Headphones. I don't like other people listening to what I'm listening to. Also decent headphones are far cheaper than decent speakers. Better for VoIP as well obviously.

Headphones to avoid drawing attention to yourself and pretend you dont hear others when they try to talk.

Speakers are only acceptable when completely alone or next to other robots who also dont give a fuck and dont judge.

Headphones all day everyday when at home, outside and working out i use in-ears (Shure SE112's).

anyone got a decent guide to babys first turntable set up? atm I just have them looked up to my PC's speakers but i'm looking for an amp and some actual decent speakers.

A combination of reading product reviews, and paying attention to the hertz range listed.

20-20000 Hz is standard human hearing range, you want something that covers as large a chunk of that spectrum as possible.

Speakers are superior in every way other than convenience. However that can make a big difference as most robots don't own their own houses.

Speakers. I stapled some sleeping bags that had busted zippers to the ceiling and that muffles the sound pretty well, so I'm not worried about anyone upstairs hearing what I'm listening to.

I've got some Phillips Fidelio x2's which I love. Any decent set of speakers will beat headphones desu but they're much more expensive and I can't chimp out with speakers at my apartment.

Both. Even if you're a musician with really decent headphones and a preamp a good set of monitors will give you more of an idea of the general sound of a song, while headphones enable you to properly each layer individually as well as understand the panning more accurately
