The year is 2X16. Humanity reached out to the stars, but the stars did not reach back. Alien civilisations were discovered, but the speed of light is a cruel mistress, and hopes of stellar travel, hopping from planet to planet, were dashed. Humanity turned its attentions inward, making do with what resources the Earth had to offer.

The sciences advanced, but two in particular are important to our story. First, massive solar arrays were built. Three enormous pillars reached up into the sky... and beyond. The earth now sports it's very own ring; tiny in comparison to the blue orb it encompassed, but still more than sufficient to provide adequate renewable energy to the people below. Secondly, advances to genetics and bioengineering allowed people to modify themselves and their children. Similarly, people chose candidate animals to 'uplift', bringing them to the same levels of intelligence as the humans, and granting them the same rights.

Yet as much as the world changes, still it stays the same. The world is not free of conflict. Millions, billions still live in poverty. Critical nations still hold most of the power. At the base of each of the solar farm's pillars a world power stands: Central America, Africa and South East Asia are the centres of technology and innovation. But far from the belt the infrastructure does not reach, and the northern and southern countries still suffer the same energy problems of old. Those with alternative energy sources must use them to compete, whatever the damage to environment, population health or nuclear weapon count, that is incurred.

'Racial' tensions are the current political focus. Gone are the days when one's mere skin colour or heritage were the deciding factors. Now squabbles happen between fur and feathers, humans and uplifts, modified and pure. The lines are drawn and re-drawn, and global society is in a state of flux, a tipping point is near, though none can say for sure which way the pendulum of fate will fall.

Pure, unmodified humans are rare, but still some extremists will risk genetic disease to stay true to their ideals or beliefs.

And one of these extremists has a plan.

You are hungry.

You don't know how long you've been hungry, but you've been hungry for as long as you have been.

You writhe around, exploring the space you are in. It's smaller than you are long, and slightly pliable. But it's hard to tell what it is, since you lack most senses and, in fact, any experiences at all. It's all you've ever known, but you know it's not enough.

Then suddenly, like a dawn breaking from behind mountains, something appears above you. It looms, shining brightly above you. It is DELICIOUS.

>resist
>hahaha, don't be silly anon. You haven't evolved the ability to resist yet. It might be useful later, though.

You leap, uncoiling and latching your teeth onto the wad of delicious before you. Something moist wets your body, and several moist and chunky things disappear down through the ring of teeth that is your front end. Pure, unadulterated bliss washes through you as the most delicious thing you can possibly imagine is devourered. Bite by bite, you work your way along the Delicious Thing's form, gorging yourself.

Your body ripples, and just back from the ring of teeth that is your mouth a pair of small, beedy eyes form. Your flesh splits, and ichor drips out of the new folds. The world begins to swim into view.

>Deliciousness consumed.
>New Biomorph: Eyes (greyscale)

You are lying in a room. You are lying in a puddle in a room. The puddle is dark, and seems to be expanding slowly. Much to your disappointment, there appears to be no more deliciousness remaining anywhere near you. You are hungry.

You look at yourself. You are a dark, slick thing, about as thick as whatever you latched onto, and about half as long as the thing you ate. It' a good thing you're not worried about conservation of mass, because a physicist would be wondering where all the rest of the stuff you ate went, even discounting the mess you made while you were eating it. Bright teeth form a ring at one end of you, and you know a truth more true than anything that has ever been: This is where the deliciousness must go.

In a search for more deliciousness, you take another look around you. Flat surfaces line one of the walls, filled with thin, pale things about the size of your mouth, but square. They are not delicious. Behind you, there is a bench of some sort, almost as high as you are long. You can see a torn cube atop the bench, made of a similar substance to the thin pale things, although this is much thicker and a bit darker. That was your cage, your prison, your birthplace. You don't want to go back there. Shiny towers line the other walls, with several pannels and horizontal bars sticking out from them. They don't look delicious, but they do look dark inside.

There are two holes in the walls, leading in opposite directions. Through a strange sense you can tell that one of them has many Delicious Things through it, and the other has only one. They all seem equally Delicious.

You are hungry.

Ambush!

Welcome to Bioweapon Quest!

Here we will be eating things!

For every delicious thing you eat, you will gain one Biomorph from a choice of (usually) three. These can be things like limbs, claws, feathers, a heart, a beak, a jaw, etc! Some biomorphs are contingent on other ones: for example, you can't gain feet until you have legs.

Biomorphs can be Expressed or Repressed. Expressed means that you have them out and active, and Repressed means you've 'learned' them for later, but they aren't currently on your... person? Body. Let's go with body.

Biomorphs will generally give you either a new ability (like the ability to jump) or a +1 to rolls to do a specific thing.

You begin the game with very little; naught but a cord-like body with a ring of teeth at one end.

We roll d12's here, but you might graduate to d20's later, we'll see. This is because d12s are objectively the best dice. High is good. Getting a 12 means a crit success, and a 1 is a crit failure. Ideas which I deem to be 'good' or 'interesting' or 'cool' or otherwise great will get a +1, added later on my end. This means that a good idea cannot critically fail, and has a greater chance of critically succeeding. This is independant of the regular bonuses your biomorphs get you, and is basically a reward for good roleplay (inasfar as a creature like yourselves can be roleplayed).

Write-ins are encouraged, and even preferred! If you have particular biomorphs that you want to get, mentioning them might make them more likely to come up.

You have critical three hit-points. These represent the last of your life. Don't lose all three!
Some biomorphs (like skin and fat stores) will grant new hit points. These work like armor and take damage first.
Some biomorphs (like legs) will have their own hit points, which represent that particular biomorph getting damaged and becoming unusable.
You regain hitpoints when you Feast upon Delicious Things. Gaining things like a stomach will allow you to regain hitpoints through consuming non-delicious things.

>Oh my goodness it's been FOREVER since I quested! Please forgive any delays and such while I run around like a headless chicken trying to remember how to do things.

Bathroom
>>
You slither through the door, heading towards the single delicious thing. Perhaps you'll got back for the other delicious things later.

This new room is small, cramped. While tiles line the floor, and a bright beam flickers on the roof, casting shadows below things. A white basin rests halfway up one wall, and behind it lies a window to another, similar room, with its own beam, flickering in time with yours. The Delicious thing is behind another wall that doesn't go fully from roof to floor, but has gaps at the top and bottom. Underneath the stall door you can see a pair of beautiful, delicious talons, connected to some beautifully delicious feet. You rear up, ready to dive in and bite them when they begin to move, and you pause.

There is another, steady source of light behind the door that causes the porcelain throne and the Delicious thing atop it to shade the door, although some light sneaks in around that.

You turn quickly, stretching your length until you can juuust make it to the basin, and slide up into it. From there you stretch out once more, reaching towards the top of the stall. Out of the corner of your eye you see another creature, just like you, in the other room, climbing its own way to its own meal. Maybe there are more like you! However it's foolish, as clearly the Delicious thing is on your side, not its. It doesn't seem delicious either, but your delicious-sense is disagreeing with what your new vision-sense is telling you here. It gives you a (head)ache, so you ignore it, and finish your climb.

You get your first glimpse at precicely what these Delicious Things look like. They are tall, standing on two of their four limbs. On top it has one bulbous head with two eyes and its own mouth. You remember that bit being more crunchy. This one seems to have a tough, pointed thing covering its mouth. The previous one didn't have that, nor did it have the tufts of stuff on it's head. The previous one had long, wavy stuff instead. Another difference is the legs of this one: They are thick on the top half, and scrawny on the bottom, but end with thick, padded feet with large claws. It also seems to have tied its legs up with something that loops around both of them. How nice of it. The same material covers it's upper body, hiding most of that from you, but you're fairly confident you could tear through that without issue.

And so you do, leaping down teeth-first, letting your weight drive the teeth right through and into the succulent flesh below. As thick, dark fluid leaks out of the Delicious creature it begins to flail about, battering at you with its arms, then trying to grab you, then slamming you against the wall. As you dig deeper and deeper, consuming more and more of its flesh, its struggles grow weaker, and just as you feel its deliciousness pass into you it ceases moving entirely. By then the primal desires have taken control of you fully, and you gorge yourself until nothing but dark much, chunky salsa and ruined feathers remain.

>Deliciousness devoured!

>Choose one:
>Legs - Limbs seem useful. You could do all sorts of things with these! (new options available. You know, all the wonderful things that limbs let you do, like high speed locomotion, and being able to not lie on the ground.)

>and yes, it's been years since I ran anything hasn't it? Gosh.
>>
Your body writhes and churns. New structures form just below the surface, and then your outer layers begin to split as your limbs emerge. Once more you begin to leak ichor, pale, translucent fluid dribbling down to mix with the dark and sticky mess beneath you. You stretch and twist your new limbs, four in total, and raise yourself up off the floor. With these you feel significantly faster and more mobile!

It takes you a few moments of stumbling about to get the hang of it, but after a few loops around the stall you feel comfortable enough walking to continue. Looking over yourself you examine your legs in detail. They are pretty short, raising you only a foot or so off the ground, and end with bony spurs instead of feet. They're solid enough to walk or run on, but you would have trouble swimming or climbing, and probably don't make very good weapons.

>You have devoured your first creature! You have reached a Milestone! You are granted one boon!
>Choose one:
>[] Hunter - Gain one free hit point that isn't associated with any biomorph.
>[] Ambusher - Increase the range of your Deliciousness Sense beyond one room or so, so that you can tell if anything you sense with your other senses is delicious or not.
>[] Infiltrator - Gain the ability to resist eating your prey immediately. You still won't want to leave it for very long at all.

You look around and examine the stall, trying to plan your next move. There is a spinning thing in the roof that looks like it might lead somewhere, if you can get through. The light from the window lights it up and you can definitely see a passage behind it. Or you could go back the way you came. Or maybe smash through the window?

>Ambusher - You can now tell if things are delicious by just looking at them. This will extend to new senses as you gain them. someone will probably have to remind me about that at some point

You turn and prance back the way you came, moving a few steps at a time before pausing and getting your bearings again. It takes some time to get used to being able to move this quickly! While you might not realise it for a while, you gain mannerisms based on what you eat, and the songbird-splice you ate gives you a rather skittish gait.

You circle around the mail room once more, just checking things out before moving on. The mess on the floor seems more sticky, but you legs end in points small enough that it doesn't hold you back. It does make things a bit slippery when you put too much weight on it, though, and you make a mental note to be careful.

You investigate the metal cabinets as you go past. They seem quite sturdy, and your legs don't do much to them when you hit them. Your teeth have a bit more effect, digging scores on their surface, but not puncturing through. You also manage to pull one open by sticking a limb in it and pulling. It's just full of more of those white, flimsy squares, though. Not delicious at all.

You are hungry. And you're getting hungrier. You didn't think that was possible, but it seems to be the case. Then again, you've only ever really known the all-consuming hunger you currently feel, so what's the difference?

Out of the corner of your eye you spy a shadow, and your new sense demands you look at it. And sure enough, under the crack beneath the door you can see a shadow of something you know to be Delicious. Your body writhes in anticipation.

>3 - Not so good...

You coil yourself up and sit down on the floor. It's a bit more tricky than it was before, due to your new legs, but you manage it.

The door before you swings open, pushed by a two-toned creature beyond. It's a bit different from the ones before, with a gait that has it propped up on its toes, and a differently shaped head with a snout. It seems a bit more animalistic, with a full body-covering of fur and having eschewed clothing. You intrinsically know that it is Furshit and you hate it. You don't really know what furshit is, but you're pretty sure this is a good example. More importantly, however, you know that it is Delicious.

It freezes in the doorway when it sees you. Its eyes dart towards the big, gorey pile of mess you are surrounded by, and then back to the messy, dripping monstrosity that is yourself. It seems to pale, and its bushy tail swishes from side to side. Slowly, carefully, it begins to close the door and back away, dark eyes and fluffy ears trained upon you.

>Make Chase!
>4 - Could be better. Quite a bit better.

You scrabble forwards, leg-tips scraping across the floor before finding purchase and propelling you towards the Delicious prey. As you move it also scrambles to get away, letting the door free and backing up. Luckily for you the door swings both ways, and you bowl right through. Your eyes take a moment to adjust to the sudden increase in brightness, and you get only a moment to take things in before everything happens at once.

The room beyond is much larger than the one you left, easily twice as far to the far wall, and several times that to either side. Two of the walls, the one in front and the one off to the right are transparent, made of floor-to-ceiling material that lets one see right outside. Smooth, white pillars hold the roof up, and beside them a few rather un-delicious potted plants are placed to try to make the room more friendly. A few steps from the wall near you, there is a row of counters and a series of conveyor belts that all seem empty, although the main belt is moving slowly. On your left the room is full of rows and rows of seats, with three delicious occupants all in a huddle. They have long, curly hair and spirally horns on either side of their head. You don't fell the same strange artifical hatred for them as you did for the thing you are chasing, but they are still delicious, of that you are sure.

But before you can get into too much detail, you watch as the thing before you trips on the conveyor and falls backwards with quite a bit of speed. Its head crashes into the counter-top and its neck is forcibly bent in a very sharp angle, one that makes you wince even though you don't have a spine. Its eyes glaze over and you can feel the deliciousness begin to fade from it, fast!

You skid to a halt, unsure of what to do...

You hesitate for a moment, and in that moment the last vestiges of Deliciousness fade from the fuzzy thing. Oh well. You turn and sprint, bouncing to the conveyor, then to the desk, then high into the air before arcing towards the trio.

The three are staring at you, mouths open, uvula's wobbling.

You crash land right on the Ram's skull, biting through and into its brain. Somehow you manage to keep your momentum, and you slither and slide all the way through it's body in a fountain of viscera before emerging from it's behind, entire spinal column devoured.

Of the remaining pair, the eyes of the taller one roll back and it begins to collapse, so you dart towards the third, shorter one. As the seconds creep by, you realise that this one is immature, not aged correctly, and is only half-delicious. Well, you suppose that means you'll just have to eat two of them. Your legs touch the ground for the barest of moments before you bring your teeth to its throat and dig in, dragging it to the ground and gnawwing away until it's head is severed from it's body.

You begin to crunch and bite your way through that one, and then on to the one that collapsed. Your feast consumes your mind, driving you on, biting and sucking on anything and everything, bone, sinew, fabric, flesh and even a little bit of chair, until not a single scrap of non-liquid creature remains.

You can feel their deliciousness was through you in tense, energetic waves, waiting to be expressed.

Once more bolts of lightning sensation ripple through your form, focusing in on your mouth and your forelimbs. It's unusual and not altogether pleasant to have your primary eating-hole messed with, but the emerging organ is sensitive and mobile, letting you pick scraps from out of your teeth. You lap up some of the blood on the floor. It's thick, sticky and has a slightly metallic taste, and you can sense the remnants of Deliciousness in it.

The space beyond your mouth also opens out, carving a strange hollow all the way through yourself from top to tail. While the greenery outside and in still doesn't looke Delicious, it does look edible. You could probably scarf down one or two in passing.

Your Forearms swell up, gaining mass before the tips of them burst and drip ichor all over the ground beneath you. At the tips of your arms are three-digit hands, with enough dexterity to twist and grab, pull and lift. You try to pull yourself up on one of the bench seats, but it's much easier to move about on all fours. In fact, walking around on your hands doesn't seem to be an issue at all, and you could probably carry something small and still keep a good pace.

Finally, after getting familiar with your new self, you begin to look around and examine your surroundings. Peering out through the blood-splattered glass, you can see the outside world. The glowing orb in the sky is high, casting very small shadows beneath everything outside. A small roof shelters the area outside the building you are in, and beyond that there is a gravelly road leading in either direction Off to one side is a wide, clear area with a undelicious tube, propped up on black circles. It is very large and, after a bit of studying, you realise that it has broad planes of the same metal structre stretching off to either side. It looks like it can move, and you can juuust make out a few delicious shapes through it's tiny windows. Off in the other direction the ground becomes sandy, broken up by green, leafy things that block your vision. In the distance there is a large, blue surface that stretches as far as you can see, and a few shapes dot its surface in the distance. Closer by, near the edge of the sand, artifical trees with fabric layers dot the landscape, sheltering the delicious things beneath. Finally, there seem to be other doors leading off into new, un-eaten sections of the structure you are in.

>What will it be, Plane, Beach or Resort? Find out next time on Bioweapon Quest!
>I'm not sure when next time will be, but the best place to find out is probably my twitter: @SolarTopee . I'll also post in the QTG when I have an idea, but I don't read that religiously.

>Thanks for playing guys, I hope you enjoyed yourself!

Thread 1 summary:

Biomorphs:
>Eyes gained! Black and white vision!
>Legs gained! You can now move about freely, and don't spend all your time on the ground. Also limbs are cool (and let you get a plethora of future upgrades).
>Tongue gained, and with it; a sense of taste! You now eat faster and hence are less likely to be interrupted while eating.
>Digestive system gained! You can now eat plants. Gain one hit point for each decently sized shrub you eat, or all the leaves of a tree. Or a prepared, vegetarian meal. There's a cooldown, but it resets when you eat a Delicious thing.
>Hands gained! You can grab things to catch yourself falling, and use them to pull yourself up! You still prefer to walk on all fours. You can also carry one small object while moving and still maintain a decent, if not top, speed.

Milestones reached:
>Bioweapon 0 - You can sense Delicious things within several metres, and have teeth with which to eat them.
>Ambusher 1 - You can now tell if things are Delicious by just looking at them. This will extend to new senses as you gain them.

For future note:
one half-delicious thing consumed for future biomorph
