It’s pretty clear at this point that your chances of winning the war are small but your chances of survival are even smaller if you stay in this camp.
A few successful pushes by enemy forces have resulted in the enemy encircling the surrounding area. Your battalion has been cut off from all supply lines and the resulting dwindling supplies are making it more and more difficult to fend off the enemy, who are slowly making their way towards your base.
The opposing force made an executive decision about a year ago to stop taking prisoners because it was becoming too expensive to house and feed them. The higher ups have claimed they’re sending planes to evacuate everyone but if they could afford to send enough planes to clear out the entire base right now you wouldn't be losing this war. It’s likely they’ll only send a few planes to take important personnel and materials before ditching the base entirely and that’s if the planes don’t get shot down. Seeing that survival seems close to impossible if you stay here, you and four other soldiers have decided to desert.
At 2300 hours you and the rest of your new found crew enter the mess hall and are beckoned by a man named Randy who wants you to sit down at the table and introduce yourselves.
