From what I've seen , females usually survive better. I remember one episode where this hot 20 something girl was on the show and she was like a master craftsman or something because she could make anything out of grass and leaves. By the end of 5 days she had legit layers of clothes on, she made herself a straw hat, searched through the forest for all edible veggies and fruits, made blankets and pillows, and thrived.
