Some time after your first mission, you arrive at a familiar location. A place often described as surreal and melancholic; the Vulture's Landing.

Founded alongside the growing mercenary caste, the Vulture's Landing is a neutral ground where guns for hire--soldiers who call themselves "Vultures"--can rest, resupply, and network with potential contractors. It was here that you met your partner and mentor, OPERATOR.

Your dropship lands and the Leo-Ray is transferred over to the local hangar for resupply. Some of the Landing's workers begin to approach you with paperwork, but OPERATOR cuts them off and gets busy handling the management duties for you. Your partner will also be collecting your pay soon enough, the highlight of any successful mission. For now, you retire to your humble apartment. The residences available for rent in the Landing are built entirely for function and short term visits; Vultures don't stick around long enough to warrant building mansions for them. And tenants often die before they can pay off their rent anyway.

You wake up the next day after a refreshing night of rest. Your communicator appears to have a single message from OPERATOR asking to meet with you about your paycheck and how the funds are to be spent, and also about your next job. But of course, it's not extremely urgent if you have other things to do.

Some of the Vulture's Landing's landmarks include:

>"The Hangar," a location where the vehicles and Cores of mercenaries are stored. Most machines are stored in public areas and can be viewed by anyone. Those more concerned with privacy can stow their Cores away in more expensive private hangars, but most pilots like to show off their machines anyway.

>"Fullmetal Shots," a bar where mercenaries gather for casual socializing. You recall first meeting OPERATOR there not too long ago.

>"The Nest," an arena where pilots can engage in duels. These fights are usually to the death, and so the arena rarely sees use. There aren't any duels scheduled right now.

>"The Perch," a secluded area atop the Landing's tallest point. It has no real function despite overlooking the entire area, and is mostly used as a place for private meetings. OPERATOR asked to meet you there to speak about your next move.

>"The Undertow," a closed off underground section of the Landing that is not officially in use. Happenings that are not publicly condoned by the Landing happen here, though it's unclear to outsiders what that really means. OPERATOR has urged you not to go down there. Ever.

How would you like to begin the day?

The bar is a dark and solemn place. The tensions here are high, like something right out of an old western. It suddenly dawns on you that many of those gathered here have been contracted by opposing Corporations and may have even fought one another in real battles before. Members of the Vulture's Landing are unified only by their careers and the convenience of a neutral meeting ground; that doesn't mean anyone here are actual allies or friends outside of the Landing's territory. But at the very least, neutrality is enforced here, and most grudges probably won't turn violent.

You can feel plenty of eyes suddenly turning their gaze on you as you enter, but it's impossible to pinpoint exactly who's looking at you. They've all probably heard about you, the new mercenary piloting a state of the art Third Generation Core. The majority of these soldiers are second rate pilots using mass produced machines; even though they're veterans by comparison, you outclass all of them with sheer firepower, likely causing many of them to resent you by principle. The bartender at the very least gives you a friendly smile and a nod, beckoning to an empty stool at the counter.

"Welcome. You're the new fella aren't you? Heard you made your debut the other day. Kicked the crap outta those Iron Cross clowns, huh? Well, congratulations on a job well done. What can I get for you?"

>The menu is pretty standard and nothing in particular stands out. If there were more competition, this guy would probably get run out of business.
