Kalimbi, an island nation quite a ways south of it's larger neighbors, was a perfect place for making coin if you were in the right business. For most this meant trade, you on the other hand had better plans. Why spend potential profits on purchasing goods, when you could steal them? You weren't the only one with this line of thought, and in a town like this drunken sailors and fleeing prisoners are always looking for work.
>>
You wake up in the piss smelling corner of the small inn you passed out in sometime between the two days ago and now. The sound of merriment and drinking pairs nicely to the familiar scent of rum and degeneracy. With the last bits of your cut of your most recent spoils spent, it's time soon to be setting off into the salty sea. Of course that wouldn't be possible without your ship. What did it look like again?

> A sloop, fast and maneuverable with plenty of space for loot, but lacking in crew quarters and guns.

>A Brig, hardy and large, not as fast or maneuverable as a sloop, but with vastly more space for crew and a lot more guns.

Ah The Seagull, a 8 gun sloop housing 35 sailors, quicker than many ships and perfect for charging close for a boarding. She's not a pretty ship, but she does her job. With memories flowing back you wipe the sleep from your eyes and the grog from your lips and head towards the docks. Exiting the tavern you see the busy streets of Cale, a large town the handles most of the trade to the island, turning eastward you walk for several minutes passing rows of vendors peddling everything from spices, to food, to "services". Approaching the docks you can see someone harshly arguing with a short portly man, the greying beard on his face doing nothing to mask his scowl. Coming closer you see your first mate.

>Scarla, a woman of both fiery hair and temperament. She's never one to back away from a challenge, and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. She's just as likely to break your nose as she is to cut your purse. The crew no not to mess with her, and follow her orders mostly out of admiration She values gold, drink, and adventure.

>Menor Rempart, a tall elven man with dark slicked back hair and clean face. He prefers indirect confrontation and excels at misdirection. He is a master of influence and could turn even the greatest allies into enemies. The crew tend not to be in his company, partially due to his heritage and partially to his manipulative ways. He values the coin and making said coin with the least risk to himself as possible.

>Robert Scanley, a large olive skinned man, formerly a slave rescued off a plundered ship in your early years, he is a natural leader and is respected throughout the crew, he is a simple man that values respect and loyalty. While he gladly leads the charge when boarding ships he also expects quarter for those who don't fight.

Anon,

He values respect and loyalty so he would be loyal to us. And he's not that bright so easier to control, and more likely to die in a charge. So if he becomes a problem we have a way to get rid of him.

Well we did rescue then as a slave so I'd trust that to have bought some loyalty

>Clave Barker
>Twenty year old son of Captain Marcos Barker of the Royal navy ship The Seaskipper. Clave spent most of his early life with his drunken mother while his father was out fighting for the Empire. At the age of twelve his father took him on as a cabin boy on his ship and started to teach him the ways of commanding and sailing. While having a good grip on commanding Clave never got the hang of sailing or navigation. He also spend time with some of the men learning sword fighting and how to use a pistol for whenever they we're boarded. Clave quickly got board of all the rules and regulations that the navy had, I mean hell you couldn't even raid a settlement for God's sake. So at the age of 17 Clave slipped out of the Seaskipper at dock and decided to start up his own pirate band and take everything the world had to offer in his own hands while leaving a letter for his father saying goodbye. His father reading his son's letter reported it to the navy and requested a bounty put on him.
How about this then.

Recognizing Menor distinct elfishness, you come closer hearing the back end of the portly man's ramblings "Oh that sleazy no good bastard, I'll kill him for this. Thank you kindly, not too many elves 'round these parts, but its good to see someone willin' to stick 'er neck out fer me." The portly man begins treading off, but not before passing Menor a sizable pouch of coin.

Counting the coin as you approach Menor sees you approach and immediately greets you "Hello dear Captain Lodbrok, I assume your ready to make way? The crew were starting to get anxious for more coinage."

>Ask him what that was, and if there's any more coin.

Turning and walking down the dock you get to talking with your second in command.
>What was that?
"That was simply me helping a... "friend" in exchange for some gambling money. In fact here." he says as he scoops a handful of coins from the bag, pocketing them, and handing you the remaining. "To good fortune at the table."

>Have you heard wind of any particularly plump targets?

"To the northeast about 2 weeks by ship is the small island of Tyue. It's a small island feeding from the wealth of it's eastern neighbors Gial Minor. It's in the shadow of it's richer neighbor and so most of the Conglomerates naval defenses don't pay it much mind, but it's still close enough to be ripe with loot. Though with only 35 men it still might be difficult, but not impossible. If that's too ambitious for you we could just pick on the merchant vessels heading between Kalimbi and Giah Major.

>That's pretty knowledgeable Menor...

"It is my job to know things and help you help everyone on board"

By the end of the conversation you've made it to your ship, The Seagull. Stepping aboard most of your crewmen give you firm nods or haughty salutes and greetings, heading up towards the end of the ship you meet with your helmsman Smitty.
"Mornin' Cap'n, where we off to next"

"All righty sir"
As the ship is pulled out into sea the distinct sound of a pistol shot rings in your ear, and the smug look of Menor as he jingles the coin in his pocket are the last reminder of the port of Kalimbi. The ship pulling farther and farther until the island is but a spec on the horizon, your helmsman directs the crew bringing the ship towards the outer edges of Conglomerate trade routes.

This is it until at least tomorrow, it's 4 am and i got shit to do. Thanks for playing

>>1665782
Two days, two full days of nothing but open seas and salty air. Sitting in you small cabin tracing your beard absentmindedly, you pull back the tankard of ale and down it. It isn't but a moment later that a sharp set of quick knocks rouses you from your boredom.
>"What is it?"
From the doorway comes your first mate Menor "Captain Lodbrok, a ship off the port bow. From the flags it looks to be mercantile." Stepping past him and onto the deck proper you hear the shouts of men quite, looking to you for what to do. Looking leftwards you indeed see a small schooner, it does indeed have the mark of the merchant-baron Cromsby printed onto it's sails.
"Your orders Captain?"

>Rush them, get close enough to board them, we don't wanna risk any loot falling into the sea.

>Fire on them from here, hopefully they'll realize surrender is much more favorable to sinking.

>write in
>>
>>1668193
What colors are we flying? Pirate? Our nation? Other?
Since I have a sneaky plan to get them in close than blast them. But it depends on the flag we'll flying and if we have some of their color flags, to signal.
>>
>>1668233
You currently aren't flying a flag, While theirs are of the baron Cromsby.

>>1668258
>>1668193

I want them to close in before we open fire on them. So we should wave the colored flags, to signal, we need some aid. (In need of water for the trip)
They will come close to us to provide aid, or sell us water at a heavy price, and when they get close we blast them. Loading our guns with grape if (close enough) and firing on the top deck, killing most of the crew.

(Normal round shot if they are too far away for grape.)
>>
>>1668281
You order your men to signal the ship as if under distress, while the cannons are preemptively loaded. As the minutes pass the ship eventually toddles towards yours and the mass of wood eventually meets just 20 yards away. As soon as they're within range a small group of men assemble looking as though they are about to say something. That is before the four guns on the port side of you ship open fire, blasting away not only them but covering the whole deck in ball bearing sized death. As the smoke clears a second round of cannon fire can be heard, and the crashes of iron meeting the wood of your ship can be heard as several new windows are made below deck. Several men immediately scramble downwards to seal the holes

>Load another volley.

>Order the crew to grapple the ship and board.
>>
>>1668346
>>Order the crew to grapple the ship and board.
They have to load like we do, so while they are reloading we charge at them and board, since their top deck is mostly filled with dying men, so our boarding will go smoother.
>>
>>1668346
No rolling? Or RP only?
>>
>>1668370
i like having decisions before rolls rather than with them

also roll to tell your crew to load the cannons seemed kinda redundant.
>>
>>1668384
So rolling only when it make sense. That's something I like, like trying to pass a skill check or something that hard. While normal things like loading cannons is not needed.
Maybe a roll for now the cannons did?

>Order the crew to grapple the ship and board.

Several men begin twirling grapples and launching them towards the opposite ship, while most the others begin firing pistols and rifles into the smoke covered deck of the ship.

As the grapples find there mark men begin pulling the ships closer, eventually a thick plank is dropped connected the ships with a, mostly, sturdy bridge.

You decide to...

>Stay on ship, firing into the enemy from range with several other crewman

>Charge with the group of men over the bridge, no fight like a sword fight.
>>
>>1668448

>Stay on ship, firing into the enemy from range with several other crewman

As shouts and war cries echo through the air, so does shot and blood. Watching as a several crewmen are shot down on your ship you rush to ones discarded rifle, load it with shot, and begin firing with the other 6 still hunkered at the edge of the ship shooting beside you.

As lead is exchanged between your crew on the deck and those of the enemy ship you see another of your crew shot down as you approach. You quickly load the rifle and peer over the edge of your ship. Taking careful aim you spot a large man, nearly as large as you tearing through your crewman. Bloodied and foaming at the mouth he tears into your crew with nothing more than a hatchet. Just he's about to finish off one of the younger crewmen in your employ, you fire. The shot tearing a chunk out of his left shoulder. It hasn't killed him, but it did seem to not only hurt but to really piss him off. You watch as the younger crewman scrambles away before the large man, with a running start leaps onto your ship. Landing with a large thud, one of the crewman with you turns his rifle on him while the others desperately load theirs with shot. What do you do?

>Shoot him for dammit, surely to more shots will put him down.
