It is the year 2270.
Throughout The North East of this great nation there has been a force spreading, a force the likes of which has done well to strike fear into this already destructive world. From where you lay, you have never seen The Menace, but you know its name. They live by the name Atom. The same Atom that once destroyed the world that gifted such luxury and ease to the people of the past, the same Atom that droves have began worshiping out of what you can only assume is desperation and submission. This has become their world now, their wasteland of irradiation that they deem as blessed.

There has been a call to arms from all of Christendom, an absolution of sin and corruption from The Papal Overseer crossed all of The Wastelands, all men of god who stand beneath the holy banner shall know the gates of heaven at their deaths so long as they act to strike down the spread of The Atom Worshiping devils. You only hear of this news from the likes of a man by the name of Arman. He is a man young and fanatical, eager to please the lord and summon the people of The Wastes to fight for the lord that blessed them with life.

You are but one among the flock, one that will join the crusade and fight the forces of Atom so the false god may fall along with his crazed, radiation poisoned believers. You will be fighting an army the likes of which The Lord has never faced before, but a question still stands as to why. You live among your small Texan brahman village where you have known nothing but your family and farm life since you were born. You’re ready to leave it all behind, possibly for that great eternity that any could face in the never changing face of war.

Why will you go, Crusader?:

You shall crusade for the glory of heaven and the god that protects you. In this you’ve gained your position as a being of true faith, a believer that will live and die for their lord.

You have gained the bonuses of:
[High Zeal 1: +5 to Rolls involving Religious Debate, Conversion, or Knowledge]
[God’s Champion 1: +5 to Attack Rolls made against Non-Christians]

Arman sees a valiant light in you, the likes of which he’s glad to see rising in an individual. The Fellow Crusader is a dark haired latino man standing near to five and a half feet. A scruff of beard has began to draw along his face, but enough only to darken the flesh rather than show a fine set of whiskers. You two will be traveling together from now on, so you’d assume it’s best to get to know him. Arman claims to be twenty three years old from a far away settlement of Los Cabos. He has been attempting to gather a team of crusaders along his way, but as you see now it’s turning out that you seem to be the only being he’s managed to recruit. Arman has all the devout vigor of a true follower, but it seems what he lacks in charisma you’ll be needing to pick up the slack on.

Your recruiter has brought with him a single Brahman that carry his pack, mostly the essentials of cooking equipment, dried meats, a couple of hunting rifles worthy of a pair of crusaders like yourselves, and around ten handwritten bibles that Arman has claimed to write himself during the long nights in The Wasteland. He was sure they would do well to spread God’s word to the unknowing or to the unfaithful so they may be enlightened and join his herd.

-Inventory-
2 Hunting Rifles (2 Equipped)
10 Slabs of Dried Meat
10 Handwritten Bibles

Now seeing the map that Arman has brought along, you see but a few locations that he’s picked out specifically, all of them are claimed to be his destination. There is New Canaan to the north, where he is aware the likes of many Mormons live. He is confident that he would be able to take the faithful of jesus there and convince them of the Christian cause, even if they don’t follow in the word of The Papal Overseer. Within the old town of St. Louis he expects to enter The Papal Vault for the first time where the proclaimed head of The Christian church resides. He expects to receive his blessing before heading out to The Boston Area and beginning the true crusade once he’s gathered more men across christendom. The map is in your hands now, Crusader. You are half of The Lord’s Herd and have just as much say as your recruiter ever should on where you will be heading.

Where to go, Crusader?:

You decide that it’d be best if you and Arman could meet The Overseer first hand and take on his blessings before you bother with the likes of trying to sway more formal town. Having a seal from The Papacy would better legitimize your authority in Christendom after all, at least where people truly respect in The Papal Vault of course.

You begin your journey outwards, intent on heading eastward. You follow along the ruins of The Rout 40 Highway, easily the best road structure that’s ever graced the lands near your village. Traders from far east head along that path through into the freshly claimed territory of The Legion that you’ve heard of into NCR. You’re of course heading the opposite direction, and all along the way Arman is talking, almost to an annoying degree. It seems that he’s been at a loss without someone to accompany him along the journey, but as you take turns riding the pack brahman he’s content to tell you about life back in The Mexican Wasteland where they’ve been having their own issues over the many cannibal tribes that are beginning to flood out of The Sunken City once known as Mexico City. He lives in hope that after this crusade, The Overseer will send another southward to assist The Latin Catholics battle their heathen enemies once more.

Your conversation soon draws to a halt as you see the first spot growing nearer in the distance, a city built right on the pathway of Route 40, that of which bears only the markings of many elk skulls pinned up upon wooden spikes that mark the ground every few feet in a long circle around the town. You’ve never been here, but you’ve heard the words of traders passing through this route. This is Elk City.

Within that town before you lays a tribe that has inhabited these plains for years upon years, but worst off, you’re starting to remember a few of those complaints the passing traders spoke of. The Norris Clan rules this territory, and charges a toll for traders passing through their territory. Arman asks if they’re men of god, but you’re not truly sure. It seems passing traders weren’t all too concerned about the beliefs of the people that extorted them. Maybe if you had a good word with the natives you could manage a bit of free passage for the sake of crusade. Who’s to know though?

You decide to brave the likes of Elk City, you and Arman passing into the border of Elf Skulls like the valiant crusaders you are.

It becomes apparent quite quickly that the beings living here are more tribal in their existence. They seem to comprise mainly of hunters, and only bind themselves in heavy wrappings to protect against the cold of the snows that fall eager from the sky. You are greeted initially without much care from the many onlookers. These tribals living on the main road must of course know the likes of traders that pass through often, likely thinking you were one in the same. A slight thought passes your mind about uniform, as you still wear the likes of casual farm hand outfits and your crusading partner Arman wears a set of leather armor that comprises mostly of a heavy leather skirts and a tunic. Perhaps your presence would demand more respect if you donned on true armor of a crusader, or at least symbolism of The Christian God.

It’s not long after you enter the town that you first spot it, doning the land just before The Town Hall stands a towering figure. It lays covered in the light snows, glimmering in what light it had available a whole nine feet in height above you and Arman. It’s the like of a bronze Bull Elk, one that has loads upon loads of bones and sacrifices scattered along its base in offering to the godly visage. Arman comments that these beings seem not only to be heathens, but worshippers of false idols. Much like the sway of The Golden Calf, these beings have seen greatness in metal more than they have in The Lord.

You spent a moment debating internally about the state of these souls, knowing the flame would devour them if they remained in this state of ignorance and Elk worship. Perhaps it’s time you enacted your position as a crusader and made your case for Jesus to these sinners.

In the meantime the city itself has a collection of buildings, the main of which being the craftsman forge decorating the town’s center, the town hall that lays decorated in tribal-esque guards wielding hunting spears and armor made from a mix of hide and bone, and the church that remains empty along Elk City’s outskirts, boarded up and vacated long ago to be one of the many abandoned structures that decorate the land. It seems this clan simply doesn’t have the population to occupy more than the centermost area. Arman presumes the town to have around one hundred and fifty to two hundred individuals from his counting.

You chose to meet the town leader head on. It would be a sign of bad faith to start calling out the word of Jesus to a populace without the leader’s backing after all. That may seem like an act like the beginnings of a coup otherwise.

Entering The Town Hall isn’t troublesome, the guards there are overconfident in their abilities as the many of them watch you entering that sturdy domain. You leave the brahman tied up outside to an old bench before you take your first steps inside with Arman. As you’re walking down the long hall you glance over to see the usually chatty Arman clutching one of his hand written bibles tightly, the look along his face stony, but his body language gave off the presence of fear easy enough for you to pick up.

It’s only moments before you come to the throne room of the clan leader. He is a large man, hefty in weight after years of luxury, but strong as ever underneath those layers of fat. He’s rather immense, you being unable to estimate his height from the sitting position he was in, but from the way his throne’s platform arose high before you he might as well been mouse sized and he would still be holding an intimidating loom. You take the lead in pleasantries, bowing before The Clansmen as Armen soon follows suit, seeming to mimic you well. Soon a guard comes over to stand before the heathen king, calling out the sound of an innumerable amount of titles, the most important of which seeming to be, “Master Charuck of The 40th Route.”

You never hear Master Charuck speak, instead The Guard spends moments leaning his head down to listen to The Leader’s whispers and announce his words for him in a bolstering tone large enough to fill the elk skin decorated room. You swear at some points it became loud enough to set the countless bottlecaps scattered about in piles around the throne room to jingle and tremble. He asks for your names, and you give them, introducing yourselves as men of Jesus. Silence befalls the room as you’re allowed to present your words to The Master.

What will you say, Crusader?:

The Master stares down at you as you try and make a case that The Christian God is in fact a lord that could very well rule his people just as well, or even alongside The Bronze Elk. it seems though that The Clan leader was having none of it until he arose from his seat and offered up the first few words that you ever heard the man himself say. “Prove it.” Armon audibly gulps as a guard makes quick work taking a club from the throne room’s many weapons racks. It seems to be a club of sorts made from bone, smoothed into a fine instrument of head bathing and decorated with the likes of ceremonial symbols burned into its visage like some form of ceremonial beating rod.

The Guard ushers you out from the room, three of them grabbing about your figure without regard for your struggles as they manage to yank your gun and shirt from your body before casting you down into the snowy earth at the foot of The Bronze Elk. You grow confused before there's an announcement, The Master climbing up onto his position mounting The Bronze Elk like a mighty steed to overlook you as a crowd begins to gather in a circle. They all seem to know what’s going on. The Leader calls that you shall be the representing champion of The Christian God, and that you will prove your god’s acclaimed might by striking down that of The Elk’s own Champion. It’s only now that Arman had managed to muscle his way through to the observing ring to stand at its edge with an ever worried look growing on his normally stony face.

There’s a moment of cheering that calls out as you stand, but it’s apparent that the cheering isn’t for you. Instead it’s for the being that was being dragged along the broken, snow drift roads by a rope. You had expected a shaman, or a warrior to come and challenge you, but no, these insane heathens expect you to battle face to face with a hulking, mutated Elk that’s quickly thrown into the ring of people, it’s kicking and braying form before you as it manages to stand itself up. You see horns lower, a hoof scoop back snow in preparation. You have a bone club, and not a lot of options. Glancing over, you see Arman with a forced grin decorating your features, giving you a pair of quivering thumbs up.

It’s an Elk, Crusader:

The fight begins immediately, but you’ve been in this position before.
You remember in a second life back on the farm, before charging brahmin and herding cattle that you were intent on wrangling just like your father taught you. The Snow bites at your flesh as you stand your ground, dropping the club at your feet. The crowd goes into a look of shock as you abandon your weapon so readily, all save for The Master who calls out your cowardice, believing you were about to run. Oh how he would be proven wrong though.

The first charge is met with an ushered dash to the side, The Elk running passed you only to twist and turn about in anger, almost slipping along the powdery whiteness below it. The second charge is powered by fury, and if anything, the might of false icons that you’re soul bound to destroy. Your hands open wide and as those antlers collide into you, they meet your palms where your mighty, experienced finger wrap a hold and make one sudden turn that has The Elk’s head veering to the icy floor and colliding so hard against it that the antler tips could be heard grinding and snapping against the broken road muffled underneath the snow.

Like an act of The Lord the weight bearing down on your hands soon finds itself almost entirely relieved. You stumble from the lack of weight, the sound of two mighty cracks calling out around you followed by the thud of Elk Body slapping against the earth. Your eyes lay closed, screwed tight as if expecting the wrath of a grip escaped Elk to spear into your back, but it never does. Instead you hear the bray and call of a distressed animal as The Mutant struggles to get to its hooves, floundering like a mad animal behind you until it manages to get up and begin to dash off in fear. Your eyes open, and that’s when you see it, your hands aren’t empty, instead you’re still gripping upon the horns that had been so vigorously slammed against the earth that they both ripped from their owner and now belong to you. You dehorned The Beast. The Champion of The Christian God made the weaker idol no better than a doe. You look up, and see a shocked crowd, all save for Arman that’s turned from quivering with fear to shaking with excitement.

You raise the antlers high declaring that this is the work of The Christian God. You cast away the demon weapons, casting them to the snowy floor below as The Crowd slowly, one at a time begins to draw themselves near you to pull off bone totems and symbols that decorated their body depicting The Elk. They’re cast before you, laying with the torn horns of their champion.

You have gained the Skill:
[Demon Slayer 1: +5 to Attack Rolls made against Mutated Beasts]

A Red blanket is cast over your shoulders, giving you a much needed moment of warmth as the passion of demon slaying begins to die down. You saved the souls of many today. The Totems are left cast to the floor as The Master dismounts his Bronze Elk. He apologizes to you, and claims a great deal of innocence over the ordeal, inviting you to stay a night and tell them more about Jesus while you remain.

You glance up at the statue and notice that a pair of craftsman have taken to The Elk and began sawing at its antlers, prepping them for removal. Arman wraps an arm around you, pulling you tight into a brotherly side hug and he goes on about how amazing your fight was. It seems he was back to his old chattering ways now that there was no martyring to worry about. Arman takes his handmade Bible and hands it to The Leader, proclaiming to you and him that he’d be spending a good portion of the night teaching the clan about christian traditions and practices.

Charuck seems expecting of you, following you around as you lead him about, all the way to the town’s outskirts where the once active church stands high. Guards take to the doors and pry their jammed figures open, letting the moths inhabiting the inside flutter out promptly. It was just about to reach sunset as Arman had managed to gather a load of the older clan members and join them together to practice a sermon. It’s at this time that you tell Charuck your needs, and your mission. You tell him that you will be needing The Lord’s Warriors, and that there are worshippers of false gods to The East that will be clashing with The Lands of Christendom if you don’t bring warriors to get the blessing of The Papal Overseer.

The Clan Leader doesn’t seem too phased by the request, and nods along as he and the many other converts learn the hymns of The Lord piece at a time. He tells you that he shall gather ten of The Lord’s newest warriors to accompany you on your journeys, and offer up the weapons and food they will require. He assures you that even though they’ve lived as heathens, they are hardened by the lesson of The Elk, and will perform well on The Battlefield for their salvation.

Your Crusader Band had Grown by 10:

-Crusaders-
10 Elk City Convert Spearmen [Leather Armor, Tribal Spears]

With this revelation, you grow happy, and ever content. You’ve made your first great stride in building a crusader band that will push back the forces of Atom once and for all. With a sense of ease, and tiredness finally overcoming you, there remained only a few moments of The Lord’s songs calling all around you before you fell asleep wrapped in that warming red blanket among the old church pew.

You awaken to the feeling of Arman jostling your shoulder, summoning you to consciousness once more. As you look upon The Fellow Crusader you see that he’s donned in the likes of robes, ones more monk-esque in wear, making him look like some form of friar as he passes one to you all the same. He tells that you’ll need to get up and get ready to head out, all the new crusaders are ready. You, still shirtless as ever, don the robes and begin to follow Arman outside to see the likes of ten men donned in Elk Hide Leathers and Metal Shard Spears. Perhaps you could find some funding in the next town over to get these men equip with weapons truly worthy of raining down The Lord’s Bullets upon his enemies. They are ready to follow in under your command, and Arman has spent all morning going about and collecting what donations he can from the populace.

Your current stats:
-Inventory-
40 Caps
20 Slabs of Dried Meat
9 Handwritten Bibles

-Crusaders-
You [Friar Robes, Hunting Rifle]
Arman [Friar Robes, Hunting Rifle]
10 Elk City Convert Spearmen [Leather Armor, Tribal Spears]

It’s about the time that you grace the town square once more in preparation for your journey that a man approaches you, a blanket wrapped around some form of gift that he presents to you. The Man introduces himself a Dronny, the lead craftsman in Elk City and one who was present with your fight against The Champion. He has taken it upon himself to dehorn the bronze elk in the city’s center, and to melt down those very horns into a weapon worthy of your feats. As you unveil the blanket, you gaze upon the fine craftsmanship of a bronze blade, shining valiantly as you take it in your hands, its weight light, but its edge all too sharp and ready to strike down The Lord’s enemies. This is a symbol of your victory, even depicting the burn carved visage of an elk’s skull with horns removed along the smooth bone pommel that graces it just above the grip. You thank the man, and he wishes you luck in casting down The Lord’s fury on the non-believers.

You open your map and look over the next marking that Arman has drawn on its surface, that of simply “The Dome.” You grow a bit confused, but Arman explains that it’s a trade post popular along Route 66, the very same one you’re journeying on.

[Backo guys, sorry about that delay there.]

You have decided to stick around for a bit longer and explore the unused ruins around the town for anything that could be of use. Your new crusaders know of a place that might end out being helpful after you head on out of Elk City a small ways to make your way over to a place that stands one story tall, created to look like the old pioneer days of the pre-war. This is a place by the name of Old Town Museum. As you enter, it becomes apparent that this building was created to preserve the olden history of a time that’s even farther back than anything generations back now these days could remember. In The Wasteland, this place has been tolled with age and a lack of care or maintenance.

You question what could truly be any bit interesting about this building until the spearmen guide you along to a display untested by time. It’s a guns display, though one that only displays rifles old enough that not even conventional bullets are truly settled to work with them. These are muzzle loaders. The butt of a spear comes slamming into the glass that protected them, no alarms remaining powered in the old building as the group goes about taking the frontier weapons and carrying them back outside to be loaded up on the brahman. The crusaders tell you that these are going to need black powder sacks to ever be functioning, but if you could find some in a trader somewhere they’re sure they could be used as some killing machines for The Lord.

You’ve gained yourself 20 Frontier Guns:
-Inventory-
40 Caps
20 Slabs of Dried Meat
9 Handwritten Bibles
20 Frontier Guns (Needs Powder Flasks)

As you’re heading out, you glance down, seeing one of the displays showing a fine set of Pioneer Clothes the likes of which have been preserved from the invading moths by the glass box they’re held within. You wrap your fist up in your sleeve and crash through that glass, taking a broad rimmed hat placed within and placing it upon your head for now. This shall keep the sun from your eyes on the long journey up Route 66 ahead.

You gather your men together, and they seem ready to march along with you.

I wonder if The Churnch of Atom is technically a Pagan Faith, or is Atom like an actual god to them rather than a force of nature?
>>
>>971907

More like a pseudo-Buddhist, nihilist monotheistic faith with elements of the more metaphysical theological concepts of Gnosticism, Taoism, and Hinduism, with bits and pieces of cargo occultism, vaguely rational and pseudo-scientific nature worship for flavor, topped off by a bastardized, heathen version of Christian morality and salvation, along with a simplistic, nonsensical, but compelling rhetoric to lure in new converts. It's a strange, widespread, and insidious cult, to be sure. We'll have our hands full cleansing God's earth of its taint.

You take to route 66 once more and further along its cracked roads. From time to time you see travelers wandering about its length, often enough merchants coming from the other direction. You hear tales from them in passing, some about the wrath of the heathens that are further out in the eastern area passed The Great Mississippi. They grow worried that if the radioactive threat progresses any further that they may one day find that the great river will be tainted with the savagery of their radioactive poisons, all for the sake of their Atom. These worries trouble your mind, as you have never seen a man of Atom, but you have no doubt in your mind that wherever they go the ravages of radioactive death shall follow.

There is no border to the next town you come upon, only the olden sign welcoming its viewer to Oklahoma City. A smile donns Armans face as he rides into the city limits, taking in the sight of the still standing buildings all around them. This was once a city where trees and urbanization mixed, even the great manmade river underneath the bridges you cross still flowing, albeit with a much darker complexion than you assumed it once had. You wonder aloud why this land is called The Dome before you see it off in the distance.

Tall above the earth there stretched an odd building, one populated by a mass of brahman and traders that gathered around to participate in The Golden Dome’s market like the majority of them had though the sight was casual now. To you and your crusaders though, it was truly a sight to behold the way they had build a fine surrounding wall of cars stacked upon upon another, and still passed that tall wall the tip of the arcing figure could be seen well gracing the skies. This was a place of business, and a safe one at that. Your crusader group is let in after the guards manning the walls usher you in, they seeming not to be afraid of your mostly spear wielding band enough to question you aside from asking your destination. When you tell that you’re on your way to slay The Heathens of Atom, the gate guard tells that you’re not the only one in town with that goal in mind, but they take on traders from all around, so fighting will not be tolerated in these walls, religious or not.

As you guide your men inside, you see a collection of markets gracing The Dome’s outside, as well as a multitude of stores along the inside of the multiple floored building. All the treasures of The 66 find their way here at one time or another.

I have question, what is the Church policy on Ghouls and Supermutants? Are they seen as misfortunate souls to be shown The Way, or possessed abominations in the Lord's sight, to be cleansed with Holy steel and fire wherever found?
>>
>>972031
Depends on The Sect.
We'll learn later about how all the denominations of Christianity joined hands, but as it stands The Catholics believe that most mutants are lost to the corruption of Atom and will be better dead, but The Baptists believe that Mutants can be absolved of sin and corruption of Atom if they're both intelligent, and baptized.

Other sects have different stances, but Catholics and Baptists are really the biggest groups.

You go out in search of these fellow crusaders that the guard spoke about, intent on seeing to your brothers in faith and travel with them to The Holy Vault. They’re not hard to find in the slightest as they’re looking for someone the same as you. In fact you’re called at as you near their grace, tipping your head to see the likes of at least fifteen men in the robes of monks, bearing no weapons upon their person all the while. Arman perks a brow, but before he can say anything on the matter one of the monks is already greeting your band of crusaders, seeming excited to meet men of faith.

One Monk, the leader of this little traveling band, declared himself by the name Innocent of Austin. He explains to you that his band is one of peace, monks trained in the art of medical treatments from deep in The Texan Wastelands. They’ve been stuck at The Dome for a few days now awaiting a band of crusaders or guarded caravans to accept them as part of their journey towards The Papal Vault, as they intend to be deployed as medics with crusader bands, but are having trouble finding a group that will take on fifteen pacifists all the way there.

The Monk takes upon trusting your charity as he shows you his own map, revealing the position of a holy site just beyond The Dome, further along The 66. It appears to be a position just marked ‘Ozark Statue’ in boldface with the handwritten ink of The Monks. They intend to visit this holy site soon enough and then keep on The 66 all the way to The Papal Vault. Innocent seems to stress the importance of getting medical units to the front lines that are loyal to The Lord, as he doubts many fellow pacifists will make it even as far as they have.

As you explain to The Monks the importance of carrying a weapon with them, they refuse ever kindly, then far more insistently as you ask once more. It seems that these men of god will keep their virtues intact rather their new guide warns against such things or not. Either way, The Monks are very content to follow you, but shall remain in their pacifist ways. You worry about how this may affect them once they get to the front lines, but perhaps they shall keep the medical men away from immediate combat for the sake of their own safety.

“It’s simply hard to change the minds of The Faithful.” Arman tells from the back of your group’s brahman, your eyes casting up to the snow graced man as he smiles down at you. “You should find comfort in that fact. It only means they shall be more loyal to the men of god like us.” The Crusaders behind you seem to not truly know what a monk is, but they mingle well with them. It’s quite apparent that your spearmen are wholly illiterate, as the monks need to read the bible passages they point out to them, often a few of them trying to find favored ones to keep close to their hearts and live by. Arman approves of this behavior.

With your tag along band of Monks, your band now numbers as follows:
-Crusaders-
You [Friar Robes, Hunting Rifle, Demon Slayer’s Sword]
Arman [Friar Robes, Hunting Rifle]
Innocent [Friar Robes, Medical Training]
10 Elk City Convert Spearmen [Leather Armor, Tribal Spears]
14 Arizona pacifist Monks [Friar Robes, Medical Training]

You look back to your supplies and determine that you have the following:
-Inventory-
40 Caps
20 Slabs of Dried Meat
9 Handwritten Bibles
20 Frontier Guns (Needs Powder Flasks)

Arman Suggests that maybe you could find a gunpowder salesman for your guns among the likes of The Dome Markets, as they’re filled with most things you could hope to find, along with anything else you could muster for The Crusade.

You seek out an arms salesman, entering into The Dome where the higher demand goods are kept. It becomes apparent quite soon that this building before the war was a bank, and in actuality still is. The Dome Lords overlook the transactions, remaining on the top floor balcony with their veil obscured faces and binoculars that gazed upon you like a mix of protector and eavesdropper. Finding a gunman isn’t too hard as you and Arman enter the stall that serves as a long standing weapon service. There a man stands behind a counter, glancing over his store as a multitude of people browse his wares in search of ammunition and guns alike. He sells armor, but only the likes of metal sheeted wear, seeming that the far more fancy stuff is monopolized by specialty salesmen that grace the market.

He has in stock:
Metal Armor: 20 Caps
Hunting Rifles: 10 Caps
Single Shotguns: 10 Caps
Pipe Shotguns: 5 Caps
Cowboy Revolvers: 8 Caps
Sub Machine Guns: 15 caps

Apart from the Atomite Saracens and the Devil himself, what are the greatest threats to the Faithful?
>>
>>972963
Likely The Legion since at this time they're unifying all The Pagans and worship old Roman style gods. They just happen to be invading the other direction and are still mostly tribal. The Atomites on the other hand have like, guns that blast you in radiation so that's way worse at the moment.

I think at this time The Legion is about to attack Hoover Dam for the first time, give or take a year.
>>
>>972972

How much will this eventually diverge from the canon? And when did the Atomite become a militant horde? That's a drastic shift from what we've seen of them n Fallout 3. Who is leading the Atomite hordes, and apart from forcing their religious cult on the vulnerable and spreading their unholy, cancerous, radioactive taint across the land, what are they doing?
>>
>>972995
Hopefully minimum.
This is the year 2270 which is about a decade or so before Fallout 3 begins so in the historical canon The Crusaders did succeed in dismantling a grand sum of The Atomic Faith, but of course can't stamp out all of it. What you see in Fallout 3 is likely a more peaceful sect that split off from the more lethal New England Atomicists that you meet in Fallout 4, who are indeed still much more militant and hostile.
>>
>>972995
Also as for who leads them they got like their own Pope Figure that will all be a work of Fan Canon so he could be whoever. Maybe we'll even kill him, who knows?
>>
>>972995
Fuh, I keep forgetting to answer whole questions.
Right, they're mostly bathing the lands they come crossed in radiation and generally causing massive amounts of sickness over the idea that radiation is a pure light that will burn away evils. They're making life wholly unlivable for the more christian inhabitants of New England because of the way they're literally trying to make all major sources of water pure by blasting it with radiation. That's the reason the crusade got called in the first place.

I'm sure everyone can see with how much religious insanity that went on around The New England Area why Clements in Diamond City insists on having a church for everyone. Maybe we'll get in Diamond City too sometime, it'll be like a whole 20 years before Fallout 4 begins so a lot might be different.
>>
