The people of Hurisa are proud people. They believe in forgotten honour and valor in this age.

Unfortunately for them, The Empire desires their land and riches. It sends legions of loyal men and women to raise a new flag on this unspoiled land.

Unfortunately for you, you were the last man standing in your squad of twenty in the heart some unnamed jungle.. Their tradition dictates that the last man or woman fighting to the death is to be captured and ,later on, to be given a single chance to walk free.

Three fights in a small arena.

Three souls to send, so yours can be free.

.

Two weeks, you spent two weeks under some delicate care for treating your wounds. Their technology is savage, primitive and yet their treatment was ten folds better than any Empire's prisoner of war. You have heard enough tale about the grim fate of these prisoners. It was almost ironic at this point.

Personally, you don't have any problem with any Hursians. Yes, they have killed men and women you spent months with but they were just fending their land. You would do the same .You or rather the empire is the aggressor here with its feverish dream of endless expansion till the whole globe is swallowed in its borders.

.

Today is the day, One soul will be reclaimed.

"Uka! Tuusk kam shalameh..." the guard's words were heavy as bricks. It lacks the...composure of your mother tongue. He said something about living or dying. From your cell, He led you to a series of narrow hallway. The stench of foul Uukarii blood reeks from outside.

This is not good.

Hurisans are but gentlefolks compared to these cannibal savages. They are only human from outside, a primitive untamed beast lies inside this cage of flesh and bones. They are a constant blight upon their unlucky neighbors. Aside from dense muscular build, their true strength lies in their bombastic growth and birth rate. Adulthood? Only six months. how horrifying....

A table of crafted and salvaged weapons awaited you. The guard didn't need to talk; unless you are feeling suicidal, it is for the best to pick up a weapon.

You chose;

>Officer's greatsword [DEVASTATING ,FAMILIAR] [SLOW, SKILL, HEAVY]
> Soldier's spear [REACH, FAMILIAR] [HEAVY, BROKEN]
>Hursian Blood Dagger [BLOODLUST, LIGHT, QUICK] [ WEAK, FOREIGN,REACH]
> Hursian Blood Hooks [BLOODLUST, DISARM] [WEAK, FOREIGN, REACH]
>NONE [DISARM, SURPRISE] [SUICIDAL]
>>
>>749440
>Either spear or dagger
Hey man, long time no see. How you been?
>>
>>749440
>Officer's greatsword
>>
>>749440
>>Officer's greatsword
>>
You chose the spear, It isn't your weapon of choice since you are a marksman but you had some training with it in a distant past. The spear was missing a third through, it is more of a half pike or a makeshift javelin. the broken end has been sharpened though. Well, that's a plus....

No one was cheering for you or the animal in chains outside. All silent, their eyes like a hawk catching every twitch , every breath.....

There is no entertainment for the crowd. That is clear in their eyes. Two Hursian were struggling to maintain the already injured Uukarii.

It is odd but this is hardly an advantage. These hulks of men can survive worse injuries. If anything, it is more of a incentive for the beast to chew you to a mesh of bones and flesh.

Salt, A symbol of hatred, was poured on your foe. They despise this failure of proper evolution....more than you perhaps.

The chains has been set, the beast is free to roam . He rushes towards you, howling like a starving hound

[TERROR]

You are his little Morsel, You will be gnawed to the marrow

>Roll d100 to dispel the fear, best of out three same goes to whatever tactic you want to perform with the spear.

You will never die in your bed. You have already accepted this fact but you will not die today.

Not today.

[FAMILIAR]

The Empire has many foes. Masters of arcane, giants towering the battlefield, savages and so on. It was natural for the men in the field to fight something bigger and stronger than them.

Hence came the Greatsword.

Officers are usually well built to wield this monstrosity, They pass the basic techniques to their subordinate should they fall in battle. You crossed the greatsword against the beast's rotten teeth and talon-like fingers.

He bleeds. He growls. He gnaws against steel but he is slowly overwhelming you. This cross technique can not hold him any longer....

>>749532
Side step and let its momentum carry it past us, use that movement to assist us in making a drawing cut with the greatsword.
>>
>>749553
Your attempted to side step to break this status quo but much to your demise, The Uukarii toppled you knocking you hard on the ground.

His sole weight is slowly crushing your ribs. The greatsword is barely keeping him from biting your jugular. The foul stench of his blood didn't help either; nauseating, disgusting, distracting.

His eyes were either black or brown. Regardless, they showed the very basics of primal instincts.

Hunger.

Blood lust

The pressure will cave in your chest cavity soon enough. Your mind was racing for an action.

try to get on top of him and saw his throat with your sword?
>>
You summoned all the strength you have to get on top of him in one swift move. Your blade is inching closer to this throat.

closer....

Ah, now you see it.

Fear

A torrent of foul blood showered the arena. Hapless gurgles pleased the silent audience..

For a single moment, your foe forgot his fate. He yanked with his left hand allowing the greatsword to dive more into his flesh.

All for one last bite.

You withered and coiled like a snake on flames. Your shoulder is missing a sizable chunk. Still, you managed to stand up.

Victorious. Yes, you are.

The twitches are over. your monstrous foe is dead.

.

well that's one , we will continue in another time. should you want to see through the end of this one shot, follow me on twitter:

Thank you for your participation and sorry for being rusty.

>>749611
I must have dozed off. this doesn't happen very often,
>>
>>749655
thanks for running, your style looks like it improved a little, that's good.
>>
It hurts.

This chunk of flesh is never coming back. You had your share of injuries in your nine years of service. None too disfiguring though,

In the Empire, Loyal soldiers are aplenty....to provide adequate medical care to roughly a third of your population is not an easy task.

The commonest and the lowest of soldiers receive the very basics, a cruel reality in this evergrinding war of expansion.

Your wound was treated. You were spared of possible infection. This is by far one of any soldier's worst nightmares.

.

A new day has dawned, you were escorted from your cell to a small room. A set of crafted and salvaged weapons awaited you. You tried to ask the guard about your next foe....

He chose silence

[MANIPULATION]
[HEAVY]

The greatsword felt two folds heavier. You have underestimated your recent wound. Hopefully, you won't pay the price in blood for your mistake.

The crowd was somewhat cheerful and more lenient than last time. No salt was thrown...this is a nice sig-

No...

Your foe stepped out of the shadow from the opposite side.

An unseen she was.

Two centuries ago, the empire conquered a tribe which had envious ambushing, infiltrating skills due to some unknown arcane power running in their veins. Now, they are civilized ....they serve as the Empire's eyes and unseen daggers.

The woman in front of you was missing an eye. A recent injury you bet. She didn't have a weapon for some reason.

"What is your name, Soldier?" She asked, firmly.

"Jonah Letinus, Marksman of the 4th Squad of the 45th regiment." her rank was obviously way higher than yours. you spoke to her as if you are speaking to your superior.

"Listen Soldier, those savages....captured me in an most inappropriate time. I have a B-24 and I wish to deliver it. I order you to lay down your life for the glory of the empire. You name shall be remembered in this conflict, I promise."

...

This woman holds critical information....does this warrant your life? you are but a soldier serving the empire. you had none to came back to. You....you are conflicted.

>Lay down your life
>Fight for your life

>>751198
sorry.

You raised your sword against her. The unseen bit her lip "So be it."

Not a blink later, She almost became invisible, a faint silhouette can barely identity her location. She continues to leap around in an admiring speed bring confusion to your mind. Your eyes can see her everywhere around you.

[DISTRACTION]

keep the sword ready and swing at her when she approaches? there's not much we can do

Rolled 64, 76 = 140 (2d100)

>>751381
Swing the greatsword around in a circle, giving it as much reach as possible while we can still hold a good grip
>>
>>751392
>>751406
You held your ground, your eyes kept flickering. There was a pattern in her movement, your eyes studied it with great caution.

Alas she chose to strike from your back. At the right moment, you chose to swing the greatsword, its weight combined with your poor manipulation resulted in a poor swing that grazed her bare midsection instead of outright chopping her in half.

The unseen gritted her teeth, she backed away with one hand clutching to her recent wound.

She bleeds

"Foolish man, your death is meaningless. Mine is worth a whole lot of you." She was suffering to maintain her current stance.

The unseen flipped around you, aiming to coil behind your back and snap your neck. She ignored a small part of her gut spilling from her recent wound.

she's bleeding, we can see her.
make her impale herself on your sword?
>>
>>751466
The woman spent too long in the shadows, she fails to notice the obvious trail of blood. She thought it was her castle, her forte.

You proved her wrong.

"Hrk! aaah, you....you..." were her last words as you impaled her making a cross wound with the earlier one.

Another soul was claimed

Another soul is victorious.

There was no joy this victory. You ended the life of an eye of the emp-

An explosion rocked this arena. You can hear roars busting through the place.

Squads of marksmen, soldiers and even unseen swooped in massacring every Hursian with no rest of pity.

In a matter of an hour this arena is clear of the enemies of the empire.

A grand officer walks in after the fray. He and others saw the corpse and the blood on your hands. There was no need for words.

They weren't here to rescue you.

They were here to rescue her

You will be court martialed for killing an unseen preventing her to deliver some critical intel. ...and you will be executed once you reach the capital for your 'crime'.
. . .
End

Sorry for the length, I needed to warm up. This was a nice and short experience.

The real question is:

what do you want to see in the future?
>>
>>751532
well shit, bad end.

Idk, dude, sounds like you have a pretty good setting on your hands so make use of it.

I sure as hell enjoyed it.

(and maybe you should try running on anonkun, you might get more people there)
>>
>>751552
I agree with this anon. Setting seems interesting, and a jailbreak or redemption mission could be baller.

I've never followed one of your quests, so I don't know what you typically do, but some sort of bank robber/heist quest would be cool, too. Been wanting someone to run one, but no one seems to ever come up with it.
>>
>>751552
thank you

>>751658
i do a lot of things. most of them are failures due to my high ambition among other things.

i am thinking of some sort of episodic quests in the same world but mostly unrelated to each other.
>>
>>751716
Would that be this world by chance? Or did you have something else in mind?

What are some of the other quests you've run?
>>
>>751748
that is a long list:

>3 fallout quests
>1 xcom quest
>1 surreal quest
>Another surreal quest that failed from the started
>2 dark souls quests here on /qst/
>A sunless sea quest? can't recall
>and a lot of these mini skits like this which i actually completed

yes, the world of this quest. you know the usual tropes...you can't reinvent the wheel. i have learned that after numerous failures.
