Don't get really drunk you'll just make an asshole out of yourself and feel like shit tomorrow, just drink moderately throughout the entire night and after an hour or so you will feel comfortable but not belligerent.

What I usually do it go to the assigned non-dancing area of the party with quieter music and just chill there and talk to people. Don't hover around your friend too much or you will bug him probably, but its fine to stick with him for a while at the beginning just to meet some people.

OP here, thanks for all the support guys, as expected from fellow bots who might have gone through similar situations, as you say this is an opportunity to grow as a person and make some connections and I might go and try, because if I don't I will regret it until I fall asleep again.
If you can offer some more advice on what to do when I get there? I usually go like:

Alcohol is the social retards best friend. Just make sure you don't throw up or black out and you'll be fine. I went from robot to normie over about a year by learning to socialise when drunk.
