WAR!

It is just ten years since the end of WW2, and already the world looks to be headed into another conflict. Not a conflict of guns, but of ideologies. Individualism versus Collectivism. The free market versus the Controlled market. GOOD VERSUS EVIL! Will you be a capitalistic pig under the watchful eye of the United States, or a Communist Dog enveloped in the great expanse of the Soviet Union? The choice is yours...

You will choose any country or faction, including Neutrals, but be warned that both factions will be constantly vying for your attention. The United States and Russia are playable, they will be incredibly limited starting out, as you are the deciding factor between peace and nuclear annihilation.

This will be a player orientated quest, with the QM guiding world events and making sure nuclear war doesn't break out right as we start. The player will have two actions a turn, that can range from anything from a major diplomatic action to research. I will sporadically throw in events that will be either from the timeline, or from the enigma of my own mind.

I will be around for any questions about how I will run it, and the range of your powers. Good Luck

Hi niggers. I am playing New Zealand.

First action: Raising the minimum wage to a living wage.

Second action: banning dairy farms from letting cows and fertilizers near water sources.

Choosing Chile
First action will be nationalizing and expropriating lands and farms from the landowners
Second action will be starting a technological research program that will help manage the economy (See: Cybersyn)

1. Open up diplomatic relations with Soviet Russia. Attempt to broker a tech exchange deal.
2. Investigate and suppress any rebel factions within China through any means necessary. Focus expressly on factions aligned towards the west.

Ahhh, the land of the Kiwi. A looked over but perhaps strategically important island. Being on NATO does have it's advantages though. Your first two acts of business is
1. Raising the minimum wage to a living wage
>You the New Zealand minimum wage to a healthy 1.50 American dollars an hour. While some NATO countries look down on this, some Warsaw Pact nations applaud your care of the worker. Business growth has slowed slightly, but poverty has stagnated, and is on track to decline

1: banning dairy farms from letting cows and fertilizers near water sources.
>Environmentalists applaud your decision to protect the environment, while Farmers are understandably angry. Some Warsaw pact members are also upset, disagreeing with your treatment of the farmer, but who cares about them, right? The cost of food has risen slightly, but with the rising of the minimum wage, it evens out.

>>966206
Chile, if there is a delicious sounding South American country, it's yours. Many South American nations have leaned Communist in the past, but have been suppressed by CIA coups. You are the first to have the balls to stand up to them. It is dangerous though, so be wary of Americans.
1.nationalizing and expropriating lands and farms from the landowners
>In a shocking move, Chile has seized almost all farms and land in the country, cementing them as a socialist state. While this has strengthened the state relatively, what little private farming industry was there, is now gone, impacting the country. Your relations with the Warsaw pact has strengthened.

2.starting a technological research program that will help manage the economy
>Just after your action to take direct control of the farms in the country, you gather top political and industrial thinkers to your capitol. You create a think tank to have them create a successful economic system that will not ruin the country, and they all have the same answer, Capitalism. You give them all 20 lashings and demand they get back to work. It will take years for a prototype government system to be created, so some have looked into a technology to aid the country.

Cambodia has always been cast aside in world politics, but now is the time for it to shine.
1.-Relay a contact to Allied forces and request the purchase of surplus WW2 Guns and Ammunition, chiefly The United States but we'll buy from whoever is in blue.
Through a system of carrier pigeons and smoke signals, you make contact with the US. The United states jumps at the opportunity to have a military ally in Asia, and starts sending shipments of garands and Shermans to the US. The cost of this is balanced by the Ivory sales, that the public wants answered for. Their precious elephants are disappearing and no one knows why

>>966224
China had been the crown jewel 600 years ago, but now it is bad shape, but hey, second chances are great.
1.Open up diplomatic relations with Soviet Russia. Attempt to broker a tech exchange deal.
The Russians are weary but gradually give in. They share some military technology and some industrial secrets, but it seems like it will be some time before trust is given

2. Investigate and suppress any rebel factions within China through any means necessary. Focus expressly on factions aligned towards the west.
>In the vast country of China, rooting out every CIA funded rebel group will take time, but with Russia helping, it should only take a decade. When it is complete, the country should all around gradually become better.

Okay so NZ needs to strengthen their economy. Since we have done two extremely important actions - working class with good wages and our biggest export no longer being a danger to our environment very much - now we can do other stuff.

1:make trade deals with Australia and South East Asia, focusing on exporting to get ourselves wealthy. Good deals preferably.

2:Diversify our industry by investing heavily into medical research, with the intent to be a leader in the field and make huge amounts of money selling medicine and high tech equipment. (will almost certainly take a while to pay off but will bigly)

First came the agricultural sector of the economy, now comes our biggest industry, mining.
>Create state-owned mining enterprises and corporations, specializing in the mining of copper and iron, among other metals of our mineral-rich country.
That should give our economy a big boost, however that also implies that the hegemonic powers will set their sights on us, y'know since we kicked their companies out of our mines and stuff.
>Establish a secret service that specializes in providing aid to left-leaning parties and institutions, including financial aid and 'sponsorship' of revolutionary militant groups. After all they're the people's first line of defense against coups and fascist action.

Angola, a poor African state, but with enough resources pumped in, and /pol/'s theories disprove, it could be the crown jewel of the continent
1.>Begin collectivizing farms at a steady rate, leave some private farms for now
The government slowly starts buying out bankrupt and poor farms, leaving the more profitable ones alone, for now. The economy stays the same, but it will take time for the effects to be seen.

2.>Begin building big ass oil fields
However, oil is an incredibly fast investment. Your deficit is now cut down to 100 million, and with no increase of government spending, the defect could be gone in half a decade

You begin to have your generals draw up plans for the invasion of Egypt. It will be a fairly slow war, for the fact of the lack of tanks to roll across the vast deserts of Egypt. You have 250,000 active duty, and 250,000 in reserve. 1000 ww2 era tanks, and ww2 era weapons. You have about 50 jets, but 300 ww2 planes. Your generals estimate you will need 500 more tanks, to meet the minimum criterion for a successful campaign.

Seeing this military ailment, you contact the US for military aid, and they offer you some M48 Pattons and Lockheed P-80 / F-80 Shooting Star Fighters for 15 million a piece each.

Turkey-12 billion, with a 250 million deficit

1:make trade deals with Australia and South East Asia, focusing on exporting to get ourselves wealthy. Good deals preferably.
>While everyone else is also trying to make “good” trade deals, you do make a deal with Vietnam for dairy, in return for copper, which will alleviate some pressure on your domestic market. You also get in contact with Thailand, and they offer you Ivory for wool and dairy products, raw ivory. You will need to invest into luxury industry to make this into jewelry or luxuries

2:Diversify our industry by investing heavily into medical research, with the intent to be a leader in the field and make huge amounts of money selling medicine and high tech equipment. (will almost certainly take a while to pay off but will bigly)
>While New Zealanders are “white”, it will take time for the Medical sector, especially government controlled, to catch up. With enough focus and money on it though, it could become one of the best in the world. It’s gonna be expensive though

1. Incorporate the gradual trickle of Soviet technology into our government and economy. Ensure a smooth transition over to their ideology towards industry and technology. Begin limited production runs of Soviet arms and armor.
>In Beijing and a few other major cities, Soviet industrial technology is implemented, and it has some improvement, it’s just a little more expensive to build, but cheap to maintain. Your factories switch from your weapons and armor designs, and start the process to create Soviet weapons and arms. Some of the machines have to be adapted, so it costs money, but Soviet tanks are some of the best in the world

2.Mao Zedong has been propositioning several key government figures about a massive economic and industrial reform for the past several years. Several members of the politburo have their doubts however about the long-term effectiveness of this Great Leap Forward. Call in several theorists and industrialists to look over these reforms and tweak to ensure maximum quality.
You hire abroad and call in a large team of industrialists and political theorists to check the quality of your plan. They see glaring problems, such as the low quality material that is going to be produced, and are taking steps to fix them. The finalized plan should be ready in 3 years, but you can launch it whenever you want

>Create state-owned mining enterprises and corporations, specializing in the mining of copper and iron, among other metals of our mineral-rich country.
You dig into the government coffers and dig out money to kick start mines to get that delicious mineral wealth. There is a very large rise of Guerilla attacks on military and economic convoys, and your military reports that a large amount of money is being funneled into far-right militant squads. You can only assume the worse.

>Establish a secret service that specializes in providing aid to left-leaning parties and institutions, including financial aid and 'sponsorship' of revolutionary militant groups. After all they're the people's first line of defense against coups and fascist action.
You create the Chilean Intelligence Agency, and their goal is to be the anti-CIA and fund left-leaning parties all over SA, but without proper funding, all they can offer is encouraging words, and very shoddy intelligence, but it’s a start

>begin copper, iron and diamond mining

The Vietnamese deny all of these accusations, demanding you show proof, and they also move troops to the border. Minor skirmishes are bound to happen. You also lose the stalemate between importing weapons and selling ivory.

-Fund the production of a mining outpost in The Cambodian West to tap into our Sapphire Deposits.
>The beautiful and rich sapphire deposits are tapped, but you fall under the same curse as Angola, terrible infrastructure. The People's Republic of China - Mao Zedong

1. This unexpected outreach from Angola has surprised the Politburo but all of China is interested in the rich mines of Angola. Mao Zedong not only sees them as the most logical ally to have in Africa but as a fuel source to keep his massive industrial reforms moving. So work is put in this year to build, buy, and reroute government ships in order to establish a working trade deal with Angola.

2. As plans are drawn up for trade with Angola, the greedy members of the Trade Commison look over the potential profits and salivate. China may not have much in the way of industrial goods yet but it is the ricebasket of the world. Begin hashing out trade deals with any Comintern or Unaligned nations interested. Seeing a future of invasion and conquering, you order a complete rundown of the military and where you lack. It is a loose collection of ww2 era ships that are out of shape. You also lack any Intelligence agency worthy of being called that, so you can assume you are full of enemy agents. >Further speed up collectivization, leave small private farms permanently.
The state swallows up the rest of the large scale farms and mines, but leaves smaller, family owned entities stay. While these farms usually have a higher output than the collectivized farms, it’s all for the worker, after all. 1st action: Expand infrastructure projects to include dredging out and constructing a deep water military port and Joint Naval Base at Nsiamfumu.
>Money is pumped into infrastructure construction, mainly deepening a few of your bigger ports, and the Joint Naval base between you and China that has been founded. While some worry about the close relationship between you and China, since no military equipment has been seen, it can only be assumed that this is merely a joint-economic venture

2nd Action: Establish a National Power Grid and National Electric Company, build Solar Updraft Towers and start construction on several different designs of Nuclear Reactors. Award Grants and Funding to proposed foreign universities that wish to experiment with different reactor designs, will subsidize construction costs and 5 year operating costs.
>You establish the government owned and ran electric company, in charge of the national electric infrastructure. Your first order for them is to build Solar Updraft Towers in your wide expanse of flatland. While these have not been tried on a scale such as yours, being a pioneer never hurt anyone. Construction is underway. You also hire abroad some nuclear engineers and architects to start designs for nuclear reactors. These could be a military target, so be careful.

1- investing in infrastructure so that public transport makes private transport mostly unnecessary in the metro zones.
>Across the island, paved roads are being laid down and state owned rail services are created. The private transportation sector is almost gone, but the Taxi Serivce is making a large rebound. Your industry also thanks you, as transporting materials place to place is a lot easier. While the initial cost was high, the payoff should be worth it.

2-build commercial goods factories and trade the commodities with America and Japan.
>You continue to increase government spending to refurbish and build new factories to sell commercial goods to 3rd world countries.Japan accepts small shipments, but America fulfills most of their needs. Asian countries and a few African countries accept your goods, but you find it hard to sell your clothing and cheap knick-Knacks. America accepts some of your clothing, as it is fine material, but most of their needs are met by their own country

1.Now the Japanese will focus on developing their technology for Japans use and as a way to trade with other nations. Specifically radio technology and other methods of communication, for this 200 mill will be pumped into it.
>Being that you already have a high-tech industry, it isn’t hard focusing on radio and other telecommunication technology. Your main buyers are America, some Asian countries, African countries, and some countries in Europe. You and America corner the market on this technology, so enjoy it while it lasts. You and America now have the highest quality and most advanced radios in the world.

2. Now the Japanese will continue their efforts for research to benefit Japan. Offer to begin developing U.S warplanes such as fighters and bombers so more money will continue being pumped into japan so we may continue our various efforts as the U.S.A will continue purchasing our high quality goods for a high price.
>America gives a few schematics for older tanks and planes, but it is a start. You have your few factories start producing these vehicles. America says they will only be for home defense, so they will cover the upkeep costs. America still purchases the radios, but they are years ahead almost everything else you could provide. It’s gonna take time and focus to rival the US in technology

>You declare to the world to be neither NATO or Warsaw. While this is not an usual declaration, be warned that both factions will be vying to get the oil rich country of yours.

2. Attempt to establish secular local governments in areas of religious "turmoil"
>You attempt to establish secular local governments, and in stable and prosperous communities, it works. In the religious friction areas, it fails miserably. Half the people want Sharia, and the other half want secularism, or a Christian leader. It seems like more drastic action must be taken

1. Since Independence, Indonesia's constitution has been in a constant state of dispute and amendment. The time has come to draw up a final version, enshrining the values of the west; freedom of culture, religion and speech.
>You finalize the Indonesian Constitution, finally bringing that argument to an end. You focus on Western values, which is odd considering your location. American immediately comes to you to offer trading alliances, and inviting you into NATO. It seems that he does not have a lot of allies In asia, and a country such as yourself will be incredibly helpful

2. Reach out to the USA, UK and France, looking for investment into our backwards economy. We have plenty of natural resources and people to work them, but need money to set up the mines and oil wells.
>America and France put up the money to invest in mines, and the infrastructure needed to support them. They just ask for a 25% cut of the profit, and a contract to not trade with any Communist or Socialist country. The mines and infrastructure will take a couple of years, but when finished, it will be some of the best in Asia.

>While a few citizens and officials are upset, the vast majority of the population appreciate the nationalistic course of the education. Catholicism is taught in schools, and there is morning mass for all students. Almost everyone in the country is becoming Catholic, or is Catholic.

Action #2 will be investing more into our already established medical science industry, with more labs being opened.
>Thankfully you already have some medical sector, so increasing funding impacts it more than other countries. There are now major medical research labs in a few cities, and they mainly focus on tropical diseases, as they are near the epicenter of them. The cost of these labs are fairly high, but if you can find the right buyers, they will pay off tenfold.
