Your sixteenth birthday has come and gone.
You got an amazing amount of money in cards sent by relatives. About two-hundred dollars total.
Most of it, you spent on steam games. Like this one.
What game is it? It's called Dungeon Quest. With a name that stupid, how could you not buy it?
You are regretting not taking a closer look at the steam page. It's been stuck on this plain white screen for about five minuets now.
Your computer isn't very good, but it should have loaded by now. Right? It must be bugged. Or incompatible with your computer or something.
Ugh. you really should have known better. At least it was cheap... Maybe you can find a bugfix online or something?
Wait! You think you saw the screen flicker for a second-
Cont.
Well. That's... Better.
It looks kind of tacky. And far too simplistic. It doesn't even have any music...
Ah well. at least you can play now!
What do you do?
>>474523
Click options, see what kind of settings you have!
>>474528
Seconding
>>474528
You open the options menu.
Wow this sucks. You guess it's better than nothing?
>>474537
Turn the sound on and go back and hit play!
>>474537
Change Sound to "Yes"
>>474544
>>474549
You try and change the sound.
It fails to change.
It seems you can't tun on the sound.
That's pretty dumb. why even have it in the options if you can't-
The sound turns on.

Wait. Is that the soundtrack from pokemon mystery dungeon? Did they straight up steal the soundtrack?
Whatever. At least it's working now. May as well try and play this thing...
You click the new game button.
Well this is interesting. Soul stats? What?
You hover over the stats and discover that the descriptions are rather... Lackluster. It tells you what each stat stands for but not what they do.
HP Health points.
DF Defense.
STR Strength.
SPD Speed.
CHA Charisma.
INT Intelligence.
DT Determination.
PE Perseverance.
HA Hatred.
EA Eagerness.
KIN Kindness.
LOG Logic.
Well... Time to distribute points you guess.
Oh, and it seems every point put in to HP gives you two points instead of one.
Also, you cannot put soul stat points into normal stats, and vice-versa.
Rolled 2 (1d5)
Rolling for something...
>>474591
Dump everything into charisma and speed
then dump all the soul points into Logic and Determination
>>474616
"Please put at least one point in every stat. " Says a feminine robotic voice.
>>474631
Focus on Intelligence, Charisma and Speed
and then focus on Logic and Determination
Now put a little in the other ones

Your name is HUMBERT and you are the PET CAT of a BARON.
You are MALE.
You are 2 YEARS OLD.
You are very FAST and CUTE and also FAR SMARTER THAN ANY OTHER CAT YOU HAVE EVER HEARD OF.
Most of your attempts to communicate with humans have been FUTILE as they usually just wind up going DAWWW SO CUTE! Rather than actually pay attention to the fact that an ordinary cat shouldn't be this smart.
One day, you found a MAGIC PORTAL that you wound up FALLING INTO.
You now find yourself in a STRANGE and UNFAMILIAR world.
Your goal is to GET BACK HOME.
Looks like the game filled in some info for you. Kind of shocking actually... Did the programmers really account for people putting thing like "cat" and "baron" in the character creator? Cool!
It even filled in a backstory for you. But it looks like you can change it if you want.
Do you want to change your backstory? If so, what do you want it to be?
>>474707
Well, we're a fucking smart ass cat, what are our surroundings?
>>474719
You don't know yet. Looks like there's a bit more to character creation before you can enter the game.
It seems you need to pick traits? Like... Personality traits? You guess?
>>474737
*Neutral
>>474737
Bad traits:
- Messy
- Easily annoyed
- Lack of friends
Neutral traits:
- Glasses, you have glasses
Good traits:

- Knowledge on how to pilot simple machines
>>474737

-Is a gentleman with the ladies
-Handsome
-Knows how to dance
Bad:
-Has a catnip dependency
-Prone to outbursts of laughter at inappropriate times
-Doesn't like getting up early
Neutral:
-Doesn't like fish despite being a cat
>>474773
I second this
>>474778
There's still room for one more trait. Or we could replace some of my suggestions w/ yours.
>>474814
We could add one more so I suggest knowledge on magic for good trait or knowledge on piloting machines?
>>474773
>>474778

Alright! Finally time to get into the game-
ARRRG this is taking forever!
Wait, hang on... What? It needs a picture to go off of? That's odd. Well whatever.
>>474833
I'm gonna draw a fucking cat, and glasses is fine too I like that more
>>474842
I'll leave the art to you.
I'm not exactly the greatest but here is Humbert!
>>474833
>>474901
I vote dis.
>>474901
This is really good, will use for sure! The next update may take a few minuets though.
You are in a field, having just fallen through the portal.
You may type commands in the gray box, but may not directly control your character. What do you do?
>>475178
I suggest going north, and sniffing the flowers along the way. Do we know any cheat codes?
>>475178
Check inventory.
>>475206
I second this
>>475224
Yeah, that works too
>>475193
>>475206
You input the Konami code. Nothing happens.
You type "Smell flowers" Your character takes a moment to sniff them.
("No catnip") says Humbert.
Check inventory
An inventory screen opens up. you are wearing a PURPLE COLLAR. It's not very good or bad, and as such provides no stat boosts.
Go north.
("Well, standing about wont get anything done. may as well look around...")
You find a pond.
Now what?
--------
Note: If an in-game character says something, It is displayed on screen, in the black space on the right.
>>475280
Drink water.
>>475294
This
>>475280
Look around.
I think that's it for today guys. This is, um, a lot harder than I thought it would be. May continue tomorrow, but no promises. Sorry. :(
>>475330
It's alright dude, you tried your best! Thanks for the fun time OP!
>>475330
Ok, thanks.
