City Ruins? Alright.
You rose from the grave a long time ago, one that you hardly even remember. Since then, you've learned to avoid the settlements of paranoid humans, as they are quick to slaughter your kin and burn them to dust.
You've become a lord of smaller undead, as you've been alive longer than most of them, and they recognize you as their king for it. You walk up to the abandoned crypt four Necromancers have agreed to increase your power. But how?

Lich it is, then. Let's get this party started

The Crypt explodes in powerful necrotic energy, as the four necromancers channel not only their power, but their entire life forces into you. Dozens of loose spirits, claimed by the Necromancers, fly around freely, before being sucked into your chest. Your eyes glow blue, and you feel a powerful gust of cold, frigid breath. Not a single child shall be born this night, as a Lich has been born. Your minions bow before your awesome form, and await your command. You order them to march, to a nearby City, recently destroyed by a long gone invading army. Dozens of corpses populate the streets, though they could be raised en masse later. After about a whole day, you set up in the city.
Your civilization has 400 Zombies, and 300 Skeletons.
What do you do?

You spend many days, casting necromantic spells on undead, and the fresh corpses within the city. After two full weeks, the best result is a new strain of undead of Ghouls have been created.

Ghouls are much stronger than regular zombies, and serve much better for combat.
Your Civilization now has 400 zombies, 300 Skeletons, and 200 Ghouls.

You order your minions to fortify the city. What resource should they prioritize?
>Debris, around the city(Very Quick to set up)
>Wood(Provides more fortification, but will take more time)
>Stone(The Nearby Quarry is full of mineable stone, but being heavy, it will take a long time to set up)
>>
>>314497

Stone, even though it will take a long time. We'll have a tough enough set up for fortifications
>>
>>314497
>Stone(The Nearby Quarry is full of mineable stone, but being heavy, it will take a long time to set up)
Not like were in rush. Let's take this so when we inevitably go out exploring we have a stable fortress to retreat back in to
>>
>>314497
Should we go wood or go all in with stone?
>>
>>314497
Stone, no one else seems to know we're here so no rush
>>
>>314510
>>314504
>>314512
Yeah, lets go
>Stone
>>
Your minions head out to the nearby stone quarry. They mine it dry, (Dry being up until the point where they were attacked by Insects.) and spend a week fortifying the walls. At the end of their labors, the city's walls are completely blocked.
In the time that passed, your sentries spotted a group of travelling humans, that set up camp just last night, in the forest. They seem to be unaware of the recently inhabited city, like fruit right for the picking.
You have 300 Zombies, 250 Skeletons, and 200 Ghouls
>Attack the Human Camp

Spy. Maybe later we can use some minions to clean up the stagnant water/insect infestations.
>>
You order your scouts to keep a close eye on the humans, but not to engage them. A group of 20 of them is heading straight to the city, visibly armed. Your army hides, in dark allyway's and abandoned homes. The humans don't appear to know exactly that the city is "inhabited". They poke around at the fresh corpses, wander a bit, and reconvene at the city entrance.
>Attack the explorers
>Attack the camp

We should show kindness to these Humans. Dpending on what we can find out about them and where they came from.

Detach a party of 20 gouls and 10 skellingtons to bring them to the Lich, assuming they can speak. If they can't speak, send the Lich along with them to make contact with the Humans. They could be looking for survivors.

>>
>>314627
If we eradicate them save for one to interrogate, we can find out that much without letting others know of our existence
>>
>>314635
I definitely agree for the need for secrecy. But if we can make a friend, that would be much better than the enmity of an entire town, or perhaps a civilization.

>>314627
>>314602
>>314597

Let's talk to these fleshbags.
>>
>>314656
Undead are pretty much known as beings who despise the living and are treated with hostility.
There's no point being diplomatic here
>>
>>314661
Yeah, typically, they are known for that. But we don't HAVE to kidnap or kill every party of Humans we encounter. If it doesn't work out, we will kill the Humans and raise them as our undead slaves.

There IS a point in diplomacy. It's called being diplomatic.
>>
>>314597
>>314602
>>314605
You call a group of 20 Skeletons to your side, guiding you to the humans. You introduce yourself as a Lich, and that the city had been dead before you arrived. The apparent leader of the group loudly proclaims he doesn't believe you, and orders his men to attack. Your skeletons slay about 14 of them, before they are all defeated into rubble of bone. The surviving 6 charge towards you. How do you defend yourself?
>Summon a barrier in front of yourself
>Blast them away with a Moonbeam
>Drain all of their souls
>Raise the corpses around you
>>
>>314671
OP, we asked for a party of 20 ghouls and 10 skellies.
>>
>>314661
And we need to shatter the stereotype.

Attempt to negotiate!

>>314686
Vote for raising corpses. Don't let them touch our beautiful Lich.
>>
>>314691
It's already at the point of no return, if you let them leave they will come back with a larger force
That sounds awfully cute senpai
>>
>>314695
We'll put a "no humans allowed" sign out front.

It's just crazy enough to work.

But these guys DID attack us first. I say that if it's unavoidable, we clobber them, and if anyone asks, they never made it to town.
>>
>>314700
All we really want is to kill all the insects. And elves. Humans are okay.
>>
>>314703
Let's reuse the corpses and dump it in the forest far away from town. Make it look like a monster attacked them
>>
>>314671
Raise the corpses
>>
>>314671
>Drain all of their souls
>>
>>314709
Yeah, I could go for that. We can always hope that the next group to find us is more reasonable.

But if this isn't the case, I say we dig a moat around the city. There's a reason they were so popular. No heavily armored human is going to want to swim to us.
>>
>>314686
>>314692
>>314691
A cold, light-blue barrier forms in front of you, just barely deflecting the first human's strike. His sword flies from his hand, and he is launched back four feet. Meanwhile, you reanimate the fallen humans, who quickly overwhelm their living brethren. The entire exploration party has been killed, and their camp still sits outside your city, mostly composed of women and children. Any men inside of the camp are either wounded, or appear to be sick.
>Spook the camp
>Kill the camp

>>
>>314724

>>
>>314736
That we do. I've an idea to take the children from their mothers and raise them to worship the Lich and work for him as spies/assassins. Then we've got an in with Humans.

The mothers, we can work our unholy magic on and see if we can breed some kind of abomination.

You send your scouts to investigate the Haunted Forest. They do not return. You send a unit of 100 Skeletons, and only 46 return. They report that the forest was inhabited by a rare breed of Dryad, apparently twisted by the Spirits in the forest. They tried to find the source of your ghosts, but were forced to retreat once their numbers dipped below 50.
Back at the capital, 5 Human Prisoners have escaped.

You order your personal guard of Strigoii(Pic related), to follow you, and negotiate in person with the Haunted Dryad's. The five Strigoii you have are the only real defense you need, as they are the undead equivalent of monks. Once you walk into the forest, the dryad's fall from the tree's, and "Capture" you. They lead you into the center of the forest, where a giant leafless tree has white markings glow on it's bark. The tree telepathically communicates with you.
"You... have many Souls... Give... Me your Souls..."
Obviously, giving the tree your souls would kill you.

You place your hand against the tree. You feel it ease itself, but you instantly begin to drain the souls from it, and it tenses, but it's too late. You've already established the link. The Dryad's shriek in retaliation as they draw spears and charge at you, but your personal guard is more than enough to keep them at bay while you absorb souls. As moments pass, you feel yourself grow tenfold in power. So much power. Just as the hundreds, if not thousands of Dryad's appear from the outer reaches of the forest, you unleash the terrible might within you. A wave of Lich magic blasts out from your form, killing all of the Dryad's and absorbing even more souls into your form.
In the carnage before your outburst, two of your three Strigoii have been overwhelmed. Sadly, they cannot be revived, as they were born alive and dead at the same time.
Two small groups of Dryad's still remain, survivors of your wrath. One group is huddled together, holding their spears against you, still willing to attempt avenging their tree in vain. Another you can barely see running away.
The excess power is fleeting, make a choice for each prompt
>Destroy the Haunted Dryad's pointing spears at you
>Capture the Haunted Dryad's pointing spears at you
>Offer the Haunted Dryad's pointing spears at you to join you

And what about those fleeing?

You nod towards the remaining Strigoii. They sprint after the escaping Dryad's. They will not escape.
You tell the other Dryad's to stand down, join you, and no harm shall come of the other group. They reluctantly accept.
You return home, with a small handful of Dryad's.
While you were gone, your city was attacked by the town of Humans, though the attackers were destroyed. A single human has been taken alive, and is held prisoner. 10 more prisoners have escaped.
By absorbing all the souls in the Haunted Tree, you now have fully Mastered Spirit Magic
You have 300 zombies, 250 skeletons, 150 ghouls, 50 humans(12 Brainwashed, 39 Prisoners) 50 Haunted Dryad's, and 3 Strigoii.

You exhaust more of your resources to create ghosts. By sacrificing a good 20 of your Haunted Dryad's, you make a battalion of 40 ghosts. You send the ghosts to spy on both Human and Insects. The Humans are in a normal plains, unlike your lifeless city. It has a decent defense, and would prove a major loss to forces if you attempt to conquer it now. The Insects, on the other hand, are deep in the quarry, and appear to be another rare strain, this one appearing to be spiderlike. Goblins, on the other hand, are in one large tribe, highly aggressive, and kill anything that enters their territory.

Spend some turn too research Frost,Lich, any other unholy/evil magic.

Research mining and blacksmithing too create better armor and weapon.

Research the art/skill too imbue armor and weapon with magic or enchanment.

What we need right now first and foremost is to somehow create necromancers that will raise the dead for us.
Helps alot instead of wasting a turn to raise some mob undead like skellies and zombies, we can just have a fixed income of them per turn.
We can also use lesser undead as a sort of currency when creating stronger undead. Think of undead as a gathering of negative energy and we can pool some together to create a superior single unit.

Maybe we can train necromancer after researching lich magic.

For Death knight maybe we can raid / completely destroy the human town after we are strong enough of course and raise their best soldier/general as death knight candidate.

Can we try having some of our brainwashed humans train in necromancy?
>>
>>320826
Assuming lich magic include some necromancy skill, maybe we can train some human prisoner too necromancer or undead necromancer also works
>>
>>320854
I won't trust humans unless they're doing it willingly or are brainwashed
>>
>>320857
Ofcourse we are using the brainwashed one

You interrogate the Captured Soldier. He reveals that the town sent the militia because your people are monsters, and must be destroyed before they overwhelm the world.
>Kill him, and raise him as an Undead
>Kill him, and feed his corpse to the Strigoii
>Experiment on him

You keep him alive, for weeks of experimentation. After his mind is beaten into a pulp, his resistance stops. Your brainwashed humans continue experimentation from there. At one point, they bring you a full list of possible forms.

You make the human a Death Knight, infusing him with necromantic energy, and Lich Magic. You give him armor used from the souls absorbed from the Dryad Tree, mount him on a steed, and give him a new name: Sarjarn Icerend.
The week you spent giving the captured soldier a new life, two massive Cyclops, herding a horde of cows, and have set up outside the city walls. One Cyclops is a bit smaller, and appears easily distracted by small things.
You have 1 Lich(You), and 1 Death Knight
You have 300 Zombies, 250 Skeletons, 150 Ghouls, 50 Humans, 50 Haunted Dryad's, and 3 Strigoii.
