who probably shouldn't go to Harvard think they have to go just to be successful. If they do get in, some of them end up being biting off more than they can chew, and end up dropping out. What I'm saying is that you should only go to Harvard if you are 100% sure that you're competent enough to do so, and you actually need to go to a highly ranked school for the profession you're planning on getting.
