Anyway, you tell her about how you're usually busy. You mention the gift and dragon speech, she says it's a shame you're not in her home country. She knows a little dragonic language herself, but back where she comes from it's not all that rare for some people to know it somewhat well. At the very least in common speaking, certain words and expressions are borrowed from that language, explaining her small familiarity with it.

Out of personal curiosity you mull it over, and can taste it as usual which you affirm it's quite good, but you also get a glimpse of her preparing it, and where the ingredients came from, her purchasing or obtaining them. You can't trace farther back than that though.

It gives you an impression of the room since a couple hours now, as you get a glimpse of Fera going about her day, doing chores and whatnot, and answering the door to someone for a little bit. It's all a very strange sensation, as if looking at the pictures of a book, but they move and you're in them, or at least your perspective is.

Sounds good. The goods are quite pricey because in the store there is both a flat "Commoner" tax which some elves don't think of themselves as, and then there's a tax rate for the different races, so you also have to pay both a "Human" tax and a "Dragon" tax.

Also all the labels and inscriptions on the cookware are rather derogatory towards the user if they aren't an elf. Also the shopkeep, an elf woman (you think) follows you around while making your choices and keeps going "Wait, really? THAT one? Well... if that's what you want..."

Well you put up a gallant fight to be sure, but you're unfairly outnumbered. While you scuffle with them though, your hood ends up getting pulled down and there's panic among them when they see your eyes and horns. You sense fear and suspicion among them at the sight, while one grabs you again to keep you from trying anything, and has a knife to you. The other two consider running away or beating you up and leaving you, but the lady with them suggests turning you over. They get a shawl from her and ask if you'll cooperate, or else they'll have to get violent again, as they seek to cover your head and lead you somewhere.

Well the lady isn't fighting, but that's what you get when you roll shit. How dare you roll shit.

Anyway they say you're smart for cooperating, and they wrap your head up so you can't see, then they lead you around for a little while. You hear and smell various things as you go, eventually some commotion and talking by them to someone else about having caught someone of possible interest. It gets warmer as you sense you're inside, where you're made to wait for a little bit, before the folks that escorted you in are made to take their leave and you feel yourself in much stronger arms.

About ten minutes later you're led to a different room you hear and the shawl is removed from your head. The place is kind of dirty and unpleasant, but surprisingly well stocked with things to make it seem nicer, furniture, decorations, etc.

You notice yourself being held by, and watched on by a few rough-looking guys, and find yourself sat at a table before, by contrast, a rather dashing fellow in smart clothes. He quite fits the part of charismatic gang leader, and asks you how you're doing this fine Decem eve, what's a pretty thing like you doing out in the evening and by yourself?

He also thanks a lady for something to eat and drink which he shares with you if you'll take it. He eats and drinks first to show it's not drugged or anything.

At the mention of a friend he's joined by a vibrant and peppy young woman, very attractive and friendly. She almost dances as she moves along, entering in from another room and greeting all the guys before crossing her hands on Alistair's head and resting her chin on top of them. She asks what he's up to but when she sees you she gets rather excited and rounds the table to meet and greet you. Her given name is ___? and she's very friendly in a touchy way, leaning on you and stroking your hair, checking out your clothes and complimenting you. She says not to let mean old Alistair and thugs scare you, they're not so bad, and anyway she wouldn't let them do anything too mean to you.

They used to be just a typical petty gang and mug people, stuff like that, but now they fancy themselves a little more professional than that, and figure the problems of people with money are more valuable than the coinage found by mugging drunks or robbing carriages.

You assume he thinks you're valuable because you're different. Amelie isn't as impressed though, but weirdly you can't sense anything about her. It kind of reminds you of the dragoness, you can only sense outwardly what anyone else might, that she's friendly and vibrant.

Getting a bit uncomfortable with her, you ask Alistair what's up with her. You welcome an answer, but as he opens his mouth, some black liquid comes pouring out on the table in front of you, from his eyes too, and he quickly loses composure and sort of collapses on the table like his skeleton was removed. Enough with the boys and their little criminal club, just you higher beings getting to know one another. Well it's hard not to feel at least a little on edge by Amelie getting so close with you, recalling similar experiences with Fera. However, you're able to keep a lid on any risque thoughts or feelings, so Amelie doesn't pick up on anything like that.

Anyway, you ask her about the problem of knowing your name, she says knowing it if she wanted to she'd have reign over you. It's not immutable but if you went against her then you'd be breaking rules and that would be bad. Just like her situation with Alistair, he could impose his reign over her but she chooses to cooperate so he doesn't have to, lest she break any rules. It's not a good situation to be in, but she doesn't have a choice, and just like how now you don't have a choice.

You tell her you're busy and have things to take care of, she says that makes sense and most mortals are. Understanding completely, she wouldn't want to keep you as she basically unwraps herself from you and gets off to return to standing beside. The process of doing so, as she moves apart from you, seems to take all the dimness with her and by the time she's standing beside you all the color has returned to the room and the guys in their varying states of nightmare suffering are exactly as they were and don't show any signs of anything to have occurred.

Alistair even speaks up, asking if you heard him? You kind of dazed out of it for a bit there, he thought you were daydreaming or something. Amelie beside you though, speaks and says it's fine, you were probably just confused still about everything going on. You weren't brought in here under the best circumstances of course. Alistair seems convinced, and asks you again about this Alicia you spoke of, what good she can do for them if you're not interested. He thinks if your friend is involved, you'll see in time how useful their work can be, towards anything you might need. He expresses to this, thinking you must be tired of like, being unable to do things because you're not a noble.
