In the beginning you thought it was just a cough. As the days ticked by the cough grew worse and your usually healthy body felt weak to the point you couldn't even get out of bed, and most of your time was spent feeling intensely cold, your bedsheets wrung with sweat. Soon after you were rushed to the hospital with the doctors quickly identifying the cause as the rare phenomena known as Alternative Puberty. This couldn't have happened at a worse time for you because:

Alice Jones is a cute, petite, button-nosed girl. She's a little chubby, and her gothic fashion sense seems to be a little outdated, but she doesn't care and neither did you. Since you were born you've been a black male, so when you notice that your arms are pale-white you feel a shiver run up your spine. "Oh. Fuck." you think, as you sit up, reaching for the top of your head which has been shaved down to be nearly bald, but even from the light fuzz you can feel your hair isn't the same. It has none of the texture of black hair.

You touch your face, feeling your nose is no longer broad, but narrow and pointed. Your lips feel thinner, not heavy as you've known them to be. Even the slight young man facial hair you had tried to grow to look a little more mature has vanished in place of smooth feeling skin.

You get out of bed, finding yourself still feeling weak from the high fevere you suffered through. You open up the curtain, finding yourself in a ward filled with teenagers asleep in their beds. One boy with glasses has his phone out; you can see his face against the phone glare in the dark. He see's you but also pays you no attention. You make your way down the ward and find a small, vacant lavatory room. You're thankful there's no indication of what gender is supposed to use it. You go inside and an automatic light switches on as you enter, closing the door behind you.

You gasp at the sight in the mirror. A white teenage girl looks back at you in alarm. No, wait, no white...asian? You lean closer towards one another until your face is inches away from the girl. She looks to be half-white, half-asian. A light patter of freckles surrounds her nose. Her eyes are brown. She's not exceptionally pretty, but she is cute.

You make a close inspection of your face. There's a freckle underneath your bottom lip that's pretty big. That scar you got on your temple from crashing your bike into a bush has almost disappeared, with just a find trace of it left behind. Your teeth, which were a bit yellow before, are now white. You look down your gown and see a small, almost non-existent pair of breasts, with nipples only slightly bigger than average for you. Further beyond that you spot your new womanhood, which has a light fuzz of hair over the landing area. You don't have the stomach to inspect any further than that. You press down the tap and wet your face. It feels very refreshing, and it's only now you feel how thirsty you are.

You return the your bed and get back in. There's a jug of water and a cup beside you. You pour yourself a drink, finish the cup, then let your tired mind drift off to sleep.
