Why not simply accept the world for what it is?

Because I don't like what it is
It's not like I'm the only one and that the world is operating in perfect harmony except for me
It's full of people and creatures who are forced to feel like they're in the wrong place at the wrong time. And that is unacceptable.

I'm trying to, but I would have to totally divorce my needs from this world first.

I still can't get over my desire for social interaction, which would require me to participate in this world and as a result think about how fucked up it is. So either I give up all my values (which is extremely difficult, being part of my personality) or I pull out altogether.

It's OK to not like the world as it is. As you said yourself, most don't, but that doesn't mean that all dissenters against reality have a unified vision for the world. Far from it, actually. Everyone has their own unique ideal.

And while ideally it's not acceptable, in reality you must accept it. Unless you're born in a place and time perfectly suited to your vision, and I don't think that's the case for anyone, you're in a less than ideal state with little to no control over that fact.

I understand what you're saying but I don't see how it's at all acceptable that a large amount of people/creatures have to be unhappy because they have to share less than ideal common ground with others who are also unhappy.

If anything being able to better shape reality and create compromise between conflicting ideals, rather than giving up and letting the status quo steamroll you simply because it's the status quo, would be a theoretically effective solution to lack of acceptance in general.

Reality is the way it is but it's also constantly changing. Some of the ways it can change are unprecedented, I bet.
