Your tribe arrives at a river valley. It's lush with the green of early spring and full of wild life. Having braved the harsh winter of the mountains your people have finally found a place that the might call their own. But even with their journey to this new land complete, their adventure is only just beginning.

What new challenges will this fledgling tribe face? What advancements will they make? Will history even recall them or will tales of their greatness echo through ages? Will you be a people of peace, at one with the earth? Will you become a nation forged by conquest?

Only time can tell.

You may still only have a few days of dried meat and fruit, but luckily this valley seems to be teeming with wildlife and the river teems with fish.

It's a wonder to some of the tribesmen that no one hasn't settled it already, but the valley is wide and long, who knows. Maybe there is another tribe making a living nearby.

Your tribe comes to a stop in a clearing near the river. A forest of fir, maple, ash, and white oak. A few deer peer at you from within the treeline before retreating deeper into the wood. Shall you pitch your hide tents here, or will you search elsewhere?

Your tribe leader Sorrok decides that you should move further north into the widening valley.

As you proceed north the trees begin to close in, their green limbs becoming like a blanket. You come to the shore of a great lake.

It's waters are clear, clean, and deep. Like the river it also teems with fish, verities of trout and salmon. On the far shore you see elk wading in the shallows, a few bear sit at the mouth of the lake and river catching fish.

Your tribe stop in near the lake edge where the trees are further apart but shelter you from wind and keep you hidden from the other side of the lake.

Brenna, your tribes wise woman tells everyone to gather together. She informs you that the spirits of this land are happy to have us here, but warns us not to mistreat the land, flora, or fauna.

Sorrok does a head count and finds that there are 36 tribe members. 27 men, 9 women, and 5 children.

The position of the sun tells you it is noon. What do you do with the rest of you day?
>>
How many members are in our tribe? Can we afford to send some out to hunt for food and/or fish?

Do the children know how to fish? If they do, then get them to fish for food, while the women prepare dinner and the men make basic weaponry. And I say we make a sweet Axe.

You task the children with spear fishing in the shallows, while the women tend to the camp, building a fire preparing for the nights meal. The men set about crafting axes, spears, knifes, arrows, and a few bows

As the day becomes night the children return to camp with their catch. After being cooked or dried, their is now 6 day worth of food available.

The men have prepared 7 bows(with plenty or arrows) 8 stone head axes, and 12 stone tipped spears.

The stars shine brightly overhead tonight as your people eat there simple meal of fish and berries.

As the night deepens Brenna steps forward. "Now that we have found our new home, we must hope our roots grow deep into this new land. In the way of our old gods, we must water the earth, and our roots, with blood. Does anyone volenteer to be the foundation in which we grow on?"

An elderly man steps forward. "I have few years left, but I have seen the deep ice come and go. I have seen lush meadows become nothing but sand. Let my life's blood, and my experience water this land, in the hopes that it will spring life eternal for our people and secure and anchor our future."

Brenna steps forward, the man kneels before her. She draws and obsidian knife, the old man closes his eyes. In a single quick movement she slashes the man's throat open.

The entire tribe bows their heads.

"With this blood may we our roots grow deep. With this sacrifice, we shed our past hardships, and forge forward. With the blood of our past we take a new name and shape a new future!"

69 decides our Tribes new name and move us to the next day.

Well if you look at other civs, you see that the choices takes years. But as soon as the civ reach modern age it goes 1 year by 1.
Here are some good choices to use.

>>Population: Men ??? Woman??? Children ???
>>Food production:???/10 How much food is being made
>>Food stockpiles:???/10 How much food is stored
>>Resources:???/10 Stuffs like wood, metals, stone
>>Morale:???/10 How happy your people are
>>Buildings: What was been build (Tents)
>>Economy: What do you use for wealth (Farming? Fishing?
>>Culture: You know what this means
>>Military: Some hunters Tell how strong is the military

Some Choices
>A.Food production & growth
>B.Culture & religion
>C.Construction
>D.Military
>E.Government & laws
>F.Exploration & colonization
>G.Research & development
>H.Other

If people see choice you'll get so much more people. Most people are lazy and can't write in what happens.
>>
>>364260
Right.

I trying to keep things simple, doing everything that was suggested unless it conflicted with others (which would cause a vote).

I was hoping to make it feel more like the natural development of a people and less like a turn based strategy game.

If the people wanted to explore then they'ed decide to explore some, if they wanted the kids to fish they go to the shallows to fish. If they wanted to make bronze weapon then the discover it in a natural way, through accidents and progression.
>>
>>364331
If that the case then explore the place we are living here
>>
Sorrok sends the children back down to the lake's shallows to spear fish whiles the women watch after them and collect berries and edible roots & tubers.

Sorrok sends a group of young hunters into the woods to seek out some of the elk or deer that they spotted yesterday. He also gather 5 of their best fighters and scouts to join him and exploring the area round them.

As the sun reaches a few hours after noon the children come back to the tents with their catch, the women come back to camp to begin drying and storing the fish and other foraged foods.

The hunters return from their hunt with 2 large deer and get to work drying and preserving the meat, setting aside the bones and antlers, perhaps someone will find a use for them.

>>Food stockpiles: days worth 9

Sorrok and his men return with news. In the east they spotted a small herd of horses, they seem to be heading to the river in the south.
While in the high hills they were able to see smoke rising many miles to the north.
The also returned with many unknown types of plants for Brenna to identify.

How will you spend your afternoon?

>Research
Have some people tie and make some long enough rope out of plants and other nature stuff. To be used against the horses.
>>
Sorrok decides it is time to start building more permanent shelters.

They dig about a dozen square holes 2 feet into the earth and use fallen branches and limbs from the many surrounding trees to create the frames of their new homes. The children collect reeds from the river and lake to form wicker walls, the women helping and teaching as they go along. The men cut fir boughs to roof the huts. They bind everything with strips of hide from the deer. To finish them off they use mud and clay from the river and lake and smear in against the outside of the walls, filling in cracks and forming a smooth surface.

The sun is already beginning to set before they finally finish the 12 homes. With this many homes they are able to live comfortable with 3 people per hut.

after the long day of work everyone is tired. They eat a simple, but hearty, meal of venison and serious root vegetables.

Brenna has spent the day finding the properties of the plants that Sorrok had brought her earlier. She has identified them as: Deadly Nightshade, Horse-chestnut, and Hemlock.

She sates that when combined they can be made in to a powerful poison that causes paralysis.

Before heading to sleep Brenna and Sorrok lead the Village in parry to the Old Gods.

During the night, one of the children leaves his hut to make water. From deep the the woods he sees a pair of yellow-gold eyes, he hears a deep growl. He freezes in terror, unable to move. The creature leaves the shadows, revealed to be older gray wolf. In it's mouth is a haunch of venison.

Uncontested it was able to slip into the village and pilfer it from the food stores, and now retreats into the deep wood. The boy runs back to his mother and wakes her to inform her of what he's seen. The next morning Sorrok examines the area around the food stores and find the tracks that the wolf left behind.

What shall your people do this morning.

Sorrok and his men start a fire and the mouth of the cave. Then you fir limbs to make a thick smoke that a breeze carries into the cave. The men with spears move to the flanks of the entrance and wait for anything to come running out. Those with bows stand above the the cave, waiting to loose their arrows into the backs of their prey.

After a few minuets the wolves come padding out, blinded by the smoke and unable to smell the danger ahead they walk right into an ambush. The bowmen quickly down 4 of the beast with arrows to the back of the skull, the remaining adults are put down with quick thrusts for spears from both sides.

Lastly 5 wolf pups stumble into the open. They seem to be about 7-8 weeks old. They huddle together whimpering, unsure of what to do.

The pups are put into a makeshift kennel.

The sentries summon Sorrok. He sees a great opportunity in this meeting and invites the ragged smith to stay in with them, stating that they'ed even build him his own home and smithy.

"Oh thank you sir, gods bless you." For the time being Fabron will stay in a spare tent and assist in regular labor (tending fish baskets, cutting fire wood. etc)

In the fish baskets are checked and harvested, the garden is watered, and the children and the wolf pups scamper about the village. Everyone enjoys their morning meal, is introduced to Fabron, and makes plans for the day.

For the morning let work on a smithy and try to finish training the wolfboys.
>>
Sorrok and your best hunters spend the day teaching the boys, now young men, how to track and identify animal prints. They teach them the ways of the spear and the bow, and how to move without making a sound or bending a blade of grass. The boys teach the wolfs to track scents and to attack on command. They are now ready to go on hunts and exploration missions

The rest of the village follows Fabron in cutting down the trees needed for what he calls "a proper log cabin". He tell you that we'll need better tools to finish it.

As the noon sun rises, the village finishes harvesting the trees needed for the blacksmith's cabin. Sorrok is reminded that they can return to the norther village to meet with their leader. Brenna suggest that you take some bone and tooth jewelry as a gift and symbol of peace as well as the fine wolf pelts, "Perhaps someone will be interested in trading for them" she says.

Meanwhile the Wolf Rangers (The young boys who raised and trained the wolf pup and were trained as rangers) Head out on their first hunt.

The Rangers successfully track and bring down 2 large elk. They're brought back and butchered, the hide and bones cleaned, and antlers kept for future sale.

Sorrok and his party arrive back at the village to the north's gate where they find the young sentry from the other day.

Sentry-"Hello again sir Sorrok, welcome back to Orilon. Othmar is expecting you, I'll escort you to him. OH! My name is Symon by the way."
Sorrok-"Lead the way"
You follow Symon through the gates down a hard packed dirt road, each side flanked by squat timber and mud brick hovels with thatched roofs. The villagers eye Sorrok and his party with looks of bemusement, as they look quite out if place with their hides and furs compared to their wool tunics, trousers, and leather shoes.
Symon leads you to a 2-story building of the same construction as the other.
Symon-"Ho, Othmar the men from Lakeside are here to meet you." He shouts up to a cutout window framed in wood.
A man, presumably Othmar sticks his head out and beckons you in. Symon shows you in and seats you at a table as Othmar climbs down a ladder.
Othmar-"Hello, My name Othmar Smithson and I am pleased to meet you. I'm told you have come seeking trade and perhaps even friends."

Sorrok pulls from a pouch a beautifully carved necklace made from wolf's bone. "As one leader to another, and for showing us hospitality, I give you this gift. It may not be much, but I hope you except this token."
Othmar gingerly take the necklace, "My word, it's beautiful. I humbly except this gift, my wife will love this." He reaches behind him places on the table a well made looking dagger of bronze and leather, along with a leather belt sheath.
Sorrok examine the blade, it looks as though it was made just yesterday and sharp as a razor. He bows his head, "My thanks for this. As for trade goods..." Sorrok and his men arrange the fine wolf pelts and bone jewelry on the table.
Othmar's eyes widen, "Wolf pelts? These marking look similar to the one that had been stealing our sheep in the night. You have unknowingly done us a great service. Before bringing them behind the walls these beasts had killed 12 sheep and 2 grown men. There was evem a bounty on them." You make your way back to Lakeside in good time. Brenna is there to greet you. You tell her the meeting went well and about the making of textiles. She is pleased with the news.

The village gets to the work of finishing the blacksmiths shop. They clear trees and stumps, and dig the foundation. Then set about sawing and carving the log to join together. The Smithy is about a quarter of the way done.

While the building continues Sorrok, Fabron, and half a dozen others go out in search of valuable ore deposits. While exploring the mountain sides to the east the party comes across the entrance to a cave that seems to lead deep into the mountain side.

Inside the it is quite dark, almost too dark to see. Fabron fumbles around in the dark and picks up what looks like an ordinary rock, but open closer examination exclaims that they've come across an incredibly rich iron deposit.

They take the iron node and return to the village with their find. Fabron explains that once the forge is ready he'd be able to craft simple iron tools and weapon that would rival that of the bronze used by Orilon.

As it stands it would be too tedious to mine the cave due to it's distance. If you had some form of transportation then it would make the cave a viable mining site.

Fabron-"I am a weapon smith master Sorrok. You need a blade or ax I'm your man, nails, horse shoes, and tools I can do just fine. I'll even hammer out sheets to layer your shield with, But wood and I, for whatever reason, don't get along and plate metal shields are much too heavy to wield." Sorrok-"Get to it"

(Your infantry will now be equipped with wicker shields.)

That night, a sentry returning to his home from duty sees a dark shape gliding across the lake north towards the direction of Orilon. The gate where they'd entered the not long ago lay smashed open, the gate house still smoking. Pillars of black smoke rose from behind the walls, crows and buzzards circled overhead. As the band of Lakesiders approach the open gates they can see the bodies of men slumped against them and hanging over the battlements. The bodies of dead guards and elderly men dot the main village road. Your men say silent parrys over the dead and go about replacing their stone tipped spears with the Orilon bronze spears that remained unbroken. Your bowmen replace their crude bows and arrows, belting on quivers and long daggers to their waists. They proceed down the road towards the village center past the smouldering remains of homes. In the open market center of town, it seems is where the Orilon had organized their defence. Overturned carts blocked several of the paths and the bodies of many Orilon guards litter the square, still grasping their spears and short swords. The right a few of the more intact carts and load them with undamaged weapons and pieces of leather armor.
Sorrok takes 5 men and heads towards the direction of Othmar’s home to see if the Orilon mayor is still alive. Sorrok was hoping to find out what had happened in this place.
He and his men arrive at was used to be the Mayor of Orilon’s 2-story home. All that remained were the charred black ruins. Othmar’s own head was nailed to one of the corner posts. A groan emanated from a nearby bush. Off to the side was Symon’s supine unconscious form. He had a gash above his left eye, various cuts on his forearms and legs, and a slash across his chest. Despite the grim scene all his wounds were too shallow to be life threatening, but he would need them cleaned, stitched, and bandaged soon.
Your men carry Symon back to the others, 12 more survivors had shown up by then. Talking about how they’ed come in the night, landed from the lake, tore right through the defenders burning and pillaging as they went. They’ed taken women and children prisoner back to their boat, and as swift as they came, they were gone. Sorrok went over to the body of one of the raiders, he had an ax in his had, it’s head a dull gray metal. He wore a black linen tunic over an iron hauberk with and a wool shirt beneath it. Dark gray pants and heavy leather boots on his legs and feet. He had a thick dark beard with hair to match and blue eyes.
The survivors load up whatever belongs that had not been lost in the fires in their own carts. Bolts of wool and linen, bags of grain, barrels of water, etc. The people from Orilon and Lakeside reach the main gate.

(Wall upgrades ⅕ complete)

Lyle’s experience with building and woodworking allows the village to work on 2 construction projects at the same time.
