Don't feel bad if you have a bad mic or you think your music isn't good enough, post anyway so that you can improve with critics helping you out.

Here's an album/EP thing I made about a year ago.

https://motelguide.bandcamp.com/releases

Some people have liked it, but personally I'm really kind of dissapointed with how sloppily and hastily I put it together (not to mention its all just generic singer/songwriter folk shit). I've written some songs since then that I think are considerably better but for the life of me I can't find the motivation to actually record them. I have several of the songs all figured out in my head, but actually making them a reality is just the hardest fucking thing in the world for me and I don't know why. I mean some of these songs I've been working on and revising for months, and yet still can't get to a point where they feel ready to be further developed. Not to mention that I'm worried that even if I do start recording them I'll rush it all again and put out a subpar product.

anyways sorry for the rant, this whole attempting to make music thing is just annoying.

https://soundcloud.com/ezekialtheromantic/expressions-of-the-morally-conflicted
>>
https://www.soundcloud.com/thestoryofthewhos/lament-for-trielle-original

Music I wrote for a character who died in my autistic story. Her husband was the main character and after his death she swore to protect his children (he was the only man she ever truly loved because her previous arranged marriage was awful). So when the enemy built a giant weapon to try to destroy the massive ten mile tall tree city they lived in, she went on the mission to destroy it and was shot a half dozen times defending the bombs they set. Her husband's friend dragged her to the trenches where she bled to death in his arms.,the song was written to,mourn her, her death was kind of based off of something that happened in my real life, a sort of allegory, and I wanted to write a sad piece that mimicked the music I listened to the morning after her "death" while,on a train ride into new York city.
>>
>>34056955
A flat major is my go to key -- it has the perfect balance of black and white.
There is no such thing as a complex scale, I think you're just psyching yourself out but maybe that feeling will come with more experience. I've been at it for 20+ years and I hate C major/a minor; it's hard as hell to play hard and fast and be accurate without the help of black keys.

yeah sorry man, didn't mean to be a douche but like other than the last chord of the phrase it's exactly the same, even has the some drone in the background. At first I thought you were consciously paying homage to it but I guess not.

It's not that big of a deal though, just keep at it. Plenty of legitimate songwriters have unconsciously done similar things.

Is it too late for me to learn an instrument?

I always wanted to play trumpet or sax or something.
>>
>>34058080
It's seriously never too late. Go for it m8.
>>
>>34058080
Sax is really easy, but you have to buy reeds and its timbre sucks imo. Trumpet's hard but it sounds so nice.
>>
>>34058262
Can someone please explain to me how the fuck trumpets work?

Three buttons? What the fuck?

I've done the math it doesn't add up.
>>
>>34058381
It's based on more than just the buttons, it's also based on the vibration of your lips
>>
>>34058461
I don't believe you.

That's just shit Trumpet players want you think.
>>
how do i get good at guitar? i can't afford lessons, are there any good online resources?
>>
>>34058629
Playing without any buttons down gives you like 6 different notes depending on how tight you squeeze your lips.

Middle valve pressed down brings those 6 notes down a half step, so you already get 12 different notes by just pressing down one button.

First valve pressed down brings those original 6 notes down a whole step, so then you already have 18 notes.

First + Middle valve brings those 6 notes down a minor third = 24 different notes.

Third valve does the same thing as First + Middle.

Third valve + middle valve brings them down a major third. 32 notes.

Third + first valve brings them down a perfect 4th. 38 notes.

All valves down brings them down a tritone. 42 notes from just 3 buttons.
