Scenario Five wasn’t supposed to happen. The Sovereign Colonies had taken every precaution with this expedition. They had double-checked and triple-checked containment procedures - nothing could get off this icy wasteland of a planet. But as you reread the message in the cold light of your RIG, reality starts to sink in.

Two weeks ago, you were transferred from your team to a skeleton security crew. Your orders were to oversee the protection of the Macready deep-research station and its personnel: Doctor Caiden and his two assistants, Mahad and Eliza. You’ve been isolated from the rest of the Tau Volantis excavation projects, but maybe that was for the better.
You know this much: something has happened at the Colony Dig Site. The radio-waves have gone dead silent, and nobody is responding to hails. Before today, you’d heard rumors of soldiers on their patrols turning up dead, and their casks sent back up to the orbiting flotilla for cremation. No explanation ever came then, other than regular bullshit about Tau Volantis' harsh environment. But this is different; this is real. Scenario Five is reserved for the unthinkable: a complete biological contamination of the Tau Volantis expedition.
You run down the hall to the locker rooms. You're going to need your Suit and weapon. But first, you need to open the locker door with your name on it.
Are you male (Corporal Sam Ackerman) or female (Specialist Barbara Langley)?

You are Cpl Ackerman, and since Scenario Five has been declared, you have charge of Macready Station. You open your locker and pull on your fatigues. The Suit Assembly is at the end of the room, and when you climb into it, it latches onto your limbs. A menu appears from your RIG, displaying your Suit options. Better pick carefully - you probably won't have the time to use the machine again.
Environmental Suit: Heavy protection from the raging blizzards on Tau Volantis. You will altogether move slower and be bulkier, but you'll rarely have to take shelter from the storms.
Thermal Suit: Average protection from the elements. You will have to seek shelter quickly if a storm rolls through, but you're only slightly encumbered. Punctures will effectively ruin the suit.
Security Suit: Hardly any protection from the elements. You cannot be outside for long, and being caught in a blizzard will mean certain death. The suit is thin, and as a result you can move freely.
While you're at it, might as well grab something from the arms locker.
Pulse Rifle: Fires quick bursts of heated plasma. Accurate and powerful. Completely unwieldy in tight spaces.
Bolt Gun: One-shot, fires metal bolts. Low range, but versatile in a pinch. Can pin things to walls and floors.
Blowtorch: They don't call it Macready Station for nothing. Highly intimidating weapon, but burns fuel quickly.
