Welcome to Volkanite Dwarf Civ! During the first thread we created the Volkanite Dwarves, a splinter group of Dwarves that left their mountain clan and decided to strike out on their own. They now reside in a mountain, and much has passed in these past eight years.

>Ensure Dwarven pantheon is pacified and restructured into a united family with room for future gods to prevent something like this happening again. Let Marius do the talking.

It was a harrowing night. Marius had returned from the college after an intense amount of meditation. He called for the council urgently, and they gathered quickly.

"My friends, I have had a vision from the gods."

They all gasped before falling silent. The gods have contacted them? For what purpose? Marius answered that question.

"They spoke to me about the growing divide coming between us. Of how we had been worshiping them, yet also getting angry at each other for whom we worship. They are displeased with our mistrust in each other as a clan. As a family."

The priests lower their heads in shame.

"But they told me of what we must do to mend these ties. They want us to treat each other like family, just as they are a family themselves in the heavens. Sverkas, our lord, is one of the sons of father Magmos and Mother earth. They are together a family, and wish us to follow that example."

The room stays silent. For a moment, it seems as if the priests would explode again with shouts of heresy......

Heljik speaks.

"Perhaps there is truth in your words, Marius."

The evening goes on peacefully, as the council discusses how to change the pantheon after so many years of dedication. It will take a long time, but it can be done.

>Allow the farmers project to continue next year after we stocked up our food storage first to prevent famine.

The plan is set. Food begins to be stored for the next year.

>Research METAL magic and metallurgy in general.

The College gets to work on researching possible magic with metal. The study will take 2 years to finish.

>Put a farmer and a mage on botanic research of useful plant life in the surroundings.

Research is begun, which will take a year to finish.

>Have our warriors host mock battles for entertainment and to keep our population /fit/.

In order to do so, an arena must first be built. Some warriors send in a request for one to be built in order to host these fights.

>EVENT 1
Scouts return from the expedition and report the existence of a growing group of bandits in the north east.

>EVENT 2

>Slay the bandits in the name of the gods!

Blutig immediately suggests going to war with the growing bandit menace. Most of the council agree, with the exception of Marius. Instead, he suggests first growing their own forces before attacking the bandits head on. In the meantime, sabotage runs could be useful.

>Deal with the prince and cleric for profit and friendship

The visit goes well. The Prince, a man named Androm, is impressed with how the Dwarves have managed to make a life inside the dormant volcano. The Cleric stays silent for the most part, but she seems to have this hint of a smile on her face when she sees the statues the Dwarves erected of their gods, and how all the Dwarves are able to worship together with little conflict.

The Prince offers to increase trade deals with the Dwarves, and offers an alliance on behalf of the Kingdom of Mirai. The Cleric offers to send people of her faith, the Church of the Sea Maiden, to assist the College in its studies.

>If you want to accept the trade deals, then you will need to have a constant supply of minerals and such to trade with Mirai. The pay off is that you will be able to gain tools, weapons, and items that would normally not be available nearby.
>If you want to accept the alliance deal with the Prince, then state three terms of the alliance. These terms must be reasonable.
>If you want to accept the Clerics offer, then you will have an increase in population, as well as an intermingle of faiths.

>Chisel a mighty statue in representation of the Volkanite family spirit

Marius decides to give the guests and the Dwarves a show of their spirit. Standing atop a podium, he breathes in and out deeply. He begins moving his hands, mastering the earth and making it move to his will. The result is a show of stone and magma coming together to create a large statue full of smaller figures. Each figure represents the Dwarves whom left the mountain clans long ago to make their own existence somewhere else. They climb the volcanic stone, picks in one hand and helping their brothers and sisters with the other. None above or below in stature, but helping each other as equals. As a family.

When he is done with constructing the statue, the Prince nods in amusement while the Dwarves smile knowing that they have not failed their ancestors in sticking together as a clan.

>Have a feast, you can never have too much feast
A Feast is held in honour of the visiting guests. However it seems people have eaten more than was necessarily put on the table. The Prince and Cleric enjoy themselves none the less. They leave by the next day.

>EVENT 1:
The College sends a letter to the council. They have made a break through in their studies on earth magic. ([Earth 2] Becomes [Earth 3])

>EVENT 2:
A few days after the royal guests have left, an ominous rumble occurs in the Volcano. No one was hurt, but many are wondering if something has happened. Did they anger the gods? Did the guests do something while they were here? Or......Is something waking up?

>Choose how you want to deal with the bandit menace that is growing in the north.
>After that, you have 5 actions independent of the deals.

>Choose how you want to deal with the bandit menace that is growing in the north.
Placing traps on the areas closest for them to get the biggest quantity of materials on, so when they go they loose troops and we slow their process down until building a formidable force.

>Actions:
1. Build that Arena that was requested before, sounds like a good plan.
2. Try to explore where the rumble came from, is the volcano going active again? Make sure it's not coming from the Unexplored Ancestral Keep, that'd probably be bad.
3. In case it indeed is coming from them, preppare an exploration force equipped for both stealth and defense.
4. Make sure that the guests leave with a small souvenir, it never hurts to have Allies.
5. Congratulate the College higher-ups, make sure morale stays high.

Accept the trade deals and the offering of an Alliance, Assure both him and the cleric that their people would be more than welcome here anytime, and that they will be treated with respect both as individuals as well as their religious believes. But urge them to not try to mess with the dwarven faith, gods be easy to anger/offend and all that.

>Build that Arena that was requested before, sounds like a good plan.

The request is approved, and the dwarves get to work on the arena.

>Make sure that the guests leave with a small souvenir, it never hurts to have Allies.

Unfortunately, the guests have left the previous turn. The gift, jewelry made from some of the rarest stones in the volcano, is sent as a gift through the trade trail. (-1 resources)

>Congratulate the College higher-ups, make sure morale stays high.

Congratulations are given, and the college returns the thanks through presenting notes on their expansion of fire magic. (Attunement [Fire 2] becomes [Fire 3]) (Lava attunement can now be advanced)

>Try to explore where the rumble came from, is the volcano going active again? Make sure it's not coming from the Unexplored Ancestral Keep, that would probably be bad.
>In case it indeed is coming from them, prepare an exploration force equipped for both stealth and defense.

The Council meets. The recent rumble and stir in the population has caused concern for the state of the mountain. Phil remarks on how the volcano could not possibly be returning to activity, as the low amount of obsidian shows. Dan fears that something might have awakened from the ancestral home deep within, coming to claim them all. The priests sorrow in the fact that the gods have not given them any answers through communion. They all voiced concern for what the rumble could have meant

Marius stayed silent. As if he awaited something.......

Suddenly, two Dwarves burst through the keep's doors. Its the expedition to the keep. What little remains of it, at least.

They hurry to the council, and spoke the sentence that confirmed Dan's fears.

There is a Dragon deep within their ancient home, and it has awoken. It is larger than the ancestral keep itself, with wings that they claim could blot out the sun. The fear in their eyes and the scorch wounds on their bodies validate the reality of it all.

The council takes this news in silence. For a long moment, they remain silent as their minds process what this all means. For their history, for their people, for the volcano, and for the existence of the clan...

Blutig spoke first.

"Lets kill the damn thing, then."

>>864898
>>866114

The terms are set, and tie Clan Volkanite and the Kingdom of Mirai together in a formal alliance.

>Placing traps on the areas closest for them to get the biggest quantity of materials on, so when they go they loose troops and we slow their process down until building a formidable force.

The plan is set, and the scouts are sent out to deal with the growing menace in the north. They will return in a year with a report of progress.

--------------

>A colossal dragon now infests your ancestral home. You will have to find a way to deal with the beast, if you are ever to reclaim that territory. You must also choose whether to inform the populace of this information, or keep it secret until the dragon is dealt with.

>The Farmers complete storage of 16 food. Botanic research now begins, meaning that there will be no food created for the next 3 years. The stored food will provide for the next 2 years, meaning a years worth of food will have to come from trade. If minor hunger strikes at any time during this period, the Dwarves may begin to starve.
