Welcome back to XI Primarch Primarch Quest, it’s been a little while since we last were here, sorry about that.

Last time Coron and his men established a plan to create a more advanced system of irrigation to the farms along the Phraate. After investigating the flight telemetry for the Drop Ship found when he first arrived Coron acquired the rough location of a large military installation- which he and his men set out to investigate.

Indeed, buried under mountains and sand many miles from Urak a large tunnel lead into the heart of a mountain. Exploring they found a massive metal door, torn by unknown forces and with numerous ‘corpses’ outside. Inside they navigated the dark metal tunnels until they came upon the reactor which they used to bring the facility back online.

The automated defenses which were activated at the same time struck hard as they moved through the facility- killing four and wounding more, including Namu. They did manage to make their way to the Command facility and disable the security functions, effectively taking over the facility.

First running post should come at 22:00 GMT.

Feel free to throw any questions in the mean time...

Planning on running once a week or twice? Also if players are low a while will you do timed votes or wait for X anons to show up?
>>
>>694239
I'd like to run twice a week, but I just don't know if it's feasible... so I'll say once a week run- and if an extra one cuts in occasionally that's how it goes.

As far as voting I'll definitely cut it off after 15/20 minutes if it's too slow. Same for rolls- I'll roll sets as necessary.

There’s no time to waste- so you and your men start moving the injured to the Medical facility inside the base. The autonomous functions inside are almost entirely nonfunctional- whether from age or the earlier surge you’re not yet sure… Still, it provides a brightly lit and well equipped area to tend to the wounded.

Initially you follow the lead of Daru, one of your men who has experience in providing crude amputations, shrapnel removal, and other such procedures- but it is not long before your intuition begins to provide you with more elegant solutions.

Daru gracefully takes the role of assisting in any way he can as you prepare for removal of the shrapnel too deep for him to either detect or retrieve. A variety of tools spring to mind and though you can only provide a description of them the two of you are able to collect a number of instruments to operate with- you steel yourself and dive into the gruesome work set before you.

You spend an unknown amount of time in the guts of your men and slowly your movements become… methodical. At first you must widen the wounds to adequately remove the scraps of metal, creating wounds that will scar gruesomely, but they will live. Quickly you refine your technique, becoming more precise, allowing for smaller incisions which will heal faster and leave smaller scars. It is not long after this that you do away with them entirely, removing the shrapnel through only the holes left by the munitions, something you suspect very few could manage without your atypical abilities.

Water from the canteens has been the only thing to provide relief to the man scorched through the carapace armor, thankfully the pain has put him in a delirious state preventing him from struggling and worsening his wounds. Pouring over the medical supplies your mind identifies an anesthesia and after a moment toying with the dosage the man is granted a reprieve to unconsciousness.

With steady hand you begin to extricate him from the carapace armor, cutting away portions that have melted and gruesomely fused with his skin. As it is a good portion of the flesh on his torso will scar horribly- that is if it does not become infected. Once again you look over the supplies- finding a small supply of salves meant to treat burns. For now all you can do is apply the salve and wrap the man in bandages while keeping him sedated…

Your men stabilized you begin looking over the rest of the facility- with the lights on and autonomous doors functioning it is quite a bit easier to navigate and much more welcoming- save the obvious remains of faculty in the form of tattered clothing. You’ll have those removed when you can afford the time for a proper burial of your own deceased...

As you move you suspect that the palace in Urak is slightly smaller than the this facility and certainly not as refined. The medical facilities are stocked with a variety of exotic synthetic supplies and advanced machinery to operate on patients where simple human dexterity is insufficient- to do things like what you managed earlier. Invaluable tools to prevent loss of life certainly, if you can return them to a functioning state.

Large sets of barracks- capable of housing at least a hundred men between them. The materials here have stood the test of time- metal bunked beds and synthetic cloth coverings fill the rooms, and most are rather pristine considering the circumstances. Based on the relative scarcity of the ‘remains’ of tattered clothes and other signs of life you imagine this facility was not fully staffed at the time of the cataclysm.

The great prizes here are of course the various facilities for producing or maintaining equipment and technology. Ballistic munitions production- similar to those that might be used inside your drop ship’s weaponry- are largely manual in their function, as a result they have been spared your earlier blunder and largely stand the test of time. Using scrap metals scavenged from the wastes and salt peter mined from areas along the Phraate you reckon you could begin production on a variety of munitions here…

There are also a variety of machines to create infantry weaponry- though it seems to be focused on the energy based weapons you’ve acquired- though you aren’t sure entirely as you cannot simply peruse the schematics held within. You are however certain that these facilities have been both damaged by age and the recent electrical surge- it’ll be a challenge to bring it all back online. Once you do- you’ll also have to figure out a way to supply it with materials, advanced alloys, and components. Scavenging will assuredly turn up enough to equip you and your small retinue, but an army? A problem for later…

Alongside those are production lines for the carapace armor you acquired earlier and other such infantry protection- though they’re in much a similar state. At least it should be easier to supply the necessary materials as these largely won’t require electrical components.

Luckily, while you currently have no means of creating new energy packs for your weapons there is a functional recharging station hooked into the reactor- you can technically replenish ammunition for your plasma and melta guns- though without means to create more every loss will surely be felt. The production lines that are focused around light land vehicles are in a similar state to the weaponry- while also requiring other synthetic materials for the wheels and fuel.

>>694279
Finally you come upon the ‘life-sustaining’ portions of the facility with machines meant to reclaim and store water, which lie empty and non-functional, along with row upon row of shallow trays with piping attached to each… Another connection and you understand these are used to grow plants suspended in a nutrient infused water, rather than soil. Fascinating, the concept could have its uses in Urak, if you could come to understand the entire process…

Now you’ve returned to the Command Center and have some time to look over the consoles and try to discern this facilities past and purpose. You can see the remnants of connections to other facilities, presumably similar to this one, either in function or ownership, but whatever infrastructure allowed that networking no longer exists- and even if it did you’re not sure the systems on this side still operate. Still you dig through the fractured historical records available.

Originally created just outside a large city which existed roughly where Urak sits today, this facility was made to monitor orbital threats- Urak lies today, such as long range ballistic missiles- back when a multitude of nations ruled the planet, referred to as ‘Iylara’ in the logs, each poised to destroy each other with devastating weapons. A war did break out- though not one that engaged in mutually assured destruction, which resulted in the installation/repurposing of the base into a wartime production facility.

Oddly, it seems the war ended with a truce of some kind, rather than destruction, which eventually resulted in a deconstruction of nations, the world melding together as one for a time. This facility was made largely defunct and manned by a minimum staff to maintain it for an unknown period of time- before the last known log, a multitude of large objects pegged as weaponry of some kind by the computers were launched from somewhere nearly nine thousand miles away, poised to strike all over the planet. This triggered an alarm broadcast across the network, a rapid exchange of now unintelligible communications between the palace at Urak and here took place, and a short while later the facility experienced catastrophic failure of its systems.

Someone, or something, stole peace from this world, though it is a testament to mankind’s resilience that civilization still exists at all this knowledge still angers you deeply. There is a certain satisfaction in seeing that mankind can indeed join together to create something greater, you will be sure to honor their memory by reforming what they lost.

Namu startles you from your reverie with a hand on your shoulder, you half think to scold him for moving from his resting position at all, but he seems to be handling his wound well enough.

“What’re we going to do now, Brother?”

“Bury the dead, treat the wounded, then we will return home until we can return and...“

It’s quite obvious you and your men need to delve deeper into the base’s facilities, where to start though?(Pick One)

>Hydroponics and waste reclamation. The potential usefulness aside, you’ve already begun construction on your irrigation systems- this could provide methods to further improve or assist your agricultural base.

>Infantry Weapons, there’s no clear and present threat right now- but who knows when the hordes to the east will catch wind of Urak? You need to be equipped, even if you’ll need to figure out a way to supply production.

>Infantry Armoring, you’ve seen the lifesaving abilities of the carapace armor made here already and you need to protect those who remain. Besides, it will be easier to supply the alloys than the advanced components for weapons.

>Light Vehicles, many of the restrictions on exploring the sands is the inability to move men and groups quickly over large distances, if you can get these functional and produce even a small number of vehicles they’ll act as force multipliers for scavenging.

>Munition production, It’s the most intact portion of the facility by far, which means you can begin tinkering with it immediately to produce ammunition for your Drop Ship, provide better munitions for your force’s rifles, and perhaps more.

>Write In(If you feel there’s something I missed which may be of interest)

You need more men and women to help you if you’re to educate those that you have now into something greater while still exploring and scavenging the sands. The Queen should be able to squirrel funds to you to grow your numbers.(Pick One)

>’Expand’ your scavenging franchise- there are nearly a thousand different men and woman operating as scavengers in the wastes, though they run almost entirely as small fractured groups- you’ll bring a good chunk onboard with you either as scavengers, hard laborers, or warriors.

>Recruit a large number of ‘craftsmen’ from the city. A good portion of the city are the merchants and tech ‘specialists’ who deal in the wide variety of pieces found among the sandsThey’ll be decent scavengers as well, though their military prowess will be low, primarily they’ll be able to pick out the rarer bits of tech.

Your return to Urak is thankfully uneventful and you spend much of your night back detailing what you found to the Queen. She offers her sympathies at the loss of your men, which you accept, before turning the conversation back to practical matters.

“This is quite a find- we’d better make good use of it…”

You nod along in agreement, the Queen pausing to ponder.

“I’ve already hired builders to begin implementing the water movement system you and yours designed… Perhaps the enhanced growing systems should be the first investigated, we might be able to further bolster the project.”

The idea is sound- and with no immediate threats you see no reason to do otherwise.

“A sound idea, we’ll begin looking into it immediately.”

Later, during the frigid night you and your men march into the sands and construct a pyre for those lost.

“We all bear more weight on our shoulders with this loss- we will undoubtedly become stronger for it if we manage to persevere. To do anything less would insult their memories.”

Namu steps back from the pyre once he finishes speaking and silence falls over the group, before everyone present lights a torch and in unison extends them towards the pyre, lighting it.

“When we return we will inform their families, it is our duty to take care of them in their stead.”

None disagree with your words and you all watch the pyre burn them to ashes and blown away by desert wind to mix with the sands of the world.

Returning to the facility you guide your men to the hydroponics section and begin explaining what you know of it to them.

“The nozzle here sprays a fine mist- which covers the plant in the growth enhancing mixture. The constant light of these lamps allows constant growing- the supply closets hold many replacements, hopefully we’ll be able to use the principles and supplies here to enhance the irrigation system we developed earlier- now, I’m willing to hear initial thoughts before we continue.”

Hours are spent pouring over and discussing every part of the system, the misting function is dismissed as improbably difficult but submersion is certainly a possibility. It’s unlikely you’ll be able to create a mixture as effective as what remains in the facility, but it is well known saltpeter is an effective fertilizer, and a few weeks of experimentation, with a variety of different prototypes shows an increased growth speed at every stage, from germination onward.

After that discussion mostly turns to how to introduce the mixture and what to house these in if we’re to use the bulbs to extend growth time. By the end you’ve a few options, each of which is rather effective and you’re certain your men have once again learned something.
>>
>>694489
You need more men if you’re to get more done, it’s a simple problem really... Initially you consider simply recruiting from the scavengers, setting up a large ‘company’ to manage them. You discarded that quickly, you need to do something more.

And so you set to the streets for days- weeks even, posing questions of life and reality to all who will listen. And listen they do, by the end you regularly draw crowds, many of which contain familiar faces, many of whom begin to see the value of your way of thinking. That man can be great, can rise out of their circumstances, and that it is only right to assist others once you have.

This is what you offer- to become a part of something more, and many of the merchants and craftsman of Urak are interested in what you speak of, your words reaching to something deep with in them.

So they pledge themselves to you- each offering different skills and specialties on the that found within the sands. It may be difficult to leverage them properly considering their mixed abilities, but they have a common thread far more important than skill, a desire to see humanity rise.

Now you’ve got a few hundred followers, no, believers… Implementation of your irrigation systems is well under way and already the farms have begun to expand to account for it… Soon your hydroculture developments will be introduced as well, and then you will reap a great many bounties.

What next?
General action, pick 2

From your new followers you pluck those you trust the most and who most understand and believe in your dream. Twenty men and women who will form a convoy and head down to the nearest city Laneve and collect information and establish a connection with the people of the city. You’ve given them enough supplies to hopefully operate for weeks within the city without trouble.

It is only prudent to meet with the Queen to see what she knows of your closest neighbor.

“They have no King or Queen, I know that, instead any laws and agreements are decided by vote- and the more farmland you own, protect, and operate, the more your vote is worth... It largely boils down to three or four biggest farms deciding on any major changes.”

A fascinating system of governance… Though the potential for tyranny by the larger farms is high, perhaps it works.

“And what of their ability to make war?”

The Queen looks unsure as she responds

“We’ve never had a problem with them- so I can’t be sure- but undoubtedly there are other cities along the great lake, it’s unlikely they’ve never been found by anyone with hostile intentions. I’d wager they’re at least capable.”

The conversation fades into pleasantries before you leave- you’ve many things to do.

It’s been a drudging but task to go through your new followers and ensure that they can all at least hold and fire a rifle or lasgun without hurting themselves. Many asked how the ability to fight was relevant to your goals- but you placated them, saying you would reveal exactly why you were doing this during a meeting of the whole group in the sands.

Now you are here, and many expecting faces look to you for your explanation…

“I wish I could say that we could simply build up our world and see our fellow men rise without being assaulted by beasts.”

You sigh, pacing as you speak.

“This is not the case.”

You halt abruptly.

“Many of you may have heard rumors- of far off armies marching on cities. Armies that cannot be negotiated with, that destroy all they come across.”

A frown spreads across your face.

“These rumors are true- in fact they may be even worse than you have heard.”

Fear grips the crowd immediately, but these men believe in you.

“Whatever they are- it does not matter.”

The confidence in your voice is absolute.

“You and I will stand as a shield against whatever threat lies among the sands, against whatever would threaten this city or humanity as a whole. It is an unfortunate, but necessary part of our goal.”

Your stance loosens and you begin to pace again.

“I will not lie, men have already died in my service- but the price they paid has allowed me to push ever forward.”
You climb to the top of a dune and raise a hand.
“I will never forsake this cause or you, even to my death, this I swear. For what else is worth dying for, if not our fellows?”

Solemn faces nod, and murmurs of agreement move throughout the crowd.

You smile.

The weeks pass by quickly- even as you spend more time overseeing the training of your followers. Earlier you’d decided to loan a contingent of them to the city- to help with the construction of the irrigation and hydroculture along the Phraate. You go among them for the day to assist, you do not have the time to show up regularly but you can inspire them for a day. A wave of content falls over those present as you move stone and brick- engaging in conversation with any who approach you, giving advice and praise at every turn.

Weeks later you’re seeing the results of this- construction has surged forward and many of those assigned have used personal materials to enhance functionality in a variety of displays of ingenuity. Pride surges through you as you review the materials- a working solar collector was donated to power a vast swathe of lighting, vastly enhancing the growing periods of the farms affected.

More good news- part of your envoy has returned and are ready to report on what they’ve learned…

They confirm what the queen offered earlier- along with telling you of the three families which hold the largest farms.

Entana, a family which singularly owns the most farm land of any family- though not quite enough to hold a sole majority. They’re quite wary, but expressed interest in establishing stronger trade ties with parties operating within Urak.

Babat, a large family which almost solely works within its own bloodline from farmers to traders. Refused any meeting.

Damuzi, operated by a single man of the name whom initially refused a diplomatic meeting- but was met with once the Entana was spoken with. Once the concept of enhanced irrigation was brought up, he became very interested, your diplomats spoke of it vaguely, unsure of your exact wishes.
>>
>>694771

The political climate is largely stable within Lavene, many of the smaller farms trade hands every season- but the three have been strong for decades and have largely settled into a workable set of agreements with eachother. The city center is rather small and spread out, most of Lavene’s citizens living on one of the farms.

As far as war capability each family has a variety of weapons, which it’s largely acquired from trade, but on a larger scale the outer rim of the deltas is kept un-developed, to dissuade any ground forces. And a variety of catapults and other weapons defend the shore line- ready to strike at any hostiles who approach. Though they haven’t had a war for decades- the last one brought on by a small fleet who were easily turned aside or sunk into the lake, nobody’s tried since.

Most interestingly is what caused the diplomat to be dispatched back. A small number of refugees came from a city, Lasin, which also exists along the great lake’s coast, many miles to the north east of Laneve. It seems part of the ‘horde’ has attacked the city with a variety of weapons, many of which hurl bolts of plasma and lasers… Though it appears they prefer close combat with bladed weapons. Eitherway, the city repelled the attack- but is now caught in a siege with little in the way of supplies.

92 on arguably on the least important roll of the night so far…

“We must act.”
Uncertainty flashes across the face of those present.
“We certainly aren’t properly equipped, the enemy almost certainly outnumbers us, but we go anyway.”
You stand- reaching for your weapons and armor.

Hours later you’ve assembled a campsite outside the city and nearly every man and woman among your followers has pledged themselves to this cause willingly.

In the face of the circumstances you revealed the existence of the drop ship to them all- the plan being to move batches of fighters and supplies towards Lasin, vastly hastening your travel time.

The first trip will be you and those best equipped, you’ll drop them within the city- allowing them to move to its defense.

Namu has insisted he come with you, and you see no reason to refuse.

And so you take off- departing from the vast majority of your forces who will wait for a return trip.

It’s a long flight, and you stay high in the night sky, hoping to avoid being spotted.

There, in the distance, a great walled city- walls illuminated by blasts of plasma and muzzle flashes, the assault goes on even now.

You break off towards the great lake- planning to come in low around the side of the city.

Suddenly the cockpit is illuminated as a plasma bolt flies by- a number more uselessly splash against the hull of the dropship, completely ineffective at this range.

“They’ve spotted us- I can hardly see down there, but it looks like there’s lots of movement.”

Namu’s words are true as your vision can attest, you can make out a variety of humanoid shapes moving along the dunes outside the city…

As your eyes narrow you notice something disturbing- the horde is made up of... monsters.

Humans with twisted and mutated blood red flesh sit outside the city in an almost uncountable number- most seem unarmed but you’d wager that they’re more than able to kill with their clawed hands.

Among them you spot a banner, you’ve never seen the symbol upon it before, but it feels you with an eerie sense of familiarity and disgust.

You’re approaching the city now, you must decide where to land.

>The largest building- it’s made of stone but there’s a decent chance it’s where whomever rules this city resides.

Are we the only people who can fly the ship and land it? Or can we program an autopilot routine to land it in the city?
>>

Namu can pilot the ship- you've been teaching him in your spare time.

He's nowhere as good as you- but he can do it.

In that case let's drop ourselves and a large contingent of our people at the gates, let Namu take over with a squad to deliver the supplies to the center of town and handle distribution

Oh and of course your laspistol(DAoT tier, a lasgun in your hand)

>>695166
You dive down around the city and point the ship towards the gates, which is thankfully metal- though you can see dents in it even now.

Approaching the walls you can see they are well manned, nearly a hundred guards are firing down on the red horde with a variety of weaponry- largely rifles and other ballistics though a few lasguns are mixed in.

“Namu, take over the controls.”

He seems surprised but he does not hesitate to act, slipping into the co-pilot’s seat.

“You’ll drop us off outside the gates- on the walls if we can manage it- then you’ll take Daru and three of the riflemen with you towards the city center, hand out the supplies we’ve got and take care of any wounded. If you sense any hostility, get out, if you can’t rendezvous with us, go home.”

You check over your weapons once more, and those around you do the same.

“Right now our job is just to provide some extra fire power- once we’ve got some info on what exactly is out there we’ll see what else we can manage.”

Nods of understanding accentuate Namu’s shout.

“We’re coming in, I’m turning it around and opening the back, get ready!”

Smooth lines form with you at the front.

Even in the short months you’ve been here you’re the tallest man present.

Thank god that carapace armor still fits.

The back opens smoothly and the sight of twenty men staring at you becomes clear- though many are already clearing a path for you to drop onto.
>>
>>695172
“We’re here to help!”

You shout as you leap from the ship onto the stone walls- hoisting your melta gun.

In an instant you’re peering over the wall at the teeming masses of human abominations- an instant later swathes are being erased under the intense blasts of heat from your weapon.

You can hear the drop ship moving away from you now- towards the city.
Your men line up beside you, each taking aim over the walls crenulations and unleash a torrent of death upon the siege.

Though you have not trained with them explicitly it seems as though each of them has been preparing for this moment in their own spare time- for their aim is unerring and extremely deadly.

Only moments pass before the wave that had been descending upon the gates is either dead or fleeing back into the masses among the dunes.

Briefly you survey the battlefield- catching a view of the banner you saw before… Standing next to it is a eleven feet tall abomination with glowing red eyes bearing an axe and crude armor decorated in skulls.

He locks eyes with you- and something passes between you, though you’re not sure what.

You are sure that killing him will be an integral part of breaking the siege.

Your reverie is broken by a gruff voice you do not recognize

“Who the hell are you?”

Looking at the mans finery you guess him to be a commanding officer of some kind.

“I am Coron. My men and I came as soon as we heard that your city was under siege.”

You extend a hand- and after a few moments he takes it.

“Nabi-Sin, my thanks to you, though we’re going to need a lot more if any of us want to get out of here alive.”

You nod

“I’ve got something of plan.”

>Wait for another wave- once it’s broken you and your men will do a pass in the drop ship to try and take out what you saw... and try not to get shot down.

>Fortify entirely, send Nabu back to begin bringing more supplies and men. You’ll stay on the wall to offer your superior skill and inspiring presence. Once you’ve got the extent of your militia you can make a move.

>>Write-In(heavily encouraged)
Do an ammunition check and then ballpark estimate on when reinforcements can arrive. We just beat back the enemy, but can we keep up the pressure until help arrives? Think, man.
>>
>>695185
Questions I can answer now....

Assuming you have to use roughly the same ammunition you did for this one you've got about 4 maybe 5 waves before you've gotta switch to ballistics.

Save your laspistol, that thing's damn near infinite.

According to Nabi, waves have been pretty consistent at roughly every 2 hours.

A round trip to pick up supplies/men is about six hours, though you don't have more ammo for your big guns.

Nabi also informs you that they aren't currently fielding their whole militia, rather operating in shifts. If necessary they could bring up more men to hold the wall during a critical moment.
>>
>>695180
Use the Meltagun to try and kill the behomoth which is probably the leader, in the meantime get more reinforcements.
>>
>>695207
Excellent. There's our answer. We bleed the enemy, give ground if we have to, and we can use the drop ship later if shit goes south.

>Fortify entirely, send Nabu back to begin bringing more supplies and men. You’ll stay on the wall to offer your superior skill and inspiring presence. Once you’ve got the extent of your militia you can make a move.
>>
>>695216
Meltagun's pretty short range, you'd have to pierce through the masses to reach him- unless you want to take up use of the drop ship... in which case if you win you're still surrounded by the enemy.
>>
>>695180
>Fortify entirely, send Nabu back to begin bringing more supplies and men. You’ll stay on the wall to offer your superior skill and inspiring presence. Once you’ve got the extent of your militia you can make a move.
>Ammo count and medical count too.

>Fortify entirely, send Nabu back to begin bringing more supplies and men. You’ll stay on the wall to offer your superior skill and inspiring presence. Once you’ve got the extent of your militia you can make a move.

I'm agreeing with this, though with an idea here. Do they have any sort of voice projecting tech? We should be able to inspire the city and even call out the elader into a combat challenge, he's favored of Khorne I'm surprised he's waiting away from the city to be honest. Then if we can't lure him to us we wait for reinforcements so that we can make an effective sortie
>>
>>695231
I don't like our chances against the Khornate in CQC. Primarch or no, that's gonna be hard.
>>
>>695231
Supporting, also if we could get in a duel with the behomoth/leader the meltagun should make quick work of him assuming the behomoth would want close combat since its wielding melee weapons.

Sorry if Im over estimating the meltagun's capabilities, but it should nevertheless be enough to defeat it as we're a primarch.
>>
>>695231
Nothing explicitly, but you and your men are tech savvy enough that you could definitely try to rig something up. A challenge is possible- when something passed between you he was certainly piqued, you might be a roight proppa fight...
Nabi does tell you that initially this was pitched combat with bigboy and some pals just outside open city gates- it was only by some level of luck and skill upon present militia that they weren't immediately broken and the city overrun- after that failed the teeming masses outside began to assemble- the original force was nowhere near this big.

Eitherway, vote-closed,

Do we have spare barrels of gunpowder/saltpeter? or do we not since we use bullets and batteries? Would be nice if we could juryrig some makeshift bombs and bomb the enemy from our dropship if things get rough. Or anything we could find really, firebombs from lamp oil or any flammable liquid like alcohol we could throw at them to make firebombs.
Or we could just shoot them.
>>
>>695325
You could definitely request some barrels of gunpowder be brought in the supply run.

Yeah requisition some gunpowder, though the dropship would probably comeback in the later stages of the siege, barrel bombs are nice.

Something juryrigged like this pic would be cool, though obviously we cant weld fins nor really make much while under siege.

>>695349
You underestimate the welding potential of a determined primarch with a meltagun.

Since you're a primarch, 2 crits, you're an angel of death with a meltagun now...

“We’ll fortify with you, keep pushing back the waves while my friend in the aircraft brings more reinforcements and supplies. Once we’ve got the totality of our forces we strike.”

Nabi nods and shouts at some of his men who stare at you in varying degrees of awe.

“Did that sound like reprieve? Show times over, back to watching the dunes!”

You turn to your men and begin to lay out some orders

“I want to rig up something to amplify my voice- we’ll need somethings from the dropship- which reminds me, send Namu back for supplies and reinforcements and few barrels of gunpowder…”

Roughly two hours later while you and your men are looking at the possibility of amplifying your voice the second wave descends- shouts of alarm ring across the wall as you and hundreds of others prepare to fire.

Your men have started to lose their edge, clearly tired after multiple hours flying and waiting.

You however seem to only be improving.

Short precise bursts of the meltagun erase group after group of abominations, cutting many down before they even reach the gate. Eventually the men immediately around you stop firing altogether- you act too fast for them to even find viable targets. You can positively feel your ability and skill with ranged weaponry improving- advancing.

You are told soon after the wave breaks that apparently this was record time.

Well, back to working on the voice amplification..
Finally you’ve rigged up something usable, as you turn it on reverb bursts forward and you lift the mouth piece up-

“People of Lasin, first allow me to say it is unfortunate that we did not meet under more pleasant circumstances.”

You pause letting the sounds reverberate through the city streets.

“I am Coron of the sands, I hail from Urak, a city west of here, I came as soon as I learned of your peoples plight.”

You can see movement from your position up on the walls- a few citizens listening from windows and stopped in the streets.

“We broke the attacking line as we arrived- and we will stay with you until the entirety of their force is broken and your city freed. Even now supplies such as food and medicine are being handed out, and there is more to come.”

“Do not despair, instead, rebel. These monsters would take your home and raze it- instead we will raze them. Show them that Lasin and its people will stand for a hundred years to come, regardless of their pathetic siege!”

You can only hope your words reach them.
>>
>>695430
It seems that it does- Nabi informs you that the streets have calmed- allowing them to move a few militia off policing and onto the wall.

People only need to be reassured that there’s a plan and that someone is looking out for them.

And you are.
The following waves go very similarly, you seem incapable of tiring or experiencing any kind of fatigue at all- as the shift change comes and the militia men are switched out many thank you for your presence.

“You’ve given as much as I have- don’t tell yourself otherwise.”

Namu has already managed a few trips arriving with more supplies and contingents of your followers- and your barrels of gunpowder.

“What exactly are you planning with these?”

You look out upon the behemoth- who has grown ever closer as you’ve displayed your combat ability- now upon the foremost dunes.

Or the champion will die and their favor with Khorne will end. Heck, the first one isn't out of the question. Warbands break and run when the tide turns or they get rekt by imperial forces.

So Namu made hour long trips back to Urak with supplies or he was just doling stuff out from the ships cargo that we already brought?

Does the ship have a clock on it?
>>
>>695487
He managed two trips- packing the bitch full of supplies and armsmen. There is a clock.

Took him about eleven hours. Daylight's broken, shift changes have happened, but your two managed to conserve melta and plasma gun ammo. And five waves have come and been annihilated by you. That's what I meant by time skip- sorry I get more incoherent the later it becomes.

I'll give ya a couple more minutes till I close the vote.

Namu gives you a concerned look.

“Clearly you need to rest my friend- you’re becoming delusional.”

You laugh heartily-

“I think not, look out there Namu, the masses have barely thinned in the hours I have spent slaughtering waves of abominations. Whatever that behemoth is I need to end it to end this. Just… be ready to shoot it I start to try and scale the wall…”

Namu’s laugh can only adequately be described as pained.

It’s an equally trying task to convince Nabi of your plan, but it’s hard to argue with you.

The barrels of gunpowder have been meticulously filled with a variety of shrapnel to maximize damage- a solid las gun shot to these will set them off.

You take up the voice amplifier as your men get ready to drop the make-shift bombs down while you distract the beast.

“This charade should come to an end, I think. The real fight is between me and you- I at least have proven my ability quite well… and while I’ve heard a bit about you I rather think I’d like to see it for myself.”

You can hear the things laugh from here disturbing as it is men around you shiver at the sound of it.
>>
>>695669
Still, you have its attention and in that time the barrels have been deposited onto the sands below- you step onto one of the foremost crenulations, the melta gun at your side.

“So let’s put it to the test.”

The behemoth wastes no time in hefting its axe and rushing forward from the dunes, taloned feet ripping through the sands. Many of its abominations are following- though they can’t even begin to match the speed of this spirit

You ready yourself, lowering yourself into a position to leap onto the beast.

It’s nearing already, impossibly fast for such a beast, it begins to shout-

“YOUR SKULL WILL JOIN KHORNE’S THRO-“

The explosion deafens even you and the beast is thrown backwards, huge portions of its malformed body torn to shreds-

You leap onto the sands, and take off running, hoisting the meltagun as the abomination begins to regain its footing, a powerful swing from its axe heads towards you as it tries to stand.

You cannot afford to dodge and miss the chance to hit it while it is down.

It buries itself deep in your side- sending shockwaves of pain unlike any you’ve ever felt, but you’re still up- with a meltagun inches from its face.

Heat blasts into the twisted abomination- incinerating large portions of its horned head and turning the sands around you to glistening glass.

A clawed hand reaches up, desperately looking for purchase among your armor.

You are lucky it finds none.

The incineration continues as your vision begins to blur- the red skinned behemoth slumps to the ground and still you burn it- you’ll burn it until nothings left.

The teeming masses are approaching now- you can hear them- they might be able to kill you in this state but all that matters is that this affront to humanity dies- never to return.

Oh, you’re out of ammo.

The drop pod lands in front of you- Namu’s shouting something though you can’t quite make it out even as arms pull you into the aircraft.

Time for a nap.

I assume this is by the city walls, my first read of it made me think we went onto the dropship to jump off and fight him.

>drop pod
I hope that is a typo because if we have a drop pod that can fly we could have filled it with explosives and shot it at the chaos guy.
