You are in command over the Imperial Japanese Battleship Hyuga, starting at the very beginning of December 1941. Due to the will of players and that of the dice, history may go quite differently from what we know. For all intents and purposes, this is a wargame. It is incredibly important that you check the Pastebin link to familiarize yourself with the relatively simple dice mechanics, and to check it somewhat often as I may change important details of it as time goes on.

Last time on Hyuga Quest, it became quite clear that Midway is kind of like 'November Rain', by Guns N' Roses. It's a lot longer then I remember.

With Hiryu currently safe, but still heavily damaged, and your own ship damaged as well, there are a few options to be chosen as to how you move from here.
>Continue defending Hiryu
>Tactically retreat, with Hiryu following
>Move back in, risk your ship
>Retreat without Hiryu
>>799309
>>Continue defending Hiryu
We can't be losing carriers.
>>799309
>Continue defending Hiryu

Nice trips. If the rest of the battle plays out as in real life, we still lose 3 CVs though.
>>799522
You make a good point. Hopefully we can at least save Hiryu.

Let's regroup with CarDiv 1 desu

Mogami retreats while you stick with Hiryu, and sure enough, another flight of ten dive bombers has been spotted coming your way. There appears to be a clear split between them targeting you, and Hiryu, with five and five separating.
>Attempt to get them all onto you, place yourself in between their flight paths
>Stay where you are, hopefully you won't receive as much if any damage

>Stay where you are, hopefully you won't receive as much if any damage
We're hurt as well, so we shouldn't try to take all the fire, but we should provide support if we can.

>Attempt to get them all onto you, place yourself in between their flight paths
CARRIERS WIN WARS.
>>799868
Grudgingly voting to draw fire to ourselves. Someone could convince me to switch votes though.
>>799868
You move into their path, and sure enough, they shift their attention to you. Your AA crews ready themselves.

Although heavy AA fire from your ship and Hiryu knocks many planes out of the sky, one plane manages to get through.
>(Cont.)
>>800292
Luckily the bombs miss their mark, and the continued AA fire shoots down the plane shortly after it pulls out of its dive.
You receive orders to escort Hiryu out of the battle.
As you retreat, the radiomen report that Akagi has tragically sunk.
After the battle has ended, the American Yorktown was sunk, but at the price of Souryu.
>(Will return shortly, I desire food)
>>800342
(Gotta fix a typo real quick. On the last line, it's supposed to be 'Before the battle had ended, the American carrier Yorktown was sunk, but at the price of Souryu.'). Sorry about the error. writing now.)
So the Kaga survived?
>>800490
looks like kaga and hiryu did so far, yes.

You return to Kure on June 14th, needing some fairly heavy repairs, and with Hiryu on her last legs.
You have some varying options available as to the process of repair:
>Have resources focused on repairing Hyuga (Hyuga repair estimated to take 1 1/2 months, Hiryu is estimated to take 18 months)
>Have resources focused on repairing Hiryu (Hyuga repair estimated to take 4 months, Hiryu is estimated to take 9 months)
>Balance resources between Hiryu and Hyuga (Hyuga repair estimated to take 3 months, Hiryu is estimated to take 11 months)
>>800548
>>Have resources focused on repairing Hiryu (Hyuga repair estimated to take 4 months, Hiryu is estimated to take 9 months)

>Have resources focused on repairing Hiryu (Hyuga repair estimated to take 4 months, Hiryu is estimated to take 9 months)
Get that carrier back up and running.
>>800548

We're fine.

Looks like Midway was not as decisive as irl. At least it was a draw.
Wait, so the operation was a failure? We didn't take Midway, did we? Welp.
And our carriers didn't even knock out one of them. A wasted chance.

>Have resources focused on repairing Hiryu (Hyuga repair estimated to take 4 months, Hiryu is estimated to take 9 months)

They did knock one out.
Aircraft from Kaga, who was the sole undamaged carrier, sank Yorktown.
It was a draw.
At present, both America and Japan have one operational carrier in the Pacific.

We sank the Yorktown.
Never mind, misread.

Hyuga is out of the docks on October 20th. Hiryu will likely be in the docks until March.
Your ship is needed for yet another battle soon.
The defense of Guadalcanal.
>To be continued
>We managed to survive Midway, and next up is a battle that can be considered even more risky, as a certain pair of battleships will be present...
>Do the question asking and stuff if you have any, I'm all ears.

Now what?
>>800926
Thanks for running. Is the next session one or two weeks from today?
>>800997
Next Sunday will be November 13 which is when the battle was taking place. Interesting coincidenceor was it planned?

Coincidence

It's Washington and South Dakota, isn't it?

Maybe~
