"This is a bit awkward, but... do you have a name?"

She raises her eyebrow in a seductive way as she gazes at Jack.

Lunar Guardian
"Oh?~ Want to meet again later, hmm?~"

Jack blushes a bit.

Yuna
"Well, we don't usually refer to ourselves as individuals seeing that we are the will of the goddess, but if you need a way to identify me, you may refer to me as Yuna~"

Jack Chitin
"Yuna? That's an beautiful name."

Yuna
"Well, aren't you the charmer?~ If you continue, I might not be able to control myself~", she said in a seductive way

Instead of letting out an embarrassed reaction, like usual, Jack takes a deep breath.

Jack Chitin
"Then don't~ I like it when you're feral, it excites me~ Next time feel free to bite~", he said with his head up high, looking her in the eyes with a confident smile

Yuna looks at him in awe, out of breath. She violently grabs his bandages and pulls towards her, passionately kissing him. Jack grabs her neck and pushes her back a bit, their breath shivering from lust.

"Not now... Later~"

Consumed by lust, Jack punches the nearby tree, violently snapping it in half, discharging the power surging through his body. Yuna speaks up.

Yuna
"I'm... proud~ Those weren't just hollow words, you really are willing to accept who you are~", she said in a caring tone

Jack Chitin
"Like I said, I'm done dragging myself around. Time to see who the Jack that was buried underneath, really is."

Yuna embraces him with another, more gentler kiss, signalling that they continue walking. While they walk, Jack thinks to himself.

Jack Chitin
[I'm not going to lie... this actually feels good, asserting my power and dominance. Why have I been such a pathetic weakling for such a long time...]

As Jack and Yuna return to both Velvet and the Yuni, they are met with a comic scene. Velvet is slowly ripping her hair out in frustration as the Yuni keeps blabbering about.

Yuni Guardsman
"So yeah uhmm, there was like this huge uhhhh hairball I vomited the other day, and you won't believe what it looked like..."

Velvet interjects and runs towards Jack, hugging him.

Yuni Guardsman
"F-FINALLY... ahem, thank g-goodness you r-returned, Jack!"

Jack signals for Yuna to lead the way towards Feralia. As they walk, they pass some old Lunar ruins. Jack whispers the information he gathered, as well as the "diplomacy".

Jack Chitin
"Listen Velvet, I'm grateful for everything, but I'm done restricting myself based on others' expectations. I want to find out who I really am."

Velvet looked away and just nodded. At first Jack was worried at her unusual response, but part of him wanted to act like this, to feel powerful and not chained down.

Jack gets closer to Velvet and takes a peek under her hair, it's just her eyes, everything seems normal. However, she doesn't want to look at Jack, it seems she's upset about something. Jack thinks to himself.

Jack Chitin
[Is she mad because of the relationship she's expecting, or is it something else? Hmm, I wonder...]

Yuna grabs the crew's attention by speaking up.

Yuna
"We're here."

Jack notices a stone doorway sticking out of the nearby boulders. As Yuna recites some words and gestures with her hand, the door suddenly opens, emanating a cold gust. The crew enters and starts to descend into the darkness. As the door magically closes by itself, the nearby torches light up on their own. After a few moments of walking they reach a reception of sorts.

Yuna
"Alright, you, little one. Go back to your business.", she said while pointing at the Yuni Guardsman

The Yuni salutes and enters the nearby room.

Yuna
"As for you two, feel free to sit down. The goddess is currently busy, she will be ready for an audience shortly."

As the seductive Lunar Guardian slowly leaves the scene, she turns to gaze Jack and blows him a kiss, all while showing a lustful smile. Jack winks at her and sits down. Suddenly a loud hiss.

Yuni Priestess
"Hey, what's the big idea, buddy?!"

Jack jumps a bit, noticing that he sat on a Yuni's tail.

Jack Chitin
"Pardon me."

Yuni Priestess
"Well, to be fair, I should be more aware of where I put that thing."

Jack Chitin
"So, you waiting for Lua as well?"

Yuni Priestess
"Yes, she wants to talk to me. I'm one of the best priestess in my generation. Maybe it's a promotion.", she said in a excited tone

Jack Chitin
"Tell me, did you meet her before? How is she like?"

Yuni Priestess
"Oh the goddess is simply amazing! It's a shame about the Yuni and what we are now, but she doesn't want to abandon us. Bless her soul!"

Jack looks at the priestess in an intrigued way.

Yuni Priestess
"However, she has lots of enemies. I don't know why though... I guess everybody wants to win the Deity War. I hope the goddess wins though, not only for her sake, but for ours as well."

Jack thinks of a suitable reply. He thinks of something a bit more brash, trying to tap into his inner emotions.

"Did you know that I'm actually here for a lewd conversation with the goddess?", he said while pointing at his muscular pecs, letting out a smug smile

Yuni Priestess
"Oh my...", she said in a flustered expression, placing her tiny paws on her mouth

Jack closes his eyes and nods in a smug way, giving notice that's he's pretty important.

Yuni Priestess
"You must be the young insect then?! Are you really gifted like rumors say?!", she said in an excited tone

"Wait what?! How do you know about that?!", he said in a surprised and confused tone, a bit scared

Yuni Priestess
"Rumors go among the oracles and priests, saying that somewhere out there is a Buzzer with great potential... I can't believe it's you!"

Jack tries to think of a reply, but words simply wont leave his mouth. Lucky for him, a Yuni commander enters the room and speaks up.

Yuni Commander
"Alright, the goddess has the following orders!"

The Yuni clears his throat.

Yuni Commander
"Timid Shadow, you will be escorted by this Yuni Priestess here, she will show you a library full of Lunar scriptures. The young Buzzer, you follow me, the goddess wants to talk to you, in private."

Velvet stops writing and closes her book, slowly standing up.

Jack Chitin
"Hey Velvet, I'll be done soon, I'll meet up wit..."

Velvet doesn't even look at him, she just follows the female priestess down the hallway. He thinks to himself.

Jack Chitin
[What's up with her... ]

Jack stands up and starts following the Yuni commander. After a few moments of walking, Jack speaks up.

Jack Chitin
"Is there any procedure before meeting the goddess, should I be aware of some special etiquette?"

Yuni Commander
"Just relax, the goddess will guide you through the conversation. You are really lucky to meet her, not many get that chance."

"Hey, do you know about Lua's champion? What is her job here?"

Yuni Commander
"The champion is the right hand of the goddess. She mostly spends time researching at the nearby Lunar Shrines. She's a very talented priestess."

The commander goes quiet again. Jack tries to pry for more info.

Jack Chitin
"How much does she tell her subordinates about her ideas and plans?"

The commander stops and lets out a sigh.

Yuni Commander
"Look, I have a lot of work today. The goddess will answer all your inquiries."

The Yuni points to the nearby door.

Yuni Commander
"Enter. It is dark inside, don't be afraid, the goddess will be with you in a moment."

With those words the Yuni leaves the scene. Jack slowly enters and closes the door. Nothing but pitch black darkness. Jack gets a bit anxious, however, the torches light up and he gazes upon a huge stone gateway. The humongous stone walls slowly start to scrape the floor as the gateway opens. A huge figure rests on the doorway.

Lua
"Well, well, would you look who it is~ We finally meet, young insect~", she said with a satisfied purr

As Jack gazes at the humongous goddess, he takes an audible gulp. A strange feeling of dread and tranquillity envelops his heart. However, he reminds himself of his new path. Jack takes in a deep breath and crack a confident smile. Lua notices it and chuckles.

Lua
"Let me slip into something more comfortable, something that you might find fitting~"

Suddenly the goddess explodes in a cloud of Lunar dust. As Jack waves his arm trying to clear the cloud, a figure around his own size emerges.

Lua
"It seems that this is more suitable, wouldn't you agree?~", she said while resting her hands on her thick hips

Jack gazes upon her beautiful body, speechless. He tries to concentrate and utter some words, however the Lunar vixen beats him to it.

Lua
"You can stop acting now, I know that you're bluffing~", she said with a smug smile

Jack pupils dilate in shock.

Jack Chitin
"Hah! You couldn't be more wrong, this is who I..."

The goddess moves next to Jack and wraps all four hands around him, gently caressing various body parts.

Lua
"You are who you are, and you are a weak and pathetic little insect, a slave to your own emotions~"

Jack clenches his teeth, about to give her a piece of his mind. However again, the goddess interjects.

Lua
"But that's why I love you~", she said while licking Jack's cheek, letting out a calm purr

Jack relaxes, trying to figure out what's the deal with the crazy cat.

Jack blushes and looks to the ground with a coy smile.

He turns his head to the side, gazing into her dark eyes. He slowly goes for the kiss, his lips quivering a bit. Suddenly something stops him.

"Hey, who's falling in love with who here?~", she said with a cute laugh

Jack notices that she's grabbed his cheeks and covered his mouth, stopping his plan. However, he didn't blink, the hand suddenly appeared there. And how it appeared, suddenly it disappeared.

"Go on~"

Jack closes his eyes and gives her a kiss. He notices that her lips are really cold.

Lua
"Why are you kissing a statue of me?~"

Jack hastily opens his eyes and notices that instead of Lua, there suddenly appears to be a stone statue of Lua in front of him, striking a sexy pose. Jack quickly turns around and notices Lua behind him, chuckling in a cute and smug tone.

Jack Chitin
"What... how... where... wha..."

Lua
"I know what you did with Yuna~ She really liked it~ This pleases me greatly, since that indicates that my suspicions are correct."

Jack's head turns bright red like a tomato. He shakes his head and tries to focus.

Jack Chitin
"Alright you crazy cat thing, enough games! Why..."

She interjects.

Lua
"...do I want you? Truth be told, Yuna was the one that found you. She's been monitoring your progress and actions ever since you met Luna. We can look through the eyes of every single Lunar worshipper. If it wasn't for her vouching for you, I would probably spend a lot more time searching for people like you. She seems to like you a lot~"

Lua
"Gifted, special, unique... many names, same thing. You are an amplifier of primordial frequencies."

Jack looks at Lua with a confused expression.

"Or what you humans call, emotions."

Jack Chitin
"Emotions? But everybody has them, what makes me special?"

Lua
"Isolation. You see, all living things poses these primordial frequencies in one way or another. And when they are near each other, they intertwine and mix, making them weak and susceptible to infection. Spending a lot of time alone... you became pure."

Jack closes his eyes and grab his head, trying to process what she just said.

Lua slowly walks towards Jack and with a snap of her fingers removes his clothes. She embraces him with a hug, licking his cheek with a cute purr.

"Affection..."

She takes his hand and slices it a bit with her sharp claws.

She raises her hand, suddenly the ceiling of the sacred hall turns into a starry sky. Jack looks up in shock.

Lua
"...awe... all powerful frequencies. You possess a really powerful one, the thing that you yearned all those years in the forest. Affection and love. Unconditional love. Same as your childhood friend~"

Jack looks at her with a mix of sadness and tranquillity.

Jack Chitin
"Luna... but... you are evil..."

Lua
"They fear what they don't understand... the Pantocrator has infected everyone, signalling the end. In less than 24 hours, then end will begin."

Jack looks at her in shock.

Lua
"Tell me young insect, do you fear death? Do you even know what awaits after you depart?"

Jack Chitin
"At times in the forest... I wished death would claim me, but..."

Lua chuckles.

Lua
"If you really knew what lies beyond, you would cherish this life more than anything. I survived the Pantocrator's cycles, avoiding the purge, emerging victorious every time. Now tell me Jack, wouldn't you like to survive as well, and spend time with your childhood friend?"

Jack Chitin
"But that means... all these infected people... wait... what does that even mean?"

Lua
"Madness. Cut-throats, murderers, rapists, bandits. Normal souls that are succumbing to the infection. Have you ever asked yourself? Why do you hurt people, even though you are pure? Xeriana, Umbra... they are infected. And once you try to get intimate, the purity within yourself tries to protect your frequency from mixing."

Jack Chitin
"Does that mean that... that finally... that I'll..."

Lua
"...be happy with Luna? Yes. And that strong bond between two purities is what I need to win and save my followers."

Jack starts to tear up, showing a small smile.

Jack Chitin
"Can... I see her?"

Lua
"So I guess that means you would like to join us, no?", she said with a warm smile

"Luna...", he said with tears of joy gliding down his face

"Let's go find her then~"

She signals Jack to follow her. After some walking they arrive in front of a room, chatter emanating from the behind the door.

"Here we are, I hope that you are ready~"

They simply don't like the path the main character is headed down and because of this, are making every terrible decision possible. Please notice that everyone up until two-three threads ago has been going for a monogamous relationship with one of the characters. Now all the sudden it's become a blue board easy mode "/aco/'s Bang Quest."
Take a break Bug-Chan if you need to, your a good writer and quest maker but your running into issues that can be fixed with a bit of looking at things critically.

Anons, I'm going to explain my perspective here. You voted for fucking the guardswoman, and now are complaining of railroading. You wanted to fuck the cat goddess, which I proceeded to vote for due to me thinking anons wanted it, then you complained about railroading.

You're now saying that the idea of 'purity' is railroading. Having a bit of storytelling like this is not railroading. Keep in mind, we could have stayed with Velvet, Xeri, Umbra, any of them, but Grub is merely giving an IC reason for anons sperging out and trying to fuck all the women. That's not railroading in the slightest.

Alright, seeing that there is handful of topics that have been opened, I will take some time to write up meaningful and hopefully coherent responses to everybody's questions. Like always, I like to talk to people and I'll try to see how I can improve my service so that everybody has a more enjoyable time.

I would just like to say that, whatever I say in the following posts, don't take it as something personally, I would like to share my opinions as well which might sound a bit brash, but hopefully people will understand what I'm talking about.

I want to come clean on how I run stuff, since I guess it isn't that obvious to most people, so that we ALL are on the same page on how things work in the quest. I think I was rather clear in the tutorial in the OP, but I'll try to give even more detial so we sort that out and have a fun time in the future.

So, expect the first few replies shortly. Once again, I just want to make sure that all of my statements are in the best intention, and maybe some stuff might come of as harsh/brash/asshole-ish, but I will further elaborate if need be to resolve any misunderstanding.

I sort of agree, sort of don't. At this point Jack has been lied to, betrayed, has betrayed others even. Point is, he's now setting out on his own path, one without waifus or god shittery, one where he's independent.

The purity thing isn't railroading, we can still love and go with whoever we want. I know I don't want Luna personally, but I'm sure at least Prude Anon does.

And last but not least, Grub is not saying Luna is pure in a typical manner. If you read the posts, you would know the 'purity' is a purity of emotions, not of heart or mind or body.

Alright, let's make things clear on the railroading. You can't a complex/serious plot and 100% player input/creativity. If you ever get the chance to be a QM, you will understand what I'm talking about. I though this was obvious, but seeing that lots of people are confused and yelling "RAILROADING!!!", I want to elaborate:

When a player adds input, that doesn't mean I will accept the answer fully. Sometimes to make things work in the grand scheme of things, I need to filter some stuff that I personally as the QM think won't fit in the story. That's just how I run the quest.

Again, that doesn't mean that I think "This action is bullshit, fuck you", no, far from it. If someone gives an action, I try to figure out and remember the reason why they do it. Someone is vouching for X character? Then I will try to give them more screen time. Someone wants to go to X location. I will try my best that we do that.

Imagine it as an child/parent hierarchy. I don't turn down your ideas because I look down upon you, I turn then down, because I think that as the storyteller, something else might be better in the global plan of things.

Also, the following that I'm about to say is a little bonus from me, a bit of my own thoughts. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to brag, but I just want for you guys to try to understand me from a QM perspective.

Drawing a scene, writing a scene, thinking about the implication, making most of the people happy, and living your own life (going to the toilet, eating) in 30 minutes, is one heck of a challenge.

So next time, if Grub does something that weird or seems like a mistake, just remember that's he's human as well, and cut him some slack. I try to run this quest to the best of my ability. And for someone that:

He tried to act tougher, but Lua saw through his charade. Telling him that he is who he is. And even though he harbours anger and hate for his condition, he can't bring himself to truly hate someone. That's the constant struggle. I'm a very new QM that has a few months of experience. Truth be told, I'm still figuring out what my style of storytelling is. Which is noticeable, seeing the recent hiccup in miscommunication between me and the players in general.

The thing is that this quest started out as a very open quest and I really did allow for a lot of stuff to happen and various player input, but as the story started to get more and more complex, I just feel that if I want to continue doing the story I need to readjust some things about actions, maybe another way or format of player input.

So that the people don't get me wrong, I appreciate the players and like I said many times, I wouldn't never do something that would disrespect or insult them, at least not deliberately, I can always make mistakes, I'm human after all.

Because here is another issue: The sessions are getting increasingly more stressful for me, rushing against the clock to push out updates/scenes in under 40 minutes. I try my best, but sometimes it takes over an hour. I don't know how the players feel about a change? Should I invest more time into the scenes or make the ASAP?

There are some of the things that I'm thinking about right now.

Also, we continue tomorrow, since I have a busy day today!

Also, I'll drop by some of my thoughts about the current state of the quest and stuff in a little while!

I mean the plan for this quest was something that you follow "in the background". Maybe something that you would check on every hour or so, rather than sticking around during the whole session.

That would work for me, also set choices may sound off putting to some, but I'm sure it will make it a lot easier to implement input especially since you won't have to deal with excessive actions or actions unbefitting of a character. I do kinda like the idea of the sessions being spread out, especially because the last thing I would want is for you to have to rush scenes.

Even if I didn't like this new idea, you are the QM, so your feelings on it should weigh a little more than mine. Considering that this is your time and effort being invested here, so whatever makes it less stressful/work better with your schedule really.

Well, the main thing is that even a few weeks back, I was starting to enjoy myself less and less, and things got more and more stressful for me regarding the quest. It was just too much thinking and calculating. It didn't feel like a fun hobby, it felt more of a job/work than anything else and I didn't enjoy doing it anymore. So I'll change things up a bit and we'll see how it goes!

Have 2 to 4 options per scene (A B C D), and remove write-ins. Instead, if the players want to add their own ideas, they can add them to make the (A B C D) options more detailed which reflects in the dialogue, but the ideas need to be within the context of those options.

If there is a choice "Talk about Solaris". Picking it will make the characters talk about Solaris in general. If the player picked that option and added "Why are most of Soalris' followers located in the desert?", that's a good example of extending and moving the dialogue in a certain direction, within the context of the given choice, which is talking about Solaris.

During the quest, there will be moments of less and more player freedom, sometimes I myself don't know where to go, so the player can choose a sharp turn/direction where we continue. The choices also work as small surveys, if I see people voting for a topic a lot, I will invest more effort into exploring that topic in the future.

It's also easier for lurkers and players that aren't on a desktop device, you can simply vote by replying with (A B C D). For those that want get more involved in the dialogue/lore you can extend the given options.

Also, if I took it more chill and stress free, I don't think I'll need breaks. I can update with a couple of scenes every day.


In conclusion

I'm trying to find a middle ground. A place where both the players and the QM will be content. I'm doing this quest for people that like this certain way of storytelling, in my own style. If I'm selling meat, it wouldn't make much sense to cater to vegans, right?

I know that some people won't like these changes, but like I said, the quest isn't made for every audience in mind. At the end of the day, I'm doing this because it's fun, because I love doing this. If I'm doing it in a way that makes me miserable and feels like work rather than enjoyment, then what's the point, right?

After the intense session with the sly goddess, they both pick themselves from the ground. Filled with ecstasy and intoxicated by the fury vixen, Jack punches the nearby wall and exclaims.

Lua lets out a satisfied chuckle, trying to fix her appearance from the rough session.

Jack slowly starts walking away, however, Lua catches his attention.

"Friend, you mean. You are my love~ I'll talk to her later.", he said with a confident smile

Lua lets out a satisfied purr while rubbing her lips in a seductive way.

Jack thinks about talking about Luna, but seeing that the goddess is yawning a lot, he decides not to agitate her. However, he saves the topic for someone else. Jack gets on his way, and after a few moments of walking arrives at the prison cells. He tells the Lunar guards to give him a moment, alone. After they closed the door, Jack walks down the hallway filled with various sized cells. Soon after, he arrives at the one containing the Timid Shadow.

"Jack!", she said in distress

Jack Chitin
"Hello, Velvet. You probably know why I am here!", he yells

"Oh no... t-they, she... she's a-already gotten to y-you... Jack, s-snap out of it! They a-are controlling you, t-this isn't who you are!"

Jack takes the Lunar sword from the nearby weapons rack and slowly opens the door. Velvet starts to scream.

"Jack p-please! Don't d-do this! I l-l-love you Jack! P-PLEASE!", she said while sobbing

Jack swings the heavy Lunar sword. Velvet covers her face and closes her eyes.

A few seconds pass, and Velvet notices that she's still alive. As she slowly opens her eyes. She notices that Jack has struck the wooden bed. Jack embraces her with a hug.

"J-Jack.... wh-wha..."

"Ssh-shh-shh. The guards think that I killed you. I'm glad to see you, Velvet. I understand everything now. You were right about everything.", he whispers with a lump in his throat, as he slowly grips Velvet tight

Velvet places her arms around Jack's neck, slowly hugging him and letting out a sigh in relief.

"You can't change, you are who you are, no matter how much you try. I am a cowardly animal, manipulated by everyone. The good news is that I learned a lot. I've been thinking about it wrong the whole time. Instead of searching for a strength within me... my weakness is my greatest weapon."

Velvet blushes and looks at Jack in confusion.

If I recall correctly, the lower levels contain the research labs, which are reserved for the most talented priests and priestesses. The researchers usually require peace, so the tunnels and labs are free from soldiers. They have various escape tunnels in case the catacombs get attacked. We could sneak out of them without much trouble... hopefully."

Velvet ponders on the idea and looks at Jack, which in turn nods at her.

Jack Chitin
"Sounds like a plan."

As they slowly start to walk down the stairs, the elder speaks up again.

Jack looks at him with a frown.

"Hey! That's no way to talk t..."

As Jack catches up to Velvet from behind, trying to grab the Yuni, she raises her hand like she's about to slap Jack.

Jack recoils back. Velvet suddenly stops and freezes in her place. Jack's heart start to beat like it's going to explode, his forehead trickling with sweat. He slowly reaches to grab Velvet's shoulder.

"V-Velvet... p-please tell me... i-it's y-you..."

As Jack tries to turn her around, a portion of her head violently cracks open with corrupted flesh emerging out of her brain. Velvet turns around, showing Luna's disfigured face. Jack tries to speak up, but can't utter a word, nor take a breath. As he slowly starts to choke, frozen in place, the corrupted being starts creeping up towards him.

The flesh suddenly spikes forward and pierces Jack's chest.

"Jack, are you alright?"

Jack opens his eyes, greeted by Velvet's worried face. The Yuni Elder, still resting on her head, with an intrigued look on his face. Jack takes a deep and shivering breath, slowly looking around the room and letting out an audible gulp.

The crew continues to descent deeper into the catacombs. After a while, they reach the Lunar research labs. The Yuni scouts ahead, using his inherited feral agility. Soon he rejoins the crew to fill them in on the situation.

"There seems to be nobody around, the crystals are deactivated. They've halted research for a few days. I've noticed some locations that we might consider. Firstly, there are the specimen labs where they work on biological research. Second, there is a small library with some tomes and equipment. And lastly, further down the hallway, the stone walls fade. Crystal and uncut rock indicate that those might lead towards the enriched crystal mines. All three locations surely lead to an escape tunnel. The question is, which path do we take?"

Dunno if you read the discussion about player input and stuff a few posts back, but I've decided to change things up a bit. Instead of write-ins, now you choose one of the choices and, if you want, you can give your own extension to it.

Something like you did, you chose action B and then you explained what we might do while we are at the library/storage. If you and other players just chose the action without the extension, I will think of something for the players.

The Yuni Elder slowly returns from his little recon mission. He breaks the nearby chair with his leg and uses a piece of the wood as a walking stick.

Jack clenches his teeth at the thoughts of Gat and what he could have done.

Jack Chitin
"We'll talk later, the fuse is lit, we need to get out of there!", he said with a groan

As Velvet picks up her books in a rush, she drops one by accident. The Yuni Elder helps her pick it up. Jack clenches his fist and turns towards the Yuni.

Jack Chitin
"What the hell... do you think you are doing?!"

“She obviously needs help with "scrubbing” her back.“

Jack's skin slowly starts to rip apart, blood gushing from it, slowly foaming form his mouth.

Jack Chitin
"So you want to have your way with her, huh?! I WILL MUTILATE YOU, GAT!"

As Jack yells, corrupted flesh bursts out of the Yuni's mouth, speaking in an incomprehensible language. The room fills with an eerie hum. Various bone like structures start to rip from Jack's back, his body rapidly deforming.

In the heat of the moment, they forgot that the crystals are heated to the point of detonation. Only a few seconds separates them from a certain death.

Jack Chitin
"You will pay Gat! You will pay for everything you abomination!"

As Jack is about to lunge at the Yuni, Velvet runs towards him and embraces him for a hug. As Jack blinks, he notices that he's pointing his hunting knife at the Yuni and embracing Velvet with the other arm.

Velvet
"Please J-Jack... I l-love you..."

As the Lunar crystals explode, a vortex of corrupted blood envelops the trio.

Somewhere near the Tectum Mountains a blood portal opens. The crew pops out and fall into the soft and muddy marsh. The portal closes soon after. A few seconds pass and as the adrenaline wears off, Velvet speaks up.

Velvet
"Is e-everybody in o-one piece?"

Jack Chitin
"I h-hope so..."

"Oh my aching back..."

Jack stands up and cleans the mud off of himself. he inspects his body for the bone structures and corrupted flesh, but everything seems to be gone. Jack helps Velvet up and embraces her.

Jack Chitin
"I don't know... what happened to me back there, it seemed so real... I'm s-sorry, Velvet..."

Velvet
"It's alright, J-Jack... it's n-not your fault."

Jack Chitin
"Maybe not, but I don't want for you to get hurt because of me, because... of that. Velvet, we need to start training our abilities. Maybe... maybe that power is trying to take over since we aren't taking full control over it."

The Yuni climbs the nearby tree and scans the nearby area for some landmarks. After a few moments, he climbs down and informs the crew.

"We were near the Feralia Forest, but now it seems that we are somewhere North-West of the Tectum Mountains. North of our location are some mountains, beyond that is the Inberian Desert if I recall correctly. To the West we have the province of Urno."

Jack Chitin
"Huh, I guess we safe for now. I think we should make camp here. I could really use some rest. Also, about just now... I, uhhh..."

"Don't worry about it.", he said in a serious tone

Velvet
"Are you g-guys sure t-that w-we will be s-safe here?"

Jack starts looking for some lush vegetation to make a small hut, he instructs Velvet to look for some firewood. The Yuni starts foraging for food.

Jack Chitin
"Yeah, these parts are the marshlands North of the Ihtid Swamps. I've ventured here a few times in my youth, these parts don't have any nasty predators or hostile natives. It's mostly inhabited by small rodents and creatures like that."

After an hour of work and preparations, the small shelter is finished, the fire is lit and the food is cooking. Finally, a moment of respite for the tired crew. As Jack takes care of the food, Velvet speaks up.

Velvet
"Are you f-feeling b-better, Jack?"

Jack Chitin
"Huh? Oh... yeah, I'm fine now. Thanks for asking, Velvet.", he said with a tired smile

As Velvet tries to continue, she gets interpreted by the Yuni.

"That flesh... so it's true. Only a few hours remain then..."

Both Velvet and Jack shift their gaze towards the old Yuni.

"The Pantocrator, the mother and father of all in this world... has decided to cast the dice once again. Young Buzzer, you and your shadowy friend seem to be blessed by the Creator. Use it wisely."

Jack chuckles.

"It's a mystery to us as well, but I think I figured out how we can chain the power under our control..."

Both Velvet and the Yuni gaze at Jack with an intrigued look.

Jack Chitin
"A few weeks back, when I was bored, I took some of your books and read some notes... well, the ones in the human language at least. It tells of a connection between the Deities and this... Pantocrator as you say. This connection and the Deities themselves can be damaged by something the book refers to as Fragments.", he said while thinking out loud

Velvet
"Fragments? In the Deity l-language it's translated t-to..."

Jack interjects.

Jack Chitin
"Exactly. Artefacts. Something a fellow kinsman helped me figure out."

I've mentioned this once or twice, but basically, if you are under someone for years, the powers get cemented. Meaning that Gat has shadow powers and Jack has his bug powers since they spent a few years under the influence of it. Jack spent a very short time with Umbra, so they powers didn't cement that much

As Jack checks on the food, the hut suddenly lights up in a blue hue. The Yuni speaks up.

"Nothing to fear, just an old cat licking his wounds, haha.", he said with a raspy chuckle

The old Yuni summons a small Lunar crystal that secretes healing water on his wounds. A few moments later, all of his wounds disappear. Jack hands out the roasted squirrel meat to the crew. As they chow down, Gat's father speaks up.

Gatao
"I don't think we have been properly introduced. My name is Gatao, elder of the Ira tribe. From our previous conversations, I assume that the Buzzer is named Jack and the shadow lady, Velvet."

Jack and Velvet nod.

Gatao
"I hope my son hasn't caused you too much trouble.", he said in an apologetic tone

Jack lets out a sad sigh.

Jack Chitin
"It was... a complicated friendship. Gat is a very tricky character. I mean, as time passed I got to learn more about him, even now I learn about his past and his fiancé."

Velvet
"He joined the Shadow Dominion soon after his village was burned to the ground by the Solar Cult. He spend a good time with us, but... things got complicated, and he left. We don't know where he ran off to."

As Velvet takes a bite of the roasted meat, Gatao continues.

Gatao
"I tried to teach Gat about Lunar magic, for him to join the priesthood, but he didn't listen. He wanted to see the world, relying on his cunning rather than magic. He always had high ambitions after they attacked our village about 20 years ago. After that event... he ran away, and I've never seen him again.", the geezer said with a lump in his throat

Velvet
"Hey... I'm sure he misses you. You're his father after all.", she said in a warm tone, trying to cheer the Yuni up

Gatao
"I doubt it... he hated me for trying to cage his wild nature. He never respected peace and order, and with that, he never respected me. I... wanted for him to be a respectable member of the Ira tribe, but that suborn kitten never listened to anybody."

The elder finishes his meal, and throws the wooden stick into the camp fire.

Gatao
"Thank you for the meal, and once again thank you for helping me. I guess... there are still kind people in this word. If you don't mind, these old bones would like a cat nap.", he said with a raspy chuckle

As Gatao exits the small hut and walks to his own, Velvet pulls herself closer towards Jack. He in turn hugs her tight, resting near the fireplace. They both lie down on their back. Velvet hums a quiet lullaby as Jack pets her hair.

Jack lets out a long yawn.

"Well, I could really use some sleep right about no..."

Jack notices Velvet's fidgeting, like she wants to ask something, but is too embarrassed to do so. Jack lets out a quiet chuckle and speaks up.

Jack Chitin
"I know what you want to say, and of course, let's cuddle a bit."

Velvet
"I thought y-you'd never a-ask~", she said with a coy tone, smiling

Velvet sits up, and Jack throws himself into her lap, letting out a relived sigh. Velvet gently pets his head.

"I don't know how, but you are the softest pillow I've ever met.", he said in a comic tone

Velvet lets out a giggle. After a few moments of gentle caressing, Velvet speaks up.

"J-Jack... what will h-happen to us? I mean...", she said in a serious tone

Jack places his hands on her cheeks.

"Velvet, we have the heavy siege weapons! Something none of them have! We just need to figure our powers out, we will be unstoppable!"

Suddenly Velvet lets out a huge smile.

"Yes... y-yes! How s-stupid of me... all this time I h-have been worrying about a-armies, b-bases, f-followers... but we have something that w-will speed t-that up ten fold!"

Jack puts up a smug face, proud of his idea.

"J-Jack, you are a g-genius! I c-could..."

Velvet suddenly grabs Jack's head and kisses him. After a few moments, Velvet backs up, her face turning red like a tomato.

"Oh s-sorry, I g-got a b-bit c-c-carried awa..."

Jack gently kisses her back. After a few moments of affection, Jack speaks up.

"Never apologize for that...", he said with a warm smile

Velvet places her forehead on Jack's and they spend some time hugging, and enjoying the peaceful time with each other.

However, the w-writing system is pretty c-complex, like nothing I've s-seen before. It took m-me years to finally f-figure it out. I guess it n-needs to be in a w-way, the complexity is an e-encryption system o-on it's own.", she explains in a confident and proud manner

"Years, huh? How long did it take you to draw that?", he said with a smug smile, pointing at the page

"Huh?"

Velvet notices her silly drawings and lets out a nervous chuckle.

"H-how did that get t-there, haha!"

Velvet clears her throat, trying to change the topic.

"You told m-me that you've read s-something about the topic y-yourself? The h-human n-notes that you found, no?"

Jack Chitin
"Yes, the artefacts. It spoke of two things. One was a type of sacred gold, and the other refers to... I don't even know what these symbols mean, can you find a possible reference in your notes?"

After a few moments of looking through her notes, Velvet speaks up.

"Ah, h-here it is. It talks of u-using the Creator's b-blood and m-mixing it with the sacred a-anchor of his c-children... w-what does that e-even mean...", she looks at the notes in a confused way

Jack Chitin
"Wait... that means... we can do that right now!", he exclaims

Velvet gives him a both puzzled and confused look.

"We have all the ingredients! We just need draw some blood!"

"J-Jack, a-are you s-sure...", she said in a nervous tone

"Jack, wait! I don't k-know if this is you t-thinking straight, or i-is it one of t-those visions..."

"Oh... I'm sorry, I got a bit carried away, haha. In any case, I think I figured it out. Consider this, the blood of the Creator, I think that it flows through the veins of everyone that has the gift of purity, so we just need to draw some blood!"

Velvet
"But what a-about the other s-segment? The sacred a-anchor of his children... oh, I g-get it. The children t-the notes are referring to a-are the Deities. If that is true, t-then the anchor might b-be a symbolic meaning for the s-sacred gold the h-human notes mention. But J-Jack... we don't h-have that..."

Jack ruffles through his pocket and pulls out a prize.

Jack Chitin
"Ta-da!"

Velvet looks at him in confusion.

Velvet
"Golden e-earrings?"

Jack Chitin
"Not just any golden earrings! I snatched these off of Lua! While we were... uhhh... I mean, while she was charmed by my good looks, I took them while she wasn't looking, haha!"

Velvet
"This is g-great news! That means w-we have all the n-needed segments. But h-how do we proceed? The n-notes mention some r-ritual symbols and that the c-connection should be "searingly pure", whatever t-that means... but that's all I c-could find..."

Jack Chitin
"We can try the same thing when we summon our other abilities, we just need to interact with each other. Come on, let's try it at least."

Velvet nods and start drawing the symbols on the ground. Jack then places the two earrings on the symbols and cuts his and Velvet's arm with the hunting knife. After a few seconds, they spill some of their blood on the earrings. They stand near the ritual marking.

Velvet
"What now?"

Jack Chitin
"Let's add some magic~", he said in a comic tone

Velvet giggles as Jack slowly embraces her for a hug. After a few seconds, they look at the earrings, but nothing seems to happen.

Jack Chitin
"Hmmm...", he said while looking at the earrings

Velvet blushes a bit.

Velvet
"Maybe we need to add a more warmer magic~", she said in a coy tone

Jack lets out a chuckle, shaking his head. He grabs her hands and looks at the blushing shadow.

"What now?~", he said in a warm and quiet tone

Jack kisses Velvet. They both think about each other and the love that warms their heart. Jack gazes upon the earrings.

Jack Chitin
"Agh, damn it!"

He starts pacing around.

Velvet
"Maybe, the connections n-needs to be pure, like t-the book says? But I don't know what that means..."

Jack Chitin
"What's more pure than love?!", he said in frustration, the sleep deprivation slowly catching up to him

Velvet quickly takes out her book and browses through the notes.

Velvet
"There has t-to be a clue... there j-just has t-to be...", she said with a lump in her throat

Jack Chitin
"Damn it! Why won't this work?! Surely the interpretation is right... I mean, an anchor?! Surely the author jests if he though about a literal anchor... what Deity has a fucking anchor?! I MEAN WHAT IN THE BLOODY...", he yells

Jack suddenly freezes and notices something that breaks his heart. A few steps away from him, Velvet sits on the nearby rock, grabbing her face, quietly crying. Jacky rushes towards her and grabs her shoulders.

Jack Chitin
"Hey... w-what's wrong?", he asks in a worried tone

Velvet
"Get away from me!", she yells at him, shifting her body to the side, not facing Jack

Jack grabs her shoulders again, trying to get her attention, but she starts resisting.

Jack Chitin
"Velvet, y-you're scaring me, what's wrong?!"

She tries pushing him away, however, Jack grabs her hand and tries to reason with her.

Jack Chitin
"STOP! Velvet... what's wrong... please tell me, I don't want to lose you, I made so many mistakes already...", he said with a lump in his throat, tears building up in his eyes

Velvet
"IT WON'T W-WORK BECAUSE OF M-ME! Because... you have a p-pure heart, you have p-pure intention... I killed my o-own sister... I did so many b-bad things in my l-life, I hurt so many p-people... I'm a monster! I'm u-ugly on t-the inside and o-on the outside...", she said while crying in a painful tone

Jack Chitin
"Velvet... look at me..."

Jack tries to touch her face, however she resists.

Jack Chitin
"Velvet... LOOK AT..."

"DON'T DO IT, JACK!", she screams

"LOOK AT ME!"

Jack yells as he brushes her hair to the side, revealing her pitch dark shadow eyes.

Jack Chitin
"Velvet... I... if it doesn't work, it's because of me... I hurt so many people, I pushed away my own friends, I broke my promises... I am a monster, both on the inside and out. Velvet... I am done making mistakes, I am done searching... you are my light in the darkness... my sweet, sweet Velvet..."

Jack places his hand on her cheek and wipes away the tears with his thumb, while letting his own flow. He gently kisses the timid shadow as she wraps her arms around his neck. During this time, a red mist erupts from the ritual space, engulfing the scene. The Pantocrator's symbol appears on their foreheads.

Suddenly strange and outworldish noises start to radiate within the scene. Sounds of laughter, painful crying, various instruments can be heard playing a tune, however it is all out of sync, none of the tunes form a coherent melody, rather a rhapsody of chaos and madness. Slowly a low reverberating hum starts to echo through the scene.

Both Velvet and Jack start groaning in pain as they vomit blood. They look at each other, then both start to laugh in a maniacal and demented way. Jack starts gouging his demon eyes out as he screams in excruciating pain.

Jack Chitin
"I AM TAINTED! WE NEED TO PURIFY OURSELVES FROM OUR SINS, AND WALK THIS EARTH PURE FROM THE SHACKLES OF THE PAST!"

Jack takes the hunting knife and starts chipping the demon teeth. He gores the tendril, ripping it out along with his own guts. In the meantime, Velvet takes one of her throwing diamonds and start ripping the hair that was covering her eyes, then proceeds to stab herself in the chest numerous times. Corrupted flesh starts to emerge from the stab wounds.

Velvet
"YES, OH YES, PURGE THE IMPURITY, PURGE THE STONES ON OUR SHOULDER, SO THAT WE CAN WALK THE EARTH, SHINING BRIGHT LIKE THE STARS IN THE NIGHT SKY!"

Jack's demon flesh rots away, his skull cracks and his body starts to deform. Various bone structures erupt from his skull as corrupted flesh rips out of his torso.

Jack reaches out towards Velvet and start to laugh.

Jack Chitin
"OH SWEETHEART, LET'S WALK THIS EARTH TOGETHER!"

Velvet
"YES MY LOVE, EMBRACE ME!"


As they look into each other's eyes, they slowly kiss.

The votes will indicate what kind of new weapons and abilities they get tomorrow in the opening scene of the session! They both will finally let go of the past and emerge anew!

Taking a break today to do some stuff regarding the quest. Hopefully I'll figure it out by tomorrow, I won't make any promises, but I'm pretty sure we will continue on the 4th.

A bit spoiler-ish, if you are interested on what it's about:
Jack and Velvet will each have a new design/look, new abilities, weapons etc, so need a bit more time to work on it.

Work and stuff is killing me. Some days I sadly don't have much free time due to the nature of my job, but I try to find a break from it every now and then.


I try my best to balance my free time, but sometimes work gets in the way. I'm aware that the longer the hiatus are, that people might start to lose interest, but sadly these work heavy days don't provide enough free time to properly run the quest. Once again to all the people that like and follow the quest, I know that it sucks to wait but thank you for your patience!

Tomorrow things will slowly normalize. Seeing that the thread will 404 soon, tomorrow I'll post the next session time here:
