Today is a special day in Rose Rock.
The Criers have been sent aloft the realm to tell the commoners of their future lord, the son of their master, and the youngest of House Porgiva.

That special boy is you. Here The Baron of Rose Rock has been biding his time in wars through far off lands in the name of The King, risking his life all the while and only taking on a pardon from his time on the battlefield at the announcement that you would be arriving into The World. Your father's name is Leoric Porgiva, and your mother is Lady Minette of House Onell.

There is a period of elation through the land at the thought of a new child to ward the realm, many commoners having feared out that they may have to fall victim to rule by Leoric's brother Cicero if he had no true heir of his own. With this, The Criers have been boasting your arrival all through the morning, but those who have seen you first hand know a more truthful opinion.

What rumors have they been when your father isn't looking?:
>You were born healthy, without any faults.
>You were born so strong like your father.
>You were born sickly, many doubt you will live.
>You look far too much like your Uncle Cicero.
>Write in.

There was dismay in your father's heart at the bed you weer born upon. Priests and healers of all sorts were gathered to whisper prayers around you, and many of the court members were denied the privilege of meeting you firstly as there was far too many busied moments passing with holy men of all sorts offering the favor of whatever go would hear the plea of the distressed Baron.

Your mother is confident in you. Through your many blessings and even a period where you were bathed in the blood of a lamb for an odd ceremony that tried to induce some form of sorcery to give the dead animal's life force back to you, Minette held you through it all and comforted the weak figure that would be you, heir of Rose Rock.

Even in your sickly disposition, you are breathing, and that is reason enough to hold you still ever as dear as a child more lively. Therefor you are worthy of a name.

What shall you be called, Little Lord?:

Your father has suggested that you be named after both your grandfathers, as to honor them both equally. Your name as from then on known as Buron Ortai Porgiva. A few of the courtiers have commented about the length of it, but it's not as if they have any true say in the matter. Your father and mother agreed upon it so that's the royal will they shall accept.

Through your earliest years, the elation of your birth seems to have calmed slightly, yet still now as the true born son of Porgiva, it seems all attention is on you once residents are in The Castle. These first moments are rather crucial, and it was at this time that your likes and dislikes were all open for establishment. It's now time to resolve just what it was really like to grow up in Rose Rock.

What happened, Little Noble?:

Cicero is your Uncle.
He is Ortai Porgiva's bastard with no known children of his own.
When he was a boy, he was often mocked and beaten by those better than him.
Many of those betters are dead now as Cicero reached The Cusp of adulthood. He has been jokingly named The Lucky for the fact that many of his enemies happen to die soon after they wrong him.

He is under the employ of your father, but when asked under what title, he proclaims he is but a feast planner.

You had a sister sometime in your childhood by the name of Matterina.
It was immediately apparent that she would turn into something that you were not. Healthy. As you grew out of your sickly phase and into proper childhood, you still donned the scars of long medical practices and the weak figure of a still small child. You did not grow much, but your sister, oh your sister had every great trait that had graced your family since the don of their founders.

Your mother's beauty and father's fitness found their way everywhere they needed into Matterina's body, and as you were reaching the age of your teens and late childhood, she had grown taller than you by such an immensity that it was already hopeless that you would be any more the man than she would. That's where you held greatness over her though, you truly were a man. She was always angered by the fact that a small thing like you was worthy of being heir, but she was made to be content and married off to a foreign lord once her age sought fit. Maybe if she wasn't such an immense bitch about her existence then you wouldn't tease her over your masculine right so much.

Now as you reach those later times of late childhood, your teen years fast approaching, you should set yourself into studies or a learning of sorts. You know that you will be a Baron of course, but titles are by no means lifestyles.

What do you want to do, Little Noble?:
>Find a Knight to Squire for
>Waste your youth partying and being luxurious
>Shun the outside and spend your time studying
>Join your father on The War Front
>Plan Feasts with your Uncle
>Write in

You spend your time doing more practical things with your life. In this, you study hard and spend time with your uncle, who is happy to teach you about his work. Through the first few months of apprenticing under him in the court, you do nothing much aside from truly assist in planning feasts, but near half a year into your studies, Cicero gives you a rather drastic order.

You took your first life at the age of twelve. It was a matter of poison in the drink of a man by the name of Garder from House Sandlin. There were whispers through the realm about a plotted alliance between your house and his by joining you in marriage to the drooling idiot of a daughter of his. You know your father, and he's a man that puts blood before the hopes of his young. Your sister has faced with the possibility of a wedding many times, and you'll be settling for no less than whatever minor lords can throw at you if you're not careful. So you took the advice of dear uncle Cicero, and made sure that your fate was your own to handle.

Garder died, wheezing ever harder until he fell into silence at a grand party of which your house had been so graciously invited. Nobody had noticed his death until servers came about offering refills on drinks only to find their lord silent as stone.

To this day only you and Cicero know the true fate of Sandlin. Your uncle has assured you that he has not lived so long as a cursed bastard by spouting such things to others.

A year later you became a Baron. You took to The High Seat at Rose Rock soon after hearing of your father's death. Apparently he had been taken in by House Makier in your king's war, and killed in the name of their false gods soon after the battle was over.

There were many there to announce your rule, but now you notice that this time there is no shock of elation as hey call your names in the streets like they did when you were but a babe. Surely the commoners must still be in mourning after the loss of Baron Leoric.

What about you, Little Baron?:

As long as we don't have an uprising brought by our uncle. Which we are under him and learned his way we can put a stop to.
Also he seems competent as fuck and likely has a good network we could use.
And we should have been educated by the best and know the best best educated in the land, and the people who lead their respective professions. I'd like to think so.

Cicero is a bastard, and not a legitimized one at that. He has no claim on Rose Rock, but if all other Porgivas die, he has fine enough reason to take the barony.

If you die however, your sister is the only other rightful claimant, and she's a might deal more popular than you.

But until I wake, my court, may Rose Rock stand strong in the face of our tragedies.
And remember, Coin Bags Hold No Water.
>>
>>436428
Funny i thought with us attending the feasts. We gained like a small charismatic boost. And well liked cause he was attending them out side his studying.
Also I wanted to ask if you have time, we're an intelligent MC. Did we study anything in particular. Or because we choose two we just average better than avg at both but nothing special?
>>
>>436388
At age 13 you decide to become the second youngest Baron of Rose Rock, only beaten out in youth by the man your second name is titled after. Ortai Porgiva.
You've grown into being a smart young man, you have no great deal of strength in your form, but by all means you have a mind that's sharp enough to kin men alive had you been not so kind. In this, you went about gathering and hiring a court that would be fine in its duties, one that can preform under the pressures of your small barony without worry. You happily hire Uncle Cicero back to his position as Feast planner, but now he is also your advisor. Many of The Courtiers say it's rather odd to see the likes of his bald head in the royal court rather than idling about outside in the kitchens.

You hire a set of men from around The Realm, aiming for those who are best at their job rather than those who are simply chosen for more nepotistic reasons. That being said there are now a few lowborn decorating your halls, which has caused a bit of distress in the eyes of some courtiers. Cicero has assured you that their concerns are meaningless in the face of efficiency.

You have a guard by the name of Darrison now, a lowborn man that had served in your father's armies for quite a long time. He has been revered for his ferocity in battle, and has been deemed a good match for a Baron's Guard.

From The King, you have a new, more permanent guest taking up residence in your keep. He is a royal observer by the name of Oudello, and he is here to assure that you stay loyal and wiling to serve your liege. Oudello is of House Varrenock, the younger born of three brothers. The Varrenocks rule The Barony of Rivermount, which is the province bordering Rose Rock. Your lands are separated by a slow moving river by the name of White Snake. With your knowledgeable guess, you assume that Oudello was chosen as your observer for if anything ill were to happen to him, you would be making a new set of enemies just crossed the river.

Now that you've ascended into your rose as Baron, you have more pressing duties to attend to, like finishing growing up, and making sure the realm is at peace. Oudello has assured you that you will not be called to war by The King until you are a man.

What to do, Little Baron?:

>>
>>437010
You decide that it's time to learn a bit from your courtiers. You did hire them to be surrounded by the greats after all, why pass up the opportunity to make something great out of all this readily available knowledge.

Your uncle has taken to managing many of the true noble duties, but you're often enough the one left with the large decisions. Luckily for you the only large decision that has been given since your father's death has been who to vote for in the casting of a new high priest, those of which had such numbers skewed in the favor of Wallmus Sandlin that it hadn't mattered if you voted against him all day, he still took position as high priest of The Realm.

Meanwhile, you've been taught how to rule, how to manage armies, even how to read and write in a number of languages that stretch your lands, and many over. It has been three years since the time of your father's death, and you know well that the legal age of manhood is at sixteen under The King's Law. Starting next year at any given time you could be called out to war. You worry about this, for you are a weak boy, a short being that isn't worthy of any sword aside from daggers and rapiers.

You remember something your father told you long ago though, about the importance of family and the necessity for a wife in your years. Perhaps after all this time, the old man's words are truly starting to ring true for you, for your death at war is a high possibility. Perhaps it is time to take a wife.

Search for love,Little Baron?:

>Marry into Old House Sandlin for their religious influences

I like the idea of marrying a lowborn lass. Puts a bit of a handicap in addition to our sickliness. Also makes for a nifty love backstory.
>>
>>437971
>Marry into Old House Sandlin for their religious influences

Religion is vital and an understanding and influence in it will do a lot to increase our power. Plus, depending on the religion, I wouldn't even mind being truly devout, believing that God saw us through our sickness and gave us our lack of strength to sharpen our wit and learn humility. Also all are equal when compared to God and gives us a good basis of our meritocracy.

You have decided that you should marry something that you find appealing, and in that you're willing to look a bit harder into your potential brides.

In house Sandlin, there are a pairing of girls.
The head of House Sandlin is Miremen Sandlin, whose father you ended the life of ever silently, he still never knowing that little truth.
Your abundant skill in diplomatic relations and deceitfulness have left you able to smile and act as if the whole event never even happened.

The first maiden is Miremen's older sister, Vile.
Vile is a young woman at the age of sixteen who is of a fairly average complexion. She is adorned in freckles along her cheeks and down her arms. Her red, glowing hair expresses every bit of the flaming star that serves as her family's symbol. Shes' passionate, a will to be reckoned with by all mans. She has been pampered for marriage and prepared for a life as a housewife for whoever she may marry. That is, before her father died. Now she busies herself practicing sword and bow at all hours. Her brother seems not to care much for her hobbies, royal marriages are none of his concern.

The second is Miremen's younger sister, Bouvia.
You killed a man to avoid marrying Bouvia. She's an imbecile in all rights, even for one at the age of only fourteen. It's become increasingly apparent to Miremen that this sister is nothing to be proud of, and has been considering marrying her off to merchants for pay instead of offering a proper dowry for her. She is a devout woman though, always peaking so highly about The Gods. It's an odd thing really, when the notion of religion is brought up, her seemingly dump disposition vanishes into obscurity for her to talk about theocratic philosophies. She sometimes makes you uncomfortable, as she's very blatant about the fact that she's attracted to you. In the short while you were visiting Keep Sandlin, you slept in a separate room with your uncle for you thought she would try to visit you at night. A few guards tell you that your assumption was right, but she of course found only emptiness in your room.

House Varrenock has two girls as well, though one of them is exceedingly young.
House Varrenock is lead by Master Outton, who is Oudello's father.
The first girl is of age eighteen. Her name is Oudess and she is a living titan. It confused you as you first came to meet her, for she's large, immensely so. You are used to being shorter than others, but you swear by all the gods she's seven feet tall. She's a dainty thing still, often refusing to commit violence even as it seems as if she could swat away attackers with a wave of the hand. Her lengthy black hair streams down her backside, reaching to the arc of her hind and firmly holding itself as a sleek, almost inky coloration that all The Varrenocks seem to have. She is soft spoken, kind, and generally grand to be around.

>Cont.
>>
>>438183
The second girl of House Varrenock is Oudimas
She is only six years old, but often enough insists that she's seven. You met with her under the impression that Outton wasn't truly being serious about you wedding her, but as it turns out he was. He states that if you wish to wed her, you two shall be betrothed, and once she reaches the age of fourteen she shall be sent over the river to Rose Rock. Truly not much can be gained of her personality as you speak to her, but it's assured that she's being trained as a noble, dutiful girl. You seem to doubt this though, as fr the second time you met her she had ran through the castle covered in enough mud to put pigs to shame.

The last house is Terrick.
Terrick is lead by an old man by the name of Garrison The Heavy.
You see why he's named that, as it appears that he's massively fat.
He has one daughter, her name being one of Darime. She's surprisingly not fat like her father, but is surely chubby. She was raised with a silver spoon, quite literally, she is immensely high maintenance and self centered in every way. She's had the audacity to turn down three suitors on her own terms before, and her father adores his only born child enough to accept her will. Even The Women Terricks are apparently held at a greater esteem than the men of other houses. Luckily for you, she thinks you're adorable. It hurts your soul a small bit to hear that she thinks you're cute over the fact that you're so small and weak, but at the same time her father is The Duke of Silver Trail. It's a land not only saturated in silver mines, but holds a grand, taxed road that many eastern traders walk upon on their travels into the region. If you were to marry the chestnut haired girl, you would have a hand in that wealth as a son in law. If only you could be a bit more respected. Damn Terricks.

I'm sorry, I gotta argue these points. this is a great choice, probably the best but fuck if it isn't boring as all hell. Being pragmatic is nice and all but for the love of this quest the mc is in his teens and if you know anything about anyone that age is that they want some shit out of life whether it be excitement or purposefully putting themselves in hazardous situations for x and y shitty reasons etc.

I don't say this because of the practicality of the mc and his choices at this stage of his life, that's only 20% of the pie. I want to make an interesting story that's not all backstabbing and intrigue bullshit.

I say go for vile because she is obviously the most interesting option considering history, motivations, differences in personality, etc. also the most likely noble the mc would fall for considering that most people at this age want what they don't have, vile personifies those traits the most I find.

You decide to marry Oudess.
You arrive at Rivermount with a sense of determination about you to claim your new position as wedded to The Varrenocks, but what you see calms that internal flame a bit after. You fine Oudess first at Verrenock Manor, but it simply appears as if she's gardening a mound of pink roses that are growing around the east most wall. Seeing this, you go to help her for a while, and she's ever elated that you've returned. You hope that she's happy of the fact that you returning means you've decided to wed her. You're not the first to ask this though as you've become far too busy making that good impression with all the gardening work that Master Outton soon comes out of his manor to greet you as you're in the midst of planting a new rose. He asks if you're here to take Oudess's hand, to which you valiantly answer yes. Your fiance blushes furiously and feigns surprise, but it's apparent she was wholly expecting it. She seems happy for your choice.

Your Royal Observer Oudello congratulates you on the decision as you return to Rose Rock and the two of you spend quite a lengthy amount of time talking about your new in-laws. It becomes apparent that Oudello is fiercely proud of his house, and is drastically intent on making the wedding as perfect as he can manage. You bond with him over the experience, and seem to become good friends with the time spent out selecting locations and gifts for guests. Maybe having him as your observer wont be so bad now that you're wedding his sister.

Your wedding day takes place on the bank of White Snake River, the watery body that divides your lands from that of The Varrenock's. This is the first time in ages that Porgiva and Varrenock have been wed and both sides of The River have been made one. An old priest that's ministered the union of three generations of Varrenocks is the one that sanctions your union. At the age of seventy, The Old Priest by the name of Doggard is most suitable for it's told that weddings are lucky when ordained by elders.

As you stand with your new wife, you are asked the one question that many a young man must answer by the slow speaking elder before you.

What god will bless your union, Little Baron?:
>Leoric The King Maker
