First Post:

This is a Fantasy quest, probably a one-time shot but may continue it if it goes over well. For multiple question posts, please allow others to post for the other questions beneath the first in order to allow multiple participants. Also, if gunpowder in fantasy settings isn't your thing, then you may want to steer clear; utilizing the same idea for basic firearms in Pathfinder (flintlocks, blunderbusts (shotgun), rifle, basic explosives).

First up is the character creation:

(i see im only supposed to answer 1 question at a time)

>>528149
is only fair, I don't want people to feel theyre in a rush. First person to answer the question gets that particular one.

after this segment we should be getting to the story. Any questions comments concerns while we flesh out the rest of our character.

Also name? Are we going with Villiam?

nah just one character. Apologies for the misunderstanding. The choices will be shared among those who participate.

>>528160
the character was already chosen. I let the first slide but from now on if there's multiple questions please answer with separate posters.

>>528155
Gauntlets. Okay.

These gauntlets were made by Silvershield Smiths who have a hold within the same mountain as Thunderspire, though that is a separate area itself. I will explain more in due time.

These particular gauntlets when speaking the Dwarven word of flame, Flee'io, will ignite. This will do one of two things, either set the current weapon aflame if the gauntlets sense a held weapon, or alight the gauntlets themselves to have a slight flame to it. Either cause burn damage. If the weapon leaves the owner's hands for some reason whilst in combat, then the enhancement is transferred back to the gauntlets. Lasts long enough for one combat session (though up to QM discretion if combat goes beyond 10 rounds).

One last piece. We'll assume he is wearing the heaviest medium armor, splint mail.

How did he acquire the piece (for flavor)?

>Inheritance from Father's glory days

>Prying off the body of a minor orc chieftan

>A gift from the Silvershield Dwarves in return for doing quest soon to be described.

Good, your party that you are currently travelling with encountered some forest orcs that had journeyed from the wastes of Belkzen into Varissia, which neighbor upon the very mountain line that the quest will take place within. Your group was able to track down their small camp after a botched assault whilst journeying on the road coming from a brewery, where you got more information on a relic you have been sent to find... (more later)

Side Note:
Yes I stole Belkzen and Varissia from Pathfinder Galorian setting; I would highly encourage you pick a copy of the Belzen setting up if you don't own it already. If nothing else makes for a good read.

Still need a secondary choice, someone fill that in and we shall proceed.
>>
>>528196
>Inheritance from Father's glory days

Villiam will be stronker than father.
>>
Also for elaboration on how this quest will work; rolls will be made using a d20 (skill checks, attack rolls, will saves etc). Armor breaks will result in damage, and in this case a greatmace is a roll of 2d6.

Skills taken will have a +5 bonus (plus or minus any circumstantial bonuses).

QM rolls will be made on the side (I will not bluff rolls, that is blasphemy) for sake of keeping rolls private as is tradition.

We'll assume as a barbarian that Villiam has some mobility, and as such with splint mail has an 18 Armor Class (AC from here on out).

His STR will give him an automatic +3 on damage (we'll also apply str to skill checks related to such).

Fortitude is a +4
Reflex is a +3
Will is a +2

He has the ability to rage as a barbarian, 4 times a day. Fatigue will take its toll and he will need to catch his breath shortly after rage has ended. This will give him +2 on attack and damage rolls, and increase his hit points by 8. He currently has 55 hp not in rage form.

This is all done just to speed things up.

If there are no further questions we shall begin ....

THANK YOU

Below is the intro (don't expect them all to be this quick. This was the premade part, the rest will be generated over time as fast as I can type.)

Your character awakens with a throbbing headache, and a small pile of rubble laying on top and alongside him. A slight wave of panic jolts through (name here) as you realize the aftermath of what occurred after entering a chamber deep within Thunderspire Labyrinth.

(some background here)
Thunderspire Labyrinth a maze of chambers devoid of civilized life, save for The Market made up of archaeologists and general suppliers not far from the initial entrance. The market from your point of view was composed mostly of general underground dwellers; dwarves and duregar living together, as well as gnomes and halflings as merchants. There were of course a sporadic human or half-orc here and there, but they served mostly as militamen, bouncers to the local inn there, and another group of fortune seekers that were headed in another direction within the Labyrinth. There are of course, many unknown relics yet to be claimed from the depths of the Labyrinth; as the truce between the dwarves and duregar was only recently signed not 5 years ago in order to prevent encroachments from the Underdark deeper within the Labyrinth. To the west lies the entrance from which you came from the Varisian side. To the north the Hold of the Silvershield Dwarves. East, the Mines of the Duregar. And to the south lies the entrance to the Underdark, where fouler things are beginning to creep, which was also the direction of this particular expedition that your group of 5 decided to trek upon.

(pt 1 of 2)
>>
You know from the charts previewed before your expedition that you are miles from a safe haven. The journey to the chamber was mostly uneventful, save for a close call with a giant, golden minotaur statue that your party was warned not to chisel gems off of. Despite the warning, one of your companions in your group, by the name of Yonstead Griffin, a roguish halfling, was stopped by another by the name of Rex Stiffhammer, a rather large human. While Rex was not known to be the most intelligent, he does heed warnings when they are given by locals to the area, one that came from a militiamen just as your group set out along the Road of Horns to the south. The guard, who remains nameless, only said this:

"Beware the temptations of the embezzled emeralds along the Road of Horns. There is a reason those gems have laid in their place for such a long time, best to leave them where they lie, lest the Golden Horned Ones you defy."

He would say no more on the topic when pressed, only slightly pleading with you to listen. Larissa Steinheart, a female elven caster seemed unusually nervous for her kind after this was spoken, and her nervousness about the expedition continued throughout the walk. While the others may not have noticed, you had known her the longest; you knew her behavior was amiss when she began to grab her holster at almost every odd sound and bump in the tunnels as she walked beside you. Her anxieties troubled you, and it had crossed your mind on whether this would be your last expedition with the group, as this was a more dangerous and the most guarded along road towards the marketplace. Your last companion, Trey Monarch, who was considered the leader and the most cunning of the group, seemed the most eager to be on this expedition, and while heeding the warning, did not seem phased by the warning. He stayed quiet while leading most of the journey, torch in his left and steel war axe in his right.

When Yonstead reached for the gem, chisel in hand, Rex had grabbed him by the back of the neck, lifting him until he agreed to drop the chisel and foresake his quest for an extra gem, albeit could have been his last. Rex confiscated the chisel, saved for a future less superstitious task. You could have sworn you heard a snort of approval coming from the statue as you left it behind, though no one else, save Larissa with her Elven hearing seemed to notice. A look of worry had crossed her face as her gaze met yours, and sent shivers down your spine.
>>
Your party was seeking a dagger of legend among both the Silvershield Clan and the Duregar Miners. About half an age past, before the war between the two holds, was a time where they worked together against a ring of beholders capable of necromatic power and charm among the fouler things that lurk in the Underdark. While many lives were lost, eventually the beholders were hunted down and slain and the denizens of the Underdark that were organized became scattered, mostly retreating back to whence they came. Unfortunately this large victory broke down as negotiations to claims on land broke fell apart. Eventually both clans decided to leave the area unsettled and recede back into their main holdings, similar to a present day DMZ, in order to keep the peace. The 5 year war between the duregar and dwarves of Thunderspire, which so happened to end about 5 years ago has left both armies no longer at their peak potential due to infighting.

Back to the subject, the dagger was known as the Bane of Zak'Thrash, which slew that particular named Beholder during the War of Beholding. It belonged to a royal-blooded duregar by the name of Unto'Vishae, who was able to sneak atop a pillar behind Zak'Thrash and deliver a spectacular blow by leaping upon it, and cutting its main eye out from behind whilst distracted by the combined Silvershield and Duregar forces. Relics like these are being sought out in order to restore a sense of pleasantry between the two holds, and you are one of the parties enlisted by an employer to do just that. You recall the many-gemmed dagger in a book shown to you by a beer-brewer that resided outside of Thunderspire who belonged to the Silvershields. Its look is unmistakable and unique, and once found there will be no doubt that you have found what you have sought out for.

(pt 3 of 2 (lol?))

OP our name can just be
>Villiam
A barbarian aspiring to be the stronkest.
>>
As you recalled the more distant memory of the journey, still feeling groggy from the blast that occurred, you began to recall in painful detail what had happened prior to your flatback state. Two basilisks had emerged from hiding within the first chamber, behind some long deserted barrels to the left side of the chamber. You didn't get a good look at the rest of the room as the room went black shortly after you recall a loud blast of fire emit from Larissa's fingertips. You assume the barrels had some sort of explosive substance within, judging by the aftermath and sequence of events that had occurred. Your vision begins to clear and adjust to the pitch black room. Still on your back, you hear the slight crumbling of another debris pile somewhere off to your left, looking to the sound you can see the remanants of the barrels that indeed had exploded as well as a much larger pile of rubble. Looking to your right, you see several other piles of stone where pieces of the walls and roof have collapsed, but it is hard to tell with the darkness surrounding whether or not they could hide a potential companion or four.

Do you:

>Get up and arm yourself

>Fetch a torch from your bag to get a better look

>Look through the other piles for another companion to rouse
>>
>>528216
>Look through the piles for another companion to rouse.

Hopefully we find either the elf.
She shoots fire or the other human cause he sounds stronk.
>>
>>528218
I agree, even if we find larissa dead we may be able to loot her flint lock
>>
>>528218
As you rise to your feet, getting slightly light-headed as you stand up after being downed for an unknown amount of time, you begin blinding sifting through the nearest rubble pile. You feel what seems to be a statue head with a rather Roman-feeling nose underneath one of the piles. Chuckling, you think to yourself,

"This nose is just as big as Yonstead's, I hope the old bugger's okay."

As your eyes continue to adjust to the darkness, you begin to light a torch to get a better look of the area. To your horror, the oddly similar nose of Yonstead proves to be just that. Yonstead's face was grimmaced with his eyes closed shut and his mouth wide open, Roman-sized nose and all. You put two and two together, and realize that one of the basilisks had turned Yonstead to stone; just by giving into the fear of a basilisk will turn ye into stone, and that is just what happened. As disappointment and sadness sets in, you hear a much louder rustle from the same pile behind you. A loud hiss emits from the pile, and with one final push, one of the basilisks rises to its feet and prepares to assault you. You have just enough time to drop the torch to provide some light for the upcoming combat, but your great mace still lies on the side of the pile you just rose from, about 10 feet away.

Do you:

>Attempt a tumble to avoid an incoming attack and snag your weapon

>Reach for your club

>Scream like weak girl you are, Villiam.

>Do something else..?

Roll for tumble if chosen please. 1 d20

+5 for the skill taken, so total is a 14.

As you make the roll, the basilisk, while seemingly to be quite bloodied from the previous impact, still has enough strength in it to tail whip you and knock you on your ass mid roll. However, you are able to land next to your weapon so that's a good start. The basilisk seemingly waits for you to get up, and your eyes lock with its.

Please make a Fortitude save. And don't fuck up.

As the tail whip hits you to the ground, the basilisk bears its teeth. Fear washes over you, despite your best attempt to remain vigilant. Your eyes begin to dim gray, and you feel that all is lost. Just before your vision goes dark, you hear a mad warcry similar to Xena (anyone remember her from that TV show?) emit from a female.

Darkness takes you, and for a short while, you feel nothing. You truly are one stoned individual right now, Villiam.

However, all is not lost. A vision takes over your mind. An out of body experience, as one would call it. You see yourself darting through the next passageway in this spirit or dream form through a first person view. What you catch is brief, and too fast to make any detail of it (you're stoned, remember?), but your speed slows to a screeching halt, as you see the very thing you have come for. The Bane of Zak'Thrash.

Glinting in the darkness, it seemingly beckons to you with its beauty. Something shifts in the darkness, and panic again washes over you, the same panic that you felt when meeting the basilisk. But something more powerful, much fouler. Something that you cannot see, but can sense.

Suddenly, you feel a warm wash of liquid wash over you. The foul taste of blood fills your mouth and you are disgusted to find the same basilisk that turned you into stone now on top of you, bleeding out. A female voice, that of Larissa's, says feebishly,

"I'm sorry, that was the only way to bring you back. The blood of a basilisk is the only way to reverse the damage done, you're lucky I was here, and not.... well... we won't go into that."

You continue to cough and vomit, but you feel much better than you did about 2 minutes ago. The last surge subsides and you look up towards Larissa. She is wiping off her short sword with a handcloth she showed you on one of your travels. It was a gift from her mother, one that cleanses blades without leaving a stain upon the cloth, "Elven magic truly is wondrous, even to natives who have been around it all their lives," she said when telling you about it.

Again, your gaze meets hers, and you feel the polar opposite of what you felt when looking into the basilisk's cold, yellow beady eyes.

Her blue-green eyes meet yours, and she smiles faintly.

"It's good to have you back Villiam, now let me get to work on Yonstead before the blood bleeds out."

Do you:

>Help her move the basilisk on top of Yonstead in similar fashion

>Rush in for a hug and thank her for saving you, helping her as above afterwards

>Light a smoke from your tinder box, and nod while she does the dirty work, like a housemaiden should in your manly opinion

Even though Villiam is totally covered in gruesome basilisk blood and bile, Larissa returns the hug, smiles again, and says, "Now lets get Yonstead on his feet shall we."

You, Villiam, with your rather large arms help lift this giant lizard on top of Yonstead. After about 30 seconds, Yonstead begins to have the same reaction that Villiam had, coughing and vomiting whilst uttering Halfling curses to the tune of:

'Disha vishnook!'

Villiam has no idea what it means, but Larissa chuckles abit and gives the same explanation to Yonstead as she did to Villiam.

"It was only necessary, unless you wish to join the 'Golden Horned Ones' she says in a mocking tone, then jumps at another sound coming from the hallway of the main passage you just came from.

Peeking down, you see nothing at first, but low and behold, near one of the illuminated statues, you see what appears to be a pony-driven wagon, alongside a couple of guards, on either side. As they get closer, they appear to be of dwarven height, and they seem to spot you off in the distance as you hear a tune sung by the cart-driver.

Before I write this out, does anyone here how to use italics, because I don't know if/how to toggle it. I'd like to use it if possible.

Regardless, I'll write it out, I looked it up I don't think 4chan supports italics, would be a good idea if mod is watching by chance.

Your ears can't quite pick up the tune just yet, but Larissa beside you catches her breath.

"She's singing a duregar tune, I'm not an expert on duregar language, but I will tell you what I know if you wish."

(set to the tune and pitch of 'All Shall Fade' from the LOTR movie with pippin, if anyone likes immersion here. I thought it was cool when I made it for a personal campaign I want to run, so I threw you guys something to rate lemme know what you think. Not sure what dark dwarf sounds like but here's my best rendition of writing it xD)

Dun ba gahst

Vee-est vun ti dahst

Dun ba gahst

Di vas unt di ti bon

Dun ba gahst

Vi diad, unt vi alee

As Larissa translates she explains the first repeated line means, and follows up on the lines afterwards

"What lurks ahead is Dun ba gahst I think. Is it friend or foe. And then..... Vi diad unti vi alee means will it ilive or will it die."

The duregar language flows off her tongue so elegantly, you wish to complement her on her accentless tone, but decide against it for the reason of unimportance.

Do you:

>Approach the cart and attempt to converse

>Ignore the cart

>Attack the cart
