This quest will be based around the setting of
the LN/Anime ''Is it allright to pick up chicks in
a dungeon '' (Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no
wa Machigatte Iru Darou ka).
I'll run it as a straight dungeon crawler with
some social play as well and no i won't be
going into anime cannon.

Rolls will be done when requested.
First 3 posts rolling a 1d100 to determine
sucess.
The most individual posts till i close the vote
decide our actions.

So without further ado here we go:

You stiffle a yawn as you enter a grand hall
following a mass of people.
Still stiff from the two day long journey on a
carriage you rub your eyes as you look for the
''Adventurer registration''.
Heh, to think you'd do something as childish
as ''going on an adventure'' when you are
already an 21 years young human man.
Your uncle sent you of his farm a week ago
saying something irresponsible about you
''needing to shape up and do something with
your life''.
Can't blame him tho that he wants you of his
back now that his oldest son has gotten
married and is waiting to become a father.
He raised you ever since you were too small to
remember your parrents who died of some
unknown desease.
Even arranged a teacher for you so you could
learn how to read, write, work a craft and even
got you a decent sum of money (10Gp) for
your departure to the capital city of Orairo.
Not knowing what you'd like to do you decided
to join up as a dungeon delver to make ends
meet or maybe meet some hot receptioner lady.

Well that was the plan untill you got
snapped out of your daydreaming by a yell
''Next please! ... Next please!..NEXT PLEASE!''
comming face to face with an angry middle aged elven man.
Well there goes the dream of meeting a hot receptionist lady.

''Sorry'' you squeze out a wry smile.

''Here's your questionary.
Please awnser all the questions.
If you don't understand one of the questions do not hesitate to ask me.
The registration fee is (5Gp) and you will recieve basic training , gear and will be asigned to an advisor later on.''

>Name , Surname , age (21)
>Trade/Craft

And at the bottom you notice the field for a
>''Familia''.
Those are groups of people who entered the
service of gods who decended ono this world
for whatever reasons and bestowed humans
with blessings that allow them to grow beyond
their normal limits.
The guild prohibits anyone without such
blessings from entering any deeper than the
first level of the dungeon as it is too dangerous
for ordinary people to venture any deeper.

You haven't gotten the chance to join such a group as of yet but something tells you that you'll manage.

After filling out the registration form you hand it to the grumpy elf.

''Okay, so it's Randell Star.
Here's your adventurers tag.
Please go through the dor to the left of me and await further instructions.
Oh, and DON'T DOZE OF again.''

With a sharp reminder you step through the dor entering a corridor that leads to some sort of Gym.

After entering you are greeted by a burly human man who is overseeing recruits training with spears and training dummies.

He shifts his attention to you and start ordering you right of the bat.

You there boy, pick up a spear from the rack and put the pointy bit into that dummy over there.

Roll 1d100 for training success.

You may gain the following with good rolls:

>Basic Spear mastery on anything of 50 or more. Adds +5 on rolls when we use a spear.

>Apprentice Spearman on anything of 90 or more. Adds +10 on rolls with spears.
>>
Rolled 6 (1d100)

Rolling for the ability to use pointy sticks
>>
>>875687

You pick up what you think is a well made spear from the nearby rack and approach the training dummy.

Trying to show of your ''awesome'' sparwork yo try to make a flashy move which only ends up with the spear leaving your hands to embed it self into the wall behind the dummy and your face planted onto the ground.

As you get up with a red face you hear the instructor trying to maintain his controll and not laugh at you.
Well at least he tried untill he started rolling on the flor with his legs in the air.

''Ah you're killing me man! HAHAHAHAHAH''

After a good minute of laughing at you and drawing curious stares from the other novices he finally calms down enough to tell you:

''Okay mister Wall-slayer ..pfft.. let me show you how to take a proper stance. At least it wil prevent you from doing this kind of embarassing thing again.''

You spend the next hour or so stabbing at the dummy and getting berated enough so you don't make any terrible mistakes but not enough to make you a competent fighter.

''Okay. That's enough. Let's leave it at that.
Come pick up that shortsword instead over there and try to not slay any more walls.''
>>
>>875712

Maybe shortsword will be better.

This time followed by the curious gazes of your fellow novices you try and maintain your composure swapping out the spear for a shortsword.

You approach the dummy and manage to stab
it but what follows is the wierd sound of metal
breaking as you know it from your time fixing
hoes and plows as an blacksmith apprentice.

The sword shatters and sends a few shards flying your way fortunatley only grazing you.

The instructor immediatley rushes up to you to check up if your okay.
Visibly relieved that you only recieved a few scratches on his watch he tells the others to wrap up practice and motions to you to stay back with the next group.

''Sorry kid. That sword got mixed up with the practice weapons.
It should have been on the scrap metal heap long ago.
Stay back and i'll teach you with the next group and i'll add a litlle bit extra since you have trouble with your body coordination as i see it.''

You two chat as you wait for the next group and he shows you the following:
Basic footwork and boxing
Basic spear technique
Basic swordsmaship

>>
>>875783
As you slowly follow his instructions you manage to pick up a few things.
You don't really learn how to box properly but it does help you fix your posture when using a sword and spear.
You seem to have the basics down and the instructor nodds with sattisfaction.

''Wall-slayer boy, come here.''

You hear him call as you finish up your practice.

''You did well. Most only learn barely the basics of one weapon when they come here for the first time but you learned two. Guess that sword breaking was your lucky break eh.

Could you keep quiet about the sword breaking when you get to the advisor?
I kinda can't afford that blunder.
In turn you may come here after work and learn a thing or two from me.''

What do you say?

>Sure
>Write in
>Be a douche
>What's your name anyway? Introduce your selves.
>>
>>875807
>Sure
And stop calling me wall-slayer, names Randell
>>
>>875807
>Sure, but could you just call me Randell?
>>

>>875824

''Name's Jan.
Glad we got that straightened out Walldell.
Hm, when you go to the advisor ask for a lass named Maya to be your advisor.
She'll make sure you make something out of your self.''

Too irritated to correct him you go through another corridor where you are assigned an advisor.
After asking for that Maya girl you met a bored looking young woman...with cat ears.
Guess it's true that all the various races can be encountered in this citty.

''Allright let's get this done quick.
From the files it seems you don't have a familia so don't bother going further than level one as you'll be stopped by the guards if you try to do so.
Most monsters of lvl 1 are just ordinary non-poisonous giant vermin with rare sightings of single kobolds and goblins.
Just be carefull of your surroindings and you should be fine.
All monsters posses magic cores you may exchange for money with me when you get back up.
Don't destroy them.
The corpses will dissapate into dust when killed but parts may be left behind and those materials can also be exchanged either with me or on the market.
Here's a leather armour, a spear and a shortsword for your basic gear.

When you are done for today come back here and we will chat more.''

And thus you were still dazed as she suffed your hands full of eqipmenet and sent you out of the room back into the main hall.

Guess she has a lot on her plate and not much time for smallfry.

Dressing your self quickly in your new armour you pick up your pace and descend onto the first flor.

Roll a 1d100 for the encounter.

Jackpot you found a lone Kobold and it hasn't noticed you despite beiong only less than 10 meters away.

These dog-lizard things usually operate in packs and are fairly vicious but also dumb.
A single kobold thus makes an exelent target for you.

What do you do?

>Sneak up and survey your surroundings
>Distract it by throwing a rock and then charge it

Remember you have a +5 bonus on rolls with both swords and spears as you got the basics down.

You decide that directly approaching it isn't smart if you want to murder the shit out of it as it might just run away.

You instead throw a small peble to its other side distracting it enough for you to get close and get in a hit without it retaliating.

You manage to get its leg so it won't be doing any running any time soon.

Semms like yor first attack was more effective than you thought.
The kobold barely moves as you slowly stab it into the other leg, abdome and finally throat.

That was quick.

You watch as as it slowly fades away into dust with the only things remaining being a small thumbnail sized jewel and a thin bone the size of your hand.

>Lizard Hp - 2/5
>Randell Hp - 10-10

You may get bonuses for employing tactics.

Deciding not to gamble your life you scram as fast as you can hearing some roaring from the spot you just killed that lizard at.

Phew.

Well that went well.

Keeping in mind to keep a distance from the area you been at you decide to wander further of.

And as you turn another uneventfull corner you find a BULL FROG munching down some GOBLIN in its mouth.
From the looks of it it hasn't noticed you yet.

The Bull-frog is tha strongest/largest (2 meters tall) monster on this level and often avoids adventurer opting to feed on the weaker monsters instead.

We don't know much beyond what monsters were written to be on the first level on a plque we saw.
This is however the tutorial for the quest here.
These are just normal threats any ordinary human with minimum practice and being carefull can take care of.
Most of the monsters here are nuisances and pests in the outside world as well.

Any way.
You decide to get the jump on this thing.

Steadily you move your self into position and throw your spear at the things back.
And hit it did.

It spat out the half-eaten goblin after having its back skewered by your spear.

Looking angry it is slowly charging at you while bleeding strongly out of the wound.

The other Kobold while enraged tries to maw at you but you draw and interpose your sword in what seems to be a practiced motion slashing at its face and forcing it to shrink back.

Their bodies fade away leaving behind:

>An ordinary Thumbnail sized Black Magic Stone

Digging through the Goblin corpse you actually find an OBSIDIAN DAGGER and 4 more Thumbnail Sized Magic Stones.
Seems like the Gob imitated the adventurers or something...
Not that you care anyway as you head back out.
You have only your Iron Shortsword and this little stone dagger here as weapons and don't feel as confident with the shitty gear.

Making a run for the exit you finally pass the guards who give your bloddied appearance a disgusted look and immedateley kick you in the direction of the guild showers to wash up.

That being done you head to that Cat-person advisor...What's her name again? Maya or something... She kicked you into the dungeon rather quickly. Hopefully she will actually try to speak to you this time.

As you enter her office you find her doozing of on her chair.

>Here's the stones I found and here's what happened...also the goblin was trying to be an adventurer.

''A goblin tried to become an adventurer? Are you shitting me or something?''

Anway

''Hm, you did pretty allright for a newbie. These magic stones you brought back with the exception of the Azure one are called low grade magic stones.''

''The Azure stone is a low grade water stone which is quite rare on the lower levels as it contains elemental water energy.''

''These magic stones are used as fuel and parts in many household items and tools these days so the pay for them is decent.''

''For each low grade magic stone you will get 5 Silver Pieces. (70 SP)

The low grade water stone alone earns you 50 SP.

Hm that lizard skin, frog eye and kobold bone are low grade alchemical ingridients.
You can exchange them for a 40 SP total.

That Obsidian dagger is a natural weapon rarely found on the lower levels but it's pretty damn impossible to sell as anything other than a souvenir as obsidian breaks easily. (2 SP)''

''You earned a total of: 1 GP and 62 SP''

Almost covered the cost of joining the guild... And that's a weeks worth of wages just for pummeling some goblins...

Guess being an adventurer pays.

What will happen if you get a Divine Grace then when you are allowed to enter deeper into the dungeon.

''Well since you made a decent haul i can advise you to seek out a Familia who's recruiting. If nothing else you can start of as a supporter untill you get stronger and gather expirience. I also advise you to get better gear.''

''Now get out you PIG.''

Doing as you are told you leave her office and re-enter the great hall.

You see the Elven guy on the sideline waving at you and giving you a big thumbs up...

Guess he actually believed your story...

Nevermind.

''What am i supposed to do?! I lost all of my money. Hey Kazuma lend me some money! I need it for some of the Soumas Vine!''

''Not a chance bitch. Why don't you sell your self to a brothel instead?''

You decide to browse the rest of this store first.

There are 3 other side-rooms.

>Blemished goods
>Ironwood
>Crystal-Silver

The Crystal-Silver section leaves you dazed as the gear here is made out of a silvery glass-like material with starting prices of 100 Gp for a fucking dagger.

The Ironwood is a bit less expensive, deailing with imported goods of elven make.
Ironwood is a magic sort of timber that does not burn and can be worked like iron.
When properly treated it is as hard as steel while being as flexible and light as wood.
The prices here start a bit cheaper at 10 Gp per dagger.

And finally there's the blemished goods section that sells stuff at a discount for having some errors like chipping and the like while still being fairly usable.
There's also some goods that didn't really sell so they were discounted here.
The price-range here varies wildly.
Maybe you'll find some good stuff

> A set of 3 Steel Chakrams in mint condition that probably never sold - 4 Gp

>A pronged spear-head made of some azure colored metal - 3 Gp

>Some Yellow and Black metal bracers with a dartfrog colour scheme - 2 Gp - unknown material

Guess you'll have to expand your knowledge as a smith since you only learned how to work basic metals like copper, bronze, tin, iron and so on.

You head to the cashier and purchase the Spearhead.

It's named '' River piercing spear ''.
Made from water Jade.
Extremely durable but not as easy to sharpen, you need to spend almost an hour to get it sharp but it'll keep the edge that much longer.

Remaining money: 3 GP 62 SP

''Sure just be sure to actually buy something.''

''UNCLE. Behave your self. Now customer this shelf here has our weapons and armours, while this one has one use magic talismans , this shelf has medicines and the last one has Taoist scriptures.''

>The weapons are solid, mostly steel stuff of average make as you see it. You see quite a few quarterstaves which is perfect for your speer-shaft.
Quarterstaves go for 50 SP.
Short Cleaver sabre for 2 Gp.

>The armour is mostly leather stuff but better than the one you wear.
A nice set that dresses you from head to toe goes for 3 Gp

>The medicine shelf has some basic Health recovery potions and Magic recovery potions along with some cures for common disseases like constapation and diarhea.
Most go for 30 Sp per potion.

>The talismans are something similar to magic scrolls, just in different forms and can be activated from further away (10 meters) making them excelent traps.
A basic ''Fire snake trap'' talisman costs 90 Sp.

>Taoist scriptures... You never heard of this stuff but it's mostly books about natural science and human anathomy detailing some training manuals as well. Fascinating stuff really.

Body cultivation manual - Carp jumps the golden gate - 2 Gp

Human anathomy and basic treatment to varied conditions - 1 Gp

And other various stuff in this particular shelf you'd need to research deeper.

For now you decide to buy a quarterstaff and a health potion.
The books within the Taoist scriptures draw your attention but you decide to visit later again when you actuall have some money.

Speaking of which, you still have to look for a place to stay at and a familia to join.
Maybe you could read a book or two for free if you joined this ''Monkey Kings'' familia.
They do look like they could use a hand and you are a trained blacksmith allthough you mostly worked with farming tools you could still forge a decent spearhead or dagger.

You guess that asking won't hurt you.

''Um mister?''

''Zuo Chan.''

''Mister Zuo Chan, i heard that this shop is actuall the part of a familia. I actually registered as an adventurer and was looking a faction to join.''

''Oh free labor? Please do continue...''

Somewhat nervous of his lack of sincerity just as you are about to back out his nephew starts to berate him.

''Unlce you can't act like that to a man who might join our familia. This is how you scared of most of the other applicants.''

''Fine Jackie... Let's listen him out then on what he has to offer.''

''Well actually i'm a blacksmith by trad and could forge weapons for you if you have a workshop. I also learned the basics of using a spear and sword so i should manage in the dungeon by being carefull enoug.''

Just as the old man is abut to open his mouth you hear the door crashing in and loud laughter comming from a man with Sharkteeth?

Well why the fuck not.
At least you get a free drink.

The old man just sighs at this and starts bringing out wine-grouds to the table for you to drink.

''So do you know that once you join my familia 10% of the money you get is automatically deducted at the exchange by the guild to send to my treasury?
Also once you recieve my ''Grace'' you and your descendants won't be able to leave my familia unless i permit it, understand?
Ah someone has to pay for my high life and to keep this shop running afterall.
But anyway all the scriptures will be open to you and that Jackie guy can teach you some neat stuff.
If you do work our old forge you'll only need to do it for one week each month since we don't get a lot of customers anyway.
You also get a place to stay at in the attic-room. Ah the great me is generous''

He seems like a nice enough guy, even if a bit narcissistic and the conditions are allright you guess. You also get access to a martial instructor, the heap of books here and a place to stay at. Not bad for your first day.

>Do you agree?

Changing your familia is difficult but doable so you don't loose your option to leave but it will require a quest.

''Brat, do you know how hard it is for someone joining another familia? The general guidelines of being ''Owned'' by the God of the familia always stand and the 10% income tax was designed by the guild as an universal rule to avoid conflict.
We may be a bit poor but i let my members do as they please as long as they obey the basic rule to not betray one other and not harm the innocent. Other familias treat most of their members like slaves not worth even the dirt under their boots.
As for the offer the Handsome Me gave you it's only a one time thing.

Well then strip your shirt and turn your back to me. I'll impart a divine tattoo on your back that will serve as my ''Divine Grace'' and you shall repeat after me: I hearby swear...''

As you repeat line after line you get embarrased and notice the old man snickering while holding a talisman in yor general direction.
''I hearby swar to serve the Glorious Magnificient and Super Handsome Monkey king Lao with both mind and body...''
