Elder Scrolls Quest: Gold Coast Edition #1

Welcome to the Gold Coast.

It is the Fourth Era, year 231. The Civil War in Skyrim has ended with a Stormcloak victory due to the intervention of the Dragonborn. Morrowind has repulsed the Argonian invasion, and are preparing for a counter-attack.

However, none of this concerns you.

You are low on the rung of life. You hold no power, no influence, no wealth. You have decided to rebuke your former life, and strike out as an Adventurer in the city of Anvil on the Gold Coast.

First things first, It's a little dusty, what race are you?


(( The thread with the most replies when I look at them are the answers I'll go with. There are no set in stone options, and I will evolve the story around your choices. Also, be wary, this is my first quest thread. ))

You stand at the gates to Anvil, all of your worldly possessions sold to pay for what you've bought to supply your adventuring lust.

Your Inventory:
Robes of Fortified Magicka - Increase Magicka by 6 points.

Wand of Open Novice Lock - Allows the wielder to open any Novice Lock.

Six days rations.

Bedroll.

3x Torches.


Current Spells:

Muffle [TIMED] - Muffles the caster’s footsteps, allowing them to move about more quietly. 2 Magicka.

Candlelight [TIMED] - Conjures an orb of magical light that floats around the caster. 1 Magicka.

Mend - Heal a tiny, but pervasive amount of damage. All paper-cuts, small bruises, and minor fatigue removed. 2 Magicka.

Magicka fully regenerates after a full rest.

CURRENT MAGICKA:

There is a road sign that tells you directions to the nearest cities.

Kvatch is the closest by only being a half-days travel. Skingrad is a days travel away.

However, you have heard rumours of a few Ayeleid ruins deep in the forests that lay untouched for hundreds of years.

You head to the tavern, and sit yourself down at the table. It's around mid-day so the tavern is somewhat empty, although there are a few mercenaries chatting about.

The only real rumour of value is that the Count is looking for someone to accompany a voyage to the isle of Stirk, as it has been out of contact for a few months now. The two mercenaries complain that the job doesn't pay well.

Aside from that, nothing of note aside from gossip rumours about the Blacksmith cheating on his wife with the local Alchemist.

Aside from your magickal talents..

You are able to speak Dunmeris, and Common.

The rest are up to you to decide.
You head out of the city gates, and walk in the general direction of the Ayeleid ruins. A few minutes out of the city gates, and you notice a Bosmer with an overturned Caravan. He seems very distraught.

He responds, frantically. "My shipment! Some Nords came and knocked it over, and walked away! LAUGHING! Can you believe that! I can't life this by myself, how am I going to get it into Anvil before the shops close!? WAit, can you help me lift it, please? I don't have much on the way of payment, but you'll have my gratitude!"

You walk away from the Bosmer, who continues to lament his stock. You continue on your way to the Ruin, when you finally see the white stones of the top of the ruin. The foliage is thick, but you could swear you see something moving about around the entrance.

You approach her, calmly, and ask her if she's enjoying the ruins.

Her eyes dart to you, nervously. Her hand twitches to her weapon, but stops once she realizes you mean her no harm.

"Yes.. I am. Have you come for the same reason I have?" She asks, her hand still gravitating to the hilt of her sword.

The nervousness in her body vanishes and she returns a light smile. "I'd gladly like the help. To be honest, I was afraid of going into these ruins by myself. You look like a mage, what sort of magic do you specialize in?" She asks.

She responds with another smile. "Destruction and Conjuration. My name is Silana by the way."

You head in first, and are greeted by complete darkness. Silana follows in after you.

"Pretty dark in here, you got a light? All of my destruction spells are frost related."

You close your eyes for a moment before a ball of blue light appears in your hand and gently floats above your head. You estimate this will last about ten minutes before expiring.

The newly illuminated surroundings are much like you'd expect. Abandoned and barren.

There are three passageways, each branching off from the room you are currently in.

Two of them have shut doors, while the third's door has been smashed in.

Silana whistles. "Gee, don't want to run into whatever caused that. Where to, glorious leader?"

The door appears to be smashed inwards, from the direction you're currently standing.

You motion to one of the closed doors, and walk over to it, careful to look for traps. Silana is not so careful and just runs over to the door. She pushes the door inwards, and turns to you with a big smile. "Easy!"

Right as she says this, you hear moans from down the hallway of the door you just opened.

It's not an ideal weapon, and Silana's not got a good spell either.

This is obviously a fight that will be a lot harder than it has any business being. Unless it's only one zombie, we could easily get killed, being a squishy mage.

And even if we don't, we'd probably get diseased because the frost spells won't kill them from afar, and we can't cure those yet.

You cast Muffle on yourself, and Silana. She shuts her eyes and holds her hand up in the air, purple wisps flowing around her hands.

From the ground, a rip opens, and a skeletal hand pulls the rest of it's body out. A skeleton clad in cheap, rusty armor, with a cheap, rusty axe stands in front of you.

From the hallway, comes a lone zombie, ambling towards you, Silana, and Bones McRusty.

(( Since the majority of options seem to center around letting Bones McRusty do all of the work. ))

Silana commands Bones McRusty to charge forth, which he does. He hobbles forward, and sinks his axe into the Zombie's face, which does little to nothing as the zombie slaps at the Skeleton with it's one good hand.

The short battle is all in all really sad, and depressing. As Bones simply just dismembers the zombie without an incident.

Silana turns to you, obviously about to make some sort of comment, when you hear something akin to footsteps coming down the darkened hallway.

Silana groans, and calls Bones back to her, ready to defend against whatever else is coming down this hallway.

Silana readies a spell in her right hand, but you are greeted by an.. odd sight.

A Redguard, in full armor, running as if for his life down the dark hallway. Upon seeing you, he immediately holds his hands up.

"WAIT! WAIT! I'm peaceful I swear!"

You can plainly see the massive pack that he carries. Something glows from within it's depths.

The Minotaur moos very loudly in the depths of the hallway.

Bones McRusty hisses.

"If you give us the.. whatever it is you stole from the minotaur, we'll make sure it doesn't follow you." You say, Silana nods and puts on her best smile to help convince the man.

He frowns and shakes his head. "Nope, I worked too hard to get this thing. I'm selling it as soon as I get out of here." He starts to walk towards you, aiming to leave.

You move the light into his eyes, as Bones McRusty bonks him on the head with the flat of his axe. He goes down like a sack of potatoes.

Silana quickly retrieves the shiny thing, which just so happens to be a Welkynd Stone. The Minotaur rushes up.

It's a hulking, beast of a thing. It stands a foot taller than you and Silana, and has an axe about as long as you.

"GIVE SHINY." It yells at you. It smells awful.

You give the Welkynd stone back to the Minotaur, who stares at it with happiness. He turns to you and speaks.

"Me thank. Me name Mori. Name after big hero." He swells with pride of his name.

"My name is Elona, and this is Silana." Silana waves as you mention her. "Do you want anything of us? Or maybe want a reason to leave this ruin and come adventuring?" You ask.

You were never really good at convincing people to do things, but you hope that since this Minotaur is as dumb as a box of rocks, that maybe it'll be easier to convince.

It thinks for a moment. You could swear you saw the smoke from the gears grinding in it's head. "Me help you in ruin. Lots of yellow armored things. Me crush." He nods once, exhaling air from his nose, in true bull fashion.

You and Silana go through the mans bag and find nothing more than some more rations, and another bedroll. The sword on his hip is an elven shortsword, but his studded leather armor is a bit too heavy for your tastes.

Mori watches the hallway for you. He still smells like shit.

Bones McRusty stands beside him. He's reattached his lower jaw.

You leave the Redguard on the floor, unconcious.

You, Mori, Silana, and Bones make your way to the door that hasn't been opened. Mori proceeds to kick it in. Much like the one that was opened when you got there.

On the other side, resides three reanimated suits of elven armor. Mori shouts "YELLOW THINGS!"

If not, let Mori make mincemeat of one of the armors, send Bonesagainst the second and hope Silana has any useful destruction spells for the third

Your surroundings are literally an empty room, with one side of the hallway collapsed. The armor was just standing in there.

Mori bats one of the armor sets against the wall like a club. Bones attempts to smack one of the armors, but gets crushed underneath a large hammer. Silana shoots an ice spike at one of the armor sets, and it's helmet goes flying, and the rest of the set crumples.

Mori then proceeds to club the third with his fist.

Alright everyone, I'm calling it a night. I've gotta get some sleep before work.

I'll end up starting this again when I get home, so be on the lookout.

The summary of today's actions:

Elona struck out as an Adventurer, selling her earthly possessions to buy what she needed to start her new life.

A dunmer mage of Alteration, illusion and restoration, she has a Wand of Open Minor Lock, Robes of Fortified Magicka, Six days rations, a bedroll and three torches.

On her way out of the city, she encountered a distraught Bosmer Merchant, whom she proceeded to ignore and walk to the Ayleid ruin she had set out to find.

She encountered Silana, an Altmer Mage of Destruction and Conjuration. Together, they went into the ruins together, encountering a lone zombie, a redguard, and a Minotaur.

After a series of events, the zombie was dead, the Redguard was unconcious, and the Minotaur(named Mori), was helping the two Mages clear out the rest of the ruin when they ran into three animated suits of armor. With the help of Silana's skelton, Bones McRusty, they dispatched the three skeletons.


That's where our story lets off, and I hope to see all of you later tonight. Cheers.

After the conflict with the armored skeletons, you head back over to the Redguard, who is now regaining consciousness. He raises his head to you, blinking slowly.

"Wh-.. What happened?" He asks, rubbing where Bones clonked him on the head.

The Elven Armor is decrepit, old, and probably useless. From what you can tell, you could probably get a half decent price at the shops in Anvil for it.
