Complicated textures probably won't work. Xray works by filtering out some colors to bring out others based on the layer at each pixel point. Patterned shirts, shadows, contrasts, or just rough colored fabrics cause problems because each different visible color means that skin data is at a different point on the color histogram. That means that bringing it out at one point erases it at another. That is is why single, color, direct, relatively soft light works best.
