well i live in oilfield country so the majority of our guests are rigpigs and the rooms are being paid for by their companies, and they're not widely known for being well behaved, or sober. I had to learn to be very assertive very quickly or else they walk the fuck over you.
A standard room in my hotel is 250/night, so yes not many poor people, the typical non company guests tend to be decent people, but there's still bums and drug addicts that I have to run off, not to mention thieves breaking into cars in the parking lot.
I've had my life threatened a number of times by scumbag migrants when I tell them to get off the property for loitering.

The powers at be are still in denile about the damage that the liberal's refugee rush has done, and the police are greatly overworked. If you call them and tell them there's a crazy person threatening you, it'll be 20 minutes at the very least before anyone shows up. I think most fancy hotels here would have some sort of security at night even if they didn't they're too big for just 1 person to work there, even at night. The hotel absolutely makes enough to hire security, but this used to be a small boring nowhere town 10 years ago, and denial about what the city has become means that businesses have been slow to adapt.
I could get a security guard if I demanded one, but I'm a big intimidating guy and I don't mind working alone, and so my bosses love me.
Having a security guard floating around bugging me would piss me off anyways, and i'd have to be more mindful of the untruths I tell, and it would be much more difficult for me to manipulate my bosses.
