Hey there folks, I promise not to be kill, and I ask you to vote for our race (First to three). Once we've got a race, I'll give you all some options regarding where our civilisation will spawn itself. From the rolling steppes to the vast islands of the great ocean.

Bring on the giants, let the fear are massive size of hugeness!

Alright, Giants, it is. A few ideas, first off.

First, our giants could be Islanders, native to the great archipelagos of the Great Ocean. Great tattooed folk, with the rage of the beasts in them, hunters of whales and sharks, fighting off invaders and defending their island homes from encroachment. Survive the harsh ocean and the teeming jungles to build a mighty civilization.

Second, our Giants dwell in the great mountains, raiding the placid, weak kingdoms below their mountain fortresses. Numerous clans, princes and petty kings rule over the various Giant clans, and war is a constant companion to all. For the glory of the mountain gods, the tribe wins honour, and for the great open sky it casts down false idols and false tribes.

Third, I could give something to do with Arctic hunters a try, far in the frozen north, beyond even the great steppe.

Please vote for your favourite idea of the three, or propose your own.

The giant folk have always dwelled on these oceans, since Tapo, the Sea, bestowed the force of the waves into the very earth. The elders tell the tales of those early days, inherited from ancient ancestors, telling of the great voyages across the expanses of the sea, and of the adventures of mighty ancient heroes. The great archipelago consists of a teeming multitude of islands, from barren rocks, barely emerging from the ocean to the great mountainous peaks of Krai'To, the greatest island of all. Across every island, giant-folk tribes dwell. Warring, wooing and joining together into federations to fight off outsiders, or the beast-folk of the hills, your kind has always been dominant in this land, though the great beasts may rise and mighty Tapo may be enraged, her children grasp too firmly onto the earth to ever be washed away.

The elders of the tribe may know of these distant places or the travelling warrior-youth of the tribe, but for most, only the nearest islands are known. The tribe's own island sits to the distant west of the Archipelago, and life upon it is much the same as almost every other island large enough to host more than one clan. Several clans dwell in holdfasts and villages, hidden away in the jungle or in the mountains, or even on the coast. Great stone altars and wayshrines litter the land, each tribe holding one or two, with fighting for the great altars, and for the supplies the island can offer, taking up much of the tribe's time.

>Where does our tribe dwell upon this island?
>Upon the coast, where they may fish and trade with others. The tribe is adventurous and likely not originally native to the island. The local spirits are new and must be appeased alongside the tribe's distant ancestors.
>In the outskirts of the jungle. Near enough to the Ocean for fishing and trade, but more likely to farm the sweet yams common among Giant-folk, along with local swine. These tribes are hunters and warriors alike, though agriculture binds them to their land. These tribes are likely local but must appease the spirits nonetheless by claiming Altars and wayshrines in glorious combat. Their ancestors yet dwell with them, and as such, the tribe has a greater grounding and will fight more courageously to defend their land.
>High in the mountains, where the jungle thins. These tribes are warriors, through and through. Food is scarce in the reaches of the mountain, though shrines and altars are common, forcing these tribes into nigh constant battle, so long as they stay in the mineral rich mountains. These tribes are truly native to the island and are likely more traditional and less adventurous than their counterparts.

OP, you say they're less adventurous, but wouldn't they have to wander off to get basic life supplies?
>>
>>1739519
In the sense of not voluntarily exploring the world beyond the island. Mountain folk revere the altars of the island, and the vast tombs of their ancestors above all, and many of them cannot even contemplate leaving their ancestors behind to travel to another island, unlike their fellows on the beaches or in the jungles.

Side note, mountains=beastfolk.

If our tribe controls the coast, the other clans will have to deal with us trade wise for fish and access to the sea

The Ancestors speak, but the lowlanders have forgotten their tongue. Since the earth touched the wave, your ancestors have dwelled upon your island, and it is /your/ island. Your people were born from this very soil, and have dwelt upon it for millennia. The lowlanders are but heretics and thieves, stealing your ancestral homes from you. It was they that brought the beast-folk to your shores, and who forced your forefathers from the jungles. Their filthy hands now grasp at your lost altars, while you remain, huddled around the tombs of your ancestors, vengeful and hungering for blood. Perhaps fifty of your clan dwell in the heights, the Vo'Ron Clan's ancestor temple delved into the mountainside acting as your home. Other clans live in the mountain heights too, but you are brothers to them, closer allies than any of the lowlanders ever could be. Each clan protects their clanhold, but the jungle-folk yet encroach.

The chief is dead. Slain in a duel with a jungle-lander chief over a lowland Altar recently returned to your possession. The chieftain's body, riddled with scars, but huge and gnarled from age, has been borne back to the mountain-home on a great platform of dried coconut leaves and sandalwood. His ancient flesh even now begins to slough from his bones, and his kin carries him into the ancestor temple. the ritual internment lasts a full day, as every kinsfolk of the dead chieftain proceeds into the halls of the dead to bestow a gift upon him, and to pray before their own distant ancestors, deep in the buried halls, that the dead should be favoured among them.

The clan come to rest in the evening around the great campfire, the old and young alike relaxing their bronze, calloused musculature. The clan faces much hardship. With the lowland altar conquered, Food will become yet more scarce, and the few swine left in the clan pens are insufficient to feed the clan without slaughter. No clans owe the Vo'Ron tribute, and the young dwindle and starve. The oldest and wisest Tapui (Clanfolk) assemble around a campfire outside of the ancestor temple, under the vast sphere of shimmering stars. A new chief must be chosen

>The chieftain's son, a vengeful and strong leader, determined to avenge his father.
>The wisest of the Elders, a great shaman, wise enough to guide the tribe, though less of a warrior.
>The Tapui Council will rule. Chieftains are vulnerable, but the council possesses all the wisdom and strength the tribe will need. Bickering may waste time, but the council will be wise.

Changng to this, but the competition is a trial of threes

>A trial of hands, the greatest of our fighters wrestling
>A trial of feet, the fastest of our clan racing
>A trial of Heart, the greatest orator of the clan must sway the clan to their side.

Best two outta three?

Kau, son of Manock, stands ready to begin the first trial to rule. The Tapui decided to test potential rulers and their wisdom is unquestioned. Kau stepped down into the ring of stone, onto the blood scented sand below him. An altar stone sits in the centre of the ring, the worn down figure of a man bearing a great stone crafted from the deep black stone of the fire-top mountains. Not a stone found on the island. Kau's great frame, perhaps twelve feet in height, his great shoulders broad and his limbs muscle bound and taut. His skin, tan and calloused, ripples as the muscles move underneath, and he prepares himself. He raises a great arm and catches a Rapa, a great spear, with a head of Iron, the ritual weapon of duels, immensely rare in the isles. The shaft of fine wood is wound around by the figures of snakes, and engravings of ancient script cover the shaft replicated over the generations but now forgotten by all but the wisest sages.

No armour is permitted, only a loincloth and a talisman. Kau tests the weight of the spear and looks out to see who shall challenge him. One brave steps up, a cousin, before taking a talisman of Rakanok, the god of the earth, and receiving his own Rapa. Kau's foe is larger, but not so swift, and the two have known one another for many long years. Kau's great mane of black hair whips as he twists his head, taking a deep breath before the combat begins.

An elder casts a stone into the sky, and a tense few moments pass before it clatters down onto the stone. In a moment, the battle is joined, the swifter Kau launching himself around the idol and diving forth towards his foe. The foe parries his blade inexpertly, before striking upward at the stumbling Kau. The blow scratches Kau's hard hide but glances off, and he takes the chance to launch himself, by the power of his great legs, at his foe. Kau lifts the spear, and brings the blade down with a wet thud into his foe's hand, forcing his foe to drop his spear. Kau, having the victory in the first combat, casts his own blade down, and nods to his foe, giving the man the chance to concede before the true battle begins.

The stout fellow does not, and Kau, seeing his refusal, springs into action. At first, theirs is a battle of strikes, as fists rend at flesh and clatter against bone, but gradually they cling to one another, wrestling and grappling, too tired to strike solidly. For a while, the fight is even, as the two batter each other down, but Kau's swifter frame and stamina soon grant him the advantage. With a solid kick to his foes head, resulting in a burst of bloody spittle, Kau manages to secure his lead, straddling his stumbling foe and beating him unconscious.

Bruised, bloody, but unbroken, Kau looks up to see if any remain to challenge him. Two others rise, and before nightfall, two others lie unconscious, and Kau sits at rest, drinking from a gourd. By the time the moon rises, the three beaten Braves sit at Kau's side, his trusted friends.
