“Good evening Viewers, my name is Ozzie the Alien, and welcome back to the Galaxy’s favorite Reality Television Show, ‘Civilizations.’ Last Season, we watched the the Anunnaki go from scared and confused lizard-people to Galactic overlords. This season, we’ll be uploading Humans, a pre-FTL species from the Sol System, into our Universe Simulator to see how they’ll fare.

“The rules are simple; a number of relatively small groups of Humans will be scanned and uploaded into a fresh, 1:1 simulated universe on a planet nearly identical to their Terra (the Human Homeworld) with randomized landforms, populated with native flora and fauna with some surprise exceptions. After that, we’ll hammer the time dilation button and watch all the drama unfold, all while casting votes to help determine the direction of their Civilization.

“Remember Viewers, there will be plenty of other groups of Humans placed on the planet’s surface that we won’t be watching all the time; we will only see the point of view and vote on the direction of Team 1.

“In order to help you keep up with what’s going on, we’ve added a helpful HUD system this Season. Remember you can vote to increase any of the 6 parameters; AGRICULTURE, INDUSTRY, MILITARY, ECONOMY, CULTURE OR SCIENCE. In addition, you can also suggest a specific development or course of action, which will be integrated if feasible (e.g. if they haven’t discovered uranium, how will they make nukes?). Here’s a preview of the HUD with definitions:

POPULATION: Raw Population of Team 1
GOVERNMENT TYPE: Government Type, if any, of Team 1
RELIGION: Religious breakdown by percentage
LANGUAGE: Linguistic breakdown by percentage

AGRICULTURE: Team One’s Agricultural output
INDUSTRY: Team One’s Industrial output
MILITARY: The strength of Team One’s Military
ECONOMY: Team One’s Economic output
CULTURE: Team One’s Artistic and cultural Output, also including Diplomatic strength
SCIENCE: Team One’s Scientific aptitude

UNREST: How rebellious Team 1 is feeling
>>
“ Remember, you’ll have five total votes on which groups will be on Team One. All groups unless otherwise stated comprise 100 Humans between the ages of 16 and 32 with a 50/50 gender split. Each Team Member will start with supplies include a backpack, three sets of clothing, a pair of boots, a canteen, a solar charged flashlight and three days of rations. The Team itself will also start with a storage container filled with additional rations (enough to last six months), some crop seeds and a few basic tools. Each group will also come with Bonus Supplies, the description of which has been included. For our first vote Viewers, please choose between the following:

1) United States Navy (Alaska, United States)

“For our first choice, it looks like you Viewers were split between the US Navy and the Kurdish Peshmurga. As the case with ties, priority will be given chronologically. Which means US Navy wins the first vote. Now to make that boat useful, we’ll make sure that Team 1 is placed on a coast. Vote Two begins now:

“Looks like voting is starting to heat up a little bit. Round Two goes to the German Agriculture Scientists. I’m thinking a foggy, rainy piece of continental mainland might suit Team 1 well. Let’s see our options for Vote 3:

“The University Students win the fourth round of voting. Now to finish up, we have one last vote. This one is special, in that there are only four options and all of them come with something big, at the cost higher risk. There is also an option to go with “nothing” for round five. A winning “abstain” vote will skip this round. Your choices are:

County Jail (Gainesville, Florida, United States)
A county jail outside Gainesville, Florida. The entire jail building and all its contents, including most of the prisoners and guards (400 people total), comes with the package, but lacks the basic supplies afforded to all previous groups.
Bonus: Jail Building
+ Military

The remaining 75 are Sudanese Nationals of unknown backgrounds. Medical Tents and supplies are included.
Bonus: Medical Tents and Supplies
++ Science

"Alright, let's get started then!"
A panoramic view screen clicks on and shows a drizzling field adjacent to a river, just a few hundred yards from the ocean. Unspoiled conifer forests line the view. Suddenly, roughly 500 people dressed in identical dark blue jumpsuits labelled TEAM 1 and wearing backpacks materialize, along with a shipping container and an old Irish Pub (complete with foundation, dumpsters and a wee bit of sidewalk). Though initially very confused, no violence occurs as the majority of the people realize that nearly all of them speak English, including many of the Germans. The more level-headed amongst them quickly start taking stock of supplies.
"Well Viewers, I'll shut up for now, though I'll be back occaisionally to provide my witty color commentary. Remember, you can vote to increase any parameter or to take a specific course of action. Depending on response volume, several votes may be implemented in the same Turn. Turns are set to last roughly one month at present, though this may change later depending on circumstances. Also, when the first vote responding to an update ends in dubs, trips, etc, it will signal a random occurrence. Odds will tend to be bad or mixed, while Evens (or double zeros) will tend to be good. The more successive numbers, the more extreme the event.

What should Team 1 do?

POPULATION: 500
GOVERNMENT TYPE: None
RELIGION: 35% Protestant, 35% Catholic, 30% Non-Religious/Other
LANGUAGES: 80% English, 20% German

AGRICULTURE: 2
INDUSTRY: 2
MILITARY: 3
ECONOMY: 2
CULTURE: 2
SCIENCE: 2

UNREST: 1
>>
We should start by having the german citizens learn english to get everyone on the same page.

This is my favorite episode of South Park.
