Whaddup guys! Ive got an idea for a quest I think would do well with a different OP than me. A Alternate history WW1 quest with a heavy emphasis on steam/dieselpunk and excessively mechanized forces. The MC could be a young recruit, freshly drafted into service and serving aboard a light Mech. The MC could be Russian, German, British, French or American.
Perhaps each nation would confer bonuses and have specific strengths and weaknesses.
This is just an idea Ive had noodling around in my head for a while and was wondering if anybody would like to take a crack at it. Id be open to discussion and brainstorming in this thread or on discord

What about /qtg/?

/qtg/

That works. I didn't even know what /qtg/ was.

Just do it Cursed, I want this quest. Can we be Not-The Rocketeer?
>>1701682
pls don't abandon undead quest
>>1702020
No worry anon. A better OP than me would do much better

Shut your yap pal. Not too many can balance edge with practicality. Most of the time it's either boring or super edgy muh evil torture durhur. Now gimme pulp ww1 robot stuff.

Any ideas? This is just concept building. Any ideas would be welcome.

My bad, had work. Every nation would have unique flavors for their steam/dieselpunk mechs. Weapon technology would most likely advance quickly, unless you wanted to keep the trench stuff. Tesla would be a big deal, depends on how weird you wanna get.

Make a wolfenstein themed quest involving the newer games...
That'll be kickass for sure

Im thinking trench stuff. Lots of cannons and machine guns with the more elite units having Tesla weapons or specialized melee weapons beside the "Can Opener" bayonet.

Instead of exactly ww1, make it a sort of vague ww1/ww2 interwar era period. It opens things up.
Keep your sides distinct and base it on resources and technology.
>Coal/ furnace/ Steam boilers using Mechanical connections like pulleys and cables puffing and tooting smoke, ash and steam
>Diesel/ Crude bunker fuel using hydraulics/ fueldraulics bleeding oil and acrid foul thick smoke everywhere as it goes
>Refined "petrol" Gas with chain linkage, sprokets, and mechanical drives screeching and revving, exploding dramatically when they take critical damage while running with the needle bouncing off the peg for redline performance
>Natural Gas using Pneumatic, Quiet, clean, short range, troops using powerful compressed air rifles, and the mechs doing the same. Internal pneumatic systems being charged by a twin bellows pump system ran off the engine, going so far as to use its own exhaust gasses.
as silly as this is, it sets the pace for their "style" and really commuincates how smokey and dirty or advanced and fireballey a machine is.
Imagine the coal fired boiler mech clunking along with pulleys cables vs a gasoline powered mech running of hydraulics and pneumatics, etc.
Rubber wheels vs spoked steel tractor wheels vs treads, etc.
