I've found poster-board can be sturdier but needs to be cut to fit. Cardboard can be folded and taped but will need to be replaced after a month or so, depending on how heavily you use it.

It honestly takes a good amount of skill to make a b-shroud that can take the abuse I put it though. I once had one that had a close-able vent to the side. I probably avoided the flu with that one.
