Hello visitor, welcome back to Arch. You wouldn't know to look but Arch has changed a lot in the last decade. The religious conversion to Eewa, a mounting war with Teronia, border disputes with Dailin.
>>Eewa http://pastebin.com/Tk6tGYDR
>>Teronia and Dailin http://pastebin.com/HYpu0tc7
While these events might test the cohesion of Arch the environment and people are much the same as ever, too old and set in their ways to follow on and play in the whimsy of the Voussoir
>>Arch http://pastebin.com/PXwAqXyc
>>Voussoir http://pastebin.com/BAPkPBtv
>>Everyday life http://pastebin.com/0XqJcuKU
The conversion to Eewa has brought in new trade but branded the priests and believers of the old ways as heretics. These same heretics have gone to ground, hiding in the crags and preaching of some impending calamity. While the Sherrifhood don’t see heresy as a particularly important crime the inquisitors are patiently working to weed out the old believers both in the crags and those hiding in plain sight.

The Key of Arch has finally decided to go to war with Teronia after all their recent campaigns, against now defeated allies. Facing existential threat, the army has redoubled their propaganda and recruitment

So, visitor, who are you meeting with?

>all meta, including codex, will be in green
>Codex entries are told from the character's perspective (note how the above are labelled 'visitor' as they aren't from any particular character) and serve as flavour and lore. Not everyone wants to read so much or so often, so pastebin-codex allows you to read what bits interest you and organically avoid bits that don’t. Naturally, information in codex posts can be used in the quest and could feasibly work out to be important in the grand scheme if they are integrated into ‘visitor input’
>When a fact becomes very important to the story I will offer a quick review from a character’s perspective, no codex required.
>I am looking for 1 or more characters to 'visit' over the course of the quest. I welcome custom characters, especially militaristic, theological, political or adventurous ones. If no free-written characters are submitted I will engage prompts to move things along
>Obviously ‘visitor input’ (player inputs) and what kind of characters are submitted/created will dictate which hook or hooks will come into focus as the ‘quest’

>input formatting guide to follow.
>>
Every Session will start with a short recap in the OP
Story is delivered in paragraphs and unless otherwise specified by prompts responses are open

##Responses##
Responses are formatted:
>intent
Action

Responses are capable and in many cases expected to cover both immediate intentions and the broader 'scene-tier' intentions
###

##Response example##
>steal the guard’s sword
Talk to him calmly and receptively. Wait until he is less on guard then slam my bottle into his wrist and pick up the fallen sword.
>run away from the guard house
Hold the sword toward the guard while stepping backwards. When I walk into the door, open it, drop the sword and run as fast as I can.
###

##Story example##
Aaron takes one last swig of his moonshine. He gives the guard a relenting smile, having dropped his own small dagger on the ground moments ago. Hopefully he should look more like a nuisance than a threat. He makes a show of inspecting the empty interior of his bottle before swinging the dull, thick square container down onto the guard’s wrist. Yelping in shock, the guard steps backwards. He still has a tight grip on his sword, to Aaron's dismay.
'this has been a bad night for plans' he thinks to himself.
At a disadvantage now, all his stunt has earned him is a couple more steps of distance between him and the guard. Time is of the essence. Sprinting towards the door and abandoning his dagger Aaron makes an attempt at escape. The sudden movement triggers the guard's well trained senses and frees him from the surprise that had him gripped a moment earlier. He's on Arron faster than expected. Although the door gives way its classic design and notable heft stop Aaron from slipping through the growing crack before receiving a blow. Unable to think about it, Aaron continues his mad dash, spared a few seconds by the heavy door's refusal to admit the armed and armoured guard as easily as it had himself.
Unwilling to push his luck by returning to the Inn, Aaron made ran in a loop at a sprint and jumped straight over the town wall stretching out of the guard house's own thick walls. Up and over, he could see the bushy slopes before him. A short dash and he would never be seen in that town again.

>Prompts for chara gen are up in 15 if no custom characters are submitted for visitation
>>
So visitor, can’t find who you were looking for? I wonder what could be the matter. You’re the first visitor I think I’ve met who has forgotten their assignment. Let me assist, please. Were they poor, noble or foreign?

>Foreign
>>
Ah, foreign you say? That should narrow this down quite a bit for you. Unlike neighbouring countries Arch sees little traffic. Were you looking for a merchant, an emissary, a sailor, a vagrant or perhaps a priest of Eewa?
>>
>>741223
>emissary
>>
holy cow what's wrong with you

no one is going to open that many pastebins
>>
>>741264
>They are side reading. Completely optional. As I said, they are to add flavour where you want it and when you want it. If you want to know about weather at a later date the Arch codex is still there. More detail less bloat.

###

Wafting in like bad smell you wind your way through the city streets. It is a rather large city. The whole thing has been built in an old canyon that seems to have been a quarry years ago. The buildings are made from a delicate and precise masonry that few masters outside of Arch could emulate. Gusts blow down the main road that crosses through the centre plaza. Clearly the great gates adorning either side of the city have not been closed yet. They are only open during the day as the massive constructions guard the entrances where the fissure broadens and the earth begins to steepen rising back up to the flat land. Cast your gaze lazily backward you can see a Teronian trader guiding a heavy cart of ores and uncut stones up a hill, occasionally yapping at his mules. Like him you had an appointment to meet. While his was with meagre fortunes yours was much more interesting. You meeting was with, Cyryl, the emissary of Dailin. Even as you turn he stalks by the city centre making his way towards an enormous and ornate portal. The massive entry way was adorned with a number of slate pillars carved from the smooth wall of the old quarry forming a ripple of artificial archways to sit below the collection of simple windows that stretched up the wall above.
The visitor matches pace sinking right into Cyryl’s step. Cyryl wore a pained expression. He didn’t want this assignment. He wasn’t a politician. He could accept being a general, for the greater good of course, but in his heart he was still a soldier. Thrill and duty, through and through. Entering through the archways Cyryl came upon a network of halls. Taking a now all too familiar path he waked into the Springer’s office. Springer Devlin looked over the main city making him as close to The Key as you could get. With a terse greeting Cyryl was motioned to an ornate wooden chair in front of a similarly ornate desk.
“Now Cyryl, you know we cannot commit any more men to the battalion in Dailin”
Cyryl did his level best stopping his eyes from rolling. He had wasted enough time in the capital, it was time to secure those troops.
>>
>The great portal: Cyryl http://pastebin.com/kt6PzNsP
>>
>As the thread has come to a halt I feel the need to try a different approach
>I will keep Cyryl running but as I said, multiple visitations was always on the cards.
>Thanks to the lad who contributed. I hope you find your way to the next thread. I really appreciated someone giving such a raw start the fair go.

>I will be posting a link to the new thread soon.
>I may also be rebranding the thread so that it has a catchier name
>I'll stop with the codex shit unless interest is generated later.

Thanks for playing.
