In the distant future, mankind has begun exploration of the stars. On that journey, they met with multiple forms of alien life, some sentient, others not. With nearly little to no bloodshed, a coalition government was formed with the more advanced races. They promised a future of peace, prosperity, and harmony for the entire Galaxy.

The truth, however, is far from glamorous. Megacorporations have the coalition in their pocket, and criminal organizations run the streets. These megacorps have begun research of their own into various sections of science. Some specialize in weapons, others in medical and life sciences. While all of them are polite and cordial in the public eye, there is a deadly game of cat and mouse between each and every corporation. Sabotage, assassinations, and outright sieges on research stations are all to common occurrences in life in 2297.

One of the most powerful and influential corporations, Arclight Industries, has finally finished the construction of one of the larger research stations in the Tau Ceti system. A station solely built to research the super element known as Dilinium. What is known of the element is that is highly volatile, an excellent fuel source, and a very powerful explosive. Arclight has cut corners with this station, and safety systems are lax. Already, the station has had four fatal accidents, all covered up by the corporations very influential media division. Communication with the Borealis station is only capable through hyperspace buoys, which can be accessed in secure areas of the station.

----

The lights on the Borealis flickered, likely a result of some wing of the station taking more power than it deserved. A figure groaned as they slipped from their cot, placing their feet on the cold, metal floor. The figure stood, moving over to the mirror, and looked into it.

They saw..

> A normal, human face.

> A reptilian, scaly face with long frontal fangs.

> A feline face, with an elongated face. Resembling either a cat or fox.

> A robotic face, with a single visor stretching across the front.

The Teklotl.

The figure runs his clawed fingers over the scaly skin covering his body. It acted like a natural armor, but there were still scars and old wounds that covered his body. Oh well, no time for memoriams right now. He had to get to work on time, else he might risk being fired. The reptile walked himself over to the footlocker at the end of his cot, and opened the lid.

Inside was..

> A red uniform, with kevlar coated padding. Security.

> A yellow uniform, with thick stitching used to protect against heat. Engineering.

> A white uniform, with nitrile gloves specially made for a Teklotl. Medical.

> A purple uniform, with large, yellow rubber gloves. Janitorial.

> Civilian Clothing. A civilian job (Another vote required.)

> A blue uniform. The blue military fatigues of command.

---

'The Teklotl were a populous race of battle-hardened warriors, until they were introduced to atomic fire. Now their population can barely fill a cruise ship.' -Admiral Einwald MacDonald, Sol Navy.

Teyatzal slid the jumpsuit on, but it had been modified to fit his unusual size. The upper body had been cut off, allowing his rippling chest and upper body muscles to shine freely in the artificial light of the station. He slid the kevlar padding over top of this, making him look more like an ancient tribal warrior, than security for an advanced research station. Teyatzal, however, was not bothered by this. This meant that most people wouldn't bother him, and he preferred it that way. The common language spoke by most was strange and alien for his throat to speak, so he communicated mostly in grunts and various noises.

His uniform on, he slid his ID card onto the wall, and a compartment opened. A single handgun was pushed forward on a stand. The Verpine Industries Mk. 4 Multi-Use Security System. Most called it the Vorpal Gun, for short. It had multiple firing states, stun rounds, lethal rounds, high-explosive, or incendiary. Although, this version had been modified to only use stun rounds unless authorized by the Central Computer System in the Bridge.

He stepped out of his dormitory, and locked the door behind him with a simple swipe of his ID card.

Tey sighs, a low grumble, heading to the Security Wing. The Texlotl moved slowly, his legs not built for anything other than sprinting at high speeds, and a slow walk. He entered the Security Wing. He wasn't the first one there, as there were a few others from his shift that had also managed to clock-in slightly early.

Behind the desk was Samwell DeWitt. He was one of the newer officers, fresh out of the academy. It had been a few weeks since he started, but that enthusiastic look had never really left his face. A human with ginger hair, and optimistic green eyes. Tey almost felt sorry for him. Eventually, this job would cause him to lose all happiness.

Leaning against the wall was the stations detective, Kihir S'raha. One of those Ca'Liar. The felines. He was one of the more modern ones. Had been a detective on their home planet for about twenty years before being forced into retirement. An Arclight Rep met him at a bar, and offered him a job. He was a good sort, if a little quiet. Tey preferred it that way. They got along.

The last was Amber Dickinson. She was the Warden. Out of all the Humans onboard, Amber scared Tey the most. She was an ex-military type. From what Tey could gather, all of her records of her military service were blacktaped out of existence. The woman always had this look in her eye. That thousand-yard stare. She kept whatever ruffians Security threw into the brig in check. Tey generally avoided speaking with her, if at all possible.
Once he was clocked in, he started on his patrol route. He was going to head to the Medical Bay to get his flirt on if it killed him. However, something was off. Once he left the Security Lobby, he saw the Commander of the Security Forces running down the hall, seeming stressed. He shook it off, and took it as something above his paygrade. That little incident made him re-think his decision on skirting his job.

> Continue on patrol, not flirting with the cute nurses.

> Head to the Medical Bay anyway, fuck it.

> Follow the Commander, and see if it's something Tey should be worried about.

> Write-In?

---

'It's odd to think how much of an impact human culture has made on the Ca'Liar. Within years of us making contact, a full fascist revolution overturned their democratically elected government. The war crimes committed by both sides rivals that of our own history. It's a little frightening.' -Professor Alan Watts, University of Mars.

Tey rushes after the Commander, his sudden sprint down the hallway worrying the Texlotl. He was quick to catch the man. He was.. in all accounts, a hardened man. He turned down the option for a bionic eye, favoring a special eyepatch that held the same functionality. Tey quickly asked. "Sir, what's the problem?" The Commander turned, his nameplate emblazoned brightly on the front of his overcoat. Robert Dalton, Head of Security. "Teyatzal. I won't lie to you. Shit is about to hit the fan sideways. We're moving to Blue Alert." He stated, a low gravelly voice.

Roughly at about the same time he said this, an explosion rocked the station. The lights flickered, and then went out. Dim, auxiliary lights lit the hallways. "Fuck. Alright, listen. We're under attack. Armed Mercenaries. We have no idea why they're here, but they're armed to the teeth. Mil-spec grade armor and equipment. Get to the Armory, gear up."

Tey nods, not one to hesitate when following an order, and sprinted off back towards the Security Wing. He made it back just in time to see Amber sliding the doors open on the Armory.

What weapon does Tey grab?

> A high-powered rifle. Single-shot use, before needing a long recharge time.

> A riot baton, with a ballistic shield. It's said to be able to withstand shots from high-powered weaponry for extended periods of time.

> An assault rifle. The same model as the standard-issue handgun, but on a larger and faster scale.

> Shotgun. The classic pump-and-shoot. It fires ballistic rounds. Ineffective against specially designed armor, but can punch a hole right through most EVA suits.

Tey grabs the shotgun from the rack, giving it a dramatic pump. Shell by shell, he begins to load it into the shotgun. It holds 15 shells, Tey with a bandolier can hold 30. That's 45 rounds total. Tey's pistol has unlimited ammo, but must take time to recharge. The different modes of the pistol use the saved up energy differently. As an addition to this, Tey also has a ritual combat knife used in religious ceremonies, but has an edge sharp enough to cut through flesh.

Shotgun - 15/45
Pistol - Different fire modes have different outcomes.

Stun must recharge after 15 shots.
Lethal must recharge after 10 shots.
Incendiary must recharge after 5 shots.
HE must recharge after 1 shot.

Tey looks to the others as they arm up. Amber takes the high-powered rifle, Kihir sticks to his revolver, but Samwell surprised you. That kid was toting two Assault Rifles. One slung over his back, the other in his hands. Regarding the kid for just a moment longer, you hear the Commanders voice over your headset.

"Pair up. Tey, I want you with Amber. Kihir, you're with the kid. Tey and Amber, I want you to secure the AI Upload, and link up with the Research Director, he'll give you orders from there. Kihir and Samwell, you're going EVA to secure the Telecommunications Satellite. Get to it."

Tey watches as Kihir and Samwell rush off, Amber looks to you with a curious look, before racking the bolt on her rifle and giving you a small smile. She's going to let you take the lead.

> Head straight there, no detours.

Tey and Amber rush through the corridors. The alarm has sounded, and most employees are rushing to the safe zones. It's a surprise to Tey that Amber can actually keep up with him, but he continues his speed nonetheless. As they round the corner, they see a woman in a blue labcoat. A cigarette lit in her mouth, and a look of boredom on her face.

"I assume you two are the thugs that Dalton sent?" She asks, the eyeroll almost being heard through her tone. Tey gives a grunt of affirmation and Amber rushes to the other side to lock down the small corridor. The woman slides her ID against the door, and it opens. "Wait here, once I'm done here, we're headed for the R&D wing." She heads inside and the door locks behind her.

Tey turns and aims his shotgun down the opposite hallway. Another explosion rocks the station, and this time, you hear a static click in your headset, before the line goes dead completely. That can only mean one thing.

The T-Comms satellite is disabled.

Tey quickly informs Amber as to the plan, and rushes off down the hallway. They are completely empty now, and it's quite eerie. Tey takes his time, shotgun up and aimed down the hallway. His hearing isn't the best, but his sense of smell is keen and will give away any changes in air pressure nearby.

As Tey circles a corner, he see's a suit he hasn't seen before. A large figure in a red, armored suit. The figure holds some sort of rifle, but it's hard to tell the make from this distance. The figure is facing away from you, and there's blood on the floor in front of him. The Tool Closet is on the other side of him.

You tried.

Tey began his rush down the hallway, shotgun in hand. His warrior instincts kicked in before he could make a rational decision, and a warcry was let loose from his lips. The figure turned, and before Tey could react, let loose a flurry of fire into the gut of the Texlotl. Stun rounds. A shocking pain that shut down all muscle control ripped through Tey's body, but his momentum kept him flying. He collided with the armored figure, sending them both to the ground.

The figure seemed to shout something, but Tey's hearing was damaged due to a ringing in his ears. As he looked up, he could see the figure aiming a finishing shot, before a blue bolt ripped through his center, tearing him quite literally in half.

Amber rushed down the hallway, kicking the rifle away from the now two halves of the armored figure. Close behind her was Maldin, a strange blue slate in her hands.

"That was an idiotic move, you could've gotten yourself killed." Amber chides Tey, helping him to his feet. A sense of shame washes over the proud warrior, as the two Security Officers secure the weapon and two station-bounced radios. The Research Director takes the weapon, while Amber checks on the status of the station.

Tey kneels down to the corpse, pulling the helmet off. The face is disfigured, likely from the force of the blast on his midsection. The headset on his ear is in pieces. There is no salvaging that. Amber looks rather stressed, before speaking.

"Tey, the situation isn't good. Kihir and Samwell have gone dark. No comms with them at all. The Commander is heavily injured, and currently in emergency surgery. Captain is dead. The Bridge is completely vented." She quickly rattles out, before racking another bolt and aiming down the hallway behind you. "Contacts!"

Two more armored figures stand at the end of the hallway, one with a blue shield of shimmering energy attached to her wrist, while she one handed a submachine gun, while the other had a very large machine gun. Tey quickly grabs the Director, and hits the deck behind the wall as bullets fly down the hallway.

Tey rushes off, aiming to head around and flank the two heavily armored individuals while they were focused on Amber. Amber expressed her objections to this course of action, due to how the last plan went, but Tey insisted. She relented.

Tey quickly rushed around the corridors, the gunfire still echoing throughout the hallways. As Tey rounded the last corner, he saw something move in the dark corner of a hallway. A Vorpal Gun charging up. Whether this was a Security Officer, or something else remained unclear, but that Vorpal Gun was aimed right at the two figures pinning down Amber and the Director.

Tey remains in his location, attempting to hide his bulk as effectively as possible. The gunfire stops for a moment, and Tey hears a word uttered in the corner. "High Explosive." In an instant, the trigger is pulled, and an explosion is both felt and heard from the other side of the corner. Tey, knowing that the mysterious figure's Vorpal Gun now has to recharge, rounds the corner, and delivers some sweet shotgun barrel justice to the remaining figure.

That remaining figure who is missing a leg and an arm, and covered in the ichor of her compatriot. With a single shot to the head, Tey puts the operative out of her misery, and turns to see someone emerging from the darkness. It's another Texlotl, one of Tey's close friends. Axe. Short for Axelitzotl. He regards Tey with an ancestral greeting. Grabbing each others hands and attempting to crush it.

Together, they round the corner, to see Amber laying on the ground, a pool of blood under her, and the Director applying pressure to her leg. Amber seems to be staring at the cieling, her chest rising and falling faintly.

"She needs to get to Medical, right now. Listen, I can't risk this falling into their hands. You have to take it, and get it off this station. Get it back to Central Command." Seems we have a tie. I'll call it a night here as well. In the morning, unless we have more votes, I'll flip a coin to decide.

It was fun running this. Hope to see you all in the morning.

>>1819430

i just said you could do both without a problem...?
>>

I didn't see that when I posted that. You right.

Still though. In the morning.

"How above my clearance is this? I don't want to hand this off to someone who shouldn't have it when I get there?" Tey asks, loading two more shells into his shotgun to replace the two that he had fired.

Shotgun: 15/43

The Director looks at Tey. "So far above that if you lose it, you'll find a black bag over your face and your existence will be erased from every database."

Tey nods, not wanting to draw the waiting time for Amber out any further. He gives a simple hand gesture to Axe, signalling him to go with them so that they have a bit more firepower to get to the Medical Bay. Axe goes without any problems, as he doesn't want to be involved in the situation well above his paygrade.

The group heads off, leaving Tey alone in the dark, bloodstained corridor. He has a few options on which direction to go to.

>Head through the maintenance tunnels. Quiet, and out of the way. Tey likely won't run into any resistance on the way, but it takes a bit longer.

>Head straight there, through the main corridor. Tey will likely run into resistance, but there's a lot of side rooms to take cover in.

>Go through one of the side corridors. Smaller than the main corridor, but bigger than the maintenance tunnels.

Tey rushes down the side corridor, when he could hear distant gunshots. Due to Tey's knowledge of the station, he could ascertain that the gunshots are coming from the Bar. Tey has a choice.

> Go to the Bar, and scope out that situation.

> Continue on course.

(( Sorry for short post, but there isn't much you can really detail about running down a hallway without sounding pretentious. ))
