In a time before time, before man set words to the great tablets of Unkan and the first people's were made, the world was the house of another, and man, it's guests.

In the sagas we call them Durakboth. In the elder tongue, this means "Men as great as mountains". We know from these tales that they were giant, and ruled the lands and their people with ruthless authority. Being 1000 times the size of a man, they would destroy entire cities with their great fits of rage.
Some, we worshipped as gods, for though they bore a wicked wrath, we found ways to please them and in return gained great boons from them, like language and architecture.
Until Unkman, the Unifier of Man and First King of All peoples. By uniting the tribes of man, and using great war-machines created by their industry, defeated the Durakboth and slew them with a song, melting their minds and putting them into permanent slumber.

It has been many years since the times of Unkman, and the world has forgotten the wrath of the giant kings. They have forgotten their unity, and now, with no clear enemy, turn on each other in petty wars over meaningless power.

A giant awakens.

You are:

>Alem'kir, Giant of The Flaming Mountains of Gel

>Germon, Giant of the Glaciers of The Frozen Plain

>Shartuth, Giant of the Undersea Mountain beyond the eyes of man

You have returned to:

>Wreak havoc on man in return for their past insolence

>Create chaos for man so that they may reunify

>Re-establish rule over man, as is the rightful way

You hear of the world that man has made from the spirits they have conquered. They fish your oceans and drive great craft of wood along the coasts of lands that are not theirs. You know that it will be no easy task to do what you have set out to do. Man is an unruly child that has been undisciplined for too long.

You feel strength return to you, and you decide it is time for action.

You rally your most trusted servants:

>The river nymphs, able to infiltrate mankind with their ability to shapeshift and beguile men.

>The Kalmordok, the great tentacled beasts of the caves within the Mountain. They can swallow ships in a single mouthful and cause tidal waves and whirlpools at a whim.

>The Slunkpent, men made of great plates of armor. They are a fierce warrior people, and have spent millennia waiting for your return.

You know something of the lands that border your great ocean. There are cities on the coast. The profit greatly from trade facilitated by the wooden craft they drive. They compete with each other for resources, and occasionally compete in petty trade wars.

You marvel at their arrogance.

Your nymphs return with much news of mankind's new world.

They tell you of great cities made of stone, and of great machines that help them build and make food. It seems it is more different than you expected.

They give you three truly important peices of information.

-The coastal cities are ripe for conquest. Their defenses would not stop you, and their weapons would not harm you. Only if they unified could they hope to defeat you, but their situation has only been worse since the nymphs began their campaign of espionage.

-The nymphs believe that their are men among the city dwellers who would gladly pay you tribute to keep their land and homes in-tact, as they did in the old days.

-They tell you that the cities and towns farther inland rely on these cities greatly for production of goods, and that tactically these cities are paramount to your plan

You ponder.

>Attack Brugyor now, destroying it. After that, you will simply have to await the throngs of capitulating leaders begging for mercy from your might. (1d100+20)

>Have the nymphs enact the tithe, negotiating the first born son as tribute from every family in the city of Brugyor. (1d100+35)

>Allow the nymphs to delegate on your behalf, and try to peacefully transition into power. Maybe some part of these men remember their place beneath you. (1d100+35)

In the times of the rule of the Durakboth, it was common for the giant overlords to eat a sizable portion of the population of their lands. This both ensured population control and control of popular opinion by destroying dissenters. Where there is tribute, there is dominance.

But maybe they would need a proof of power to convince them. It is possible to grant a boon or power on one of our nymphs to serve as a display of the power we have? Because they can talk all they want about the old ages of the giant's domination, but they might need proof

The nymphs negotiate with the men of the cities, and tales of the terror of the time before Unkman still hold power. The men soon form a council made of representatives of the four great coastal cities: Burgyor, Anterg, Kimpfal, and Sloke.

They invite you to their first meeting, on the island of Larchos, where your great palace once stood.

>Agree to the meeting, arrive in person, negotiate taxes and rights of rulership.

>Agree to the meeting, destroy their ships and eat their representatives. Send back men with an explanation of their taxes to be paid and give them plans for your new palace.

>Reject the idea of a council and tell them you want to speak with the true leaders of each city, demanding formal capitulation.
>>
>>907662
This is a valid observation. For the people of the cities, just the presence and words of the nymphs is enough to seriously intimidate them, as they are powerful magical beings.
>>
>>907673
>>Agree to the meeting, arrive in person, negotiate taxes and rights of rulership.

Let's play with their rules ... for now. If their insolence proves to be greater than their wisdom, that's when we will begin destroying to prove our point.

Before you set foot on Larchos, your nymphs search the area through the many decrepit aqueducts of the ruined palace. You see that the humans have turned your throne room into a sort of meeting hall, and have erected a table for themselves at the foot of your throne.

As you climb the Undersea Mountain to its peak, you feel a surge of power. You are taking your first steps to the restoration of the Golden Age.

As you climb into the throne room, a few humans are swept away by the torrent of water trailing of your massive form. You sit on your throne, feeling the stone settle and crack beneath your weight, unfamiliar with its master's bearing.

Many humans have already fled in terror, and the few that remain stare in awe at your immensity.

Your thunderous voice fills the halls, and you speak their tongue as if born with it.

You negotiate your rule. They present you with their first set of terms.

>The cities are ruled by a council of elected officials, with you at the head of the council, given complete control over the passing or failing of laws, but not their creation.

A 7% tax on all land and trade would fill your coffers directly, with an additional 3% going into an independent fund for the council.

This, also think we need to raise the taxes a bit more to ensure they don't begin getting to strong under the new agreement and hopefully it will help strengthen our cause as well.

Also the Palace and throne room should be properly refurnished on their dime.
>>

You demand the ability to create laws, so that you may restore what you can of the old world to this new land of men.
You also demand an increase in the tax, and demand the refurbishment of the palace in Larchos.

The counter with:

You can create laws and vote, with double the voting power of any other member of the council. All issues are put to vote, and cannot be unilaterally decided by you.
The tax will be increased to 15% with %10 going to you directly as tithe and %5 into a general fund for the council
The palace in Larchos will be refurbished, but only when the councils general fund can reasonably afford it.

>Agree to these terms
>Demand more power
>End the meeting, unresolved
>>
>>907808

I think we should have a bit more voting power but I would agree to this if everyone else wants to go that route
>>
>>907808

>>
>>907808
>Demand more power
Triple the voting power.

And everything else sounds acceptable.
>>
>>907858
In a tie between you and the council, who wins? If it's you, you could essentially only allow things to pass that you wanted to pass giving you absolute power. If you always lose ties, then the council could only disagree with you if they all agreed otherwise.
>>
>>907808
>>Agree to these terms

I think this is okay for now. We don't know if they still can build their war machines that stopped us long ago, so we better not become too forceful and give them the illusion that it is possible to negotiate with you

You see their terms, and counter that you demand triple voting power among the council, and that the tax rates agreed upon are acceptable.

They agree to your terms. How do you seal the agreement?

>Hold a festival in one of the cities, heal the sick and inspire terror from your new citizens.

>Gift the cities with good ocean weather for one day to commemorate the agreement.

>Demand that you are given a blood sacrifice, as is the ancient custom when striking a bargain with men.

You make your way to the city of Kimpfal, and there you sit on the floor of the bay, and offer your power to sick and infirm men who will die or cannot work. They rejoice in their health, and praise you. You find this is a useful tool for increasing morale amongst the people.

Do you agree to return next year?
>No, if they earn this gift again you will return, but you will not be obligated to them.
>Yes, you will allow them to plan for the date. They will love you for your generosity.

You demand a sacrifice from the men, and are astonished to find that there are volunteers among the people of Anterg. It seems the tales of the nymphs among the men gave rise to the creation of a cult in your honor.
They believe your arrival heralds a return to the old times, and wish to gain your favor. They present you with a man named Jebrolt.
He is meek, and has little meat. He seems eager to be eaten.

>Eat Jebrolt, consider the matter settled.
>Eat Jebrolt, tell the nymphs to encourage the volunteering of sacrifices among the men.
>Refuse Jebrolt. Demand the right to choose your sacrifice from the populace.

Under the new laws, your people feel as if they are prospering. It seems the minds of men are more in order when they are ruled by you, rather than allowed to rule themselves. Industry and trade do well, and your 10% grants you 50,000 golden coins. A small fortune to a man, but merely a fraction of what will be needed to keep the men under your thumb. The councils general fund is granted 25,000 gp, and voting commences on how to spend the capital.

I am seeing infiltration of he ranks of the Unkmani worshippers, and I am also seeing the vote on investment in infrastructure passing. Writing.
>>
Your first voting session among the council goes well, with a bill to invest in infrastructure seeming to benefit all parties, it passed unanimously.
Soon, discussions turned to the threat of the Unkmani worshippers to the west, who threatened to invade the coastal cities unless they disbanded the cult to you, and cut ties.
They say they do not wish to cut ties, but they cannot win a war against them.

You send nymphs to infiltrate their ranks, but it becomes apparent that they are discovered when four rivers that cross the city of Brugyor dry up for a season, signaling the death of the spies.

Now is the climax of the game, and the last choice of this chapter.

You sit with the council, and create a new plan of action.

Vote for as many options as you'd like, post separately for each vote.

You conduct the ritual to summon the giant that slumbers within the lands of the Unkmani. It will take some time, and so you focus on the next phase of your plan.

You conscript an army of the civilians of the city. Under training regimen created by their river nymph officers, they quickly become an acceptable fighting force. You march with your troops to the religious Capitol of the lands of the Unkmani, Hangla.

You wreak havoc upon the city. Your soldiers lay siege to its walls, and after weeks of starvation, you step over the walls of the city and raze it to the ground. Nothing is left but rubble and the bloody aftermath of your murderous rage.

You feel confident that the day is won, before noticing that on the horizon is the familiar form of your brother, Germon, of the Frozen Plain.

Except he is not frozen. His usually frigid form has transformed to one of mud and stone and the grasses and greenery of the lands as they are now.

He stomps upon the ground and the shockwaves signal the ancient familial greeting of your clan. You reciprocate, and your people flee in terror as fissures open around them.

Not long after, the leaders of the Unkmani offered a peace treaty with your alliance.

These humans are easier won than you would have hoped, it seems. The arrival of your brother could be a blessing or curse, depending on how the eons have treated your reputation.

You gain 60,000 gp in tithe income, now at a total of 110,000 gp.

The council receives 30,000 gp in tax revenue, and spends it on wages for the troops.

You settle into your throne in Larchos, and ponder.

I for one am keen for a higher class of sacrifice. Thin blooded wastrels are simply not enough, we need heroes. We should create a tournament open to all those brave enough to dare enter where the finest specimens compete in a variety of worthy challenges. Nymphs will convince the populace that the winner receives immense glory and joins you in your hall of wonders beneath the sea. We eat the winners.

Why eat somebody who potentially could become a commander for our troops or at least an elite warrior if they don't have a tactical mind? And I feel like the sacrifice is more like just a formality, we don't really gain nothing from eating humans, it's just part of our way to instill respect for us in the humans.
>>
>>908464
Would you have us eat nothing but sea foam? That's not living. There will be others to command our armies, the best should be spared the battlefield where their blood is wasted in slaughter, no it is much better that they meet their fate as meat upon our plate.

You put too much value into ceremony and tradition! Do you not see these are only tools for us to remind this feeble mortals that we are above them? They serve no greater purpose and we should use them only to those ends- not to indulge petty desires.

One season has passed since the fall of Hangla, and the cessation of lands from the Unkmani people into the hands of your alliance. The Unkmani seem resigned to cooperation, but you can never be too sure. They continue to resist efforts to be infiltrated by the nymphs, as they have developed a system of codes for testing identity.
They agree to end resistance, but demand representation on your council.

>Vote in favor of allowing them representation. (1d4+3)

>Vote against allowing them representation. (1d4+3)

While your nymphs correspond with Unkmani leaders, your brother awaits your audience. After awakening him during the invasion, you allowed him some time to adjust to his new form. It seems he has undergone a Kurg, the elemental transitions that come with the changing of the world. He has forgotten much of how the world was before the rebellion of man, and seeks your guidance.

You vote against the joining of the Unkmani representatives to the council. Their moral opposition to your rule would only cause more issues at the council than you already have. They seem dismayed, but I don't think they expected equal rights after forcing you to destroy their capitol.

The council meets again, and your lands produce 80,000 gp for you personally, and an additional 40,000 gp to the council's general fund.

The other members of the council vote unanimously to force the Unkmani to abolish their worship of Unkman, and accept the nymphs new religion.

>Accept this, you agreed to respect their votes. It will only help to have the Unkmani stripped of their worship of your ancient enemy.

>Threaten the council to vote differently. You see this causing more trouble than it's worth.

While the council debates, you address your brother. He is happy to learn that you plan to follow the old custom, and grant him lands to rule along side you. What do you give him?

>The lands of the Unkmani. Your brother will gain his own council and voting rights similar to yours. The two of you will meet to discuss larger issues at a Meluk, or clan council, as is he ancient custom.

>Give him Larchos. While it holds no real power, the symbolic gesture will show good will. Promise aid on future military campaigns so that your brother may capture his own lands.

>Allow your brother to choose.

You accept the councils vote, and plans are made to end the worship Unkman.

>Send in platoons of soldiers to destroy the temples and monuments. Kill religious leaders.(1d100+20)

>Send word to religious leaders that continued practice of their religion will not be tolerated.(1d100+20)

You notice that the nymphs cult has gained more political clout as of late. Two of your councils representatives openly wear the robes of priests of the order. You could use this to your advantage by:

>Forcing the Unkmani to commit to worship of you as a god, enforcing this with priests of the cult in your land. (1d100+35)

You sit down with your brother and negotiate his terms of rule over the Unkmani.

He presents his terms.

>They will henceforth be known as the Germoni
>He shall make their ruined Capitol his home, and you will furnish the funds for a rudimentary palace (100,000 gp)
>You will commit to oaths of mutual support for military and economic issues

You can decide to agree or disagree with any or all of those. Items especially disagreed with will be renegotiated.

Your armies march on the cities of the Unkmani. You raze their temples, murder their priestesses, and burn their effigies to their ancestors.
Shortly after, you turn the run of the land over to Germon, who renames the people Germoni.

In the night, they flee. It seems that within a few weeks, the people of Germoni have fled into the mountains to the West of their cities. Those that are left are fiercely rebellious, and refuse to let themselves be ruled by the Durakboth.

Seeing no alternative, your brother enacts his first policy as leader, and eradicates all the men of the land. He raises armies of green humanoids, larger than men, and arms them with great weapons of earth and stone, and gives them great machines that hurl boulders for miles. Within three weeks, not a human remains.

Now, having to import the necessary labor, the building of his palace will be even more expensive, costing 150,000 gp instead of the agreed upon 100,000 gp

>Go ahead with construction
>Ask him to pay the difference
>Refuse the construction, reprimand him for killing his entire populace

With the lands of Germon now lying vacant, many of your people see an opportunity to grab up valuable land and resources.

>Allow Germon to sell his lands as he pleases
>Demand that the priests of your cult be allowed to build temples in Germoni
>Demand that your people get first choice over the vacated lands
>>
>>913902
>>Go ahead with construction
>Demand that the priests of your cult be allowed to build temples in Germoni

Treasure isn'tt super important to us. But it's good for our kind to have a widespread religion which deifies us
>>
>>913902
Ask him to pay the difference, if he doesn't have it, then he can pay us the equivalent in those stone throwing machines. Tell him we need our palace rebuilt, too.

As his brother, ask for first choice of his lands. Better they be owned by a fellow giant than outsiders.

Also, demand that OUR humans be treated well by his green skins. They're the ones who will build our stuff, after all.

Work out an immigration policy so that our humans and his greenskins can reside in the other's cities, so that instead of racial hatred, they develop national hatred. Our peoples are allies as we are allies. This is one more step toward bringing the glory days back.
>>
>>913978
I like all of this, if any people show interest in the ideas.
>>
>>913978
This is good all around
>>
>>913990
>>914032
Thank you.

If possible, I want to foster good relations between giantlands, because we're each others' only allies. I want to influence our brother to think from the same perspective, "Restoring Giants to their rightful place".

Having his new race committing hate crimes against allied humans will only be counterproductive. We need to instill in them, the blank slate, that not everyone is their enemy.

We could possibly spread our religion to his people, but include our brother in the pantheon, so that we are both worshiped in both countries. This would be the easiest way to facilitate the directly above, because it would give them something to share in common with their not-green allies. This can wait until a bit more of our population worships us. We already have a mutual defense agreement.

For now, just make sure our bro has informed his people of our agreement and status as allies, I guess.

This is a really good idea anon

Your council meets in Larchos, along with your brother and a few representatives from what your brother calls "troll".

You spend 4 days negotiating. On the first day:

>You demand rights to temple construction

>You demand right for human citizens of the alliance to emigrate to the Germoni lands

>You offer to allow push for Germon's worship among your people

>You demand schematics for his stone throwing machines

Germon and the troll people talk amongs themselves. You notice that the representatives vary in color from dull grey to shades of green and brown. It becomes clear that this is merely a topical difference as they share a unique language.

He accepts the rights of immigration and temple construction. He accepts the idea of his addition to the pantheon of your cult.

He demands:

>Trolls wish to worship their own gods and maintain their own leaders, owing only mutual support oaths to humans

>Trolls wish to be able to buy human criminal prisoners as slaves

>Trolls will create the machines, but only sell them to the human alliance. The human alliance will not be allowed to create the machines

>Agree to the terms of the trolls
>Ask for different terms
>>
>>914185
Ask for information about the troll gods. For an ally, perhaps we can turn a blind eye to worshiping non-giants, because we have permission to build temples in their territory, and don't want to drive them away like we did the humans.

They do have their own leader, his name is Germon. His bureaucracy will be of his own making and as their creator, the trolls are his responsibility.

Secure the same rights for our Nymphs as humans have, too.

Is slavery legal in our lands? If so then yes, if not, then no for now, but let it be known that it can be brought up again after slavery is voted on. We can't allow them to own human slaves if humans can't, because that will make humans indignant. If we answer yes, demand that in return humans may buy troll prisoners in the same way.

Agree to the siege engine terms temporarily, remind them that trolls may also migrate into our lands and that our barter is one of nations, not races. Make the temporary part clear, no underhand tricks with our brother. The reason is that the trolls who migrate here may build the machines, and humans can learn to make them after seeing them. Humans are better builders, the evidence is the increase in the palace's construction costs.

To soften the deal, give a second alternative offer for the schematics for the siege engines. Offer to send a few human smiths to teach the trolls human metallurgy.

Tell him that the palace deal is separate from the schematic deal. We offered to build it for him, but the price raised by half again. Tell him we'll still do it, but he needs to pay a third of the total 150,000 gold himself directly because he directly caused the price increase, or offer us 50,000 worth of the siege engines and we'll pay all of it. Tell him the reason is because we need to build our own palace, and we're sending our craftsmen to build his first, in part because we can't afford to do both at the same time.

We're spending our personal funds to help a brother out before we help ourselves. We're a good guy.
>>
>>914383
who cares about slavery?

i like it too, minus the consideration about slavery. the only thing we should be worried about at this stage is equity. if they can have laves, we should too, but if slavery is a new thing then whatever.

When asked about their gods, they simply gesture to your brother. It seems Gemron has encouraged their worship greatly. It seems their requests come out of a fear that you will force them to worship you also.

The troll's laws are far more strict than the humans. They take no prisoners, and all crimes are punished by death and fed to Germon. Germon refuses to end this practice.
The trolls see the use of prisons as futile, and hope that they can gain cheap labor in return for ridding you of your criminals.
Criminal labor is not uncommon in the human alliance, but is usually controlled by the state and not private individuals. The council agrees that it would be legal to transfer criminals into the hands of a private party in return for funds or other compensation.
Germon and the trolls agree to the trade of machines as compensation for the construction of the palace as planned. Trolls do not possess the gift of architecture as humans do, nor the skill in crafts. The only are able to construct the throwing machines with the aid of Germon.
Germon does not wish this technology to be in the hands of the humans, as he believes they are prone to war amongst themselves. He stands firm on limiting the trade to the sale of already built machines.

As of now, nothing prevents human settlers from moving west into the Germoni lands of the trolls, and nothing prevents troll settlers from moving east into the human alliance.

The palace is constructed with labor you import from the human alliance. It is huge, and houses not only Germon but many of his high ranking trolls. He appreciates it greatly, and agrees to honor the oaths you have made to one another.

You receive 10,000 machines called "catapults". Do you set your nymphs to reverse engineer them?

>Yes, your brother should not hide things from his clansmen (1d100+35)
>No, we will honor his wish to keep the technology from the hands of humans

It seems what temples you have built in the lands of Germon are unpopular with the trolls who live there. You do notice, however, that the slave populations maintain their faith from their homeland, and hold you in higher esteem than your brother. Even after condemning them to a life of slavery, they worship your might.

You possess 40,000 gp in private funds.

For a while, things are quiet. Your brothers land prospers agriculturally under the trolls. They know much about irrigation and the soil of the land, and farm industriously. They export much of their grain and other produce to your alliance.
Economically outcompeted, many human farmers set out into the Germoni lands to farm, seeking better soil and more land to till.
Soon, towns of mixed populations sprung up all over the lands of Germon.
Still, you wonder when you will repair the palace on Larchos.

Again is it the time for the annual festival of healing. You restore health to many of your citizens, improving morale. During the festival, a commotion erupts.

1/2
>>
A group of human males, wearing black robes push through the crowd that has gathered at your presence. They shout that you are a tyrant, and that humans ought to rule themselves. The people around them are uneasy.

>They dare insult you as you bring them a gift? Eat everyone present for their insolence. This will send the right message.

>Tell your citizens to murder the rebels. You have just given many the gift of health, their morale is high. They will fight for you.

>Eat them and explain that anyone else who feels disgruntled with the government should bring them to their council representatives.

Supporting, but have them capture some alive for interrogation. There will be more.
>>
You incite your people to attack them, urging them to take them prisoner. Those that resist are slain by city guards.
Within an hour, the captives are rounded up and shipped to Larchos for interrogation by nymph security.

You respect your brother's wishes to keep the catapult technology from the humans. You know their hearts, and they would try to use the machines to rise up against you.

Your nymphs report that your cult has a solid standing in Germoni lands, and even some trolls recognize you in their rituals. They also tell you that in the mountains of the far west, your scouts have seen evidence of humanoid movement and encampment. This could be the displaced Unkmani people, or it could be others. They await your orders.

>Seek out the campers and report back findings, even if exposed.

>Seek out the campers but remain hidden, if seen, kill all witnesses.

You feel a strange sense of destiny as you stand on a ledge of the undersea mountain, enjoying the solitude of the deep sea.
>>
