But it's your "primal emotions" that drive you to achieve in the first place?

You don't want to be controlled by your negative emotions, but you realize that "your emotions" covers much more? All of your wants and desires outside of basic biological necessity are emotionally based.

What would be the point of achieving as an emotionless husk if you get no reward for your achievement? You can't enjoy success with no emotions.
