Welcome to Domain Master thread! This is a collaborative role playing experience for a few people to tell a story together. There is no GM per se, but instead you will create your own Domain, and be it's lord.

Once a few people have created their Domains I encourage everyone to begin "playing". Try not to do actions all the time, give other players a chance to catch up. That being said if 2-3 people are active in the thread then please keep it up. The "rules" for actions are:

Less than a 10 on a roll is a critical fail, where you do not succeed at the action you were attempting, and in fact must take major penalties. Come up with your own but try and be fair, don't just say “Well one of my troops tripped and broke his nose!”. Critical failures are extreme, massive parts of armies being killed by an ambush, a magical spell backfiring and blowing up wherever the mages were, etc.

11-30 is a fail. The action you were attempting does not succeed. The lower the fail roll the worse it is, but not on the same level as a crit fail. In a fight and roll a 25? Maybe you lose a soldier and the enemy loses none. Roll an 11? Maybe you lost 5 instead.

31-90 is a success, following the same rules as fails, the lower the roll the 'worse' the success is.

91+ is a critical success! Not only do you win the fight or whatever else you want to do, you get bonus stuff! Maybe the clan you were trying to persuade to join you was richer than you had realized, or had a magical artifact for example.

You get bonuses to rolls from your minions, broken down as follows:
>Mooks= +1 bonus per 5 mooks
>Elites= +1 bonus per 1 Elite
>Lieutenants= +20 bonus per Lieutenant
>You= +25 bonus
These only apply if the minions are relevant. Your bonus only applies if involved in the roll, e.g. you are using an attack or casting a spell. If you send merchants to another domain or neutral ground you don't get your bonus.

Perks give a +1 if they are relevant. This is a flat bonus, so even if you have 400 mage minions with a frost empowerment and you want to do a spell having to do with frost, it's just a +1 (However, you would also get a pretty hefty +80 from having 400 mages. Wait, where did you even get that many? Calm down, man).

This realm is told with hushed voices

Some fantastical tales surround this mysterious realm, nobody knows when or where it was created; it just simply exists. Protected by a construct of fire and metal, its name Stalker Sentinel. Even the residents themselves don't know much about this Guardian of the workshop, it is said he was here before even the city. Twice the size of an average man, this mysterious guardian watches over this city in all sectors, security, diplomacy, and economic matters. It is the head honcho, the face of the workshop, the head manufacturer and craftsman. All patents of technological marvel goes through the sentinel first before it's ever approved for sale and manufacture within the city and beyond it.

The sentinel doesn’t say much the head manufacturer and craftsman of the Astral workshop, as all of his commands are told by a human, supposedly the first to have reactivated him; Mark Steinly. This man in some ways can be called "Eccentric". He is the Sentinels right hand man, its spokesman if you will. Compared to the sentinel this man has a strange aura about him. Mark is the type of man who you can’t seem to hate. He is too cheerful even under dire circumstances he will never shout in anger nor cry with anguish, never will he cheat a man but never will he be content with the set price, he will haggle down even the greediest of dwarf. He just has a way with words. Seemingly everywhere within the city at once he will carry out errands for his friend the Sentinel. Yes friend, many who lives beside the venerable sentinel will occasionally hear them talking in a jovial tone, mostly stories of the past to amuse themselves, or the occasional odd encounters within the city or even deafening behemoth bouts of laughter coming out of the workshop. Very rarely will the sentinel come out of its dwelling, always toiling with gadgets and machinery. One day the sentinel may come out and bring out beautiful precisive works of gadgetry such as a cuckoo clock so precise light itself is said to be used as a measurement of time or a telescopic sight to look into the distant stars so clear as if you can reach it with your very hands, chariots that walks on its own at great speeds or even a box that stays cold to store food. Only in time of great crisis and upheaval will the sentinel have a change of tone in its crafts. Armour strong as diamonds, clothing impervious to even siege crossbows. Metal tubes said to crack with thunder itself. Never will he sell these death machines and never in such large quantities. When the conflict is over he will always come to collect his works; Always.
>>
>>72901

The city itself is a thing of beauty. Made not with masonry like many other cities but with metal and glass. This city isn’t like anything anyone have ever seen or heard of before. Nobody knows how to get within this city, tales of travellers accidently stumbling upon this glass city isn’t unknown. Take the wrong turn on Rockwell street in the city of Navoi? BAM right in the Alleyways of the workshop. Take the mysterious door in the alley of Yed town? Turn up in the sewers of the workshop. Lean upon a wall to take a swig in Sad Butchers inn? Fall down on your ass in front of the grande olde entrance of the workshop with towering constructs looming over you. Usually accidental stumbling upon this realm is rare but it happens. Most can simply get back to their realm by walking back into the same door, lean towards the opposite directions of where they leaned or walk back to the street you were in. To stumble upon this realm is said to be a once in a lifetime chance. Those who regret not exploring the fantastical city will try and take the same path they took before but find nothing but the same old street, door and wall. Never again to find the wondrous workshop. At the gated entrance of this workshop you will find 10 sets of doors. Many of these doors may lead to a shop, a stall, or even restaurants and cafes selling fantastical works of machinery or even a cold pint of ale in glass cups.

Welp here goes my first fluff hope its not too mary sue

The Balde Mountain steps was the home of peaceful mountain nomads and their herds. However, on the seventh equinox of the seventh era, High Bald Peak cracked open with the sound of thunder and released terrors previously unknown. The great demon god Kernagog had come to expand his empire to the mortal plane. He and his demons used all manner of magic, coercion, and war to subject the steppes.
The nomadic peoples resisted, but their demise was nigh. Kernagog was too powerful, his magic too divine like, his minions too numerous. Until the champion of the Nomads, Patri Rollak, stumbled upon ancient magic to defeat the God Demon. On the very top of High Bald Peak no less, Patri smote Kernagog's very being, and cast his demons to the realm from whence they came.
However, something happened that moment, as Kernagog's being came to posses Patri's body. No quite Demon, not quite Human, the man once known as Patri proclaimed himself to be the Sorcerer God, and claimed dominion of the Steppes. Many of Kernagogs soldiers fled to establish their own kingdoms in the demonic realm in wake of his demise. Other demons swore fealty to the Sorcerer God, believing him to be the legitimate heir of Kernagog. Notable among these demons is the Warlord Eros and the demon witch Herac.
>>
>>73207
Now blessed (or cursed) with the powers of the Demon God, the Sorcerer God uses all manner of Sadism, Trickery, Fear, and War to keep the Steppe peoples in check. However, he is only a fraction as powerful as Kernagog. He is constantly searching for the ancient magic rite that will allow him to fully realize the Demonic Godhood he senses and subjugate all realms.

>>73340
Ummm, dunno. Is somebody just supposed to start playing?

>OP pls give us guidance

Well apparently we are supposed to play but we kinda need a DM for this because the choices in complications are supposed to fuck our realms up and I don't think players are such impartial fucks to say "Oh yea treasure horde just gives me more money and + pop with no downside." Even when there are supposed to be downsides

fuck I'll just wait for OP to give the go ahead before I make my first moves

The Evertide Desert is a name known to all. The land is barren of all life, with no food or water to speak of. It never rains, the sun beats down hard upon its sands, even the few plants that survive there excrete venomous paste that irritates the skin and will kill a man if ingested. Long ago this realm was an expansive ocean that was just as treacherous as the desert it is today. It was filled with insectlike serpents that seemed to be miles long. Stories are told that these creatures live on today. Those stories are incorrect, as living would not describe the state of half death that they survive in. The sands they burrow through enter their pores, stopping the flow of blood in their veins, and the souls of ancient sailors fuel them as long as they stay within the great desert. Adventurers and conquerors are drawn to this great desert by legends of riches beneath the sands, guarded by the ancient worms and their spirits. None of them have survived long enough to confirm them.
>>
Can someone make a map of the existing regions?

>>
>>73396
>>73436
I mean, that's literally it. There is no DM. It's for the players to decide what happens when they roll well or roll bad. If someone is "cheating" then call them out on it.
>>
>>74082
oh fug

So no economy eh?
>>
>>74117
I mean, if you want to include it go for it. It's a collaborative role play "game". I will join in later I've just been unexpectedly busy today. Sorry I didn't explain it well you guys.

A very simple example is that I will send some scouts out of my realm southward. I don't need to roll for this since I'm not trying to DO anything. However, if someone decides to see/interact with my scouts then it gives us a chance to interact "in character", plus gives a rough estimate of where our realms are in relation to each other.

Now, let's say me and another character have met and I like them, so I want to give them a gift. I can have some of my craftsmen and mages make a magical tool, say a bow or an amulet, it doesn't really matter. I would then roll dice and add the appropriate bonuses from the minions I'm using. Sometimes you wanna use all you have, sometimes you want to leave some "in reserve" (never know if you'll crit fail!).

so I'd dice+1d100 in the options field, and add the bonuses to see what happens, then describe it in my next post.
>>
>>74161
Archronus is a lich who froze himself and his kingdom in ice during ancient times. His spell's duration has finally come to a close and he is curious about the 'new' world around him.

So my first in character decision is to send 10 of my Undead Average scouts south, out of my realm, it had been many years since I had encountered living beings before the spell, let alone all this time since then. I am eager to see if any still exist on this world.

>>74161

So, this is a critical success! Nice. So when it's something kinda open ended like that, a good suggestion would be you just decide which realm you came across instead of letting it go to chance/another player. Or you could simply find "npc" kingdoms/cities/whatevers and trade with them, since it's an exceptional success you get a great deal of stuff from them. Like I said it's pretty free form, and ultimately you decide what it is. Just don't go too easy on yourself for fails and vice versa for successes

The Golden Wing was once a unbelievable rich kingdom, until an ancient dragon from eons past said 'fuck this i'm hungry' and burned the absolute shit out of the kingdom with demonic fire magic that cursed the land to eternal blaze. After building up a massive harem and birthing enough dragon minions, he slaughtered the harem and attempted to ascend to godhood, but failed miserably. Crippled and hiding within his massive treasure horde, he lets his mate, the Golden Queen, and his eldest son and overseer, Dragonlord Ghasarm run the kingdom until he can find a way to become whole again and make more shekels.

When your merchants get to the snowy plains they see no cities, or even landmarks. After many miles of travel they see something on the horizon, that looks to be something not natural, for once.

Soon after, some humanoid figures appear, traveling towards you. As the groups continue to travel you make out ten distinct people. They are wearing robes and other loose fitting clothes, not at all appropriate for the weather or location. They stop and watch you when you are less than a hundred feet away.

While at first your merchants talked with chittering teeth and shivers, after a few minutes they started getting more confident, and didn't even feel the cold for a time! They spoke of the wonders they could trade, foods, weapons, and who knows what else they could find!

After giving their proposal the ten people stand silently, then one turns around and begins jogging back the direction they came. The rest slowly walk towards your caravan and inspect the goods. You automatically notice something isn't quite right about these people, but it takes you a few moments to realize it. There's no steam coming from their mouths. They aren't breathing at all.

>>75781
I don't think a single merchant would make it that far into my city to begin with haha, but to keep the thread moving we can do some role play.

As your merchant walks into the castle, his eyes are immediately drawn to the once-living man sitting atop the throne, eyes a pale white, staring at him. "Speak, thrall. Tell me of your master, and why I should care at all to begin with."

I mean, I see size bonus as more of a "health" thing, and to a certain extent "defense" as well. Like, a petite character would get wrecked by most things, but its so small its hard to hit, and vice versa. A colossal has tons of hp but is easy to hit to make up for it.

When Dante had reached the 9th Circle of Hell, he encountered Satan himself. Satan is trapped in the 9th Circle, his waist down trapped beneath unbreakable ice as his punishment by God. Satan, impressed that a mere mortal was able to brave all 9 Circles of Hell made Dante an offer. As he was trapped in the deepest depths of Hell, Satan could not directly rule over his realm. This is where Dante comes in: Satan offers Dante unfathomable power and the authority to rule over Hell in his name, all he asks for in exchange is half of Dante’s soul to insure his… loyalty. Dante agrees, and his form is twisted and corrupted into a half human, half demonic form of staggering power. Now Dante works to reorganize Hell and to expand its powers, while preparing from the eventual divine retribution.

One day a sorcerer of unusual power had a vision. She never knew where it came from, the future perhaps, or another world entirely, but what she saw inspired her. She had a vision of an advanced society based in freedom, based on the idea that every person, of any race or background, had the right to choose. It was so beautiful, she knew she had to replicate it. But she did not just see wonders in her vision, she saw it's flaws too. Even in a society based around freedom, some still sought to use force against their fellow man. And in a society where the only legitimate source of force was the government, it became a target for the corrupt.
She racked her mind, trying to devise a way that this flaw could be avoided, until it struck her. People made of flesh and bone were susceptible to corruption, even the most principled of them.
But a machine, she realized, was far more perfect than a man. A construct would be immune to the temptation to impose on someone else for personal gain. A construct would never give in on it's principles.
And so she created the Constitution, an incredibly intelligent and sophisticated golem, imbued with one overriding principle:
All intelligent life has the right to choose to do anything peaceful, anything that does not infringe upon the rights of other intelligent life.
And then she created beacon city, a land in a pocket dimension. She created it's myriad doors as well. But these were no ordinary doors indeed.
Anywhere you are in the world, if you wish to visit beacon city, and if you would follow it's laws, you can find yourself stumbling upon a door that will take you there.
But if you stand intractably opposed to the principles of the city, if you wish to betray it or plunder it?
You'll find yourself searching a very long time indeed.

Unfortunately, the sorceress' grand vision did not go without drawbacks. The stupendous strain of creating the city and it's doors have put The Constitution's mother in a state of near death. She resides in magical stasis, waiting for a day when she can be revived and see the fruits of her labor.

well, my leader was "flattened" but is still technically in titan mode (the city is on top of a mountain sized hill)

>In regards to the Realm

The Librarium Of All Things Knowledge is a multi-segmented realm; one which the minds anything not consisting of the Affinities of Mystic or Illusion - let alone both - or holding knowledge of either or both will have a nightmarish time exploring its existence.

This especially applies to the very first segment that all intruders of the realm must face: The First Steps Of Education.

Due to some decent enchanting, this very segment is pretty much akin to what you saw in that image of the Illusion aspect, except without sand, more white, 500% more stairs, and everything changes practically all of the time. Doors arise, doors shrink away, stairs grow from the walls, stairs descend, ascend, etc. Thankfully, the first segment is on an obstacle sheerly due to such a feature; those who are capable of handling such constant changes will easily swiftly breeze through it as though it were but a mere 12 steps worth of stairs, via which they may easily enter the Librarium Segment.

It should be noted, however, that those who are incapable of handling such a segment as the First Steps of Education are easily guided to the Jailings of Rehabilitation, a segment that upholds a depressing, dark color scheme with a disturbing design that mentally distracts casual mortals or the mentally weakest of angels/demons/etc. . Such a segment is even more enchanted than the First Steps of Education, as the very cells carved into it are designed from the ground up to contain anything incapable of fathoming (mostly) everything that is Illusion and Mystic.

Likewise, unless such captives are capable of significant amounts of self-education, they will be forced into mentally conditioning rehabilitation via the jailers that inhabit this segment, which will objectively condition their minds to a point where they wish to become loyal librarians that vow to never inflict damage upon or steal any of the books held within the Librarium.

Should anyone succeed at the First Steps of Education, or pass through the Jailing of Rehabilitation - one way or another - they will reach upon the true segment of the Realm that everyone strives to intrude upon: The Librarium of All Things Knowledge.

This main segment lives up to its name, as it beholds a design akin to the mixture of a Cathedral and some ancient library, with color schemes tied entirely around the color blue. The deeper that intruders delve into the realm, the more likely they are to find books of deep, deep knowledge about very peculiar fields of existence, such as A Guide To Appropriately Mentally Conditioning One's Self, or The Spellbook of Yore, or other such books.

But at the end of the Librarium resides the Quarters of Mh'odhra, within which the room is vastly larger than all three segments combined - albeit significantly and peculiarly empty, aside from a mere desk at the center of the room, upon which Mh'odhra almost always resides upon.

On alm[NReme]a:

For years dead bodies have been disappearing spontaneously -- almost vanishing into thin air. Realms have seeked help from those who hear the whispers of the void, and they all hear one name: alm[NReme]a. Its name lmost inscrutable and impossible to repeat, they only get a glimpse into what this realm really is, and it drives many to the brink of madness.

Thousands of dead bodies have been stitched together around large, colossal hearts. A powerful Necromancer, Rahn, known only as Anonymous to outsiders, has reanimated an army of such undead colossal. He has interpreted the inscrutable whispers of the void better than any other, and used them to guide him to an obscure, large, realm to grow his army. From this realm he pulls strings on the outside world, biding his time until his army is complete.
>>
>In regards to Mh'odhra and his minions

Mh'odhra is a Forgottone One who preferably specializes in Knowledge and Education; especially Education. His most commonly used form is that of a large Toad. Should the situation ever arise, he is also capable of transforming himself into an ancient book to blend himself amongst his collection of other ancient books to hide from aggressors. However, when he is confident that his aggressors are more than just common fodder, he is unafraid to express his true form: a terrifying mass of tentacles with other disturbing-and-potentially-unfathomable tidbits. Ironically enough, his size is not the most threatening feature to him, as his specialization in Illusion and Mystic grant him incredulous powers in said fields, such as illusions, arcane magickry, and even verbal persuasion.

Though, his Final Form also provides as a good source of Persuasion via Intimidation.

As for his minions, they all take on a more generously fathomable version of his form. Likewise, they also behold small bits of his power, such as the ability to make illusions of themselves and cast arcane magickry on levels nowhere near as high as Mh'odhra.

Mages are the primary Librarians and Enchanters, while Engineers maintain Book Shelves, Jail Cells, and the First Steps of Education while also making educational discoveries via scientific tampering with stuff.

The three Archmages advise the Sorcerers and Psions - who advise the Mages - while also advising the Engineers on what repairs to make or what fields of knowledge to explore.

Scouts are all spread thin around all three Segments.

Merchants await at the entrance of the Librarium to sell copies of decent books in attempt to persuade them from informally intruding on the Library.

20 Servants stress with caring for everyone, while the remaining five caretake Jeremy Rutherford and Mh'odhra.

Jeremy Rutherford - previously a mere nerd from his original homelands - is a prodigy that specializes in watching over the books and actually reading them as well. Quite astonishing for a 10 year old.

The Aspect of Knowledge nothing noteworthy; it just does things.

[Thanks. I like your realm.]

Rahn strokes the sick and dying Colossal, Dau'kruga, as his Witch, Ally, checks his vitals. He was the first Colossal Rahn every resurrected, and doing so took much of Rahn's lifeforce and gave him an strong affliction. Rahn would be dead in the decade, surely, despite his amazing powers to resurrect others. He was fine with this, of course, since he got Dau'kruga out of it, the largest, most powerful, and oldest colossal who would lead his army to conquer the Great Realms.

"Rally up the troops." He says. "Every last one."

"They are scattered across realms." Ally replied. "This would take weeks. Besides, we need more mage corpses to feed to Dau'kruga."

Rahn frowned. "Ally, don't take me for a fool. I know Dau'kruga is a lost cause. Something, or somebody has sabotaged us. How egotistical was I to think myself the only one able to follow the whispers? And now my beloved must pay the price... But that is fine, I knew what I was signing up for when I resurrected him the first time, and I know what will come the second time."

"You mean to resurrect Dau'kruga again!? Are you mad!? You'll die within the week."

"I know. We only need him for the final battle. And by then I will let the whispers pilot my body. Only then can I reach my Final Form, which will be necessary to take the Great Realms."

Ally frowned. "I will miss you when this happens."

"Rally the troops. We need to change our plans."

[In other news: is it okay if I quickly change my Jeremy Rutherford's Affinity to Illusion/Mystic?]

Jeremy roams the corridors of the Librarium, taking appreciation in the lack of trouble currently persisting within his realm - regardless of the whole Soon-To-Be-Imminent Apocalypse situation going on. Arms spread, he commences in his fun as he runs around pretending he is an airplane flying through the Librarium. Also, he makes cute childlike airplane noises.

He casually passes by a few illusions and non-illusions of Mages tending to the books, as they dust, double check for damage of any sorts, and make sure they are appropriately organized.

He eventually approaches the very entrance of the Librarium, where he finds the Aspect of Knowledge once again.

"Hey Mr. Aspect! How are you today?"

But the Aspect does not reply, for such questions are irrelevant during times of crises.

All the while, Mh'odhra sits upon his desk, pondering about whether or not there is a difference between Education and Brainwashing.

On the more important note of things: An engineer discusses with his superior Archmage on a particular subject.

"Sir, I've got a wonderful idea on a field of scientific discovery that we can probably divulge in. While I don't think it's the most superior of its sort, I -DO- feel that it can at least be the start of something amazing."

"And just what are you attempting to divulge in?"

"Scientific Teleportation."

"What's the point of that, when we can already teleport through arcane sorcery?"

"Nononononono, hear me out! You see, some people aren't as fortunate as us. Some people aren't capable of just teleporting to wherever they please. And even with us, we can only teleport within this magnificent realm. What I'm talking about, is a means by which ANYONE can teleport. Granted: to strict spots, but still!

"What do you mean?"

"Okay, so basically we make two big pads, make them decent enough to teleport anyone ranging from a crumb to a Giant, and just transfer their matter from one pad to another!

"I see, I see. Very well, I will allow you to divulge in this."

"Thank you, sir!"

Mh'odhra finally stopped contemplating such a topic as he remembered that there was a larger concern to legitimately be worried about: The imminent Apocalypse that may arrive unto his realm if he does not do anything about it.

In swift pondering on what to do, he croaks but once. He realizes that he has little to no minions capable of traveling outside of his realm, and that the only ones that can are either valuable assets such as his Archmages and his Best Disciple, or minions like his Merchants (And goodness, as an amoral god, the last thing he wants to do is disrupt the general public with grotesque cretins the likes of his Minions).

With such information in mind, he concludes that the likely best option would be to allow himself to explore the world for any allies that are more fitting to assist him in finding the cultists. As much as he would wish to educate his Best Disciple via exploration rather than reading, the last thing he would want to do is leave his realm untended. As much as the Aspect of Knowledge can handle its own, sheer power can only protect so much.

With but a single croak, he informs his two Companions that he will take temporary leave from his realm, that he must go alone to search for allies, that they must tend the realm while he is gone, and to make sure no one ever notices that he is gone.

Jeremy Rutherford giggled a little, as he found telepathic communication to be ticklish. But nonetheless, he understood and nodded - as not-before-his-eyes as Mh'odhra may be.

With that, Mh'odhra teleported himself to the entrance of the First Steps of Education, lept through the gate, and shapeshifted himself into the appearance of some royal Average-Height High Elf.

Seeing his merchants doing their job at the entrance to the Realm, albeit standing about due to a lack of visitors, he a stern glance beyond his southern stranded island - upon which his very realm's portal rested - northward, concentrating on where a good, discrete spot on mainland would be that he could safely teleport to without drawing any unnecessary attention.

>Rolling for if he finds a good spot.

>98 days later

"God damn did that take a long time." Rahn mutters under his breath as he prepares to go on his balcony to give his speech.

Allot has happened while rallying the troops. Dau'kruga died, still of unknown causes, but scouts have discovered what they think is evidence that somebody entered the realm to poison him. Rahn is bitter.

"Servants!" He yells, at the kingdom below him. alm[NReme]a was an obscure realm with few inhabitants and leagues of uncharted land, though there was one abandoned kingdom of a time long ago. Rahn captured it, and now uses it to hold his Colossals, and currently as a place to keep his troops as he regroups them.

"You have all served well. Stealing bodies of the most powerful, wealthy and intelligent, for my creations. Look upon the gods you helped create!" The Colossals roar as Rahn raises his hands. All of them are composed of thousands of dead bodies.

"This part of your jobs is complete, and was a success. However we will not conquer the Great Realms will Colossals alone. No, we need a land. A people! We must unite with another realm!"

The crowd cheers below. Rahn goes into a coughing fit, until he finally coughs up blood. He pulls a vial of anecdote out and drinks it. He can only put off his affliction for so long...

Deusrius, Lord of the Undying Lands, started as a Great Wyrm Dragon. In his lust for power, he courted with the demonic and eldritch, becoming an Old One/Demon Lord. Despite this, he takes a fair approach when dealing with his subjects. He has great magic power combined with advanced technology, along with the power to manipulate life and unlife. He has a final form which is terrible to behold. It is titanic in size and an unholy mixture of dragon/demon/unknown. His mortal minions command the mystical powers and can manipulate all the tools available to them, including robots and guns. The land thrums with life energy, healing and infusing them. Whatever dies, is then raised as undead to continue their service.
The realm is surrounded by a 10,000ft high, 100ft thick magical steel wall with automated magitech gun turrets and robot sentries patrolling in/on top/around it. The land is clear to Deus's minions but foggy and mindbending to intruders. The land is overrun by hostile vegetation, filled with swamps and bogs, and populated by mutated animals, monsters, and undead. Magic golems and robots patrol unmolested. The skies are filled with floating islands.

Rahn calls a meeting with his Psionics after the speech.

"As you know, I'm looking for an ally. I'd prefer not to send troops by land to meet with the leaders of other Realms. It is simply to cumbersome to leave this shrouded land, and our time is running out, as my coughing fits remind me."

Conveniently, Mh'odhra finds the perfect spot to appropriately blend himself in amongst the local crowd that resides within the mainland.

However, seeing the distant rabble-rousing taking place within the distance (as is a bit difficult to not witness when you are literally like a good couple of miles away from the action), he internally summarizes that he will be more likely to find his answer amongst whatever small traces of peace may reside within such a conflict.

Objective in mind, he goes down some random alley, making sure none are watching before transforming into a non-monstrous toad and teleporting to the local jungle swamp realm, within which he blends himself in with the local toads.

He perks his metaphorical ears up for any psionic messages that he can conveniently tune in on.

Mh'ordha groaningly croaks at the hearing of the word "void". After all, Z'aggdosh is a Forgotten God of Void who desires to plumb Mh'ordha's realm into nothingness, erasing 1,000 millennia worth of history and knowledge. Such a term as the void bothers him infinitely more than something as casually grotesque as necrotic beings. If anything, he'd prefer his realm becoming a necrotic one over his realm delving into non-existence.

Alas, he metaphorically shrugs. He presumes that they are likely meaning void in a significantly metaphorical fashion, and are just tossing words about like some uneducated buffoons trying to sound fancy.

Noting the potential selfishness that may dwell from one of them, he nonetheless continues with his listening. Having a desire to be resourceful with his time of listening, he discreetly nears himself to an appropriate spot in which he may glance upon the nearby local life while not intentionally drawing attention to himself.

Mh'odhra takes amusement in the easily pronounceable name. Nonetheless, he personally rates the name a 7.4/10. Clever usage of symbols to trick people into not really think up how to appropriately pronounce it, but symbols are but obstacles. Anyone with appropriate amounts of patience can casually say such a name with ease. Likewise, those who wish to befuddle mortals with names should strive for an appropriate mixture of obstacles and road, with more focus on road.

After all, you'd sooner prefer trying to say alm[NReme]a than Mh'odhracxedhrelbgriodrrithcthuigoxrghez'drasticthucnulbabhimbr'lutluktholalbhunuimbrookthoztuxz.

You hear that these two beings intend to make contact, to talk of an alliance.
The local wildlife is overrun. There is a lush jungle with a fetid swamp where life is in bloom. However, danger lurks everywhere. You can easily get lost in the barrier-like vegetation. Everywhere there are predators, even the plants. There are many peaceful animals, but just as many mutated and deadly ones, not counting innumerable monsters that roam the land.

Finally realizing that he probably should have checked where he was to teleport to before teleporting, he apparently receives the message from what he presumes to be a god that is - in one fashion or another - akin to his sort.

Rather not be rude, then.

He messages back. "Ah, I see you are capable of catching the ears of listeners. Most apologies; it has been a while since I've previously entered this world. Sadly, as much as I understand that you are capable of alliance, I feel that any information about events involving me must remain classified.

"However, I can most certainly inform you that I am a Librarian. Although I am a Librarian of beyond-mortal extents, I am nonetheless a Librarian. The main reason I am not attending to my library - regardless of being a Librarian - is due to the necessity of acquiring additional information about this world in general. Likewise, I found your particular realm to be peculiarly eventful to an extent that I may be able to find my appropriate answers to the appropriate questions that I find proposed upon me during such times as these.

How are we doing complications, by the way? Are other players involved in them, or do we invent NPC domains?
>>
>>86310
I'm not sure. Personally, I'm for making up an NPC domain.

However, due to technical lack of relevance to the current situation, I am not really sure if I should go into detail about Z'aggdosh yet.

Though I also feel it should be a thing that NPC domains should not be treated as domains that go out of their way to interact with player domains not directly involved with their designated player domain.

For example, as much as Z'aggdosh is practically a Forgotten One of the Void, he won't be interacting with anyone else except me, unless someone decides to either directly assist me or directly get involved with him.

My realm is a dream realm of sorts, represses sensation, is devoid of color, lacks any light, and even when you bring light of your own, the light you cast will be dull and purely monochrome. In addition, it is also home to impossible physics, mind-bending traps, and insanity inducing effects. The land is an uneven wasteland, made up of horrific materials. Food will not grow here, nor will it be found, but it also will not rot if brought in. Will taste like shit, though. The only life to be found here are grotesque, alien, impossible life-forms that will attempt to attack the mind and body.

In short, why would you ever want to come here, the people here don't even like it here, and if they do, it's because they're insane.

Knights who bowed to chaos. Lead by the shattered Sob, god of discord. Impassive to good and evil, they only rid the world of stagnation. Around a broken table stand twenty champions, armed with cobwebs, clad in glass. They are made of mayhem. Inside the inner corners of their labyrinth castle, five bloody witches commune with Sob, sacrificing aspects of themselves to claim his favour.

The new god Sob rose out of the entrails of two unstable gods. Raised from their grim slumber, they burst, and only Sob remained. His transgressive birth makes him affront to the lords of order. They scream with rage from their silent palace.

It is in the nature of those who reject authority to reject its work. Thus the Knights trickled down to Sob’s mirage domain, and pledged their souls to pledgelessness. Through time the Knights twisted into beings of pure chaos. They urge themselves to ceaseless wandering, setting sword against the powerful.

Sob is a capricious god. His Knights are no different. They put to death all who stand for order or stagnation. Mercy is alien, callousness constant. The Knights are fanatics of strife. Incapable of empathy, are they not?

Sob’s Labyrinth is a twisting villa. Mappable, but only a madman would try. The Knights venture from its dreamy columns to furrow the fields of stasis. They leave only confusion behind them, and so rumour runs rampant. Every mother has told their children the fairy-tales of Sob and his merry band of outlaws, or scared with stories of relentless Sob and his iron-hearted demons. Few believe the whispers, and yet they pursue his domain. They grasp for glory, to join the halls or to bring them down.

Alright, time for me to get started. I'll be pokin' my head out of my realm into the material world to check out my surroundings.

>In the middle of a lush, untamed land, ruled by beasts and nomads, there laid a dark, cavernous mountain, seemingly touched by misfortune and cursed with barrenness. Only the brave or the foolish dared to tread here, and when they do, they never return. Today however, a frightened girl who fit under neither of those categories stumbles and trips through the dark, ominous caves. Her footing fails her, and she falls down a rocky increment, hurting her leg. Clutching her leg and crying, she suddenly freezes in primal fear. An immense yawning hole with seemingly no end stares back at her. Two huge milky eyes stare back at her from the abyss. She feels the presence of something ancient and powerful.

They reach the everlasting sea, a quiet, timid ocean, that seems to stretch for miles. They say the farther east you travel on it, the less in touch with reality you become. Until finally, you become detached from reality entirely, never able to come back.

"This has to be some sort of a trap, right?" A scout says.

"We move forward." The Psionic affirms.

All six of them walk forward through the everlasting sea. The water is so light that they can walk on the ground deep underwater. Quickly the waters seeps into their lungs, and they fall into a panic. This terrible pain of drowning makes them immediately reget the decision, but it is too late. They only want death now, and only when one has no desires on the living land can they truly be open to change. Open to the whispers of the void.

Their bodies are fully piloted by the whispers for the journey to alm[NReme]a, and they will be susceptible to the void's call from now on. They can't quite remember the journey, but crossing the plane involved many strange passages deep under the sea, a course so complex and inscrutable that no normal person could hope to memorize, much like alm[NReme]a's name.

They awake in an underworld-type land. The sky is reddish-brown, and may infact be the land's crust viewed from below, though it's too far to tell. The land stretched miles in any direction, but there is a scout of Rahn's, waiting for them at one of the many entrances.

"We don't get visitors often." The Scout jokes, as the travelers come to. "Come, in a day's travel I will have you at the castle."

Mh'odhra hesitates from doing anything for but a moment as he pondered upon what sort of being this previously-displeased-but-now-generous god must be.

Mayhap he is but a dumbfounded-yet-happy-go-lucky god that knows little to nothing about what a potential threat may be.

Mayhap he is a gullible tyrant, striving to obtain whatever is thrown his way.

Mayhap this is a trap, and going to the god's main section of his realm will result in my very life being threatened, defeating the whole purpose of coming here.

But alas, he reminds himself to know better than to judge.

Besides, better dead than sent to the Void.

Re-obtaining focus, he obligingly teleports himself unto the unknown god's city, as is requested.

He telepathically speaks once more. "If you insist, then I suppose I shall. Sadly, as I have said: I can only provide so much information, as my current conditions are classified to those that I have yet to truly determine to be trustworthy.

Alright, nice, I get 25 scouts, 25 merchants, and 25 servants. Instructed and led by my creatures & possessed humans, they begin to construct a fortified village out of their position. My monstrous soldiers fill in to their ranks to protect my new followers. The seventeen villagers who refused to train/partake in my religion are taken to my dream realm to be transformed by my engineers into monsters. Vyseria begins her training to become an oracle, under me.

Rolling for Vyseria's training

Hmm. So this god beholds a realm of self-sustaining minions, as Mh'odhra does. And yet, they are ones for being potentially prone to consumption for the sake of simply consumption. Furthermore, this god seems to have an interest in roasted goods. Not unheard of, though I am nonetheless intrigued that--

And then, he heard the bit about some summoner desiring to summon a portal to the void. It is relative to what Z'aggdosh had informed him in regards to Mh'odhra's realm, except it seems the term cultist is swapped with summoner.

"Aye, you have ripped my classified information from its very state of classification. I am indeed troubled with what you would dub a summoner. Except for my case, it is actually a group of cultists who were once my very minions, but have been tainted by said Z'aggdosh into wolves in sheep's clothing.

"With all due honesty, my -TRUE- purpose for intruding upon your territory was to determine if you would be capable of spotting the metaphorical wolves from my metaphorical sheep, as I understand that I am incapable of doing such."

I mean, I feel like I'm less involved than I want to be, dice the worms are just a bunch of dicks who kill and eat people, so it would be cool, but honestly I don't care either way.
Also, it would make this storyline work better if someone actually was acting as his enemy rather than just some npc

Uhhhh, no. I appreciate the offer, but I prefer that Z'aggdosh stays as a separate, non-wormy Forgotten One that's primarily a prankster sort of disruption to other Forgotten Ones the like of Mh'odhra.

I'd rather have champions than chosen, for lore reasons. It says champions can tap into my affinity; does this mean they can use illusions and magic in their fighting? This is the only reason I chose Chosen, as I wanted chaos-knights.

I noticed I left something unfinished. Here’s the specific lore for the minions:

The chosen are Sob’s shears, to cut the bonds of order. Disdainful of the state of things, they have turned to violence. Their weapons are peculiar, relics of their past lives, but made of cobwebs. Their armour is glass, and flows. Sob eats their Uniqueness, and now they must find more.

The Witches are initiates of the sacred cult of Sob. They too feed him their Uniqueness, but do so endlessly, delighting in the chaos that enchants them. Four dedicated sorceresses attend to Sob, the better to feed him. A single Other remains apart…

All are giant, and all are demons or monsters in the shape of humans. Also I had an earlier version of some of the lore; just replace the old lore-numbers with the updated number (i.e. twenty four knights stand around the broken table, not twenty).
>>87607
Sob is the boss. The realm itself is called Sob's Labyrinth, and is a dreamy ruin built out of the temples of old, dead gods. It is a chaotic maze where everything makes sense, if you can find the rules.
>>
Rolled 86, 1, 10, 87, 94, 49, 93, 62, 9, 1, 74, 71, 52, 6, 91, 30, 37, 76, 26, 2, 54, 46, 1, 45 = 1103 (24d100)

Sob’s soldiers have spent an eternity hunting Uniqueness. The legends have grown. Some have thrown their lot in with the Knights. Are they brave, or stupid?
>Rolling for training; each champion tries to train another person
>>92264
Wait, scratch that, I had a better idea. The realm is a deep well. Antechambers and corridors and bridges branch off from the hole, and twist and turn, and repeat themselves. They are the remnants of ruined temples to gods that died thousands, millions of years ago. It stretches down, past any conception of sky or surface, and at the bottom stands Sob with his four witches. Exactly halfway between the entrance and the bedrock stands a broken table; the sacred gathering hall of all the chosen.

Can anyone give me a tl:dr about the Whispers storyline going on? I couldn’t quite understand it. Rahn is controlled by the whispers and wants to urge others to succumb to them too, and Deus has fallen for his diplomacy, while NEETpepe the Librarian tries to gather intelliegence?
>>
>>92264
The way I interpret it, it isn't really a "they can full-blown cast awesome magic and stuff", as that would belong to Archmages, though I would also feel that Chosen would be borderline approaching such.

Though I also regard Chosen as the Red Mages of the bunch. Jack of all trades, master of none.

Quite rather, I see it as - for your case - "They can perform some clever tricks as attacks" for illusion-based stuff, or "Their weapons dish out arcane might" for mystic-based stuff.

I mention the separate affinities thing because your troops aren't Empowered with Mystic.
>>
>>93221
You know the whole Lovecraftian fiasco, right?
Whispers are literally that: soft words from Forgotten Ones that are intentionally thrown out there, as they know your ears are not like Forgotten One ears, and Forgotten One words drive people to insanity; partly due to not understanding them, but mostly due to their arguably vague magical prowess in manipulating mortals into stuff.

So basically, it's all "Haha tough nuts kiddo; you can't understand shit, so we're gonna fill your mind with our words and make you batshit insane. ;D"

At least, that's how -I- see it.
>>
>>93221
Oh yes; how does the bonus work? Do they all get +20 each to training?
>>93224
They are empowered with mystic, because I am empowered with mystic. Realm affinity affects minions, too.

I was thinking using chaos based weaponry, using illusion tricks as their mode of attack, but only as melee, and only as a supplement to this. So champions, then.
>>93260
Yeah, but what is everyone doing? I want to see how I can fit in. You are standing to the side, while Rahn and Deus go insane?
>>
>>93260
Oh, and I would also argue that the whole "the monstrous Forgotten Ones have begun their invasion" is likely in a very literal sense, as it also mentions that their very tendrils have reached your realm.

Personally, I would have picked Whispers to go along with my whole Apocalypse, Nemesis, and Traitors stuff, as it makes sense for a Forgotten One to be having problems with a fellow Forgotten One. Only reason I didn't was because that would make my guy not necessarily neutral - even if it means he's good because of it.
>>
>>93269
Firstly: I don't know; For the most part, I just got here, and have not read at least half of the whole shenanigans going on.

Secondly: Boss Perks are strictly applied to you, not your minions. Likewise, if what the rule tells me is right, picking a second land attribute does not affect your minions. Just as picking an empowerment doesn't.
Likewise, in recognition of this: I'm swapping out Regeneration with Empowerment: Mystic. Unless the others say that picking an Affinity also affects Minions, I'm going with my decision, as that would give the Empowerment choice for minions more of a reason to be.

Thirdly, everyone's presumably either sleeping or at work. Or mucking about. i dunno
>>
>>93323
The +20 is the bonus you get from lieutenants, i.e. the champions.

I was just going off
>affinity imbues you *and your minions*
for affinity giving your minions attributes. The minion perk empowerment seems to be a way to get extra affinity for your minions only, if you have more minion points than shards of power.

As an aside: mystical provides bonuses to magic -- you can still have magic in unmystical realms, it'll just be worse. For example, I gave them all bonuses to magic. This is academic to me, seeing as I'm using champions who presumably can't do shit with magic unless it's an affinity (my bonus to magic only benefits the witches, in this case), I'm just saying this in general.
>>
>>93221
[I'm going to apply the +20 bonus because it seems like it's relevant. If it isn't, I'll amend it.]
>Crit success: 8, Success: 9, Fail: 7

Many have slipped down from the world above. They searched for meaning, for an end to enslavement, for indulgence. It cost them themselves.

Eight have fed enough to crown themselves as Knights. Of these eight, six clung to weapons from another age, and pledged themselves as champions. Three were caught by Sob’s allure, and have become witches.

Sob has not eaten his fill of nine of them. They have yet to bring their Uniqueness for him to dine on. For now they languish, still prosaic, waiting to become Knights. [One more success and they become Lieutenants]

Seven were found lacking. They dallied, or turned back, and were consumed by Sob.
---
Four witches climb up the unseen steps, accompanied by ten champions. The surface thrills them. Secrets are their prey.

Sob has heard the legends of the hidden library. His witches prepare a rite to call its master. They beg across the void.

“Mh'odhra, Mh'odhra, Legendary Scholar, let us in your library of secrets. Our god is civil, and wishes to be friends. He will do much, to see your works.”

Out of the blue - as would be expected of Z'aggdosh - his mind rings with a call from the void. He can hear what seems to be the voices of eldritch beings contacting him.

As it turns out, it apparently isn't a prank call from Z'aggdosh. If anything, it's just some Witches of someone else.

Alas, he cannot allow anyone into his Librarium during these times, lest some of his corrupted Mages of his attempt to make him look bad.

Or worse: unless said mages end up figuring out he's away from the Librarium, which would grant said mages the freedom to commit to a swift ritual to destroy his realm.

No, he reminds himself. No one's allowed in the Librarium while his crisis persists.

Fluff:

Who hasn't heard of the realm of the fae? At the moment, it would be better not to be quite so well known. The last fae king unfortunately went mad, and attempted to release an ancient horror into the world. Why we still aren't sure. Either way, I overthrew him with the help of Water, Wind and Earth, and now rule as the fae queen. Empress Tala they call me. Unfortunately, a lot of my power goes in to maintaining the weakened seals on the dark god my idiot father tried to summon. Oh, did I not mention the last king was my father? Speaking of him, he's sealed in there too, we just erected a barrier around the entire summoning ritual to keep it all under control while we think of a more permanent solution. So at some point we need to get rid of my father and his followers for good, and then deal with the thing he was trying to release on the world.

First, perhaps, there's the matter of my coronation. Not all the fae even know their ruler has changed yet, and my people do love to throw a good party.
>>

In glancing at these profiles I have discovered a couple of things:

1) At the same time I'd criticize your for stuff such as "You gave Andourou -TWO- Affinities That Are Not Neessarily Related To You instead of the One that the perk semi-vaguely describes. Specifically, you gave him Tempest and Air when you have purchased/started with neither Affinities.

2) I babbled earlier about how I presumptuously did not purchase Nemesis or Whispers, but apparently it turns out I actually did.

3) All this scanning stuff is hurting my head. :S

The witches wail in despair, the champions rake their hands across their blades. The hunt for the Unique must continue. If the Librarian-God rejects them now, other ways must be found.

Ways that may give them chance to wreak chaos. The witches set out the charcoal, the acrid herbs and charms of bone, and begin the mystic rites once more, to reach another god. Another who has ties to the forgotten. A king.

Just curious: Would anyone complain if I made a profile for Z'aggdosh or something?

After all, I feel this roleplay needs some more villains.
>>
>>95005

It said in the Companion entry 'pick their affinity, size and race' so I interpreted that as literal. If you had to use your own there's no picking.

As to multiple, I went on the basis that it gives minor versions of your boss perks. As I had two empowerment purchases I figured the companions did too.

If that interpretation seems unfair to everyone I don't mind changing things and I'll fully admit my bad, but it didn't seem terribly unreasonable to me (otherwise I wouldn't have done it).

>>95382
No, I think it's about right. I think Mh's issue was mainly with the lore of affinities than the mechanics, regarding choosing arguably unrelated affinities (I'd say they're related, in that they're hippie-natural-elemental).
>>
>>95454
Oh no, I was actually mainly concerned about the mechanics. But I guess I understand now.

Sorry if literally everything confuses me; I don't even know any of the non-primitive things to roll for, let alone the full mechanics of what applies to what when.
>>
>>95150

Whoops, didn't notice your attempt at contact there.

What form does your contact take? Do you send a specific message? I'm not sure how to reply because I'm not sure quite what you were trying to do first. By the roll it obriously worked, after all.

>>95507

I don't know either. I thought it seemed to fit fluff wise so I went for it. Not trying to game the mechanics or anything.
>>
>>95512
The message is the bit in quotes, the idea being that they're using magic to try and speak to you. The actual message itself is meant to be that Sob's Knights will fight/protect/do whatever for the Empress, in return for the ability to use her (father's) research into forgotten ones.

Game mechanics generally don't matter too much, anyway.
>>
>>95554

Wow, talk about derping. I'm clearly not with it today. I beg pardon for my rampant retardation.

---

A message returns after a short delay. Something about it gives a sense of amusement, and perhaps a little smugness. "King of Fae? There is no such thing. Perhaps I could help you instead? Who are you outsider, and what do you seek from the fey realm?"
>>
Yo, just a heads up: I'm going to my Grandma's house for Mother's day, so don't expect me for a while. Seeya!

>>93287 K, I'm back. Since this is freeform, I'm just making this stuff up myself. So Rahn has whispers and has secretly succumbed to them but I dont have whispers. It's an unknown hole in the ground that leads to many places. I don't know where it would be geographically, but it's academic because you can reach it from all over, Astral Construct style. You, knowing about the old gods, would presumably also know where ways to the pit are. As a side, I've been debating exchanging "legendary" for "separate" in order to make this lore clearer. What do you think?
>>95933
The fact they're good acts against it, actually. The emphasis is on chaos vs. order, rather than good vs. evil. Plus...I'm kind of concerned as to the heavy villain leaning.

But if you don't want to, that's fine. NPC domains work too, as Mh' shows.
>>
>>95976
I feel an npc domain works better cause most people that usurper just have it in their background. I forgot about that, because I am retarded.

"My lovely speaker, I am sorry. I am the Roving Witch, and these are my companions. We are Knights of the Chaos God Sob. We would love to serve you, in return for some small knowledge. If it harms you none, may you tell us who *you* are? We heard tales of a fairy King. He is gone?" Rolling for persuasion regarding getting the deal done (+80 from witches).

P.S.: our aims are not so far apart. You know 40k Inquisition Radicals?
>>

The message bears obviously more warmth after their flattery and giving the answers asked for. "Greetings Roving Witch. I am Tala, Queen of the Fae, Lady of Butterflies and Maiden of Spring. I am the ruler of Fairy, there is no king here, so he cannot be gone. If you wish knowledge, you may ask, though courtesy would say you should make a request of a queen in person and on your knees."

I hope your witches know what they're doing and have read up on their fairy tales. You should be careful trying to make deals with a fae.

You probably already know this, but Mh'odhra also has a Nemesis, who is coincidentally Z'aggdosh.

Speaking of which, I think I've spiffied up a profile for him, for the case that everyone feels he should have a profile.

Also, I feel that Z'aggdosh's real name should be Swag Dosh, and that geniuses like Mh'odhra simply mistake his name for a more Eldritch sort, due to how stupid it is for an Eldritch God to have such a foolish name.

Speaking of names, is it okay if I ditch the whole Mh'odhra thing for just The Librarian? I feel that expressing even a tidge's worth an Eldritch name would usually result in insanity being unleashed. Plus, it'd be weird for Eldritch Gods to use nicknames that are simply spliced up versions of their real names.

But then question also becomes: what bonuses do I take into account, and at what times do I involve their bonuses? For example, if I want to teach a Sorcerer to become an Archmage, am I allowed to use the bonuses of all three Archmagse? And am I allowed to involve the bonus of the Sorcerer? etc.

Though still worried for his current predicament, he nonetheless bids his yet-to-identify-self ally with a "Then pardon me for but a while's time, as I must gather up my appropriate resources" as he teleports himself back to his portal and into his realm once more.

Firstly, he telepathically informs his two Companions that - though he has returned - his stay at home is but a temporary one, as he must gather up his librarians, and train as many of the lesser ones into greater ones as he can - even if it means accidentally educating the very last thing he wants to educate.

>In a very swift process of gathering all mages, sorcerers, and archmages - which also temporarily relieves from all participants the duty of caring for the realm - he commences a process of mass-education of all Mages - that he may educate them all to Sorcerers.

>Everyone gathers all of the appropriate studying materials - that such an educational process may begin - and attempts to promote all 150 Mages to Sorcerers. Of course, Jeremy and the Aspect of Knowledge are involved in the process.

Am I supposed to be looking for a specific number or something? Or am I doing my calculations wrong? Because by the look of things, all that I really need to do to boot everyone up a level is just my two Companions and my 3 Lieutenants

>Lieutenants 2 op pls nerf

Whoops. I dunno how to add additional bonuses.

But basically, there's The Librarian, the two Companions for a total of 40, the three Archmages for a total of 60, and the Sorcerers are a 10.
>>
>>97711
normally, just add that as the bonus, so that'd be 233
>>
>>97772
I presume this means I do a Super Stupendous Job at educating the Mages into being Sorcerers due to being naturally a more-than-89 number?

Furthermore, if this is the case: why did I even need to roll? The bonus from all of the teachers would naturally boost my number to a casual more-than-89 number, which - by this logic - means I will always win no matter what.
>>
>>94036
I didn't fully read the rules of empowerment, I'd like to change my boss perk of hybrid into empowerment and take Light as a third affinity
>>
>>97811
idk, the way we've been doing it, a large roll is used to either beat someone else's roll or to see how many sorcs you make for example. We haven't got around to discussing if the number would be just that, or a percentage or what you started with. also the dice roll is relevant so if it failed, you'd create less sorcs and have a setback
>>
>>97848
But then wouldn't that mean my Bonus is irrelevant?

To which: Wouldn't this mean that I'd be better off having just one Archmage doing all of the teach than risk myself, all three Archmages, and my two companions?

>op really needs to make this shit more clear and balanced next time.

My scouts return from their exploration. The Golden Wing Mountains do not occupy a vast land, but it is a dense inferno of towering peaks. Beyond that are even more mountains that reach ever higher (a tempest realm) with numerous caves that constitute a complex network (an earth realm). From atop a mountain, they report that to the west, there is a massive river the separates the desert from fertile hills dotted with tall, thin mountains. The first men, running away from opression by the large people, found solace in the woods of Shroomland. It's said to be a magic name with deep connections to the land, but the laguage has evolved and the meaning of `shroomland`, lost. These men, mostly merchants, brought along their previos tresures and hid it somewher. Only the king knows of it`s location, but everyone knows (or think they know) of its existance. The mages of hen, as the mages of now, added life to the rocks, and the construts now serve as equals to the nation.

As traders, these first men could not do much isolated from the world. For that reason, the only large city far from borders is inhabited mainly by the constructs. It is rare for a shroomling to live his life only within the realm.

Because of the nature of it`s monarchy, which can be removed should the king not meet the people desires, its king is humble and has a reputation of doing the best for its weakest citizens, craftsemn, soldiers and especially sailors.

The people are, however, sneaky little bastards. They don`t do it out of evil, but as traders it is in theis habits to be a little cheaty and strive to infiltrate other realms. In their heads, it is only natural that they must attempt to make the most profit off of brutes.

>Scouts; 25

Willing to count his lucky stars, he decides that that would be enough risky training for now.

Instead, he, Jeremy, one Archmage, and 100 Sorcerers would maneuver to the newly discovered land of the Mystic/Technology/Necrotic/Gaia Humans and Demons, while the rest stay at home to resume Enchanting and Book Managing duties.

The Archmage and Sorcerers all moan in practical unison as they take leave from their comfortable realm, losing their blessings of Ascendancy and Sustenance. But nonetheless, they all maneuver themselves to the border of Deusrius's land.

Mh'odhra telepathically speaks to the unknown god once more.

"I have returned. Allow me to say that it was a tidge hassle to educate 150 of my Librarians to a higher level of magical potency. However, I nonetheless return with whatever resources I can easily gather without leaving my realm untended.

"I feel we should appropriately discuss Strategems for the upcoming battle against Z'aggdosh. Though I am of potent in knowledge, I have only once engaged in anything that you would regard as a 'war'.

"Mayhap we should summon at least one additional ally to discuss such things?"

So as far as he's concerned, he knows jack shit about you, except you are Monstrous, of Mystic Affinity, and you can use Telepathy.

Just a swift heads up before you go around spewing names: Technically, no one knows of The Librarian's true name. And even if they do, the mentioning of his name to individuals who are not well-versed in the language of the Eldritch are basically receiving a psychological attack to the mind, as such a name is technically regarded as Whispers That Induce Insanity.

This is why The Librarian 'speaks' to no one but fellow Eldritch/Monstrous beings.

What's so necessarily savage about murdering people that try to take his stuff/minions?

Swag Dosh internally chuckled at the idea that these guys were seriously acting -OUTSIDE OF THEIR REALM, WHERE THEY WOULD LIKELY GAIN BENEFITS FROM - and especially lifting away from their very realm.

>Of course, that was before he realized he was going to get his entire army cucked over if he and his army didn't get the fuck out of Dodge, since he literally had only, like, ten Witches to fight the aerial cucks.

"O SHIT"

Thankfully, since his realm was of Darkness - which provides an environment that provides stealth - and of Mystic - which allowed him to change up his land as he saw fit - he resorts to ordering all Champions and Witches to Stealth as he manipulates the very earth before everyone's feet, and manipulating said dirt as far away from the action as possible, attempting to delve deep into his territory.

>I don't know what rolls to make for this. But whatever the case may be, I would like to make mention that all of his troops have Specialty: Resistance and Specialty: Health, and Swag Dosh also has Vitality Prowess, Agility Prowess, and Magical Prowess.

>Also, for a quick reminder: he has 24 Champions and 10 Witches.

Also, it's about that time. Gonna go sleepy sleep, m8s. I won't mind Deusrius taking over Swag Dosh for me, presuming he knows how to keep Swag Dosh in character.

>>
>>100993
Not a good party. Who crashed it?
>>
Glad to see you guys took this and ran with it. Been lurking and observing. Debating changes and what not. Decided I'll leave it up to you guys to decide how you want to do something

I personally feel like some people have "stacked up" on certain things to get very high bonuses, which isn't bad. It makes them specialized. However, the original idea of the roll system wasn't designed for it.

I have an idea for a change if you all are willing to try it out. The roll for whatever you are doing alone determines whether it is a critical failure or success. So the only way to critically fail is getting a 01-10, and the only way to critically succeed is getting a 91-00. The "bonuses" only affect how good/bad the situation is.

Example: A roll of 05, with a +50 modifier from minions and such is a crit fail. Bad bad stuff happens. However, you manage to save some minions/whatever. Always assume the worst possible outcome when a crit fail happens.

The inverse is true for crit successes. Originally intended to be rare like crit fails. Always assume awesome things happen. This way it kind of alleviates auto-'wins' from having big bonuses.
>>
>>101035
Yeah, like I said, I feel the game would be better if there was a qm to run things. Regardless, more guidelines would help. For that change, that's how me and some others have been playing it. Generally the huge bonuses are there to see how many "things" we get or are the "rolls to beat".
>>
>>101000
If you're invested enough, you could add your realm to the map >>100685
>>
>>101070
Was actually holding out to see if anyone would add their names so I could see who was who before doing that. If people don't I'll do it in a bit either way.
>>
>>101075
the ones that are drawn: currently active people's realms and ones placed fluff wise. Just place it wherever you want, probably somewhere farther away from most people cause your realm is large but fae
don't worry too much about other people cause 1 they aren't active 2 havent specified where they are 3 most ppl post a build but dont play
>>
Sounds good. I'll lurk a bit before posting, get a feel of where this thread is going.

If you happen to hear a weird echoing song in the back of your head, just ignore it and continue with your day. It was probably your imagination.
>>
>>101089 >>100685
considering your realm is expansionary/unknown, I'd say your realm should start off pretty small+remote. Also expansion should be slow+steady

Well, might as well write some fluff for my domain.

Part 1
----------
Stepping into the ruined city, Captain Rodrick surveyed the bloodshed. Thousands went insane that night, their screams and demented laughter audible from across the valley as the city burned.

"What madness is this..." Rodrick muttered under his breath as he sent his men to survey the streets. The stench of death hung heavy in the air, mixed with smoke and dust from the still-burning embers.

They'd been tasked with finding any survivors from the calamity as well as to look for any leads. It was hardly a pretty sight, seeing the mutilated bodies still grinning from ear to ear, their dead eyes perpetually frozen in lethal joy.

"What could've done this, sir?" Sergeant Mason, Rodrick's second-in-command, stepped beside him. He was a bright youth with a grand future ahead of him, starkly contrasted to the grizzled Rodrick.

"I don't know, nor do I care to find out." Rodrick replied curtly, "Come on, let's get done with this and have a mug of mead. On me."

Mason nodded and headed off to direct his men.

Alone once again, Rodrick surveyed the town square. The dead lay around him; men, women, children, none were spared from the madness that descended on the town that fateful night.

Then, he thought he heard something.

He spun around, but there was nobody there. At first, he chalked it up to his imagination playing tricks on him.

Then, another tone followed.

And another.

And another.

And another.

He clasped his hands over his ears, attempting to block out the sound to no avail. It was as if the song came from somewhere within him.

Shutting his eyes, he opened them again to find himself in a strange world. No longer in the town, he was in some sort of field surrounded by slender white mountains. Docile creatures, endearingly adorable in appearance, ran about.

Then, he saw a massive beast. In spite of its size, there was something... comforting about its presence.

He walked closer to it and noticed that many more creatures were headed to it. One of them was headed towards Rodrick, its floppy ears bouncing with its gallop.

The behemothj let out a happy-sounding tone that warmed Rodrick's heart and he laughed. He hadn't felt this at peace in a long time. It was heavenly...

Then, he was torn from the world by the bite of steel on his arm. He spun around and gave his assailant a kick, making him crumple lifelessly to the floor.

He stepped over the unconscious corpse and recoiled in shock.

It was Mason, smiling ecstatically, his eyes full of empty joy.

Staggering backwards, he ordered his men to evacuate the city just as another tone rang out...
>>
>>101337
Part 2
----------
Nouc'tirnodti sat atop its mountain, surveying the landscape below. Alien geometries and impossible shapes made up this massive mass of flesh, bone, and light, a stark contrast to the serene and beautiful landscape before it. Slender mountains dotted the vast fields, slow-flowing rivers weaving between the columns.

The creature opened its formless maw and let out of tone. It echoed near-perfectly across the mountain walls, broadcasting far and wide across the plains. In time, a multitude of tones resounded back, forming an alien melody that spoke to the mind and soul rather than the ears.

Nouc'tirnodti let out several more tones, pure and untainted by prose, before descending from the mountain, setting foot onto the plains as numerous aspects swarmed around its legs.

The behemoth let out a gentle tone, one which the aspects returned in perfect harmony.

Nouc'tirnodti was content. Then, it realised one of its aspects was struggling to live. Before it could react, the creature vanished.

Nouc'tirnodti was saddened by this and it let out a plaintive tone, echoed by the others. An aria of sorrow reverberated throughout the land and, suddenly, many more aspects arrived, one of which was of a strange, bipedal creature. He'd seen many and some even resided in the behemoth's mountain, having carved out a home for themselves.

These alien creatures, though odd in appearance, were admirably smart and versatile. It enjoyed listening to them talk of the world they came from, of tales of joy and sadness and anger.

This intrigued Nouc'tirnodti.

It wanted to see this world, to spread its song.

There is no real QM. We're self-moderating.

Has anyone else done one of these before, out of interest? Who did you play as?

Regarding 'maps'/world lore: there's two main routes we can go down. One in which there's an actual world, in which lots of domains can exist, *or*, the entire world is made out of interlocking domains. I personally prefer the latter, not least as it makes separate/hidden/weird realms sensical, but what do you guys think?

I've got an idea. It's not exactly original to this thread, but I think this is the first post to put it into concrete. I think we should make this game more cohesive, more focused. In other words, I suggest we make this game into a kind of campaign. This particular one focused on the whispers.

We could assume that the two complications of apocalypse and whispers are in full effect for everyone, although only those who chose the complications are directly, immediately threatened. They don't have to be the same whispers, as it were -- Rahn gets his, Librarian gets He-Who-Hates-Long-Names.

This gives us all a clear focus. The whispers. Either to overcome them, or to further them. Tala can fight against them (maybe), Rahn can work for them, Librarian can muddle his way through the whole mess, and people not directly involved, like me, can use their own motivations in relation to the whispers.

However, this might require a continuity reboot. Which you guys might not like. I don't necessarily mean wiping progress, just restarting the campaign with a specific focus in mind.
>>97699
That's been a thing for months senpai.
>>97811
Welcome to Domain CYOA. I'd advise just using common sense; you are a librarian, with access to tonnes of knowledge, you are going to be good at teaching people. But you won't be super ungodly gamebreaking levels of teaching, just 'cause that's what the dice say -- you'll just be really good.

Honestly, I'm kind of in favour of *just* fluffing it, freeform style, especially in combination with the idea above. If we think we can be trusted, anyway. We can try it and revert back if it gets horrible.

This is not least because I'm fairly certain I'm potentially the most OP domain on Earth, as are any similar to mine.

Also here's my map.
>>
>>101491
In regards to the whole OP shenanigans, I feel that the Mystic Affinity in itself is the most OP Affinity out there; SHEERLY due to the ability to "be anything you imagine, and even give it physics defying and ever changing features.

Like, seriously. If they just retconned that little detail, or just left it as "Physics Defying to some extent" or something, I feel it'd be perfectly fine.

Otherwise, it gives me the vibe that I can literally just Nope anyone from expanding any futher in my Realm, via Stretching, Shrinking, and Manipulating the quality of my realm around anyone's feet.

So, for example, I could theoretically make it so you would walk a never-ending path that looks like your objective door is just ten feet ahead of you, but an hour's progress of walking is getting you nowhere.

Speaking of OP, I feel Minions need to be more balanced to have the same Bonus Efficiency Per Purchase.

For example: Why not go off the scalings of Elites, and scale Mooks to 1 per 2.5 minions and scale Lieutenants to 10 per Lieutenant?

Or something like that?

>Oh yah, and if you think YOUR realm is OP, my First Steps of Education are literally impossible to map due to literally always changing, and are apparently built from the ground up to be a test to anyone that is not of Mystic and Illusion Affinity.
>>
>>101499
>Speaking of OP, I feel Minions need to be more balanced to have the same Bonus Efficiency Per Purchase.
This is pretty much what I meant when I said I was OP. The way I see it, with your OP-ness, to make things work you'd have to roll for the ability to make a never-ending path against the guys trying to travel it.

But I, for lore reasons, only have lieutenants, who ALL give +20. I don't think giving every minion a flat +10 works by itself, either, because then -- why choose any specific type at all?

What I think we should do is generally ignore *dice* as a bonus -- to anything. Utility should be the primary concern.

Ex.: what is the real life, obvious benefit of one lieutenant over 25 mooks? Lieutenants are focused, are special, are *heroic*. They're one great guy, in other words. They can really do shit on their own. But they can't split themselves in half. They can only do one thing.

Mooks, on the other hand, *can* do many things at once. They're versatile. But they're also less focused, and simply *bigger*. They're more susceptible to traps and small corridors and good tactics and general confoundment.

And I do think we could go full freeform on this. What do you think of the campaign idea?

Also, is it just me, or are there a hell of a lot of monstrous people, and mystic/illusion affinities?
>>
>>101511
Hey man, monstrous is fun. But I do like the idea of the Whispers being some serious threat that we can either ally with or against, though that should come later when we've got our alliances ready and stuff. There should be hints of it though.

Ol' Nouc' here probably wouldn't care all that much unless it deliberately tried to fuck with The Land of Songs.
>>
>>101499
>>101511

For mystic at least I'd say it depends how you fluff it. Rate of change and degree of physics defiance could go from ridiculous mindscrew to just a bit weird. I've played vidya that had changing paths you had to work your way through and stuff, and I managed because even if it changes if there's some sort of pattern or whatever you can work it out.

I'm wouldn't mind free forming everything, but I feel the odd roll here and there helps a lot of the time. Just gives a bit of structure and the occassional crit creates a natural direction to the story.

Also up for proposed storyline. Whispers are bad. The fae are officially against whispering.
>>
Rolled 48 + 120 (1d100 + 120)

"Fair lady, we would *love* to bow to you. We would *love* to see you, talk to you, mouth to mouth, eye to eye. But we will not walk across your walls without your say-so. Will you give it to us?" They know the fairy queen's realm is protected. They don't want war, not now.
---
The air is wet, and warm. Like the inside of a tongue. Steel drumming sparks across the ground, deliberately eratic. Sob walks. He and his four attending sorceresses, and two more wild companions. They with twenty cobweb champions.

They walk for years, years within this bleak maze but hours without. Through corridors dry with water, across ropes of sand, on winds of colour. For inches they travel, the flagstones going nowhere. They reach a small hole, fit for worms.

Sob stops. This is new.

It reeks of the elder ones. It reeks of *him*.

They step forwards, into the beckoning darkness. Deeper, into the earthen night. Then Sob calls, with his six witches weaving their enchanting magic.

"Whose realm is this? What beast are you? You feel like power, in my spirit. I would dearly wish to speak with you, if I could." Rolling for persuasion. This is to Mm'hotiboghu, if you hadn't guessed. I understand I'm stretching it a bit, as you're unknown, but I want to keep things moving. I'll retcon it if you think it's too much.
>>101515
Rahn is with Deus and For Whispers, although things aren't entirely at ease. Librarian is sort-of involved with them, too, but he's Against Whispers (Zag).

Tala is firmly Against Whispers, and so is firmly against Rahn-Deus-[Librarian]. Fortan might be playing, in which case he's kind-of Against Whispers, I think.

Nouc' and Sob and Ytriamus and Mm'Worm are neutral, so far, at least. Nouc' doesn't care about whispers at all, and Sob, Ytriamus and Mm'Worm haven't acted yet (which allows for balancing). Mm'Worm might, however, actually *be* whispers.

Is that everyone currently active? If so, perhaps we should focus on us neutrals deciding. I know I'm probably going to end up falling on the side of Against Whispers, to balance things out.
>>
>>101035
This reminds me:

Think we can change the rolling to a more classic version, with 1-5 being a crit fail and 96-100 being a crit success? After all, I personally feel that the Crit Fail chance is casually a bit too big for my tastes.

I always feel like I'm REALLY at risk when I'm rolling for something when I have a 1 in 10 chance of failing something. At least a 1 in 20 is half that burden.
>>
>>101569

"Any who come in friendship may enter the fey realm. Come in peace and you will be welcomed guests."

>>101583

I think I'd probably agree with that. Crits should be relatively rare occurances.
>>
>>101569
Hmm, I feel like interaction between us is fine, but due to my unknown nature, do you think you can instead encounter the island with my cultists? The biggest part of my strengths is subtly, which is why I chose illusion and darkness. For example, I currently have several tribal villages worshiping obelisks with ineligible old god scripture on it. Besides, as is, I can only speak through symbolic telepathic actions or through mouthpieces.

Added The Land of Songs.

It basically looks like regular land, nothing out of the ordinary except for this faint melody in the background that defies all musical convention. It's harmless if you treat it as white noise or you plug up your ears.

That said, it's one of the ways into Nouc'tirnodti's domain aside from powerful magic.

The Land of Songs will grow at least once per day. Not by much, but it'll grow and grow and grow...

Also, if you happen to see a quiet Bard lady with a pet bird on her shoulder, a cocky Assassin, a sultry Witch, and a serious Oracle wandering together, they're just adventurers looking for adventure, nothing more.

I swear.

Likewise, I feel burdened in kindly asking that - should the time arise that Z'aggdosh is defeated - you would permit me to document Z'aggdosh's land before going about as you please with said land.

"Nonetheless, I am fine with the involvement of said ally. Just as long as he too respects my conditions."

Addressing your concerns:
>What's so necessarily savage about murdering people that try to take his stuff/minions?
Free will?
>OUTSIDE OF THEIR REALM, WHERE THEY WOULD LIKELY GAIN BENEFITS FROM
Within a small proximity of his carriage, he gains the benefits of being in his domain.

Addressing our attack
> Thankfully, since his realm was of Darkness - which provides an environment that provides stealth - and of Mystic - which allowed him to change up his land as he saw fit - he resorts to ordering all Champions and Witches to Stealth as he manipulates the very earth before everyone's feet, and manipulating said dirt as far away from the action as possible, attempting to delve deep into his territory.
Well, you could up to me and my crew while we were heading off, aka you were at least a few meters away from your domain. AKA, how did not a single person die? My team is literally nothing but professionals. At Least 4 witches would have died from +700 of suprise bombardment.
>>
>>102789
>Free will?
Includes the freedom to take and hold something of your own, if you're going the My Property route.
>>
>>101491
For the reboot, I don't think we need it right now. We've just been running with it anyways. You could do it after this *campaign* though.
>>101499 >>101511 For scaling, I have a proposal. We can figure out the details together but I feel having time increments would make it more structured.
>>
>>102801
I meant the free will of the people. AKA, Fortan does not allow slavery and tries to offer his students the best lifestyle and learning, rather than shielding them from any form of greater opportunity.
>>
>>101569
>actually, my goal would be to help stop the end of the world (with librarian+anyone else) but I'm willing to go with rahn and help the whispers (as long as it's just conquering). However, I will try and ally/do it peacefully if possible. They don't need to be destroyed, only accept the whispers. Also, I want to do this after the world is saved
>>
>>102812
>but I feel having time increments would make it more structured.
I'm not a big fan of this. This feels like it gives us more fiddly stuff to deal with without actually addressing the problem.

Also, I think my post didn't get through. Damn. Basically, I think we could have something like what OP said, only less radical: your bonuses determine outcome, but the dice alone determines whether it's crit or not. So no definite-crits any more.

Should we just use a QM policy? I.e. when one player rolls something, a player steps in as QM and arbitrates it; if two Domain Masters are against each other, another steps in and moderates. This could allow for crunch to remain a factor, but not result in ungodliness.
>>102816
The people don't have a will. You think the unenlightened masses can make the judgement call?
>>
>>102045
speaking: "That is.... agreeable. I am true to my word, and if Rahn should attack you, I would protect you. Just remember, you must, sooner or later, accept the whispers. I feel it would also 'help' you gain *otherworldly* knowledge.
>>
>>102842
It is called democracy and is what Fortan believes in. If you are against a man's' judgement, you are his enemy.
>>
>>102851
>we believe the people can and should have free will. It is called democracy.
>if you are against a man's judgement, you are his enemy
I feel like I'm missing something here...
>>
>>102842
No, I understood what you said. I've already been implementing the dice rolls in that way. As for the second proposal, I think we should try it. Just saying though, whenever I've 'created' stuff, I've used a random # generator with reasonable proportions. Ex: I want to train some mages. I currently have 100. I'll roll a d100 with +25. The number I get could either be 1) how many mages are trained 2) 1 but as a % of total 3) depending on the dice roll, adjust higher or lower
>>
>>102860
And what do you think you are missing? Do you not know people who you disagree with? While enemy might be an exaggeration, they are definitely not your friend, and you shouldn't be forced to hold the same belief and be friends.

Sheesh, you are relentless. It's just a character.
>>
>>102866
Kek, I meant my post didn't get posted. I had a big thing written up. AND replies to Tala and Mm'Worm.

Let's take those into combination, then, and see how it goes.

I am gonna roll to prepare more troops however
-gonna make more riders
overseers+riders+warlord (probably dont need to but wanted to mention I have 76 trained animals)
>>
>>102917
>so would someone else come in at this point?
was gonna say 6 animals went berserk and 4 soldiers died
>should the #'s be bigger?
>>
>>102789
I did not say that they actually got away, I only said he was ATTEMPTING to.

Furthermore: you probably read it yourself, but I also mentioned that I did not know how to roll for anything.

In case you don't know, I'm not well-educated on Free Form when it comes to PvP sort of stuff. It's a lot easier for me when I'm involved in something like a Free Form D&D session, where everyone ideally focuses on PvE.

Ergo, I don't know what bonuses I get, or what rolls I have to make.

This is why I dislike Non-PvE Free Form. I appreciate it better when it's less Free Form and something more Official.

>>102843

The mention of the subject Whispers bugged him. Z'aggdosh was the very thing prank calling him about the words of some Forgotten Ones. He knew that such gods held knowledge about things naturally beyond even his own comprehension, but he had his doubts, considering the last thing he would want to be on the Human side of the comparison of a Human to an Eldritch being.

But knowledge was still knowledge...

"Duly noted, and I will most certainly consider it.

"Then presuming we have reached an agreement, what designated time would you suggest the three of us gather to discuss strategems? And further, where should such discussions take place?"
>>

Hey, no one knows how to freeform. That's the point. We just make shit up and, if it looks right, roll hehe with it.

Forgot to mention: You did not mention which Empowerment your troops have. You can't just purchase it once and say "Oh, it means all of them". It specifically states to pick one additional Affinity.
Furthermore, you don't have 31 Tokens, only 30; either get rid of your Empowerment, or dock off 1 Archmage.
Though, if you added the Empowerment thingy because of my confusion on how Affinities work, then don't worry about it because the Affinities you purchase for your God also apply to your Minions.

>On the Swag Dosh side of things

It was unfortunate that four of his very Witches died. That's four less babes to help with prank calls.

Eh, nothing he can't work with. After all, better four dead than everyone getting cucked over by a shit ton of Archmagi in one go.

Swiftly returning to his underground base within his realm, he immediately gets to work with molding his shadowy underground labyrinth into a more clever shape, making sure to add a lot of dead ends filled with weak floorings that result in miniature cave-ins, as well as random dim torches, intentionally designed to lead to the right path 1/4 of the way, only to start being deceiving and lead to some dead ends

And just to be super sure they ain't making it, he intentionally makes the near-end of the path a deep dive that transfers into a steep climb.

With a convenient lava trap prepared at the end of said end for any Clown Brigade Pansies that make it that far.

>I'm probably gonna feel like a jerk, but I'mma make some rolls anyways.

>First one's for how good/massive the maze is. Second is how good the torches are. Third one is how conveniently deep the deep pivot. Fourth one is how much lava supplement he has.

>>103023

>On the Ultimate Librarian side of things

"Very well, then I shall meet you all there. I will be anticipating our strategems."

With that note, he immediately maneuvers all of his troops to the designated location of the western edge of the unknown god's realm.

He awaits in anticipation. Both for what plans they would conduct and the chance to actually see the physical forms of these gods.

wanted to ask, what's everyone's timezones? I'm PST so it's pretty late for me. Askin to see when ppl will generally be on.
>>
>>106006
GMT+8

I'm using UTC since it's basically standard time and its a nice benchmark no matter where in the world we are.

Rahn's up too, although I don't know if he actually responded to the rollcall.

>But the other half of the problem is: I don't know how big (number-wise) such numbers are.
Use the ones in the OP, and for anything else -- make if flavourful. That's what I do, anyway.

I do like the idea that the raw roll is what determines your outcome, but your minions and stuff will help you either mitigate the outcome or improve it (to an extent). This does mean that you have to roll and immediately reply with how your minions mitigate the roll, but it's a good way to keep the game fair enough without getting excessively "game-breaky" in terms of mechanics.
>>
I'm back about.

>>106006

GMT here, but I've got this week off so fuck knows what timescale I'll be operating in.

Tala, where's your domain located? Is it the big yellow blob just above mine? I'm currently thinking about how to make my domain's presence known when it inevitably intrudes upon someone else's domain.

Also, who's going to make a new thread when this reaches its post limit?
>>
>>106049
No, I haven't got round to putting myself on the map yet because I'm shit.

Whoever notices the thread is dead makes a new one, I guess, it doesn't really matter who.

Okay, I'm on Ritalin, let's do this.

The Roving Witch smiles, fingers around the burning herbs and chalk, and crushes them. The flames snap and vanish. She straightens, her joints aching for warmth. The wind rakes through her wild and matted hair, whipping across her plastered face, as she speaks to her companions.

"The elves are courteous. We can foray to their fairy realm, see what secrets old King Six-Legs sought. Let your nothingness wretch, sisters, let it wretch to be so full of knowledge. And swordsmen, champions, your purpose can be found with us. You know Sob's plan. We will feed, soon enough."

They depart for Fairyland. Through the warrens they walk. The air grows soft and sweet, calm against their skin, so used to sickly warmth and scourging. Soft, sweet, but...thin. Fragile.

What do you want me to do now? They're in your realm. I don't want to barge in and invent how that looks like. Perhaps the Empress receives them in her throneroom to tell them what she expects in return? I'm happy for you to move my roving band of chaotic stupids.

Dammit, saw this but got distracted, meant to reply ages ago.

Waiting for the envoys of Sob stands a small party. Two are hulking warriors, one a humanoid lizard and the other a man with the legs and antlers of a stag. A third is a wizened mushroom, leaning upon a staff. The last one is a dryad, with hair of willow branches and skin of smooth bark. She holds out a hand, and on it sits a tiny fairy in a golden dress, the wings of a butterfly sprouting from her back.

All of them, but the fairy in particular, have a powerful aura, tickling at the instincts of those who look upon them, whether they be instincts of violence, joy, sadness or lust. Wanton celebration and senseless slaughter they embody in equal measure.

The fairy stands up as Sob's envoys approach, barely eight inches tall once upon her feet.

"Welcome to by domain, servants of Sob. Please, follow us a little way to where we can eat and drink together."

She gestures for them to follow, which is mirrored by the other fae. Then leads them further into her realm to where servants have laid out a small feast in a clearing of the woods.

Well, while I wait, I'mma add in a little bit of extra filler tidbits.

*ahem*

He had an internal fear that perhaps he had left the anonymous god too soon; as much as he would wish to get his fears solved and over with, he would prefer not making more enemies while at it. What if his 'leave' had given a bad impression that he was swift to lose what little ties he had with this stranger god? Granted: he feels that perhaps he should not hang out with such a being, but that doesn't mean that he--

Jeremy spoke, "Master, can I hug you?"

"Jeremy, I am busy comprehending what stratagems to explain to our newly found allies."

"Pleeeeease?"

"These are no times for foolish acts, my disci--"

"Pretty pleeeeease?"

As much as he understood that such an act of him being hug-held by a child would likely make him look foolish before the eyes of others, he'd be well-damned if he wasn't a sucker for peer pressure.

"....Fiine, you may go ahead."

"Yaaaaaay! C:" Jeremy easily picks up and hugs his 2-foot-long master, his arms just holding him by just the arms while having him face away. Jeremy giggled from embracing his master in a hug. "Love you, daddy."

"For the hundredth time, my disciple: Just because I am your new parental guardian does not mean I am your father. I am but a teacher that is guiding you to the proper path of Educa--"

Jeremy nuzzles his master's snootle, and he was at silence.

Yeh, randos.
Sorry. Shoulda clarified.

anyways

During the Librarian's leave, 26 random individuals (not all at once, obviously) manage to locate the Librarium while also managing to not be swayed by the outside Merchants.

Intruding upon the First Steps of Education, each unfortunate soul faced the pains of exploring such a segment as the First Steps of Education. As a matter of fact, of the 26 encountered them, only 8 managed to find the right door as the rest were doomed in the Jailing of Rehabilitation, involuntarily awaiting brainwashing

All 25 Scouts gathered in stealth as they watched over the 8 anonymous invaders. Unto each that arrived, the two Archmagi Scholars granted each one access to reading whatever books that they could reach - within the condition that they do not leave with said books.

>1st roll is for how many of the eight attempt to steal any of the books and - therefore - die. 2nd roll is for how many of the captured do not die from the process of Rehabilitation.
>>
>>109101
>damn

With great misfortune, six ignorant souls attempted to steal the books, and each one died from either the dangerous enchantments of the books, or from the very arcane hands of the Scouts. Only two individuals were respectful enough to keep any of the books upon Librarium grounds, taking advantage of their opportunity by reading as many tomes as they could get their hands on before growing literally hungry/thirsty, which was the only thing that stopped them from reading.

Not a single soul survived the process of Rehabilitation. Each one that had mindchanging knowledge forced upon their minds either committed suicide or had their heads blow up from sheer inability to fathom such education. The Aspect of Knowledge was - needless to say - displeased with this recent occurrence. Was this world damned to stupidity? Is 1/14 of the world really only caring for their selves over others?

It shook its head in feeling that it is somehow failing whatever duties it has.

Fifteen massive, square towers are both a defensive and decorational aspect of this elegant castle and are connected by high, thick walls made of white stone.
Gun turrets are scattered generously across the walls in an asymmetric pattern, along with overhanging crenelations for archers and artillery.
A sizable gate with heavy metal doors, a drawbridge, and a moat protects those in inside in this rough mountain pass and it's the only way in, if you can make it that is.
The animated skeletons of the local tribes shuffle aimlessly about the entrance to the pass

My song grows and, with it, my domain. I'm starting to sense other domains now, though our influence on each other is still far too weak to have any serious discernible effect.

Still, anyone in the Sweeping plains might want to finish up their business soon. Nouc'tirnodti sees no friend nor foe, just more areas to grow and thrive.

Sure.

The air is cold, like the inside of a frozen pool. And dark, not like the Labyrinth, where the thick drapes of nothing weigh down on your shoulders; this place is just...empty. But its hallways hum with power.

A shard of light punctures the gloom. It beams down from a tiny hole in the roof, at the centre of a vaulted dome. A pillar rises from the furrowed earth, the sunlight blazing against its surface. Sob steps forward. Something shatters, there's a stifled scream and scuffling. In the dark, behind the pillar, are two pairs of green eyes, set inside sharp and taut faces. Two women, wrapped in shawls and bangles. Priestesses, or sorcerers, or Sibylline oracles. Sob rasps his fingertips across his sword, and whispers to them.

"Whose realm is this? What beast are you? You seem human, and yet feel like power. I would dearly wish to speak with you, if I could."
