Op is back and will be back until the civ is over. Where we left of we had several issues about searching the land and questions on why nobody was here before. However the current problem remains: How can we protect ourselves against the nomads?
We have a few ideas:
>boat city
>scout land
>colonize islands
So we've created rafts by cutting down trees, however our people are tired and need a place to rest and collect food. Islands aren't good places to collect food. We'll need to find a better way. Additionally all the people are ready to cut eachother's throats out on which island is the best for colonization. Anyway, you guess we have about 7 months left until the nomads arrive.

What shall we do?

people start eating more and more nuts, women have gotten sick of the bitter taste and have discovered that cooking it in water removes the taste. The water is poured out because it makes people vomit...But you have decent tasting food! It will last for a while until you need other nutrition.

However wood consumption is going up too. All trees are gone on the islands and people are sneaking wood of other's shelters. Additionally the saplings are "mysteriously disappearing".

I mean you gotta have balls for a water to land invasion in the stone age...
The enemies had long sticks for clubing, but the spears were thrown and stabbed for practice managed to get most of the riders, and the beasts for that matter too. the rest of the beasts are spooked and buck the riders off. Looks like they havent been really "tamed" yet. Anyway you have about 4 male survivors and beaten unconcious. And a couple beasts that are just standing there.

well that's good? Did not expect that. Tie up the survivors for questioning and tie up the beast until we figure out what to do with them.

Be careful and keep it covered with mud walls with sticks. Just keep it away from things that can get on fire.
>>

we listened to the idea, but there was not enough wood. we also cant cut down trees effectively.
>>
>>450285
Use rocks and use other rocks to shape it into a point and stick that on the ends of sticks and tie it with some rope made of water reeds, green. Then use the new tool named a axe to cut down trees.
Use the wood to build the smoke house and other things needed of wood.
>>
>>450285

Cut fish in half, leave both halves up and exposed to heat/smoke to more evenly and quickly cook.
>>

RE: Also this would use wood more efficiently.

using tips from the experienced fishermen our people made a large room for storing and preparing fish for storage.

Unfortunetly its not really helpful expect for morale and the taste of the fish.

its only been a lunar cycle and a half. It's early in spring. Storage is not necessary

anyway axes revolutionized cutting down trees. Now it only takes a few hours with one man! We float them on the water towards the islands and cut them up further later.

Wood is no longer scarce. But it is still managed carefully.

bows are simple. Your people have known others to wield them and its fairly simple to create crude recreations. While fairly close to the original, your tools aren't quite precise, but you do a superb job at doing it yourself.

anyway guys i gotta sleep 4 tonite.

>>450542
See you later
>>
op is back and ready for the next 18 hours bb lets do this.

So we have a new weapon. The bow. While our tools aren't the best, we have created well made bows that work very well to hunt. We have walls to protect our settlements on the coast. We have plants ready for planting but we don't have fields or even understand what agriculture is.

We're still very hungry.

Most common problems we hear about:
-hunger
-lack of land on islands
-people want to separate from other islands because they don't help each other.
>>
>>451493
Start making small holes in the ground in a row near the water, and place some seeds in the holes.
Allow people to settle off from the island, but make sure if there danger the island is the safe space.

as more children come of age, they desire for danger! So many are now moving to the mainland for adventure(and food)

still no sign of the enemies.

During the day, a child starts to draw in the dirt. It's a picture of a maze, and it's supposed to trap fish. Nobody listens to her.

On the coast a wandering group of hunters found a giant deposit of stone! Unfortunately they think it's worthless because you cant use it for stones.
>>
>>451610
Build the fish trap, and take some stones back to get looked at, maybe it can be used to build home with. Or give us metals.
>>
>>451614
fish trap will take alot of wood. Regardless it is built in the shallow ends of the lakes and rivers

The stone is gray.It is a soft rock and is easily scratched. There is a huge quantity in the area, but nobody has any idea what its for.

Problems you hear is in order of desperation:
-farming land
-food
-separation from the other islands
>>
>>451639
With the farming land, just get farms made on the mainland.

For food, do the farms, but also make more fish traps.

The other islands, we build some ships so we can go to and fro the island, faster and quicker.
>>
>>451648
farms have been made

fish traps have been set

boats have been built.

The islands look like thriving communities now. Sadly it seems more and more people are moving to the mainland and abandoning the islands. This way less transport is need to bring things to the island.

The beasts are too fast. You hit practically none of them

The spearmen make a valient effort.
In a blaze of patriotism they run screaming to the enemy and blast them away with spears. the lines and lines of men are strong and no matter where the ridingbeasts go they can't attack them. The beast are run over by the spearmen and decimated. The spearman run and start attacking the others. The enemy screams for help and the beasts are spooked. The riders run away and the beasts stand there.

You've won
>>
>>451880
With the battle won, we should take care of our wounded, loot the enemies, take the horses and train them to be ours, and rebuild the walls if there need to be repaired. And bury the dead.

Also make a military, naming the spearmen spartans, as they are our elite spearmen.
>>
>>451880
the moment the battle ends the southerners send a messanger.

"we've decided that you people aren't worth our time anymore. You barely defended yourselves while we did just fine. We make all the food and you have such horrible fields. We're splitting from you."

Also your fields to the north have all been burnt down except for the island ones. A good point is that you have loot!

Alright, start breeding the horses, and send a messenger with the south. That you'll be letting your fellow men die because we need food as well.
Also I want us to be back together, if I big threat comes we'll be stronger together. How about wise men of both north and south come-together and they'll led us to glory. So both north and south needs are heard and met.
If getting back together doesn't work just be friendly relationship, and trade with them.

Breeding the ridingbeasts goes well. Two foals have been born. Both female.

Food is worse than before. People are stealing and we have no idea how to manage the different islands and farms efficiently. People are fighting more frequently and nobody has any idea who to listen too.

The spearmen are worshipped as strong warriors in the village. They have turned to working with eachother for teamwork. They have declared themselves the natural guard of the islands.

the plants we only grow in marshy lands. That's mainly to the south. We need to find a way to increase the arable land size. Either by planting other kinds of crops or changing the land with flooding.

The local leaders work well for a while. They report to you, but there is no set capital city. Additionally we have no permanent settlements. They're all huts of sticks. No large buildings. Uncomfortable beds. We fought for this land, but now that we own it, we need to make this house a home. The leaders are also getting power hungry.

The rain has increased in the last few lunar cycles. The lakes have risen and thankfully only a few huts have been sucked up and away.

The southerners laugh and say this is why they broke away. They don't want to provide for you.

the stones we brought back were crushed in our buildings. However when touched the ground seemed harder. We've decided to use it for a "glue" between stones. However we still need to find a strong building material.

People are covering huts with dirt.

The first harvest comes. It went well. We have enough nuts, grains, and fish to last a while. An we have a storeroom for it all. If we tighten our belts we'll be able to make it through the winter.

We have family in the south who are sympathetic to us. We've seen them increase the amount of arable land by floating dirt on top of logs and reeds. it stays wet and marshy.

Instead of stone it looks like they're using dirt, sand, and reeds. They know our limestone and mud secret and have been using it to cover the walls.

They don't have horses though. And there's almost no wood anywhere

farmland has been expanded, the diets are more varied. A small amount of people are hungry, but there's always a poor class in any world.

People have been using the soft limestone to make notches in for tallies to mark the amount of crops grown. Sadly people can't count that high so they made multiple symbols that represent groups of 5.

Now the amount of produce can be tracked from each city and food can't be stolen.

People are looking for names for the city. They just call the islands by "big island" and "little island" and the cities "big village" and "little village"

Venice is currently the topic of discussion. Its overpopulated and with nowhere to work except for government and trading, the people there normally turn to colonization. This obviously displeases the leaders because they want a larger city for more goods to be created and traded. With everyone moving away, there's no goods coming in. They want goods that can be created by people.

Venice's merchants have hired people to help with trade. Therefore a new kind of boat was made to move faster and carry more without the use of as many sailors. its a ferryboat with animal skin sails.

Here a roll if you need it.
>>
Rolled 92 (1d100)

>>
>>457324
an administrator comes. he has his hands up
>>
>>457335
Talk with him. Make him spill the beans on everything. why they don't paying tribute.

And why were they trying to be oppose us? It has lead to only death and misey for them. They should have fellow the true God in Heaven.

Oh yeah how does the place look like? Any survivors?
>>
Rolled 81, 47, 13 = 141 (3d100)

>>457335
Rolls if you need it.
Do you take the average? Or best of three? Also a good tip is letting people know when to roll
>>
>>457335
Demand triple what they owe us from the missed tributes and compensation for the men we lost. Every tribute going forward is double what it once was
>>
>>457343
Well i agree we should do this, but after questioning him.

If the town is destroy how are they going to pay?
>>
>>457341
He says: "You howling thing, you don't need all this tribute! Your people fatten themselves on OUR hard earned crops. Our administration simply proved that we could benefit much more by not being partners with you. We even traded with ANOTHER one of your cities and got so much more goods. We have no god like you. We all have a purpose. Ours is to produce for our people. Yours is to be a parasite and steal our blood."

Why were you trying to be oppose us? It has lead to only death and misey for you. You should have fallowed the true God in Heaven.

"What kind of god allows the cruel mistreatment of our fellow man? What kind of god makes us think the entire universe revolves around him? Why do you think we are so special? We are NOTHING but a small part of the world."

Oh yeah how does the place look like? Any survivors?

"we've only seen the remanants of several families. There are many more dying right now."

We demand triple in tribute. And we want you to pay for our men that died.

"You think we can afford that? We were paying about 3/4 of our normal tribute which was about 40%percent of our gross production. Youre asking us to incease our production by at least 20% with no income at all for us while you burned down our fields and killed our people."

If the town is destroy how are they going to pay?

"we assumed we would be made slaves like it says in your so called holy text. Doesn't it say thou shalt not declare war in my name?"
>>
>>457348
You've brought this on yourselves. If you had come to speak to us from the begining we could have worked something out. Instead you went behind our backs.
>>
>>457358
Okay well you guys should figure out a solution, figure out what to do with people and burnt land. I must sleep
>>
>>457358
This
They should have talked with us. So none of this would have happened.
>>
>>457379
So what do you want to do with the people?
>>
>>457778
Teach them the true faith. Teach them for all there good work you will be forever gifted with eternal life.
Also keep them separate from each other, so they can't regroup. If there are some that just are really anti us kill them.

The only left part of the settlement is the adobe...

The families are separated from each other. They don't like it, but what can they do?

The other settlements are experiencing mixed feelings

Centorhold is proud

The northern outpost is frightened

Bear island is indifferent

Venice is outraged

Additionally the farms that Lakehold had are all burnt down. There is now rationing in effect in all colonies.

Don't forget the colony to the south needs a name.

The southern states send a message: "this is why we will never join you"
>>
>>458005
Set up more farmland, get everyone well fed and people will forget about it.

Send a message to the southern states. "We don't need a constant reminder. We get it you want your freedom. You don't need to say it every time we do something. Let's just trade, and both be free."
>>
>>458088
the southern states hear this and reply: "stop getting so goddamn close to our land with your farms

(note: the south doesn't look like this, this is just what you know about it)

The farms to the north aren't succesfull due to slow deforestation and wild things, but the rich soil of the south and open plains is much more welcoming

Send a message to the southern states. "Alright we'll build a wall and that will be our boarder, please help and the farms don't expand."
Still build it if they don't help.

Also go more west to build the farms, don't go so much south.
>>
>>458181

lakehold is gone. The land is dead. It hasn't had enough time to reforest
>>
we build some spiked pits near the large beasts to trap them for food (and to protect ourselves against them).
>>
>>458929
Do this
>>
Spiked pits have been dug.

The beasts don't leave the forest though.

People are wondering how we ever made it through the forest when we wandered here. Of course nobody is alive from that era.

People are suspecting divine intervention

Improve I mean that it fixes the problems that the people have, or at least lessen them
>>
Rolled 45 (1d100)

>>459608
Just saying improve the things that aren't good enouth isn't how this works. You need to be specific. As in say what and how you would improve it. For instance catch some of the less violent herbivor animals alive, domesticate and breed them. Let them graze it the fields we aren't farming after building a fence around it so that they can't run away.
