If my ordinary method does not work, I will use other, more advanced methods before giving up, including work with inverts and channels.

My method works better with dark clothes (especially black) then it does with white ones. Also, there are a lot of rayers who do white, and do white exclusively and very well. For that reason, I may skip white clothes just because my time is limited here.

Some rules. Shadows and light gradients are a problem. Dark clothes require brighter light (otherwise no data); and light clothes require more dim light (otherwise they are washed out). Layers and glossy fabric are serious problems. The key here is that light penetrates through clothes, to skin, and then gets reflected back. To get at this color data, first the light has to penetrate (layers and glossiness interfere with that -- and swimsuits are often both layered and glossy).

The picture is manipulated to remove color levels associated with clothes, leaving a very faint and often low quality image of bare skin, which can then be enriched through filters that duplicate and fill in pixel patterns. This is why patterned fabric, stripes, shadows, and color gradients are a problem. In such cases, you can't just remove some color levels to reach a few that show skin and not much else.

All pictures capture a large amount of light. Most of the light is reflected from clothes. But, due to scale of photons, and also some other characteristics of light waves, some of the light penetrates through to skin. Some of that also reflects back. Very, very little, but usually some. In pictures in even light, the reflected light from skin often clusters in a range of light different from that of the clothes. This means that you can filter out the range of light from clothes, leaving the light from skin. The result is very faint, usually miscolored, and sometimes pixelated. However, Colors can be changed, faintness can be reduced through increasing contrast and pixel multiplication, and pixelation can be reduced by sharpening and blurring.

Highpass filter does that. As does some other PS effects that essentially copy pixels into white pixels next to them. That is what I mean by "pixel multiplication."

You can tell when it has happened because the histogram is reconstituted from a copy to a smooth graph.

Yeah -- that method is very, very hard. Just start with levels and light/white clothes. (Look for Gimp xray tutorials -- which I think are the best explanation for traditional level method.) I do use channel filters -- but I really can't explain it well and it is hard as hell. Very unforgiving.

I have so many different steps -- and pick which step based on what I have seen -- that I can't really do a tutorial. My advice. Start with levels. If you can do it, start playing with different filters, sharpeners, etc. See what works in different situations.

Keep doing the level stuff on easy whites to keep you engaged while you figure out the other stuff (channels, different sharpeners/blurs; highpass filter; custom filters).

Also -- for dark colors -- sometimes just hitting "autocolor" is a good way to start -- while for reds and blues, sometimes just hitting "autotone" is a good way to start.

It's a fake. I could tell enough to know the nips are in different places and different size. That effect is achieved by cropping out some tits from a donor pict and then pasting them on the original as a layer, then making the layer transparent -- looks like about 50% transparency. I don't really understand this. Face paste fakes are usually more realistic looking (and more versatile in terms of content) -- while legit xrays are more accurate. Why go for boring but inaccurate?
