Furries are people looking for an escape from boring, daily life. They were in the shadows for years until the general population got online and found them out. Like everyone else, they feel like there's something "special" and "unique" about them. Though most of them keep it online/between their closest friends, a few learn how to sew and make the infamous suits. A lot of people swear it's not sexual. Are they telling the truth? Have we been corrupted by memes? Do pure furries exist? They must exist somewhere.

Furries seem to have big imaginations, and theirs tend to "leak" out into real life more than other people's. A lot of them are still young and have no idea how to handle so much criticism and hate, thus the drama. Some of them feel like living cartoons; some want to fuck cartoons. Personally, I've only known one or two furries in real life. They seem to hate whatever's mainstream, and be spazzier than normal, but they didn't seem to be greasy rapists. Of course, I have no idea what went on behind closed doors, but I don't normally question my acquaintances' sex lives anyway.

Like any large population, the easiest group to single out and target will be, ruthlessly, every time. It makes people feel good about themselves to judge someone else, because it helps one forget about their own flaws and self-loathing, if even for a minute.
