Is anyone here able to repair a damaged video? Yes it's porn, a private amateur vid actually, which is why I can't just get it back from somewhere else.
It's from a dying HDD, only the first 5 seconds work. I've been trying to get it to work with VLC, Virtualdub and Meteorite, but without success.

Thanks m8! I'm out of solutions.
Are you using Linux?

Alright, fingers crossed.
There's this MKVtoolnix GUI that may be worth a try, but I can't be bothered installing Ubuntu just yet.

i'm using ffmpeg with some specific settings, no luck yet but still trying
>>15632786
Thanks for the effort!
>>15632791
any idea how the file originally got corrupted?
>>15632791
i got bad news bud, on a hunch, i opened up the file in a hex editor and the file is completely zerofilled after point 2,097,151, which is about 5 seconds into the video
depending on how the file was damaged and if you still have the drive that it came from, it might be recoverable, but this file is pretty well empty

Nope, sorry. I think the HDD is fucked, tried to restore the partitions with testdisk, but the vid still doesn't play.

there's a disk repair tool called "spinrite" that might help with this. it'll probably take forever but it's possible
>>15632811
Damnit. I guess I'll have to live with the memories then.
Thanks, Doc!

I'll look that up, thanks!
>>15632817
