>"we need more STEM!"
>"Everything else is saturated!"

>check an actual study and do some back of the envelope math instead of listening to underage echo chamber faggots on 4chan

rank and amount per 10,000 bachelors degrees awarded each year

Here is the top ten just to give you an idea what we're looking at here

>#1 with 814 - Business Management
>#2 with 539 - General business
>#3 with 463 - Accounting
>#4 with 448 - Nursing
>#5 with 404 - Psychology
>#6 with 352 - Communications
>#7 with 315 - Marketing
>#8 with 287 - General education
>#9 with 279 - Elementary education
>#10 with 251 - English

basically bullshit degrees that everyone knows is saturated without a doubt and didn't even need to look at this list, but now take a look at what we apparently need so badly...

>#11 with 243 - Computer science
>#14 with 206 - Biology
>#17 with 168 - Electrical engineering
>#23 with 132 - General engineering
>#24 with 132 - Mechanical engineering
>#30 with 91 - Mathematics
>#31 with 83 - Civil engineering
>#33 with 83 - CIS
>#37 with 64 - Chemistry
>#46 with 49 - Computer engineering
>#51 with 43 - Chemical engineering
>#62 with 34 - Industrial engineering
>#73 with 25 - Physics
>#75 with 24 - IS
>#89 with 18 - Biochemical sciences
>#92 with 17 - Microbiology
>#100 with 15 - Aerospace engineering

Now, there are about 2,000,000 bachelors degrees awarded each year

2,000,000/10,000 = 200

200 x the number that graduate in whatever major you're looking at to get the real number

now if we look back at how many people are actually graduating EACH YEAR with BACHELORS degrees in these fields...

>CS = 48,600
>Biology = 41,200
>EE = 33,600
>ME = 26,400
>Math = 18,200
>CivE = 16,600
>Chemistry = 12,800
>CompE = 9,800
>ChemE = 8,600
>IE = 6,800
>Physics = 5,000
>AeroE = 3,000

I happen to think that you all have no idea what you're talking about.

You're fucking retarded, what makes something oversaturated isn't just the number of degrees given out, it's also the number of job opportunities. The reason why stem is the way to go is because the number of job opportunities are growing.

what im saying is that arguing over degrees is stupid because the difference between them is arbitrary. it's petty arguing over 5k a year becauss you're still busting your arse in a job that demands a lot. Saying that, you are not the amount of money you earn and your are not the company you work for.

in the eyes of the public, a military boy is valiant and brave, whereas doctors and engineers are spergy and nerdy.

Let me break it down for you. If you want to make good money in the trades you go where the work is, for a journeyman $40.00 an hour is pretty reasonable when work is in demand.
Usually you can get free company housing or motel or camp, and a rotating shift where they will fly you back home on your days off.

By the way, you gave us the number of jobs and that are specific only to the respective STEM field, but you did not mention that a STEM graduate can be accepted into jobs not specialised. Most people do not do work associated with their degree.

A STEM graduate has a much better chance of if employment than a non-STEM one. Face it. Employers know STEM grads had to go through intensive maths, problem solving and abstract ideas, and they are far more likely to be smart than a non-STEM grad as a result of their specialised training.

Camps employ a full kitchen staff headed by a chef, they cater to dietary needs as well such as vegan or halal if requested
But whatever helps you sleep at night m8.

>A STEM graduate has a much better chance of if employment than a non-STEM one. Face it. Employers know STEM grads had to go through intensive maths, problem solving and abstract ideas, and they are far more likely to be smart than a non-STEM grad as a result of their specialised training.
This statement is such nonsense I don't know where to begin. Your boss cares about competence, and so might his boss, but the next guy up probably doesn't. By the time you get to the top, the only thing they care about is shareholder value, so while your training might be better, you're competing against guys from India who can code bulk modules at a tenth the price actually in India, and maybe only half the price here, and they're not saddled with six figure debt starting out.

Most STEM jobs are non-professionnels, meaning that you're not going to be working autonomously like a lawyer or a teacher or a nurse. If you're going to be competitive, it takes a lot more than just a bachelor's in something technical, you need to have something practical to back that up, that is, a reason they should hire an expensive American that commands a high salary because he's drowning in debt not having worked a day in his life against an Indian who is sending money home at half your base pay who has five years experience in the field.

You just can't compete.
