The snow falls steadily outside of your window, illuminated by street lights in the dim 5 a.m dawn. The morning routine drags onward as you force your naked body to enter the shower, a steady stream of curses leaving your lips as ice-cold water strikes you in the side; you look up at the ceiling, and begin to contemplate the lives you've taken.

---
- THREE WEEKS PRIOR - August 3rd, 2016

Before that day had occurred, you were the average run of the mill New Yorker. A recently college educated man just reaching his twenty-second birthday, a day that brought with it an interesting gift. The path you were taking back home was simple enough, a few twists and turns and you'd end up at either your apartment, or a little further onward your family's home.

It was after one such of these turns that you heard something drop, as if someone had loosed a pack of paper out a window and it hit the ground hard. You look around, making sure nobody is trying to hit you with things, and pick up the dropped bundle.

You rip away the shitty butcher paper covering it, and in your hands you hold a simple, black notebook with the word "DeathNote" scrawled in strange handwriting. You shrug, thinking nothing of it, throwing it in your bag to look at later, hustling to avoid being out at dark for too long.

---

When you got back home, made and ate dinner, and took care of personal business, the notebook was practically the last thing on your mind, but as the night grew late and whatever games you were playing began to bore you, and the notebook wormed its way back into your thoughts.

You open the front cover to reveal a deep-set ivory ink describing some sort of rules for the notebook. The first rules make you laugh with incredulity, it must be some dark kid's toy or some geeky fucker throwing out his shameful fake murder book, but regardless you carefully read the scrawling bone-like ink.

The rules boil down to some very clever restrictions, it was clear somebody had been putting a great amount of thought into making this up. The book was, as you guessed, based on murder.

It claimed simply that if you were to write a human's name in the book, with their face being pictured in your mind, that person will die. The other restrictions and rules reach three pages which you impatiently skim before opening to several hundred pages of blank, ruled paper.

You shrug, and turn your attention back to the television across the room from you.

It couldn't hurt to test it, right?

Michael bay (iirc, that director guy), die in massive explosion. Maybe car crash into gas station
>>
>>442943
This.
>>
>>442943
That seems a bit... Specific for a test don't you think?
>>
>>442953
If we're going to test it, it might as well be with something in mind rather than a random scribble. Fucking with the major religions is a funny idea.
>>
>>442953
You gave the option for write-in. Act like a QM and adapt to it.
>>
>>442957
Woah calm down, I didn't say I was going to reject it. I was just making sure it was justifiable.
>>
>>442953
I would assume the character would open up a wikipage for the islamic thing because honestly I just did that for islamic leaders and those came up. And the pope is the pope you know.

>>442957
Calm your tits dude

(Please NSA understand this is a fantasy work and we are not compiling a real list. Everything in this thread is fiction)

Your pen touches the paper of the Deathnote and you almost start to write the name of a random celebrity, almost. The thought of it would be funny - a random pop celebrity dying off at a young age and all of the weird mourning that would happen - but it just wasn't... Intricate enough for a power like that.

Quickly, it became a game to you, your laptop flares to life and quickly the tabs on your browser pile up as you research potential targets. One hour later, you have your 'fantasy' list - every major leader of mainstream islam and the pope. You scratch their names into the deathnote, the complicated Spanish name of Pope Francis and the many arabic names of the islamic leaders, and your hand was ready to cramp by the end.

You deliberately turned off the television at some point to focus on your mental exercise, every second it took to grab the remote and press the button was extended into small ages - punctuated by earth shattering heartbeats.

The flatscreen glows brightly, on the news channel from before.

It's Chaos.

The reporter was quickly explaining a breaking news story, as he was the first one written in the note, the Pope had already fallen. The host cut to a video of the event.

He was fine, at first, mid prayer in Latin in the public space of the Vatican, giving visitors the rare blessing of seeing him run Mass. Then it happened. The pope fell silent mid-speech, tearing a page from the massive bible, and running to grab a large marker lying on the wing of the stage to write a simple note "God has returned, God demands peace" in scrawling letters across the detailed manuscript, picked up by news cameras hung over the lectern.

The Vatican was turned to lock-down, and all media access to the Holy See stopped.

Then reporters found the connection to the Muslim world. Famous Imams were dropping left and right, the heads of the popular sects of largest religion in the world. All with the same note in arabic script "Allah has returned, Allah demands obedience".

Nobody knew what to make of the string of heart attacks and notes, the world was on high alert. Sweat trickles down your neck, with your breath hitched. Your mouth opens -

NEXT POST ROLL 1d100
1- 10 - Mental Break: You can't handle the sudden mental burden of having murdered 6 men. You snap, and we will roll on a table of types of insanity.

11-31 - Religious Paranoia: If this this is magic enough to kill people, it's perfectly reasonable in your mind now that a vengeful god whom you just scorned will find a way to punish you. This means that you will develop a keen fear of death, making you never want to risk your own skin.

32-50 - Thrill: The fear presents itself as a massive adrenaline boost, almost addicting you to the feeling, not taking great risks or gambles makes you feel unsafe and fearful to your core.

51-81 - Reasonable Fear: Your fear presents itself reasonably, you're shaken but overall you'll not lose much sleep over it.

82-100 - Full Sociopathic Break: You become not just fearful of something as simple as death, but a fear of life itself. Everyone is out to get you, and as a result you are now a sociopath to the core, your actions are motivated by the sole principle that all people are to be manipulated or be branded your enemy.

Rolled 45 (1d100)

>>443015
Here's hoping for 32-100
>>
>>443018
HERE WE GO!
>>
>>443019
It takes a moment for it to fully register in your mind that they are dead, but once your mouth opens a yell of fearful exhilaration, the kind a man would yell when sky diving for the first time, makes itself known. You have to pace the room a few times to work off the buzz of adrenaline in your system, mind racing to interpret the feeling.

"I killed them all, fuck I killed them all!" Your mind screams at itself, shaming you for what you did, but another voice quells it.

"I killed them and it felt good." It says, and that energetic buzz settles a little beneath your skin, life just got much more interesting.

What do you do next?
> Kill ( Write-in, don't forget this means full control over a person's actions, time, and situation of their death)
> Research response to the deaths of the religious leaders
> Continue with normal life, go to bed and go to work in the morning, leave the notebook alone for now
> Write-In
>>
>>443063

>> Research response to the deaths of the religious leaders

Lets find how this went before we do anything else. Otherwise we might mess something up. Plus if some idiots make themselves known we can... cut them loose before they make problems for us.
>>
>>443063
>>443067

Oh and before we do this kill some leaders of ISIS and have them say 'This is not Allahs way, I have failed in his test.'
>>
>>443063
We'll write in the Deathnote: All the names on the Most Wanted list, IS leaders and that step-dad who beats our mother (plot hook).

So, it's just like the Anime, but in America?
