Your first protocol is simple. Activate your primary systems. With a whir generators your mind snaps awake.

You’re falling, your rapid descent hurling you towards a world currently obscured by thick clouds. Your outer shell is taking the heat of entry well, and a quick scan informs you it will take the impact as designed. In seconds the clouds blot out your eyes and ears, blind you can only scan local temperature. Its far too hot. You were meant to land in an area you could thrive but the heat here will prove difficult.

The clouds pass in an instant and youre greeted with a land of molten stone and hard, shimmering obsidian.

The impact of landing racks through your huge frame, blinding you and knocking several systems into restart mode. Your shell is still in shape and with some effort you will it open, letting you free into the open air. A subsystem flickers to life, your eyes and hands are listed to you in a stream of information. Some did not survive the impact, but the damage is within acceptable parameters.

A prompt opens before you. What is your first action?

To function you first need your eyes to see the land and your hands to work. Routing some of your surplus power to your exterior units they flicker to life. Several of viewpoints flash over your own systems. A few of the drone bays are crushed, scrap scattered across the ground near them. You take a moment to get a feel for your first awoken drones.

The Workers are light framed and slow, meant to work without duress and danger these first few are meant to be easily replaced through another of your systems. Each has a pair of thick clamping arms and a dozen underslung tendrils to assist them in their labors. Upon each back sits a dip for them to carry materials in held aloft by a thick set of heavy-duty treads. Your hands flex pleasantly, many chirp and beep at each other, their own subsystems giving them a life of their own.(20 Worker Drones awoken)

Next to awaken are your Eyes. Only a small handful are operational due to their fragile frames but those that do wake take to the sky easily. Their propellers chew through the smoke and take the heat of their new homes well. So long as they do not fly above the smoke layer above they seem to function properly. Their perspective gives you a new view of your home. A lava stream lazily flows just over a hundred yards away. Your Eyes soar around each other with uncontained energy. (5 Moble Scouts awoken)

Next come your fists. The Security Drones roar to life, pulling free from their bays and checking themselves with military efficiency. Once finished they stomp out to the edge of your platform on 4 sturdy legs, syncing with your Eyes and spreading themselves into a defensive formation. Each sports a single long pneumatic Spear-Thrower on one side and a crushing claw on the other. Their red scanners flicker around the base, hungry and alert. (10 Security Drones awoken)

Last comes your second mind. It requires the most power, more than all your Workers combine. Its eyes and mind sync with your own and in an instant it seizes control over your Workers. Its form is a lazy sphere held up by many spindly legs and topped with a huge spruce of detection and guidance arrays. (1 Command Drone awoken) (population cap raised +20)

Your power runs at its current limits as it reaches to last frames, unable to wake them. Youre unsure how much power theyd require or how much your systems are producing but youre sure theyre something important, dangerous. An Eye flies close to where theyre kept and you can see the twin doors locking them away. GUARDIAN is printed in bright yellow pain in front of each. (2 Elite Guardians sleeping)

You need to know more about where you are and you send your Eyes skyward. They fly in lazy patterns low over the rugged terrain, scanning and watching for anything of note. Some movement by the lava-flow draws the attention of one Drone and it drifts towards the molten river. A few scans reveal nothing spectacular of note. Disappointed the Drone flys away. Before it can leave the edge of the lava its vision is cut off. [TERMINATED] flashes in bright red where its unit number was before. Another Drone turns and keeps its eye on the river, scanning for signs of movement. Nothing but the slow flow of lava (-1 Mobile Scout Drone)

Meanwhile another Drone flys southwards, theres a steep drop off, scans confirm that the stone here is brittle and fragile but half way down the cliff-face it scans a thick, large deposit of iron. It will be difficult for your Workers to reach but once they do the materials will be quite abundant. (Large Iron vein located)

Resources are badly needed, your own storehouses are unknown to you at the moment so you send your Workers towards the Iron deposit. Their treads bite into the hard stone of your steeps and when they get close to the cliff they note with small amounts of alarm that the stone is caving beneath their weight. Still, you urge them onward and with the assistance of the Eyes they make good progress. Using their powerful vice arms they begin to tear away at the stone, down the Cliffside. Its slow work due to the dangers but they continue on with mechanical efficiency.

Meanwhile you expand your systems, feeling out your structures and generators. Youre delighted to find most systems undamaged save for your construction bay. Aside from that the only thing that takes you by surprise is the energy output from your generators. Theyre straining hard to keep your drones powered, and your backup power storage is running low.

Back at the cliff your workers reach the iron and begin to load themselves up. Once filled to capacity they make the return trip. One Drone sends out an alert to the others around it moments before the stone gives away under its new weight and it tumbles down the cliff and outside your control range. (-1 Worker) The others make the return trip without ceremony, the brittle ground behind them badly damaged. (+30 Iron)

You set your Workers to gather iron and begin the construction of a new Generator. Replicating the design from your other power sources they manage to cut the time to build it severely. Using their smaller tendrils they work tirelessly to do your bidding.

A blip and small alarm lights up your system, a Security Drone has spotted movement within its scanning range. A moment later 2 more Drones report the same. No visual can be found due to their lack of vision systems so your Eyes take to the sky. From above the movement is fairly easy to spot, it looks like several pieces of stone are moving around your compound. Another blip lights up and your Drones their Spears threateningly.

At your command your Security Drones gather together into a dense formation. Using their powerful legs they brace themselves on the edge of your platform. The Eyes link a live feed to the Security and in moments their lines of fire are cleared. In a single roaring burst of air they let their long spears fly. The lethal payload hurls into the moving stone and where they land, loud keening screams break out.

Seeming to have given up their attempt at ambush a large group of stone-encrusted crustaceans clatter forwards. A few sport the shafts of spears that struck their thick hides, steadily leaking bright red fluid down their shells. Their claws yawn wide as they charge your base. Your Security has time to lock in another set of spears and fire off a half charged volley. A few of the skittering beasts fall but several more reach your platform and begin to climb. Your Drones screech back, blaring alarms and raising their powerful claws high against this threat.

The stone crabs make impressive time up your bastion, powerful claws and reaching legs scrambling for purchase up the metal support struts. Up close your Eyes can make out more clearly their features. Hard obsidian-like mandibles glitter beneath beady, stalked eyes. Their carapace is a deep red, and where their blood leaks from cracked shells small clouds of steam speak of incredibly internal heat.

Your Security is undaunted. The front rank steps towards the edge and begins the process of crossing claw with claw. Their powerful metal vices crush chitin and crack shells as the crustaceans struggle to gain a foothold. The back rank drops a fresh brace of spears into place and begins to pressurize their lethal payload. Where a crab gains the platform it is met with fierce and disciplined spears and claws. Within minutes the last of the attackers drops from the platform, slapping dully on the wet stone below. Your Security raise their blood-slicked, steaming claws to the sky, blaring in triumph. A few of the scavengers flee towards the river, quickly scuttling across its drifts. Your Eyes note with some interest that while they all attempt to flee across, some vanish beneath the lava never to resurface.

Your security take some time to rip shells and chunks of chitin from the fallen crabs, decorating their plated frames in some ritual you cant find the protocol for.
