Topic might suit the /qtg/, but the activity in there always drops drastically after auto permasage. In this thread people can post ideas/pitches for quests they'd like to run or see someone else run. Others review these pitches/ideas with constructive criticism while helping them improve on their ideas and not bash them.

OBS. Ignore anyone going "It's shit" or anything of the sort. It's the mark of a shitposter. To start us off, I got an idea of my own:

A party of six individuals have either through fate or for mutual gains, be it coins or fame etc. gathered together. You are The Fighter, the leader of this group. You want to become an Adventurer by profession, Hero by reputation. Much like your mother before you. Travelling with you are the young Rapier-wielding Elvish Bard that loves to sing and play on his Ocarina. He wants to weave a tale and a song from these adventures; The Witch and her brother-turned-familiar whom both want to break the curse of witchcraft set upon them and return to human form; The Ranger who is a naive young girl that was thrown out of her village. She wants to prove to them that she's not worthless by hunting down a Legendary creature; The Rogue is a volatile woman who's a thief by profession, but engineer at heart. Her motives for joining the group is unknown for now; The Berzerker, a former dwarf smith turned mercenary when one of the Dwarven Kingdoms was lost to the goblin hordes. He now seeks to convince the former Dwarf Lords to give their support to him and acquire enough coin to support and outfit a new host of dwarves with armor and steel to retake his lost home.

Follow these six as they go about their Action/SoL Adventures where they take up contracts and missions from town to town, city to city, exploring the world whilst crawling through dungeons, hunting down bandits/packs of monsters, and escorting items or people of importance through dangerous areas etc. for coins and rewards. Eventually you'll get to help each and everyone of your group members with their own personal quests as well.

Okay so I have an idea I'd like to pitch, it's still a work in progress though and I won't be ready to run it until this fall probably (I like to do thorough research and prewrite a lot of lore and stuff). Anyways:

The main character, whom the players control, is a hunter/poacher in a world with mythical beasts. You stalk and kill these epic creautures to loot/harvest rare materials etc. (think ivory, cool feathers, venom sacs). These can be sold or used.

There will be a plot interwoven with the in-quest questing (killing stuff) which I'm not ready to reveal.

You will costomize the character (weapon of choice, companion, stats), the choices will have impact on the gameplay.

The focus will be on really fucking cool creatures and highly interactive "fighting", as well as the underlying story.

the first idea is cool, to me at least, its set on the day of the columbine shooting and the mc choices can be student, faculty, security, fuck even a janitor if the players want it. the main goal of the quest is to survive the shooting

but there will be other 'side quests' that will only happen if the players choose to do them ie, clean up a spill, go to class, etc.

the mechanics of how to give players the character options as well action stuff that could occur.

the 2nd quest is probably pretty a common one as it is just a 1 first person civ quest. I liked the way the medieval mercenary quest dealt with certain civ aspects

the difference would be the location would be static and already decided + main character was already written but players would choose certain traits.

i had a few things written but certain civ aspects im a little confused about still mainly how to handle resources

This sounds fun, but I'd rather play at the level of sergeant, where the QM can make a group of consistent underlings with recognisable characters. It'd be even better imo if the battles and skirmishes were alternated with other activities, like making camp with improvised resources or fortifying a fort using surrounding natural materials.

That doesn't sound like my sort of quest. And the quest premise is cliche; there's absolutely nothing original in it, meaning that the originality will have to be provided by the creatures and the areas which they inhabit. I would say if you are going to run it, you should make suspense a large part, with the monsters lurking in areas with lots of cover and the MC being obliged to enter these areas alone. If you can make three-dimensional movement through the areas reasonably possible (say, through a collection of caves and tunnels or a town spread out over multiple levels of a tall forest), that would make the areas more interesting.

A dragon age style world/quest. Full of Humans, many different types of Elves (Forest, Rain, Mountain, Dark, Light, etc), and several new races that I won't go into total detail about. You go on a quest to try and stop a legendary evil, uniting (or attempting) the land against this evil and other threats that may occur. Being able to send agents into places to spy/fight/and use diplomatic solutions, gaining influence and allies, do personal quests for your teammates, etc.

MC is a non human alien, a member of a intergalactic dominion, which just so happens to include some human worlds, some of which are fuedal or feral in nature.

He's part of law enforcement, hunting down a serial killer as he bounces from world to world.

MC searches by following clues/leads and making allies on civilized worlds and not so civilized worlds, each with their own customs, superstitions, and misconceptions.

After enjoying the Christian apocalypse setting as a playground for a strategy rpg I got thinking. What about other settings based on mythology? Literal, non anime, ragnarok woukd be a nightmare survival campaign. What about a qst where the Scientologist are right and Zenu comes to earth and trades lasers and ballistics with the armies of the human race? The possibilities are as limited as the number of belief systems!

That actually sounds like something I'd like to run.

I've been thinking for a while of doing a Roman Patrician Quest, where you play as a patrician family and spend your time undergoing intrigue and gaining more and more power over time. I think a Legionary quest could be a good way to prologue that, setting up the first pater famillis in the years before becoming a Senator, starting as perhaps a tribune, or even simply a Centurion if the players wanted their first character to be a new man.

I got one.

You're a mob character in an anime with a Highschool DxD-esque cliche-ridden, fanservice-so-annoying led by a Shounen hero - except you're aware that you are and really just want to get through the 2nd and 3rd years of High School and maybe get a scholarship, amidst all the chaos. However, due to circumstances, somehow you end up being on either the side of the hero or the big, evil bad guy and have to maneuver them through the steps of... operating as sensibly as they can.

Basically, it's a Quest about playing the best straight man that you can by pointing out things like property damage, that homework is due, that the reasoning to save the world or destroy it is bullshit and actively discourage the cliches and get the villainnesses/heroines to sto slobbering over hero/bad guy dick and act normal for once.

I'm thinking of running a Dungeon Crawl Classic tournament funnel where every anon gets his own (randomly generated) character. Funnel keeps going until the 0-level party reaches the end of the dungeon and exits. Those that die in the ensuing bloodbath will just get replaced by fresh PC's. We'll have say, 8 slots in the party, anytime one of the slots is cleared up we can let another character in.

In the end, the 3-4 survivors that make it out alive, will be the protags for more adventures. Thinking of just using the DCC ruleset and modules.

I had this idea for a quest back when the board was up first, but I was too lazy to finish it and scared to post anything, but here it is now;

it was gonna be a group six role playing as the members a space ship, they were gonna name their ship and all.
In another thread there would be another story, of another crew, but in the same universe, in fact on the same planet, and in time, the two stories/threads would collide.

So, I've had an idea, but I don't really know where to go with it besides a bit of base building, resource construction, and exploration.

Basically, damaged "companion android" wakes up in the cargo hold of a ship, ship gets fucked up in warp transit, the cargo hold the character is in gets spat out into random dimension thanks to hyperspace being allergic to unprotected free-floating mass.

The cargo hold the character is in ends up in the middle of a wasteland on a planet that turns out to be a fantasy world with dorfs and not-quite elves who can turn into giant bats every full moon.

The cargo hold is mostly intact with a bunch of useful materials to make shit with, and maybe some actually useful working things is the players roll well, as well as a connected corridor bit that could be broken down for raw materials.

The problem with this is I don't know where the fuck to go with all of this, nor how really to create a form of antagonist that could be interesting enough. I would really focus on the exploration, as this particular world I have fond memories of from a PBP game I was in a long ass time ago, but I don't really know if it would attract any players.

Would a quest involving the Warcraft setting be welcomed?

Had an idea of the MC being a veteren Gilnean shock trooper on their return journey from a tour at Black Rock mountain, keeping the region under watch incase those damn Orcs try to stir shit up.

Hearing tales from Ironforge that all was not well in the northern realms our heroes would be eager to get back and make sure their homeland is safe. Yet as they continued north the towns and news from the North continue to dwindle in size and meaning.

It's only when they are on the royal highway that they truly discover something wrong as bands of pesky murlocs, gnolls and other minor creatures have the gall to attack them!

There after we'd find out some terrible things have gone down in the Northren realms, civil war of Gilneas, Capitol city burning, King Teneras slain and undead roving and reaping their way to Dalaran.

It's up to our MC to become a deciding factor in a variety of key points in the wars to come, support the rightful king and his isolationist policy or the rebel lord who's efforts wish to safe all of the realm? Combat the undead as they come or let them pass as there are more pressing matters at hand? Try to reclaim the land even as it withers and dies around them, or flee to new lands based on the mad prophesies of a young mage?
