Kirby decided that sparring with his good friend Knuckle Joe would be fun, so he put on his headband and set out to find Joe. Kirby eventually ran into Knuckle Joe as he was resting from a workout, Knuckle Joe smiled at Kirby and set up another punching bag, as he had torn through the last one with an intense flurry of punches. The two began to train...

Eventually, Kirby became tired and hungry. Joe also seemed reasonably hungry so he offered to assist Kirby in locating food. There were several choices for places to go scavenging for food, for example:

>King Dedede's castle has quite the selection, although Kirby would probably be stealing if Dedede wasn't in.

>Green Greens has an abundance of apples, however the large tree known as Whispy Woods may not appreciate Kirby's presence.

Kirby and Knuckle Joe finally decided on visiting Green Greens, agreeing that Whispy wouldn't be too much of a problem if they worked together to pacify the large tree.

Kirby and Joe began collecting apples once inside of the woods until they heard an unusual sound, it sounded similar to an explosion only without any sort of shockwave or quake following the blast. Joe informed Kirby that he'd like to check on the source of the sound, adding that the source may be a great threat to Dream Land. Kirby was a bit curious too, would he:

>Investigate the source of the sound with Joe.

>Look for a nearby friend to assist him and Joe in their investigation before checking out the sound.

Kirby decided that going with Joe to investigate the sound would be the best course of action, so they went together to find the source of the sound. On the way over, the two ran into several disgruntled Dream Land residents of whom they promptly disposed of. When the two friends arrived to the source of the sound, they were shocked. It seemed as though Whispy Woods had been turned into an evil monster by some strange force, its one eye intimidated Kirby. Would Kirby:

>Fight the corrupted Whispy alongside Knuckle Joe.

>Seek out help to defeat the monster.

Kirby steeled himself (not literally, he'd have to absorb a certain kind of enemy to do that) and nodded to Knuckle Joe, signaling that he was ready to fight. The evil-looking Whispy shot a few beamlike projectiles from its eye, which Kirby and his friend dodged with ease. Knuckle Joe delivered a heavy uppercut, shaking the tree and doing a significant amount of visible damage. A few apples fell to the floor, but unlike the reddish apples scattered across Dream Land, these apples were a solid green. Kirby realized that he was still feeling a bit hungry, he began to whether he should:

>Take a break and eat a few of the apples, allowing Knuckle Joe to fend for himself for a bit.

>Use the apples as projectiles against the tree.

>Ignore the apples and continue fighting by Joe's side.

Figuring that this boss would probably go down just as easily as its uncorrupted counterpart if he spat a few apples at it, Kirby sucked the green apple into his mouth. However, the second that it went into his mouth, it began to hurt Kirby! He spat it out quickly, getting a hit in on the tree. It seemed as though the apples were not safe to suck up or eat, this disappointed Kirby. Fortunately, he could still use the lasers shot by the evil tree against it and made short work of the boss alongside Joe. A dark force exited the tree and Whispy Woods was back to normal! However, the force flew off into the distance, leaving Kirby to wonder what to do next. Kirby could:

>Chase the darkness and defeat it, preventing further problems in Dream Land for now.

>Look for another friend to help him hunt down this enemy.

Kirby decided to find another friend to assist him in chasing down the darkness, Knuckle Joe agreed that it would be beneficial to both of them if they teamed up with another friend in order to combat the darkness. But who would they look for?

Kirby and Joe decided on visiting Kirby's old friend Adeline, she was doodling a maxim tomato on an easel-mounted canvas. Once informed about the threat, Adeline agreed to help immediately. From what Joe recalled, the darkness had fled towards King Dedede's castle. What would Kirby do now?

And so, Kirby and friends searched for Bandana Dee. They finally located him sleeping near Dedede's castle, apparently he was unaware of the dark mass that flew near the area. Upon being informed of the threat, Bandana Dee summoned some inner strength and dashed towards the castle. Kirby and friends followed suit, however, there seemed to be something off about the castle...maybe Kirby could take:

>A more cautious route into the castle through the back, it would take longer, but cause less of a disturbance.

>A more direct route from the front, it would be much quicker, but Kirby would have to fight several opponents.

>A route straight through the roof, this would hurt Kirby.

Knowing that he could easily dispose of the majority of Dedede's forces, Kirby ran straight into the castle alongside Bandana Dee. Kirby and his friends stormed into the castle, only to find that most of Dedede's forces had been taken care of for them. A few of the enemies who hadn't been knocked out by the attack seemed to have been corrupted by the same force that took over Whispy Woods, Bandana Dee and Knuckle Joe dealt with them handily.

Eventually, the group made it inside of Dedede's throne room, only to find the king corrupted alongside two waddle doo. Would Kirby:

Kirby figured that just talking to Dedede would work out, since he's never actually tried it before. As he attempted to talk(?) sense into Dedede, the corrupted king slowly stood up and walked towards Kirby, stopping in front of him. Thinking that his words had worked, Kirby gave Dedede a big hug...

Kirby shrugged and told his friends to assist him in beating Dedede. With their help, Kirby took down the disturbing penguin beast and his corrupted sidekicks with very little effort. Just like with Whispy, the dark energy left his enemies' bodies and traveled to another part of Dream Land, breaking through Dedede's roof in the process.

Kirby decided that attempting to locate his friend Susie and having her equip him with a robot would probably be a good idea, so he gathered up his friends in an attempt to find her. When he and his friends finally arrived at the factory in which Susie was working, Kirby noticed almost immediately that something was wrong. A pair of monsters who had taken up shelter in the factory were angrily moping about outside; from what they said, it seemed as though the strange energy had broken into the factory and turned a few of the inhabitants hostile. Would Kirby:

Deciding that it would be best to avoid the monsters, Kirby told his friends to assist him with sneaking into the factory. Just like he assumed, the factory was crawling with corrupted monsters. Kirby and his friends easily made it through the vents of the facility and into the room where Susie resided. Fortunately, Susie hadn't been consumed by the strange things, but she was surrounded by monsters and a robot that were all corrupted by the dark being. Kirby had to help her out, but how?

Kirby just kind of figured that he'd do what he does best: suck up the baddies. Hopping out of the vent, Kirby started sucking like a super-powered vacuum cleaner. These monsters didn't taste very good though, so Kirby swallowed them quickly. Fortunately, there was no adverse effects to swallowing those enemies. Bandana Dee, Knuckle Joe, and Adeline took care of the rest of the enemies except for the corrupted robobot in the room. Kirby had a choice here.
